I call this one an Ode to Muki Dogs: What hits the spot on a sunny day, Oh Muki Dogs--I'm glad you're here to stay, The sight of your smoke from across Mother Waldron Park, I'll dart your way just like a shark, As the smoke from your grill wafts through the Kaka'ako air, If I inhaled six of your hot dogs in front of a cute boy, I would not care. Flame grilled and perfectly seasoned, No matter the reason, My love for you only deepens, Oh Muki Dogs--I can count on you to make my day, Vegan hot dogs do you say? I would not have it any other way. Miso kake and the works galore, Oh Muki Dogs--you're the one I adore, Delicious and friendly always, I give you five stars, For hot dog carts everywhere, you set the bar, You can say my obsession with you is rather strange, But please oh please, don't ever change. Eugene, Mike, and Evan, you folks sure are great, For my next Muki Dog here, I cannot wait!

I've never gotten to try a beyond sausage before! My partner is vegetarian and always disappointed when he can't have anything at the hot dog stands in town. This place only has Beyond sausages available with a different variation on toppings. The owner was so sweet and told me about their other shop in Kaimuki, as well! I live near Waldron park so this location is super convenient. I immediately texted my partner and he's stoked to come try. My puppy loved them, too!

Got boba from Milky Way and wanted something savory to go along with it. This was me and my boyfriend's first time trying Muki Dogs and we were not disappointed!! It had so much flavor and perfectly complimented our sweet boba. We are not vegans but this definitely satisfied our hunger. Also great customer service! My bf was the one who picked up the hot dogs and the only reason he bought them was because he remembered I said I wanted to try some when we passed by. He really didn't know what to order so he asked for whatever. Nice guy gave us The Works and Miso Kake. Both were delicious but I think the Miso Kake was my favorite. I'm glad they're at this new location in Kakaako, I will definitely be stopping by again!

My very favorite hot dog! I even tricked my dyed in the wool meat eater friend to try it, and after he admitted it was tasty, I broke the news to him that it wasn't real meat. Super good service and excellent food! I'll always come back!

We had Noodle with 4 sides/choices : Tofu Yuba spring rolls, Daikon mochi, Vegetable mix and Hot and sour soup. And their original cheesecake. All vegetables. They don't use meats or eggs. I don't know how they make and taste like meats. Loved their thin noodle with lots of vegetables, added celery. Loved Tofu Yuba spring rolls and Daikon mochi. Their original sauce, ginger sweet oil sauce was delicious. I ate dipped with this ginger oil, even adding to my noodle. This Cheesecake is the best ever. $12 for whole cake. Prices were reasonable. Staffs were helpful. Food was fresh. They open only lunch time during weekdays. Thank you so much. I come here not even thinking about vegetarian food, I just want some delicious Asian food and whatever they put out there I'll eat it. They usually have the sweet and sour soup, but one day they had this lau lau soup with coconut milk in it that's so yummy. I don't consider this a Hawaiian restaurant but hey that's what they served that day, I'd try it and I hope they make it again soon! It's cafeteria style so you pick a size and choose your items. Add soup to make it a combo or not. Some dishes they offer include stir fry veggies with tofu or mock meat, tofu wrap, turnip cake, gyozas, broccoli with mock meat, fried rice, clear glass noodle stir fry, yellow noodle stir fry. I'm not sure if they use egg at all? I think so? Service has always been friendly. The ladies are all very nice. They speak Cantonese or mandarin as well. It looks like their Japanese cheese cake is always sold out. Guess next time I just have to go earlier. Place is big enough to fit a crowd. Mostly tables for up to 4 people but I think bigger groups can go to the back for more room. Congrats on 10 years and thanks for feeding us delicious and healthy food!

Two young guys were behind the counter and I was their only customer. Not knowing the routine, I asked and the guy said to pick my base and said I could have half rice and half greens, which I went with. I then had 4 choices so added pickled onions, eggs, hummus, and a tomato salad. Then added on dressing. When I asked if I got the protein as a part of it, I was told yes, so I chose the steak. It was a huge salad and everything was fresh and will last me for several days. The reason I am taking off a star and giving 4 instead of 5 is because I was charged extra for the protein which should have been explained. With my tip it was $23. I will go back though, it was very good. But the people dishing up the food should offer more explanations.

I want this place to stick around! That being said I did not really like my meal. I want to believe it's on me for choosing the wrong combo but I had a couple of issues. First, at least when I went, the rice was sitting out in a separate dish and was room temperature. I would like the rice to at least be warm, even better if it had some fragrant flavor like saffron rice should but I didn't taste it. Second, I got the falafel, which is something best served fresh or it gets dried out, unfortunately it was very dry even when dipping in the tzatziki so I did not finish it. The harissa sauce mixed with tzatziki was really good so I'm hopeful that a fresh and hot falafel with warm rice would have been much better than what I had today. Willing to try again. The staff was young but sweet and helpful, no complaints there.

The good news is it is fast so if you wait a little bit, someone is likely to finish up and leave. The ambience is definitely casual since it is a truck. There is covered picnic-table style seating for this truck and the other trucks nearby. The food is SO good. I read rave reviews on here for the fish tacos so I orderes them and they did not disappoint. The vegan sour cream is so creamy, thr coleslaw is perfectly tangy and crunchy, and the vegan fish is delightful. My husband got the chicken tacos which were hot, in contrast to the fish tacos. They had avocado and a green sauce and we also liked these though the fish were our favorite. The hibiscus lemonade was lovely and refreshing also. The service here is very fast. We basically ordered and then looked around at the other truck menus and by that time our food was ready! I would definitely recommend this place especially for vegetarians and vegans and would love to come back!

Overall a bit pricy, but the food was delicious! The drink was refreshing but may be too sweet for some.. The pastry had the perfect amount of sweetness and crispy/flakiness- but I wish I could've had it heated up a bit! I wasn't sure about the French dip when ordering it, but it was really good! While eavesdropping the conversation between some colleagues who were discussing their lunch plans…read morethe other day, it was discovered they were heading over to Govinda's Vegetarian Buffet (GVB). This brought back memories of my experience here YEARS ago. Located in Nuuanu, just a few minutes by foot from Maemae School, GVB has been offering since 1991, a healthy dining option in a peaceful setting inside ISKCON Hawai'i Temple. They offer an AYCE option weekdays from 11am to 230pm. Upon arrival, my friends and I immediately noticed the calm atmosphere in the beautiful gardens of this Hare Krishna Temple. After paying for our meal we sat down on community long tables in their cozy dining room. The buffet line had a decent selection where standouts were the vegetarian lasagna, assorted curries and the fresh vegetables. Menu offerings change daily where notables include vegetarian lasagna, lentil nut loaf, samosas, quiche, assorted curries and halva. There's also mint ginger water and water offered. Service here is limited as it's pretty much do it yourself. So why only 4 stars? Food was nothing outstanding and the food temperature was not hot as I would have preferred. Eating some dishes such as curries, samosas and papadum would have better if eaten hot. Overall, my friends and I had a great experience here at GVB where I was finally able to try them. This is not a place I'd initiate a get together but wouldn't object if friends wanted to come here. Better late than never.

Juicy Brew, where have you been all my life? Sitting conspicuously on Waialae Avenue! I've passed…read morethis place hundreds of times before. I've seen it often but never stopped. Such a bad life choice for sure! I'm a pescatarian and I avoid dairy. So, Juicy Brew is literally made for me with their completely plant-based menu. And, I can't even explain why I never checked them out before, but we all make poor decisions. I'm committed to rectifying the error of my ways with many future visits to this locally owned oasis of vegan goodness! It's rare that I write a review after just one visit to an establishment. But, it's rare that a place blows my mind and taste buds with the very first mouthful. But, yes, it was love, maybe even obsession at first bite. Seriously, happy tears came to my eyes when I sunk my teeth into the BEST Reuben sandwich I've EVER had. It was a culinary masterpiece! Pumpernickel bread from The Breadshop sandwiched the crispy mochiko tempeh, layered with a robust carawat kraut, paper-thin cut marinated beets, a robust Russian dressing, and the house cheez sauce. The bread was thickly cut and -- a superb design consideration because it held together the abundant filling well. It was served with a small green salad with fresh cucumbers. My mouth is literally watering writing this review. My gluten-free niece had the Reuben version as a salad. The vegetables were expertly cut. I mention this because you could tell every dish was crafted with care and prepared with love. They treat their ingredients with respect and reverence creating meals perfectly balanced in taste and texture (so important for vegan food, any food really). My other niece opted for the beautiful Hirata Buns. The colors of this café favorite really stood out. Eating is also a visual experience, and Juicy Brew knows that. Soft, sunny yellow, house made buns cradling the crispy orange-yuzu 'chicken,' drizzled with a bright and heaty kimchi aioli and accented with a sprinkling of green onions and bubu arare accompanied by a bed of house pickles and slaw. The menu offers sandwiches, salads, soba noodles, macaroni and cheese and more. There is a fridge in the dining area featuring ready-to-go meals like miso sweet potato salad, tofu poke, and orzo pasta. It also holds a selection of Aloha Sweet Remedies drinks. I opted for the house made Black Velvet latte just because of the name. They suggested it with macadamia milk, a first for me. The black sesame and activated charcoal produced a rich, savory, slightly smoky flavor; a bold contrast to the vanilla pound cake syrup. Special points because it was served in reusable cups since we dined in. The café is small with four tables. When we arrived, there were no seats but it cleared quickly. There are also a couple counter seats. You might have to wait for a table if you want to dine in. Or you could get your food to-go. The service was friendly and helpful. It's also a small operation, so there might be a wait. But, the kitchen is not skimping on the freshness of ingredients or rushing preparation. It's ALL worth it! It's the Waialae area, so you know the parking drill. Free street parking available close-by off Waialae; metered one-hour parking on Waialae Avenue. If you have to do a short walk, so what! You can pass by the other locally-owned boutiques, restaurants, and bakeries. Speaking of baked goods, Juicy Brew offers a nice selection of scones, cookies, muffins, and cakes. This place is going to be my go-to, for sure! I regret not stopping by sooner. So, don't be like me! Stop by, try the food, sip a latte, get something to-go, and make a wise life choice!!

Parking is limited, so I usually order online and select curbside pickup. The staff is always friendly, and this cozy little spot on Waialae Avenue has a welcoming neighborhood feel that is so Kaimuki. The Banh Mi Style Lemongrass Tofu Burger is absolutely incredible and easily my favorite item on their menu. Everything in this "burger" is there for a reason. Perfectly balanced. Always freshly made. The warm crispy panko coated katsu on the tofu pairs perfectly with the pickled veggies and the soft bun ties it all together. Textural Heaven. The Korean Hirata Buns are massive! The texture on the tofu is better than real chicken. The Korean flavors on the chick'n, house made pickles and the kimchi aioli make this another flavor masterpiece. The house made buns are fresh and the perfect vehicle for everything going on with the flavors. Very filling! It's obvious that the food creators at Juicy Brew dedicated countless hours in balancing textures and maximizing flavors. Perfection! Vegan or carnivore, Juicy Brew is an absolute must try!
