The fact that you can order on your phone and still explore other sauce and meat options buffet style adds so much to the dining experience. The restaurant was clean. The stations were kept full of sauces and meats and the service was absolutely amazing! Our grill was swapped out often as the marinaded meats charred it quickly. Our server C.J. was on it. I was definitely interested in a $20 Korean barbecue experience. Except it's not $20 all the time you have to get there from 12 o'clock till 3 o'clock and there's a line! I don't know if the body is ready for Korean barbecue at 12 o'clock, but I was down to try. You can't make a reservation U have to be put on a waitlist right when you walk in then they text you when's your turn. Then you have to scan one QR code and then a couple minutes later scan the second one . That was a little confusing . Also, you have 90 minutes to eat and there's a charge if you leave food on your plate. All this information was a little bit stressful. There's a buffet that you can get meat from, but they also will deliver them to your table, so that's a little confusing. I went with my friend who is not a Korean barbecue expert so he was eating his food off the sauce tray. We'll get it eventually. I will definitely try this again. The whole place was REALLY smokey. Newly built joint and not enough ventilation??? THIS RESTAURANT IS NOT GOOD FOR PARTIES OF 6 OR MORE. They put us in a table for six where all the chairs were close together and barely fit the table. The 2 people near the outside of the table were seated almost completely diagonally. The grill was REALLY small for this party. We waited a LONG time for everything to cook as there was not enough cooking space. You only get 90 minutes so naturally this is a challenge for a big party. And there is an automatic 18% charge on 6 or more people. They told us this after we waited an hour outside in the cold to be seated. So. Pricey meal where we all had to take turns to cook our meats and we ate extremely cramped and uncomfortable? NOT good. I really liked this place the first time I came and food was great the 2nd time. What wasn't great is when it was time to pay. The server wanted to charge us without showing us the bill and when I asked to see it, he kept putting the tablet on his chest but finally let us review it. I paid and he said ok sign here and tried to run off but I said wait! Can I see that? He was basically about to charge me close to a $30 tip! Was excited to try Let's Gogi in Downey today for Veterans Day since I had the day off. We showed up around 2 PM ready for lunch, but there was a sign on the door that said "No lunch price for Veterans Day." So basically, you're paying dinner pricing in the middle of the day. Kinda disappointing since we just wanted to try it for lunch, not spend $70+ for two people at 2 in the afternoon. We decided to skip it and go to our usual spot, Sushi Ryokan in Seal Beach, where they still honor lunch and happy hour pricing even on holidays. While we were standing there deciding, we saw at least 5-6 groups (mostly families) do the exact same thing -- walk up, read the sign, and leave. Feels like they drove away a bunch of potential customers instead of welcoming new ones. Hopefully they rethink that next time. We visited Let's Gogi on a Monday afternoon, which is typically a pretty quiet time for the restaurant. It wasn't busy at all, and we were seated right away without any wait. We had a party of six, and while the food was honestly delicious, the service didn't match up to that standard. Interestingly, my parents had gone there previously as a party of two and had a great experience with attentive service. In our case, once the automatic gratuity for a larger party was applied, it felt like we were kind of left to fend for ourselves. Despite the place being quiet, we had to get up and look for our server a few times and didn't get checked on much at all. So overall, delicious food, but it really seemed like the guaranteed tip meant less attentive service for larger groups. Hopefully, they can balance that out in the future! read more
