A DJ was playing great mixes. The chicken was so good, not crazy about the hot honey or ranch but the other dipping sauce was very good. We ordered fries to go which were alright for the price, was not crazy about the spicy ketchup. Visited Gather on a Thursday as they opened at 5:00. It was our party of 4 and 2 at the bar. Service was lackluster it took almost 30 minutes for a drink order to be taken. I saw green chartreuse on the shelf and asked if the server knew of a green with envy, he didn't so I asked a "last word" substitute bourbon for gin, server scoffed made a face at me and asked if I was sure. I was, I know my favorite drink and how to order it as green chartreuse is a favorite. Food order was about another 20 minutes. I got the smash-burger, which came out cold and the meat was gritty and tough like it had been precooked and warmed up. Another member of our group ordered an old fashioned which they couldn't make because they were out of something... strange a bar that can't produce an old fashioned?? My drink was $27 and total bill $41 for a burger and drink served rudely. $27 for a mixed drink in Albuquerque is pretty steep. I wouldn't have minded the cost if service and quality were good. My husband and I visited after receiving a recommendation from a friend who knows the owner, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. All tables were occupied, so we were hoping to sit at the bar. There were enough open seats for us, and we intended to politely ask a couple if they would be willing to shift over by one seat. However, a staff member became visibly upset that we were standing nearby. Despite our attempts to explain the situation, the staff member spoke to us rudely and asked us to leave, stating that the restaurant was "fully committed." I left feeling extremely disappointed and hurt by how we were treated. There is a professional and courteous way to speak to people and this was not it. We went on a Wednesday night, where if you purchase a charcuterie board, you get a bottle of wine for half price! All of the cheeses and meats were lovely and paired well with our wine. Server was knowledgeable about both and very friendly and attentive. They've started doing speciality dinners, so follow their social for schedules. In the absence of my beloved Zinc, it's nice to have a stand by in Nob Hill for when we're feeling a little fancy. The ambience in this place is nice, and the food and drink too. It's definitely a serviceable replacement for its predecessor, the Nob Hill Bar and Grill. I had the Catch of the Day for $29. It was salmon, cooked to a nice medium rare, with a crisp to the outside and juicy inside. It was served over a bed of delicately shaved zucchini in some sort of pesto-esque sauce. Husband had the $21 hot beef sandwich, which was disappointingly light on the advertised horseradish, but the beef was pleasingly flavorful, he said. We had a starter of bread and butter than was too lackluster to merit the $6 price tag, but a very reasonably priced coffee and chocolate cake for dessert (it came nestled beside a yummy dollop of pudding). It was rich enough that I couldn't even finish my share of it! The cocktails were... eh. My Pimm's Cup tasted like a lime squeeze, with little other defining flavor. Next time I'll try the sangria.... Always looking for a tasty sangria! Husband got the Gin Rickey, which he neither complained nor raves about. All in all, it didn't quite hit the Zinc standard, alas. (Gawd, I miss Zinc!) But I'd say it fared well enough as its own Little neighborhood spot to get a little more sophistication from your dinner date than fish n chips. I hope this place succeeds, as Nob Hill is getting disconcertingly bad at sustaining long-term businesses! I think it could benefit from one or two stellar menu superstars. Visited Gather on the 22nd of June for an early dinner. We are from out of town but visit ABQ frequently for business. There are plenty to good restaurants in ABQ, but not many great ones! Gather is GREAT!! Chef Joe is extremely creative both in his presentation of his dishes as well as the flavors he creates. It's small plate style so even two people can try many things. And you'll want to here! There's some New American, Mexican and Japanese influences in his dishes. They're all fused together very nicely. We often like to allow our server to order if we feel they can do it. Our server was awesome and it was clear she could deliver. She recommended the following: - Crudite & Dip - We thought "vegetables & dip"? But this was not your mom's vege tray for the family potluck! All I can say is see the photo! Just amazing! - Hamachos (Hamachi Nachos) - Yes you heard that right, yellow tail sashimi nachos! Tough to describe, but again, see the pic. Also amazing! - Pork Belly skewers - some of the best pork belly I've had! Moist & flavorful, but not too fatty. Very good with the puree underneath it. I think it was eggplant? See pic. - Beef Tataki - perfectly cooked tenderloin, moist and very flavorful as well! See pic. - The Baked Potato - Was too excited so forgot to take a pic. But it's not your normal baked potato. Kind of cross between a large tater tot meets a twice baked potato. Again, so good and creative!! - Lemon Thyme Olive Oil cake - Simple and delicious. A great finale to a terrific meal. We've been waiting for this place to open since we first saw the sign a while back. I was very excited to try it after going to 3128 Social House next door. We walked in and were told it was open seating and went to a table that hadn't been bussed yet, so the server cleaned it off for us. We sat down and she immediately asked us what we wanted for drinks but we hadn't even looked at the menu yet so we asked for a few minutes. Those minutes turned into about 15 and people who came in after us were helped and given drinks before we were. Finally one of the other servers came over and took our drink orders. He was very kind. After that we were asked about drinks by another server, still never seeing the first person who helped us. The drinks took a hot minute to come out but they were delicious! I started with the Lavender Bee Tea and it was so unique and refreshing. My next drink was the Bees Knees and it was so tasty. They have something called a buzz button that makes your mouth numb and it was such a unique experience. The original server came back and explained it to us and they became very friendly and open (completely different from when we first arrived). For food we ordered the chicken croquettes (heaven in a ball) and a 7 piece charcuterie board with the servers choice of meats and cheeses. The board was super tasty. We weren't originally satisfied with the service so we went next door to 3128 social house. The owner came over after seeing a previous Yelp review about our experience at Gather and made the moment right. What a joke. Treated horribly by the owner and asked to leave for asking a question. Complete asshole. Will not return and will not recommend. Follow up to the response; We were a party of 9. Mature adults, not rambunctious 20 year olds. We were dressed up for a 40th bday. We had only been in the bar about 45 minutes when another couple showed up but were not allowed in. The bar had 3 booths open and half the long table. It was NOT crowded. I went out to the lobby and asked to speak to who had blocked them. I was trying to be nice, to try to shmooze and butter up whomever I needed to to get them in. So I simply asked why our friends (dressed well for a night out) couldn't come in. The man (who introduced himself as 'the owner' said, "Because I'm the owner and I said so. If you don't like it you can leave." I was dumbfounded and immediately felt like maybe I had come off too strong, so I reeled it in and softened my approach even more. But it was to no avail. This guy is not a people person and has no business working in customer service. I pity the people who work for him. Epilogue: We decided to kick ourselves out. We walked down the street to a speakeasy, who couldn't get us in but was super nice about it, shook my hand and told me to call him next tome and he would get us in. The next place was perfect. This time we pulled together a charcuterie board for "half-price wine Wednesdays" and paired it with Octave Vinho Verde - a perfectly drinkable summer wine from Portugal with just a hint of effervescence on the tongue, recommended by co-owner Dustin. We also enjoyed the unctuous Beef Cheeks served in a beautiful Yorkshire Pudding just dripping with a zesty horseradish sauce. And of course, the Chicken Croquettes - I doubt I'll ever put my butt in one of their chairs without ordering a plate of those. I'll let other reviewers go on and on about the decor and ambiance... the food is my passion, and clearly theirs as well. Nota bene: 3128 Social House next door is now open. Stopped by at 3128 Social House for dinner last night, and they did not miss. I ordered a Pineapple Express, a good mix between strong and sweet. We ordered onion rings as an appetizer, and believe me when I say they are amazing. They are tempura fried, the sauce with them is probably one of the best sauces I've had. I got a burger and fries, which although it may appear simple is flavorful with every bite, they let you customize and add avocado, over easy eggs, or jalapeño to it - it also comes with a garlic aioli that is great. We had great service, our glasses were never empty, and they checked in with us at every step of our meal. I have been waiting for this lovely place to open in Nob Hill and when I was searching for a spot open late with drinks and small food items this was the first option. Walking in the place it feels very New York style and elegant. The bartender was very nice and gave us a few recommendations as far as cocktails go. I went with a wine, it's very rare you can find places that serve Malbecs and when I tasted this wine it was spectacular. The thing I loved the most about this place was that they had different options then just basic beers, wines etc. The food menu was also very interesting lots of options for different flavor pallets. We ended up ordering a charcuterie board that you could pick your own items which I thought was awesome. Everything from the toasted bread to the different variety of cheese was outstanding. I think we need more places like this that are open later for a late night cocktail and some small bites. I am giving 5 stars because it exceeded my expectations! read more

She hit the nail on everything we were wanting. She listened to us and then suggested food and cocktails that would appease us. Our server succeeded! Food and drinks; It is a tapas spot so don't expect big portions. With that being said the tapas were great! We even got the charcuterie board and each meat and cheese has a story and not just your normal meat and cheese. The cocktails were so tasty and the descriptions explained the cocktail very well. Overall experience was great! Didn't expect this from just coming out of the airport and looking on Yelp to find somewhere that was open at 930 pm (majority of restaurants and bars closed at 8 or 9 pm.
