The seafood is a bit on the saliter side but very flavorful and tasty. The meats are a bit on the chewer side and not much meat. I would recommend coming here for the seafood items if you love seafood. Service is really good and the staff is friendly. Let's Grill would be a good place to eat and chit chat with friends. I have no idea why it's taken me so long to check out LETS Grill but I'm happy with the recent fluctuation of Northern Chinese joints opening up in town. This one is Northeastern Chinese food and they specialize in BBQ skewers. Nestled in the same plaza as Syphay, Tropika, Yumioca, blink and you'll probably miss it. I like how they have all their menus displayed on their front windows so you can take a look before you walk in. Lunch combo ($10.99) seems like a pretty good deal to me! They also have a couple dinner combos for 2, 3, 4 and 6 that are well priced. Worth a consideration if you don't know what to order. The menus are slick. I've never seen such fancy, innovative menus, especially coming from a Chinese restaurant. Unroll the scroll and you're presented with the menu. Lots to choose from: soups, salads, cold cuts, skewers, noodles and snacks. - Spicy sour chicken ($9.99) - we were originally going to get the spicy beef but changed our minds and went with the spicy sour chicken. Brilliant because this was bomb. The spicy sour sauce was so tasty that J and L ordered a plain bowl of rice ($1.99) to soak up all the extra sauce. This is a cold dish, very well executed. - Lamb and beef kebab ($19.99 for 10) - there was a promotion going on for the lamb skewers. Buy 5, get one free. We'll take it! Both skewers had a nice cumin/Asian spice rub on them but the beef was hands down our favourite. Incredibly tender and just melted in your mouth. - Grilled squid ($9.75) - I'm normally a fan of grilled squid but these we weren't too gung ho about. The sauce slathered on top was way too sweet and distracted from the squid flavour itself. The grilled squid I had at Fuqing Lanzhou Noodle was much better. The squid was grilled well but for two pieces, I didn't think it was worth the price point. - Grilled enoki mushrooms ($6.25) - enoki mushroom is one of my favourites and grilling it just accentuates the flavour. Portion size was pretty reasonable. - Grilled eggplant with garlic sauce ($5.75) - the eggplant was perfectly grilled and that garlic sauce, woahhhhhh. It's really, really garlicky. Garlicky goodness. Just be prepared for a smothering of garlic sauce. - Handmade dumplings ($9.99) - whenever I take L and J out for Asian food, dumplings are non-negotiable. You get 12 pieces in an order. We could tell these were homemade and steamed to order. Really liked the skin on these and a little bit of soup inside was icing on the cake. The two sauces, chili oil and soy, were great to dip the dumplings in. - Spicy beef noodle ($8.99) - L was super excited for their spicy beef noodle soup based on the picture but it turned out to be pretty mediocre. I can't pinpoint exactly what the broth is based from but it tasted like Chinese black beans to me. The broth was lacking any real depth or complexity to it. The beef was good but I wished they had thrown in a few vegetables to balance things out. I know, I know, this is Chinese style so vegetables are rare. That being said, the noodles also didn't have any spring or density to them. So it was a miss for us. Overall, we were happy with our meal but you have to choose wisely when you're ordering a la carte. Some skewers were worth the price point, otherwise not so much. It was pretty dead when we went on a Thursday evening so hope they get a better turnout. I'd easily go here over Tropika any day. read more

Downright delicious is an understatement! Not very often in Edmonton do you find an authentic Chinese experience, and trust me (as a well-travelled individual) I can safely attest to the authenticity and care that this place puts into the put experience! Not only do they have a makeshift 'grill' to keep the food warm on your table to activate the desired spice level on the succulent kebabs (i had the lamb and spicy shrimp), but the waitress was also knowledgeable enough to recommend the exact spicy beef noodles and garlic grilled oysters! The Oysters were so big and juicy with the lemon garlic juice that they were marinading in post-grilling, I had to take a pic using my chopsticks for perspective (see pic). Server and ambience were unrealistically on point! So unrealistic that I almost took off my 3D glasses after leaving this restaurant! Highly recommended! Just do it! We came here for dinner because my boyfriend is currently on a Groupon buying rampage and this was one of the highly rated restaurants on there. Unfortunately, the $40 Groupon was for 4 people and it was just the 2 of us but everything looked so delicious we just went with it. Boyfriend got grilled oysters and I got grilled yam chips to kick things off before we got down and dirty with the skewers. Boyfriend said oysters were delicious, and I can confirm that the chips were delicious. They were sprinkled with sugar oh my goodness, I wasn't expecting something so delicious. Onto the skewers...we got flank steak (10 for $10!!), Harbin sausage, pork belly, honey BBQ chicken, chicken gizzards, fish balls and shrimp balls. We ate every single one, and I couldn't say a bad word about any of them. The steak was my favourite because it was so juicy and the spices they throw on there were so perfect that I could have died after eating them and been perfectly content. The pork belly was a close second because that fat was rendered so well that it was not chewy and gross like some places. After we had finished our skewers, the owner brought us an order of honey toast (glbread with honey and condensed milk thrown on the grill!!) on the house! Such a nice gesture and it was absolutely delicious, a great way to end our perfect meal. The staff were fantastic and you can tell the owner is very serious about making sure everyone has a very enjoyable, delicious meal. If you're interested in trying out some dishes that aren't commonly found in a Chinese restaurant, then check this place out. You won't find any run-of-the-mill stir fried dishes here. The food here is rustic and simple, and packs a flavourful punch. The food is quite distinctive from other southern Chinese cuisine as well, characterized by hearty, savory flavours based heavily on garlic, soy, ginger, garlic, scallion and even more garlic. Let's Grill offers meat skewers that adds a new flavour dimension to kebabs. It's almost like a marriage of middle-eastern and Chinese flavours. The cumin certainly stood out the most--the tender lamb chunks were visibly coated in cumin seed--but the other ingredients in the marinade were present in the exterior of the meat as well, delivering an addictive, exciting Northern Chinese flavor experience. Get some steamed rice, crushed cucumber salad, Yanjing beer, and you're good to go. Ask Burton, the super friendly restaurant owner, for more recommendations if you're feeling more adventurous. Chinese tapas is a concept I can get behind. The food was delicious and unique. We went with a group and tried a bit of everything, including pork skin and chicken heart (which was surprisingly good). My favourite dishes were the cucumber salad, house chicken wings, handmade dumplings (super yummy!) and leeks. It's evident the owner is very proud of the food and restaurant. He was a great host and you want him to be successful. The restaurant itself is pretty basic but the food and service more than make up for the decor. Came here on a whim because Groupon showed us they had a deal nearby - so why not? It was a very quiet Friday evening around 8pm and it was just us and 2 other couples. The server was great at explaining the menu (though they had some things on the menu that they weren't sure what it was, so they told us not to order it). They had a special that evening for lamb and beef skewers if you bought 10 at a time of each, at $1.50 each rather than $2 each. I thought it'd be more like a Korean bbq place where you grilled your own food, but everything came out pre-cooked and then the grill plate on your table keeps it warm. Unfortunately, they're lit by tea lights and 3 out of 4 of our candles went out pretty early on. The food itself came out really fast once it started coming. Everything tasted really good, but portion sizes for skewers were definitely small. We tried beef, lamb, pork belly, crispy pork skin, spicy shrimp (these came out whole with the head on, just an FYI for anyone who may be put off by that), tofu fish balls and honey bbq pork. House wings were recommended and they were just ok. We also ordered the eggplant and the enoki mushrooms - both of which were quite large in portion and I would highly recommend. The spicy beef noodles was a soup (I thought it might be a stir fry) and wasn't great - very oily and bland. Overall, I'd say it was a different experience that was kind of neat to try. Portions for the meat were small, but the vegetables were decent. Half an eggplant for $5.25 and a bowl of rice would have made me very happy! It was pretty expensive for what it was - for two of us, with a $20 discount from the Groupon, still came out to about $90 after tax and tip and I wouldn't say we're super huge eaters. Visited approx 7:30pm on Saturday night. This is a small place located in a plaza with ample free parking. Our waitress was very friendly. We ordered a bowl of the dumpling drop soup which my hubby wasn't fond of the tomatoes but I liked it. We started with a mix of assorted meat skewers and was surprised how little meat was on them. Makes sense why they sell by sets of 5 or 10 skewers. Since it was our first time we ordered single skewers to try before ordering in sets. For those of you who follow my reviews, you'll know my big hang up is over salting my food. I'm ok with strong seasonings if salt prevails, then I'm not actually tasting the food itself. Do note that we found the food to be very salty. The skewers were tasty but this saltiness detracted from the enjoyment. We also had a side order of eggplant which was deelish and enoki mushrooms. We asked for a bowl of hot water which we used to rinse some of the soy sauce off the mushrooms. Overall, this was a less than average meal at $100 for 4 people and I'd not seek this out again. However, I'd not deter anyone from trying it once as they were pleasant and attentive. Perhaps there are other dishes that are better than what we had. read more

I've been here 4 times now. Their Mushroom Jin Zhen Gu and Lamb kabobs (Kao Yang Rou Chuan) are unreal good. This has become one of those places I start to crave the food for. Tried to come here last night right shortly after they opened. Was ready to order by about 5:20, but server didn't see us -and took orders for two other tables - not a big deal, we figured it wouldn't be too long since here were only 4 tables at the restaurant. 45 min later, those first two tables had received all their food and so did a third table that sat down and ordered after us - and we had not received a single item. Asked the server about it - apparently if you don't make a reservation, they make the food for all the tables that had reservations first (even if those other tables came in and ordered after). The 1st (eat-in) visit: We went there for dinner because of a $40 Groupon for 4 people. Presented the groupon, about to order and was told that since we have only 3 person, we can't use the full $40 of the Groupon. We explained that our 4th person couldn't come, and the staff told us that we can use $20 of the $40 and he will give the balance of $20 in gift card. Okay we were fine with that. We order some skewers (flank steak, pork belly, and BBQ chicken), beef tataki and steam rice. The food was good overall, but we will not be coming back again. This is why. Come time to settle the bill, for whatever reason, the bill needed to be split into two separate bills because the beef flank 10 for $10 can't be the same bill as the rest of the order. Okay, so we paid credit card but was told that they don't take credit card, try to pay with $100 bill but they don't have change, okay so finally we use debit and they accepted. At this point we should have left and save ourselves the hassle, but we didn't. Being a good patron, asked about the 2nd bill which comes out to ~$50 (minus the groupon) and the gift card. Took them sometime but they did eventually sort it out and gave us the $20 gift card. Here it is, a few days later, 2nd (take-out) visit: We decided to use the $20 gift card, it require us to order $50 worth of food which we did as we order the exact same items as our last visit. Time to pay, they didn't want to let us to use the gift card, apparently no gift card allowed for the beef flank. Are you kidding me??? So after some discussions they did end up letting us use the gift card. This time, we were able to use our credit card to pay. LETS Grill opened close to work, so we go there frequently. Always a treat, great tasting flavorful food, friendly staff (two of which are the owners)combos and select items for lunch or dinner. I have tried most of the offerings, I do have my favorites though, very difficult to prioritize tender and juicy items on the menu.
