It was nice to have a hotel that had a restaurant with great ambiance and even better dining! Level 5 indeed gets 5 stars in my book with the beautiful skyline dining, excellent craft cocktails, and delicious cuisine! Both dishes I ordered were equally delicious and cooked to mouth watering perfection. The first night I ordered the Filet Mignon of Beef. I didn't take a picture of it because it was room service but please take my word for it when I say it was every bit of tender deliciousness. The accompaniment of the truffled potatoes, mushroom strudel, and tender orange braised endive really took this dish to the next level. I'm not a big beef eater but I ate every bite of this dish leaving nothing to be spared. That's something else I appreciated about this restaurant, they served you just enough to leave you satisfied and not stuffed. My other dish was the Lobster Mousse Chicken Breast Ballotine and it was so good that I can still taste it. STILL. The chicken breast was so tender and juicy, which is rare because breasts are typically the dryer part of the chicken and often times overcooked. Not this dish. The chicken breast laid atop a flavorful lobster mousse and accompanied by a side of mashed potatoes with tender Brussel sprouts laying atop the dish. If I could recreate this dish I certainly would. Definitely a highlight of my stay. The drinks were expertly crafted. I highly recommend the Pueblo Pintado and the Sun Dagger. Both drinks were crisp and well blended. Pueblo Pintado has more of a sweet taste of blueberries and the Sun Dagger had more of a bourbon taste. You can't go wrong with either one of them so get both read more

We ate here last week on a work trip and had a great experience....the only hiccup was a little slow service but outside of that all was good. We sat outside and had a great view of the city and mountains and I would argue that it might be one of the nicest views of the city. For starter we had the crispy artichoke hearts, flatbread pizza and avocado hummus. Each of these were super delicious and would be hard to say which was my favorite, but the crispy artichoke hearts were pretty special. they were cooked like a crispy brussel sprout and really loved them. With that being said the prosciutto and mushroom flatbread was equally delicious. For dinner I had the crispy salmon with rice. Solid salmon dinner cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. Really great overall experience and would highly recommend Level 5 for any visitor or local looking for a great roof top restaurant. read more

The Views are ah-mazing & breathtaking! The bartender actually knew how to make a great New York Sour drink. The new menu is delicious , thanks to their new chef Marc. The carne asada elk is my new go to! The negative to this place, and why we don't come here often Is the customer service! We've waited 20mins plus for just water. The waiters literally make you feel like they don't want to be working here and look annoyed when asking questions about the menu. It's unfortunate! Management should consider getting training for their staff. read more

Great view, tasty food. But do NOT go there until they sh*tcan the thumpa-thumpa "designer sound" on the sound system and either turn the system off entirely, or play real music. Spoiled the evening! And never order the "special" without first asking the price! read more

Went to level 5 at 9:15. Last call was already made, turned us away despite being a hotel guest.

First time at Level 5, it was a little underwhelming to be honest. I was super excited to come based on other people's recommendation. While the food was excellent, the service was maybe a 2/5, we waited over an hour on a Thursday for a table, but once we were seated it took probably another 20 minutes to order and probably 40 minutes by the time we got the food. The flat bread we had as an appetizer was amazing, and the salmon entree was great minus the blue rice. The view was probably as good as you can get in Albuquerque, but it is perfect for a date night. read more

Great food, very good service, and amazing views at Level 5. We had dinner there on a Saturday night and sat outside. Hadn't been here for a couple years and would have given a much lower review in the past. But we decided on my birthday it was time to give Level 5 another chance, since we know it sometimes takes awhile for a restaurant to find its footing and figure out its identity. I am so glad we did. The bartenders, servers and manager were all fantastic. Made us feel welcome and appreciated. The food and drinks were spot on. And the atmosphere and views are still some of the best in town. Really pulling for Level 5 and highly recommend them. If you had a less than perfect experience in the past, it is time to give them another chance. Your expectations will be exceeded. read more

Tons of people working there yet terrible service! Two hosts & a hostess out front (not friendly). The female hostess was friendly, the other two were not. It seems as if the staff is trying way too hard too be edgy. Management needs to step in for some much needed customer service training. The food was good but the demeanor of the staff was awful. If you are looking for a snotty, unwelcoming place, this is it. We're staying here at the hotel and everyone else is so kind & welcoming, you get a much different vibe when you dine at this restaurant. Save your money & go else where. read more

Dishes as modern as art makes for one spectacular dining experience. I fell in love with their home made AGNOLOTTI PASTA sweet corn, ricotta cheese , green chili Hatch, Coriander & Parmesan...... Well, I really wanted to fall in love with this place but it just didn't happen. I'm only writing about the restaurant because the hotel and staff seemed lovely. The venue is very special with a great view. The food is pricey but it was good and certainly a place I'd go on a special occasion or take out-of-town guests. Unfortunately that is not likely to happen since the evening had so many disappointments. First of all, there were too many rules. If you want to sit inside, as we did, you needed a minimum number of people. We weren't sure of the number but I believe it was 6. Our party had 9, so we were okay but some other friends had to move outside. Also, when we called to confirm our reservation, they didn't have us listed. They said that it must have been taken by the front desk and not transferred to restaurant. That sounded like their problem. When we were seated and asked for separate checks, the waitress was annoyed and asked how many. What difference did that make? Did she have maximum? For the price we were paying, she should have said, ''Certainly, no problem!'' The menu is very small. According to their website, they had a prix fixe menu of 3 courses for $55; $75 with wine. There was no such thing. I asked the waitress about it and she said they hadn't had that since November. You'd think in 4 months they could have updated their website. When the food was delivered, only 8 of us received our meals. The 9th person had to wait quite a long time for their meal. I ordered the seared salmon with mussels. I don't like mussels so I asked if I could substitute. Again, her answer should have been, ''Certainly, no problem.'' It wasn't. (I blame that on the manager, not the waitress.) She was in process of telling me no when I asked her to ask the chef and if I couldn't substitute, just leave the mussels off and give me more of the other side dishes. That's what I ended up getting. Another problem was that I asked for my salmon to be cooked through, rather than just seared. When it arrived, it was not cooked in the center. However, two of my dinner companions who ordered the same dish had their fish cooked all the way through, which they had not requested. I would have thought that she mixed up the plates but their's had mussels and mine didn't. The saving grace for the restaurant was that the food was good and the venue was lovely. That brought imy rating up by one star. The experience there was like going to a restaurant that had just opened their doors, when in fact they've had plenty of time to get the kinks out. If this is going to be a top-notch restaurant, they need to be more flexible and put customers first. ''Certainly, no problem!'' read more

This place has a really good filet and amazing signature drinks! The only thing is that the hostesses always seem a bit snooty & unwelcoming when you approach the host stand, which is why I didn't give 5 stars. I know this is an upscale establishment and I stay at this hotel frequently when I travel for work, but I always kinda feel like they act like they're doing me a favor by letting me go sit at the bar alone without a reservation. I don't know if this done purposely or not to try to establish an aire of exclusivity, like the clubs with the velvet ropes that let a line form outside when the place is really empty inside, but it always rubs me the wrong way a bit. That being said, the place really does have good food and the bartenders who take care of me are always super nice which is the only reason I come back. read more

This rooftop was really a beautiful place to stop in for a drink! The view and vibe makes for a memorable night against the mountains! Thankfully, they have fire pits and warmers to keep you nice and toasty. The cocktails we tried were pretty decent & creative, but nothing out of this world. The only aspect I wish was better was the service, it was rather slow and we had to get up to get the servers attention multiple times. It was Just overpriced, over rated, hotel restaurant nonsense. Definitely do not recommend.

I ate at this place a couple years ago and it was very good, but my experience on Thanksgiving was JUST HORRIBLE. We made reservations and confirmed them twice more via the app and then again in a phone call for the price fixe Thanksgiving dinner ($50 per person) but when we got there, the hostess gave us a lot of word salad about how we had a reservation for three but "they" had only set aside a table for TWO and it was crammed in a dead corner of the bar. They ended up putting an extra chair at the table and we had to trap one of our party between the table and two corner windows. Looking around, I could see clearly that there was hardly anyone in the room and I could not figure out, for the life of me, what the problem was. It was a cold night and we had gotten chilled on the drive over, so we immediately asked for hot drinks. Two of us ordered the "Earl Grey" tea and one asked for pumpkin spice. We also requested milk and sugar to go with it. It took forever to get it. The waitress brought the tea in mugs, a container of warm milk and a tiny little container of tiny little paper flutes of sweeteners. I could not find any real sugar in the container. We were given nothing to put the tea bags onto when the tea was finished steeping and no spoons to press and remove the bags. We sat there while the tea got cold and finally gave up and one of us went to the bar and asked if we couldn't please get some sugar, etc. FINALLY the waitress showed up and we asked her for the things necessary. She fished out 3 little "real" sugar straws from the container, which amounted to about 1 tsp of sugar which was not enough for three mugs of tea. None of us wanted stevia or saccharine or the other fake sweetener that she had originally brought in response to our request for sugar. In answer to the request for a spoon to stir the tea and remove the bag, she presented me with a flexible wooden stick encased in paper! I was going to have to lift my sodden, drippy tea bag out of the mug without the use of any flatware and drip it across the table to deposit it onto some plate that she still needed to bring. At these prices, I expected the proper flatware. We still had to wait quite some time to get more containers of sugar and a plate on which to deposit the tea bags. When we FINALLY got to taste the tea, it was DREADFUL. It did not taste right to either one of us and we asked to see the bag. Eventually, the waitress brought it over and I read the bag. Some idiot thought cornflower leaves would be a good thing to put in "Earl Gray" tea. I was having a full blown allergic reaction to it. Both of us sent the tea back. My friend who had ordered the pumpkin spice tea really liked hers and asked for a second cup, and the waitress announced she would have to pay for a second tea bag, which seemed rather CRASS. The whole production was inelegantly done. The pumpkin soup arrived barely lukewarm. There was a little blob of creme fraiche in the middle that never incorporated itself into the soup because the soup was so cold. I've made better pumpkin soup at home and mine was hot. Dinner was also cold when it arrived. Two slices of turkey breast were laid over a couple tablespoons of wet slop that was not recognizable. The turkey was tender and flavorful and cold. 1/4 cup of green beans with a few pieces of sliced almonds on top were warm and perfectly done. I suspected that while the turkey and "dressing" had been sitting around, the green beans were prepared at our order. The mashed potatoes tasted fine but were lukewarm, as was the gravy that had been drizzled over everything. The cranberry sauce was "off." The color was very dark, the texture was odd and the taste was vaguely of rotten cranberries. I did not eat it. When the time came for desert, the waitress informed us that they had RUN OUT of the pumpkin cheesecake and she gave us the menu to pick something else. I did make the comment to her that since they knew we were coming, it did not seem reasonable that there wasn't any desert for us. She agreed. We all decided on the mascarpone cheesecake with cherries, and it was good. I suspect it was made elsewhere. A very disappointing experience at $50.00 per person. I won't return and I will tell others to steer clear. When my friends come into town, I will tell them not to eat there. read more

I didn't know what to expect going in for brunch, because I've heard the most mixed bag of reviews so far. Everything from "Best food EV-AR" to "McDonald's has better service". That's a pretty diverse scale, and I admit I was weary. I'm going to say, I hope it was just opening kinks because if every visit is like the one I had, I will be back. Constantly. Guys, a city view like theirs will hide A LOT of service sin. Biggest. Rooftop. Patio. Ever. It's got me aching for a gorgeous summer night. Albuquerque peeps love them some patio space, and I was HERE for it. The restaurant and corresponding patio (the patio has more square footage than the indoor space) are beautiful. Brand new, trendy with the right touch of comfort so it's still welcoming. Succulent planters, gorgeous wood accents. 5 stars on the aesthetics. The food really was great. Everything my girlfriends and I had was wonderful, flavorful, and we were in love with the presentations. Who doesn't want their fancy food served on a beautiful wood cutout?... no, but for real. Finally, the service (and the reason they can't have 5 stars). Yeah, I get it. Look, it was not busy at all when we arrived (there was a single table seated), but we waited in the entry without being greeted for almost 10 minutes. And then we were greeted like family members who dropped by to visit without calling. And our waitress seemed a little annoyed to be serving us. And it was dead. Translate that into a busy evening, and I believe every terrible service story this place has been given. So here's the thing. If they can turn their service mentality around from "you are lucky we let you grace our restaurant" to "we are so lucky to have you here in our awesome space", then Level 5 is going to be the hottest place to be for years to come. read more

I agree with many other reviews - the setting and the views are second to none. However, ever since the latest Chef took over, and converted the food from its previous format, the food quality has gone down despite the unsustainable, skyrocketing price adjustments. Sunday Brunches with music were once a highlight of my wife and my week. But then the menu changed and there is nothing 'normal' anymore. The current Chef must believe the more 'jacked-up' the food the better. Unfortunately, most customers would prefer a simpler recipe prepared well than an over-baked, over-sauced, over-New Mexican influenced dish. Know your customers - aka those who pay. Keep it simple. Ever since the new Chef's changeover, my wife and I have never been back - nearly three years. So sad, because this was once our favorite spot in ABQ for food. read more

First and foremost: this venue offers the best view of the city, bar none. And the layout confounded me a tad. Most patios in ABQ use the Sandia mountains as backdrop, but Level 5 offers an impressive panorama of the downtown area which, once the sun goes down, actually looks somewhat Bright Lights Big City -- which Albuquerque certainly is not. Just when you start thinking this metropolis might be maturing, you realize that you're standing on the fifth floor (Level 5) of a building and there isn't a single skyscraper obstructing your view. #babysteps After two visits, I'll echo what many visitors have noted: first impressions matter, big time. Exiting the elevator, you're going to wait for the host to seat you, and I've gotten the distinct impression that I've been, um, sized up? Dress code verified? at that point. It's certainly understandable, seeing as this venue raises the urban bar, but the employees have communicated the bias in an obvious way. Front-of-house service is critical, and I haven't gotten a good vibe at Level 5. That said, once seated, I've enjoyed the food and drink. Smart cocktails with local ingredients at anticipated Big City prices and solid, friendly servers. read more

Not sure what adjective applies. Disappointed? Frustrated? Perplexed? Had a same day reservation that we made in person while enjoying the deck. That is a highlight before sunset. When we returned for dinner, we were taken through a less than half full restaurant to the table that every restaurant has. You know it. The table that shouldn't exist. Squeezed in next to a point-of-sale system. Next to a constantly opening door with cold air spilling in. Next to the bar and kitchen. And Five has exactly that table. When we asked for something else in the half full restaurant we were politely offered outside, the bar or to take the bad table and possibly move if there were a cancelation, but, others booked weeks ago and the seat quality is ranked by longevity of reservation. Yeah. We had a great dinner at Seasons 52, and the previous night at Seasons around the corner from Five. Both recommended. But Five? No. It'd be different if they'd sought some balance for the customer who is there. A four top if you can be done by the next seating. But acknowledging that we were being given the worst table because we booked that day? At least note on the web site that failure to book before you know you'll be in town may result in a poor experience. read more

Three stars is generous. Decent drinks but the food is not up to expectations in terms of what you get (my "pasta" dish was rubbery fake enchiladas!), price, taste, etc. The manager didn't seem to care at all. My family, friends, and I were super excited to go to dinner here for my birthday. That didn't last very long unfortunately. The service was ok, manager was friendly as he had a baby recently and we brought our little one. Our server (Jessica I believe was her name) wasn't the best. On top of eating in the dark because they had 0 lamps and she told me "people keep stealing them". You all are a high end hotel and restaurant, I'm at my birthday dinner and have to eat In the dark? Yes we were outside but I expected lighting. I wish we were told that earlier then we would have picked in indoor table. By time we knew we had no other option but to eat holding our phone flashlights, the limited seating inside was taken. She didn't seem like she cared and it's not really enjoying eating a steak while holding a baby and flashlight. Needless it say we wasted over $600. Everyone still talks about the disappointment from food to service. If it wasn't my birthday and we didn't spend so much I wouldn't care. Wish we had a better experience. read more

Second time back, and still can't give a reason to change my 3 star rating. This place is the best hotel in town. It's a work of art inside, beautiful gift shops, amazing views, the best view in town. But that's not enough when most of your guests are from out of town and know what 5 star looks like. My number one peeve about this place is the service. I have worked in this business, so I am surprised the hotel has not worked with their employees to fix this. When guests are seated someone should come over with in a few minutes. Level 5 is expensive for Albuquerque, and you have your staff dressed like Alice in Wonderland characters or worse, yoga pants and tee shirts? Seriously?! This would never fly in a major city, one reason Albuquerque continues to always fall short, low standards. Not sure why there wouldn't be more sun shade, saw a few customers leave because of this. The food does not seem to be anything out of the ordinary, but sometimes trying to be so artistic, it falls short of expectations. Maybe I am missing the mark? The hotel remains full so why bother about the rest. Right? When you add up room costs and occupancy, the restaurant and bar are just extra. Albuquerque is lacking in really nice places to go with the expectations that people actually put shoes on and dress attire. It's a shame, as this hotel could bring back what is truly missing from this city. read more

I will say this place has views!! A coworker invited me to level 5 when we tried to have drinks on the 4th and virtually most places were closed! We went up when there were opening at 4 and were seated. They did have lots of reservations for people later in the afternoon for fire works, so we were in the safe as long as we scampered off by 6. I will say nothing really impressed me on their drink menu and I got half a drink for 14 bucks (sun dagger) --wasn't the best drink but wasn't bad. I also ordered shrimp spring roll, it was ok as well. The best thing about this place is the amazing outdoor seating and the views. My family and I had the pleasure of dining at Level 5 on Saturday, Oct. 5th, and our experience was nothing short of excellent. EJ, our waiter, made my father's 76th birthday celebration incredibly special. His warm and engaging personality truly stood out, and he provided the best wine pairing suggestions that perfectly complemented both our appetizer and main courses. EJ's professionalism and attention to detail were top notch, making the evening even more memorable. He also made sure we not only enjoyed the sunset on the west side of the restaurant, but also the firework show from the balloon fiesta on the east side of the restaurant. As a business owner myself, I can confidently say that EJ embodies the kind of personality and professionalism I would love to have on my team. Thank you, EJ, for making our night unforgettable! The food was amazing and well prepared. It was a very special treat when Sean the head chief visited our table and expressed his gratitude to our meal selection, and we were very excited to hear his future plans for everyones culinary experience. Amazing food and wonderful views . Great ambiance and the staff was great . Would definitely recommend it .

When my sisters planned our signature meal for a rare family gathering at Level 5 in ABQ I was really looking forward to the culinary experience. I had heard that the chef Sean Sinclair was highly acclaimed, and that the restaurant was a James Beard semi-finalist this year. The Hotel Chaco's ambience is undeniably breathtaking with its understated NM elegance, as is Level 5's decor and its views of the Sandia mountains. I fully expected the culinary experience to rival that of a few meals that we have had at Geronimo in Santa Fe or Ten 3 in ABQ. That was not to be. Though the appetizers were generally excellent, the two entrees we indulged in, the seared Halibut and Tres Tamalitos tamales, were seriously underwhelming. My sisters all had the Halibut. It was dry and not delivered warm. My guess is that it had been sitting for a while after preparation before our server delivered it to our table. It also had a very fishy odor. The Tres Tamalitos tamales were OK, but also not warm. The plate presentation was beautiful, but the flavors were muted because the food was cold. The server was very good and attentive, so everything about the experience was very satisfying, except the food. My wife and I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Napa Valley most of our adult lives, so we have been spoiled by the culinary riches of the best restaurants in San Francisco and Yountville. We have frequented many James Beard award-winning and Michelin Star restaurants, and while Ten 3 and Geronimo can be discussed in that company, our experience at Level 5 last night proved that they have a long way to go to measure up to their hype. It's possible that the kitchen had a bad night, but for a $550 tab for five meals, I'd rather that they be on their game when it is at my expense! read more

We had been hearing about this rooftop bar atop Hotel Chaco and decided to stop for a drink before dinner for a special celebration. It was even nicer than we imagined. She gave good advice on the wine and even though we didn't eat, made suggestions of things we might try the next time we came back. She also told us about a new wine bar that would be opening on the first floor of the hotel. She was a total delight and added positively to our experience at the bar. Even though we didn't eat, we saw some friends there that had ordered four different appetizers and they said they were great. We will go back there to hang out! I suspect it is beautiful after dark. read more
