They have screens you can order from, which makes it very quick and easy for you to order whenever you are ready. We usually get the Bossam Junsik and the yukgaejang Kalguksu The bossam is nicely presented and colorful. I like the pickled jalepenos that come with it. If you don't want it too spicy, just pick out the seeds. The yukgaejang Kalguksu has an extra kick is you want something with more flavor than just the regular Kalguksu. They provide like 8 side dishes. I like their kimchi, as it tastes fresh and not too fermented. Jang Su Jang is one of my go-to spots in Torrance whenever I crave Korean food. read more

Overall great. We came on a Saturday afternoon. We were sat immediately. Ordering is on a tablet but staff did come by our table to take our order if we didn't want to use the tablet. We asked for separate checks since some of us were on business travel. No problem! Winning already. Let's talk about the delicious food. ALL the banchan were flavorful. I couldn't pick a favorite and didn't have to. They refilled all our banchan at least once. A few of them, twice! Some other places, I usually favor a couple. Not here. All of them were delicious. Came by for lunch with my coworkers yesterday while in the area, and realized there has been so much change in this plaza! I used to work near the area years back and frequented this plaza whenever I craved Korean food so yesterday I was trying to look for Da Maat again but could not find it! But I found Jang Su Jang located where Tour Les Jours used to be, few doors down from where Da Maat used to be and found out they reinvented, renovated Da Maat and Cho Dang tofu to come up with JSJ!! This place is huge and modern and beautiful! They still kept Da Maat signature of interior design with the wall decor of bowls and cups on the wall! This place is designed to host large parties and customers. There is a tablet at each table where you can place your order and everything is super clean! Service was great and food tastes the same! The dumplings were delicious and so was the banchan, tofu soup, and bibimbap! Their hand cut noodles were delish also! The food is always super good, and the ban Chans are great. I will say they do have less variety since I first started going last year. The dishes are still great. The table has a tablet to order but you can also order through the servers that come by. I got the beef and seafood soondubu with medium spice. While my coworkers got the beef bibimbap and Galbitang. The soondubu had a good balanced taste as opposed to a strong anchovy or seafood broth of other soondubus I have had. Also really enjoyed the variety of banchans they give for the meal. The sweet soy glazed potatoes really surprised me with their savory and sweet flavor. Definitely recommend trying that. Bibimbap was good but my coworkers did wish there was more meat in it as opposed to the amount that was given. The galbitang was also a bit more bone than meat but the soup itself was very clean and hearty. Interior was very clean and had modern decorations. Jang Su Jang in Torrance is the perfect cure to a hangover, and I speak from experience LOL. The restaurant is bright, clean, and welcoming right as you enter! The store is also very spacious with lots of seating. My friends have been here many times and were raving about it, so we decided to stop by the morning after our night out -- and it was much needed. I ordered the kimchi beef tofu soup and it was so comforting and flavorful -- exactly what my body needed. My table and I all shared the seafood pancake and it was amazingly crispy, savory, and satisfying! We tried sooo many dishes but my favorites were definitely the Ddukbokki: I really liked the texture and the sauce was sooo flavorful, I could dip everything in it Seafood pancake: get it extra crispy, it really makes a difference in texture, and it definitely had a lot of seafood in it LA galbi: I really enjoyed the flavor and cook to this, it was tender and juicy, came right off the bone. We came with four people and ordered the Mille-Feuille Nabe, two tofu soups (Dumpling Soon Tofu and Beef Soon Tofu), LA Galbi, and a Yachae Pajeon (Vegetable Pancake) -- everything was flavorful and satisfying. The banchan here is always a highlight, especially the kimchi, which is hands down my favorite. I also really appreciate that you can customize the spice level on the soon tofu -- makes it easy to get it just right. I had bibimbap with octopus and squid. I had been warned it would be spicy. I told them medium was OK. It was not very spicy. I should have told them spicier. Either way, it was really good. Since the restaurant gets crowded very quickly on the weekends, we arrived right after 11AM just to make sure we could get a table without long wait. Inside, the restaurant is bright, clean and quite spacious with seating for 100+ people. The overall décor is a blend of modern fixtures with classic elements such as wall of antique ceramic bowls. The waitress got us seated and brought the menu and water right away. She also brought their delicious complementary Banchan which is a set of small side dishes with items such as kimchi, bean sprouts and pickles. You can request refills if you run out of any of the items. We ordered the following dishes: Bibimbap: Very nice mixture of fresh vegetables, egg, meat and rice. The delicious sauce brought the flavor out of the ingredients. Seafood Tofu: The pot looked messy because the broth was boiling hot and it spilled the tofu bits over the edge. On the plus side it helped to cook the complementary raw egg. The tofu was firm but tender, and the broth was very flavorful. The brown rice paired well with the tofu and broth. Hand Cut Noodle with Seafood Soup: The broth was clear and very flavorful. The noodles were perfectly cooked with nice texture. The seafood combo was the traditional one with mixture of shrimps, clams, squid, mussels and crab. The prices were reasonable and service was attentive. It has been a few months since I visited Jang Su Jang. It is a great representation of Korean cuisine beyond BBQ (think Baekjeong) and fried chicken (bb.q Chicken). Jang Su Jang offers dishes such as bibimbap (warm rice topped with meat and vegetables), soon tofu (tofu stew), mandoo (dumplings) and guksoo (noodles). Food: I am a huge fan of their bossam (steamed pork slices served with various wraps and toppings) and "wang" mandoo (large dumplings filled with beef, pork, and kimchi), both of which are soooo very good. I also like their eundaegu jorim (braised cod and daikon radishes served in a large earthenware pot, called a ttukbaegi). Finally, I've also enjoyed their dumpling and noodle soups, as well as the haemul pajeon (a seafood and vegetable pancake). I would consider all of these dishes to be Korean comfort food. They also offer a few BBQ dishes (boneless ribs), which they cook on a grill similar to a Japanese habachi), but I would pass on these as the meat just doesn't grill as nicely as at your typical Korean BBQ places. Service: The service is friendly, but can be get a little slow when they are busy. It helps if you speak Korean too. Bottom Line: Jang Su Jang is a very good Korean restaurant that offers something different than your typical BBQ or fried chicken. Definitely worth trying. read more

We went to Jang Su Jang for lunch around 11:30am on a Sunday, and it ended up being a really great first visit. We ordered the dolsot bibimbap with beef, dumpling soup, and BBQ beef short ribs, and shared everything family-style, which worked well given the variety. The short ribs were grilled perfectly - flavorful, tender, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The dumpling soup was also very good; the dumplings were delicious and the broth was smooth with great flavor, especially comforting on a rainy day. The dolsot bibimbap was solid overall. Since we were sharing, I personally could have used a bit more flavor, but it was still well prepared and satisfying. Once mixed in the hot stone bowl, it developed those crispy bits at the bottom, which added nice texture and made the dish more enjoyable. The banchan (side dishes) were plentiful and enjoyable. What surprised me most was the ambience. The space felt modern, sharp, and busy -- in a good way -- which I wasn't necessarily expecting for my first visit. It had good energy without feeling chaotic. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, which made everything flow nicely. We got a delivery order today and the food was good, but the rice was dirty. It looked like somebody's old rice. Not saying it is, I don't know if the restaurant used a dirty rice spatula or what happened, but the customer shouldn't be receiving rice that looks like this. See photos of when I scooped the rice out. I thought at first it was rice at the bottom of the cooker, but the brown parts were wet, gooey, and sticky, so it did not seem like the bottom of the rice cooker rice. A newly remodeled "Da Matt" from a couple doors down. Same owner and same level of quality food. We've been coming here for years. This restaurant is perfect for treating your special guests/family. That's how we got introduced. Our usual order: beef tofu pot, oyster tofu pot, short ribs, and seafood pancakes. I've tried other things on the menu but these are by far our favorites. The tofu pots really tasty and their spicy levels are on par. I usually try mild because even medium is a bit spicy for me as I enjoy drinking all the soup. The beef short ribs are so good here and totally worth the price. Service is on and off depending on how busy they are. This visit the service was wonderful as they were slow. We ordered the tofu soup and it was very tasty but nothing out of this world. We ordered spicy and it was definitely pretty mild. We were hesitant to get the Galbi due to the hefty price tag but fortunately it was very good! The flavor was spot on and the char flavor wasn't overpowering. The banchan options were also nice and flavorful however they were not refilling our banchan & didn't ask once if we wanted refill on anything. while I usually wouldn't mind this, this place is a bit on the pricey side so those little details really count.
