I had to follow up and he did finally 45 min later. Then the day before the move, I texted him for confirmation to see if we were still on for the next morning. No reply. I called a few hours later and he finally answered and confirmed. Businesses typically take the initiative to send out text or email confirmations. That would give the customers peace of mind. The customer shouldn't have to try to track them down for confirmation. Then he calls me the morning of and said he woke up late. They showed up 50 min later, not too bad. Then he went on and on about the universe and how much he looked like Kevin Hart the comedian, twice. I started to wonder if he was on something. They kept asking where to put the boxes and I told them wherever they could find a spot. Common sense. It made me feel as if they weren't very experienced. It took 2 hours and 20 min ( was a small, nearby , fairly easy move) and on the phone originally he said he wouldn't charge extra if we went over a little bit. He quoted $75 extra after the end of the move. I told him I thought everything he did was unprofessional and the reasons why and instead of apologizing he made excuses and asked me if I was perfect and as I walked off I heard him tell my mom I was uptight. I was transitioning from a temporary RV living situation, consolidating storage units, downsizing years of accumulated belongings, and moving into a 1BR apartment. The storage units had been packed tightly by previous movers and required careful staging and decision-making during the move itself. The crew worked methodically, blanket-wrapped furniture, pointed out and documented pre-existing marks before loading, and handled difficult maneuvering with impressive skill. They even opened boxes during the process so I could decide in real time what should move, stay, or be repacked. Nothing felt rushed or careless. I had already done substantial prep work to reduce clutter and create access paths, which helped the process, but the team still completed what was conservatively estimated as a 7-hour job in under 5 hours. They assembled the bed, staged furniture, laid rugs, and helped make the apartment immediately functional. Most importantly, they treated both the belongings and the customer with respect throughout the entire process. Communication was excellent, attitudes stayed positive, and they clearly cared about doing the job right. I tipped them well because they earned it. They showed up promptly at 8:30 in the morning and texted when they got close to the house. It took two trips to get everything moved, and even though we weren't going too far, it only took about four hours. The "owner" will say she didn't know there was a 2 hr minimum. His movers that he hired, to put in my place DID know there was a 2 hr minimum and still asked the girl who opened the door to do most of it, then, they grabbed her butt. I made this move as easy as possible. I locked the cats away, took the drawers from one of the dressers down. They had 4 things to move and I asked (with the 2 hr minimum) to bring down a piece of glass and a filing cabinet, which they assured me they would do and they did not. They left all the dresser drawers in the old apartment as well as the couch cushions and everything else they were supposed to move. I'm concerned they know where I live and would never let them near a place with children. Even after I blocked the phone number of the guy who sexually harassed and assaulted, he then found a new phone number to text from.
