Yummy food for an affordable price! Got the trio kebab plate and it was a big enough plate to share between 2-3 people. The hummus on the plate was so good and the meat was marinated really well. While dining inside, you also receive pita on the side which was nice and warm. Service was friendly too! Recommend coming here to dine family style so you can try a bunch of things!

staff: the staff at Turquaz are always friendly and helpful and greet you with a warm smile. service: always quick service! Always coming by to check in and ask if we need anything or to top up beverages. establishment: nice large location with many tables. They have nice big windows. There's a bit of an indoor play park for the kids. Plenty of parking! food: delicious! Flavourful! We eat here regularly and our two boys love their various dishes! Such generous portions - we always have left overs!

Today, we visited the Turquaz Kabab House in Edmonton. The server, Fatima, possessed extensive knowledge of the menu. We were thoroughly satisfied with the food quality and the exceptional service provided by Fatima.

I don't venture "north of the wall" very often but when I do it's usually for food. Such was the case on a recent Saturday evening when I visited the seemingly undisputed hot spot in town for Turkish and Lebanese cuisine. Open since 2011, Turquaz Kebab House has become a unique meeting place for families of all cultures and a cornerstone in the community. You'll find the restaurant in the Pembina neighbourhood, and yes, it's quite far north. I kept hearing about Turquaz Kebab repeatedly! They were named as the Best Restaurant North of the Core on CBC Edmonton's Best Restaurants 2019 list. And they're an Edmonton Journal darling, winning Best Lebanese Restaurant 2020 and Best Middle Eastern Restaurant 2020, Best Middle Eastern Restaurant 2021, and Favourite Lebanese Restaurant 2022 and Favourite Middle Eastern Restaurant 2022. I had to get the full experience for myself! The first thing that I noticed is that the restaurant is very large! A palace of Middle Eastern cuisine! You can't possibly miss their giant glowing sign with flames on the side. The expansiveness continues on the inside with multiple dining areas and even a huge water feature. They even have a prayer room and a wudu room. You might catch a glimpse of the busy open kitchen while on your way to your table and the friendly and attentive staff is helpful and prompt. I especially loved all of the beautiful and colourful Turkish mosaic lamps hanging all around the space. Once seated in a comfortable booth, I noticed that the restaurant filled up quite quickly with customers at every table. I loved seeing the multicultural clientele - Turquaz is clearly an inclusive and special place for anyone who enjoys delicious food. Turquaz focuses on top quality halal meats and products and the menu is fairly easy to follow because each item comes with a picture. To place your order you must go up to the front (which was somewhere else in a different room) and then the food is brought to your table. It's a bit of a fast-casual concept with more of a lean toward table service. It was too late in the day for a Turkish coffee so I opted for whatever seemed the most authentic, which was a drink called Ayran ($3.75). I had no idea what to expect. I didn't know if it would be a carbonated beverage or something else entirely. I didn't expect what I got (but I probably should have). It was similar to kefir, a cold savoury yogurt-based beverage. What I couldn't believe is how much of it I got - the cup was giant! I could never possibly drink it all myself! Imagine a thin, liquidy, unsweetened plain yogurt and you'll be on the right track to understanding this drink. It's quite tart but enjoyably creamy. You probably don't need an entire one all to yourself. We saw a few orders of Turkish Bead ($1.50 per piece) go by and we definitely wanted to have some of our own. I'd also heard that the Soup ($7.95) was excellent. The restaurant bakery uses an in-house stone oven for fresh and steamy baked goods, and I have to say that the Turkish bread was a huge highlight. Served with haydari (similar to tzatziki) for dipping, I loved these huge pillows of soft, warm, oven-fresh bread. It was the size of my face and when I ripped mine apart I was absolutely met with the promised steaminess from within. Simple and delicious, I loved the tangy haydari and each bite of warm, chewy bread. The soup, known as ezogelin soup, or lentil soup, was like a warm hug. Hearty and made with bulgur and red lentils, I liked the flavour profile which reminded me a bit of a roasted red pepper type of flavour. Think of a pea soup but with more of a kick. The bread and soup combo would make for a really lovely lunch all on its own. As a kebab house, you would be correct in assuming that there are many different types of kebab meats on the menu, all grilled to perfection on real charcoal. Let's do a kebab roundup! Turquaz serves; beef, chicken, lamb, kafta (ground beef), adana (ground lamb and beef), and taouk adana (ground chicken). For my main dish I went full platter. Lamb is one of my favourite meats so the Lamb Kebab (Two skewers of specially marinated Alberta lamb grilled on real charcoal served with sides of rice, fries, hummus, garlic sauce, fresh garden salad and pita bread - $24.95) seemed like an obvious choice. I love that each plate comes with so many different accompaniments, however, mine did not come with any pita bread. The lamb itself was tender and delicious. I could really taste the grilled charcoal flavour. I could have used for the pieces to have been cooked slightly less well-done but the overall flavourful experience was very good. I found the white rice to be fairly plain, although I was pretty happy about the fries! They were tasty and crispy, and even though their presence seemed a bit odd at first, I was happy that they were included. The hummus was excellent, as was the garlic sauce, and I enjoyed dipping both my lamb and fries into both. Be prepared to remove yourself f

Wow. I can't even count how many times I've driven down 137 and noticed the sign for this place- it's been years and years.... I recently dined at a different kebab/shawarma place... and I have to say, this beat it ten fold. First of all, this is a lot of food. $25 for a plate sounds like a lot until you realize that the husband and I could have shared this, actually. That said, it was so freaking good that I definitely ate enough for two people. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I honestly will be back for the chicken, and chicken alone. It was juicy and seasoned beautifully. The 'garlic' dip was so tasty! We only received one though, and both of us selected it with our order. Loved dipping the chicken in it. The hummus was very flavourful and tasty. The salad was refreshing!!! Everything was wonderful, and I think this is probably the best kebab place I've experienced. Now I'd like to check it out for a dine-in.... If it was this good for take-out, I'm sure dining in is unreal.

    We have tried almost everything

Again it was an excellent experience .. we were a family of six.. they have all kind of food.. amazing service

After a long day of hard renovation labour, the wife decided to treat us to a delicious kebab dinner. We got it delivered to our place, and they forgot a garlic sauce in our order However, the amount and taste of the food made up for it. The chicken was cooked to perfection! And the lamb was delicious as well. Usually when you get lamb it is very fatty. This was excellent quality lamb. Everything was flavored really well as well! Definitly the best kebabs I have had on the Northside thus far. Would love to dine in next time!

I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time and I finally did last weekend. This place has been hyped by various Instagram foodies over the years and I would say it's worth the hype. I ordered takeout and it's currently 10% off when you order takeout directly from their online website right now. It was super easy and my food was ready within 15 minutes. They will text you when the food is ready. I ordered the Chicken thigh plate and the Kafta kebab plate from their main dishes menu. The portions were huge and I wasn't able to finish. Perhaps I'll opt for their lunch menu next time for a smaller portion. Food was so yummy. Meat was very flavourful and grilled nicely. Rice and fries were seasoned well and the garlic sauce was the perfect topping. The whole meal was very enjoyable. You can even pick to have extra pita on the side with no extra charge. I would definitely recommend this place if you haven't tried it yet. I'm likely coming back again in the future.

Wonderful kebabs. Ordered the trio kebab (forgot the exact name of the dish). It contains chicken, lamb and kefta. Chicken was perfectly grill, and still tender. Kefta flavour was spot on. Lamb was a bit tough but still perfectly seasoned. Served with brown rice, fries, pita and salad. I personally find the salad has too much parsley to my personal taste but still pretty good. I ordered take out so the entire was not as hot when I received it. But for sure it will taste better if I dine in at the restaurant. One of the best local find.

It's a very interesting restaurant! It was like I was beamed to another country as soon I walked in. Some people may not enjoy that but I really enjoyed feeling the middle eastern atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, the food was very good and beyond my expectations and based on the quality of the food and the prices, it was a great value! Parking was not an issue and we could easily get a table at a busy time. The staff were very polite and helpful and I will definitely go back there again! :)

I found this restaurant after a quick Yelp search and it did not disappoint. We were seated right away with menus. This is a cafeteria set up. You go to the cashier to place your order. Food gets dropped off to your table afterwards. There was complimentary bread and tzatziki dip. I ordered a lamb and kafta kebabs platter. The meat was so juicy and flavourful. The fries were pipping hot and crispy. The salad was fresh. The rice was more carbs to go with the kebabs. The hummus and yogurt were very good. It was a nice variety to try a bit of everything.

The Trio plate. The rib eye beef is hiding behind the massive Kafta skewer.

I was first introduced to Turquaz Kebab House by a friend when this restaurant was still located at 127 Street NW and 140 Ave NW. This new location is not only brighter and more spacious, but I can genuinely say that the quality of the food has gotten better since moving to this new location. I have gone to this the Turquaz Kebab House many times and whenever I bring new friends here. I always recommend a plate. You cannot go wrong with a chicken shawarma or a Kafta plate. It is a lot of food so please come with an appetite. A plate is served with a hearty scoop of rice, fries, salad and your choice of meat. Definitely, cannot go wrong with eating here. You will wish you had tried this place earlier.

One of our favourite northside spots for a casual meal. If you dine in you get a basket of hot, soft bread & dip you don't get for take out. But with take out, it feels like you get more of the fries & rice sides. You can choose your sides - default is white rice, fries & salad for everything. I usually skip the fries and go 1 white rice & 1 brown. My (healthier) friends like going 3x salad. You do you. Lunch can be ordered all day - it's a few dollars cheaper for the same amount of sides and less meat. Chicken thighs & shawarma are our favourites, but honestly, everything is yummy (the falafels are a skip for me, though). Fountain pop machine is the Coke one with all the flavour shots you can add yourself. I did notice that prices have increased by a few dollars across the board recently - lunch plates are now $14 and regular plates are $20ish.

I'm someone who will drive to any corner of the city (and beyond) in the name of food and this was…read moreevident when I recently found myself in The Palisades, an area that is just about as far north as you can get in Edmonton (and no where remotely close to where I live). If the Edmonton Journal is going to name Paramount Fine Foods as the Best Lebanese Restaurant 2021, I'm gonna try it! I made the trek across town on a Sunday evening, looking forward to the authentically fresh flavours of the Middle East that Paramount boasts about so enthusiastically. Founded in 2007 by Mohamad Fakih, a Lebanese-Canadian entrepreneur, the first Paramount Fine Foods location opened in Mississauga, Ontario. The company now comprises of over 75 restaurants, becoming the fastest-growing Middle Eastern food chain in Canada. You'll find Edmonton's location in a rather large complex on the edge of town. (Not kidding, you can see the empty fields nearby.) The restaurant's modern exterior and tall stature includes a small patio space in the front before entering into the expansive interior. I was surprised by the spacious, airy dining area designed with taste in mind. Dark wood, tiled columns, and pops of rich colour set the stage for what feels like a higher-end dining experience. I noted some interesting features in the space which included a kids playground (I swear that this place isn't a defunct McDonald's) and a prayer room. Paramount was quite quiet on our visit and our server was gracious and attentive. The menu is a lot larger than I would have expected and I enjoyed flipping through its colourful pages; from starters, to salads, to wraps and mains. Plus platters that are perfect for large groups and even breakfast on the weekends! (I'm super intrigued about the breakfast and would love to try it!) As one does, I started my journey with a drink and zeroed in immediately on something called the "Paramount Special." It sounds like the thing to get! Topped with almonds, crushed pistachios, ashta cream and honey, I really wanted to try this epic beverage! However, our server regrettably informed me that they couldn't make it. It wasn't clear why but I assume that they didn't have all of the ingredients on hand? This was honestly the only low point of the entire meal. Instead, I settled for Strawberry Mango Juice (A blend of fresh mango and strawberries - $8.99). The drink actually took quite some time to arrive, meanwhile almost all of the rest of our food showed up before it did. However, it was worth the wait because this blend of fresh lush mangoes and ripe juicy strawberries was wonderful. You could tell that the beverage contained real fruit and I enjoyed the swirling kaleidoscope of bright colours. The rest of our order was delivered to the table lightening-quick! The feast began with the Mezza Plate (Choice of three: world-famous hummus, moutabbal, labneh, muhammara, or tabbouleh - $13.99) which seemed like a great option to try a variety of Paramount's dips. Served with the most pillowy freshly baked homemade pita bread, straight out of their wood-burning oven! I honestly could've set my head down on one of those pitas and had a nap. In choosing our dips we went for the Moutabbal, Muhammara, and Labneh. (We did not select the hummus because it was included in something else that we ordered and we opted out of the tabbouleh because we were already ordering a different salad.) Circling back to the pita bread, it arrived warm and fluffy. Tearing off pieces and using it to scoop up the various dips was a complete joy. The Moutabbal, made with fire roasted eggplant blended with tahini and garlic and topped off with fresh parsley, extra virgin olive oil, and fresh pomegranate seeds, felt familiar. Very similar to baba ganoush. However, ours was not topped with parsley or pomegranate seeds as described. Regardless, I loved the true fire-roasted flavour of the eggplant which came through in such a bold and beautiful way. Next was the Muhammara, made with fire roasted red peppers, crushed mixed walnuts, zesty onions, authentic spices, and herbs and topped off with extra virgin olive oil and parsley. (There was no parsley.) This was the dip that I knew the least about... And that I loved the most! The flavour was big and exciting and I loved the nuttiness! This one was an unexpected surprise and I would order it every time. Lastly, the Labneh, made with thick creamy labneh (a type of yogurt cheese) mixed with garlic, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, and topped off with their authentic zaatar seasoning, was also familiar. (Shout out to The Happy Camel, who's labneh I often purchase!) The version at Paramount was very enjoyable and I loved the creamy-cool texture. I swear that I could taste some mint in there as well. Some of the best salads come out of the Middle East - think tabbouleh and fattoush - and I had to order the latter to add some greens to the table. Paramount's Fattoush ($12.99) seemed like the way to go. I lov

"Not so elevated Middle Eastern Cuisine"…read more A terrific visit last November was memorable enough to have us crave Paramount Fine Foods while in Edmonton this evening. The big sign has the slogan " Elevated Middle Eastern Cuisine " thus raising the expectations we have had,, stemming from dozens and dozens of previous Paramount visits In Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver over the years... The decor is still very nice, four+ years or so after this Edmonton branch's opening; - modern, fast yet casual with table service. Tonight, the service was at times very slow and curt. We started with the lentil soup ($7.99) which came in a lovely ceramic bowl with deep fried pita chips. The soup was not liquidy; it had a very thick, "pudding-like" consistency and was super salty. It was definitely not fresh and appeared like it could have been reheated after being withdrawn from a cold, refrigerated bucket; not good. Next came the beef pie - which was nothing but a thin layer of ground beef on way too much dough ($6.99). Paramount is famous for its tabuli salad and of course we ordered it! (($10.99). Once it arrived to our table, we were shocked at the look of wilted parsley and the lack of dressing (it needed more tomatoes, lemon juice and olive oil to revive it); total dissapointment. "Elevated cuisine" means that you would assemble the salad as it is ordered for maximum freshness; ours tasted like it was sitting in a refrigerated tub for several days; no! No! No! The main course, the bbq beef platter ($22.99) had seven tiny yet very tender sirloin steak cubes; the remainder of the plate had a lot of filler rice and pickled beets, dill, onions and a 2 oz container of humus; very good yes - but the portion of meat was tiny for the price. The star of the meal was definitely the shareable dessert: The knnaffe Nablusieh ($9.99): It is a subtly sweet baked cheese dessert topped with baklava style shredded filo strips and pistachios; and then, it is drenched in syrupy rose water; this lived up to what Paramount is known for in Ontario - simply delicious!!!!!! With the abundance of similar eateries in Edmonton, Paramount Fine Foods didn't live up to its slogan as, during tonight's visit, there was nothing " elevated " about its Middle Eastern cuisine. Hopefully, they will get it together moving forward - so the quality of the food served at this branch can actually live up to their founding Ontario roots. Here at this Edmonton Paramount, The higher menu prices do not match the overall very average experience offered... we know Paramount Fine Foods has the ability to "wow" us; maybe next time!

Food came out a bit on the slow side, but it was really busy in there. Food was flavourful. My husband and I got a complimentary soup which was rich in taste. My fish was perfectly grilled, and it came with a boatload of seasoned rice. Hubby's kababs were spicy and delicious and came with the same rice as I but also a side salad and hummus and pita. I was looking for a place for lunch and drove past Maghawee Lebanese Grill and turned around…read more Lebanese fast food was something I hadn't tried before. Maghawee Lebanese Grill specializes in Lebanese cuisine. The focus of their menu is kabobs and pitas and everything is cooked while you wait. No warmed up or steam tray food here. When you walk in you're greeted by fabulous Lebanese scents which make your appetite that much stronger. I ordered the chicken kabob meal from their lunch menu and a pop. The price was a bit high for lunch, but I wanted it. As I waited in my banquette I listened to Lebanese music coming from the music videos on the wall mounted TV's. The server brought my lunch to me and then I realized why it was the price it was. Warm steamed pits, garlic dip, grilled chicken kabob, humus, tabbouleh, Lebanese veggies and cinnamon rice was what was for lunch. Yum! I was half way through my meal when the server came to check on me - good service, not too pushy and not not interested. Many people came and went during the course of my lunch for dine in and take out, which in my books is a good sign. After I finished my meal I was intercepted on my way to the washroom by the owner baring baklava for me. My gosh, this was the best baklava I've had - not too sweet or dripping with honey. He told me they have been in business since December and was glad that I enjoyed my lunch. That small gesture and general inquiry about my experience will make me come back. The only thing I suggest is they have breath mints at the till because you'll leave with garlic breath, and that is a good thing.

I'll keep this one short and sweet. We went here as our beloved Co Do Hue was closed (stupid…read moreTuesdays!). Located right beside Pho Du, we went for lunch to try Mashawee with three of my co-workers. Be warned now: a) Service is SLOW (took around 20-25 minutes to cook my lamb kebob pita sandwich) b) Prices are expensive for the amount of food you get (although in hindsight, should have ordered their lunch specials which are $10) c) They were OUT of chicken schwarma and falafel at noon! WHAT?!? How can you be out of your two main staple food items before the lunch rush... d) Pretty salty We each got a pita sandwich (lamb kebob, beef schwarma and two chicken kebob pita's). Lamb one is $9 with the others $7-$9 each. My one buddy and I left still hungry afterwards, never a good sign. Won't be back! Also, I should probably mention - 99% sure we got food poisoning from them. I had the chills last night...same thing with my one friend. Awesome stuff. Wow.
