Hits & Misses: They're definitely doing some innovative things, like the pickled mango sushi. Via Instagram, customers sign-up for the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. They will message you for pickup time if you're selected. You may takeout or dine-in. The menu for 9-22-24 was a Bento and the dessert was a matcha flight - a scoop of ice cream, warabi mochi, and a regular mochi. Everything looked too beautiful to eat! We watched the workers assemble the bentos and matcha dessert flights. So much concentration and effort is put into each item! I was able to order one of the limited Kahi drinks. It's made with amazake, Yuzu purée, unsweetened yuzu soda, and matcha from Japan. The combination sounds odd, but tasted great! There were bits of yuzu with rind on the bottom of the cup. The citrus flavor was refreshing! This experience makes me want to sign up for the next event - October 13! I wonder what the menu will be...

The kouign amann seems like a popular item as we bought the last of them (we had wanted four, but there were only three) and it was still early afternoon. There is a parking garage nearby that allowed for long enough free parking for us to go order and grab our goodies to go. The location itself doesn't have a lot of seating space, so it seems best set up for takeout, but it is a pleasantly bright space and the outdoor seating seems like it would be nice as they're not on a main throughfare. It's far from where my family lives on the island that we stay with when we're visiting, but next time we're near Ala Moana around lunchtime, we'll definitely stop by for some vegan goodies!
