Thank you Jim and team I hired Jim for an entire rewire of my historic house in pasadena. Jim did a great job with the rewire and helped me with my permits and the city regulations regarding historic houses read more

Jim is a fast talking fraud. I hired him to install 2 new windows and re-install basic one window with a reframe in July. Jim brought 2 men to my house, and gave me the impression they were his employees. They WERE NOT. One was a semi-skilled 20 year old named Jose Medina and the other a former government employee with little if any construction experience. Had I know the two males Jim brought to my house were not his employees I would have barred their entry. Instead I gave 3 strangers an intimate tour of my house. Key question to ask any contractor: "Are these guys your employees?" So I started the two guys with re-framing a small area made out of redwood studds, that required rough cut redwood 2x4 studs (you can only buy them at Ganalh lumber, and they are EXPENSIVE). 3 days later, Jose "finished" the window, and all work was done incorrectly. I fired them. Do not trust Jim. Interestingly one of my doctor friends knows Jim and told me the same thing I experienced: " He's a talker. But once he dropped off men at a construction site, he simply sat in his car outside with his smartphone out. A CA State Licensing Board complaint is in process and nearly complete for submission. read more

We recently had our foundation repaired and as a result, a couple of our doors no longer functioned. I called Jim and he came out right away and offered what I felt was a very fair price. Jim sent a young man named Agenor to work on the doors. My wife and I referred to him as the door whisperer. He was amazing. I can't tell you how he did it, but at the end of the day, the doors were perfect. The man is a genius. After the door repair the outside stucco and inside dry wall repair were directed and completed by Carlos. Again, outstanding work and a very positive person as well. Throughout the process we always felt like we were in the loop. They were very clear on what they would be doing and when they would be doing it. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard, and left a spotless worksite when finished. We would have no hesitation in hiring these guys again. read more

I had Home Depot deliver these machines for me and found that one of the valves were broken. The hot water valve did not shut off and so they left the machines here. I was told to contact a handyman to replace the valve and so I found Jim on Yelp. I called him and he quickly answered. The screening process was simple: Jim asked for some photos on text and accepted my inquiry right away. Thoughtful and knows his stuff kind of man. I asked if Jim can do the installations instead of Home Depot because they weren't available for another two weeks. As a new homeowner, Jim educated me on various things. Met him for the first time and I already got a very good impression. read more

First-rate work! Always meticulous. Always professional. When Jim finishes a job, I always feel it is the best money I've spent because of the quality of work. In the last five years he has transformed our house--inside and out. Jim makes the experience easier because he is patient, has great recommendations for a project, communicates clearly, then follows up in a timely manner. He also has picked a great team. Carlos is as knowledgeable and hard-working as Jim and provides the very best quality service. In the last two weeks, Jim and his team have worked on three projects. They removed a fence and gate and installed a new gate of welded steel and cedar fence boards. They added a door with a metal lockbox to a crawlspace and installed new LED lights. On our deck, they replaced several rotten planks and rotting pickets of the railing. Fantastic work! I highly recommend you contact Jim for any project, big or small, if you want quality work that lasts. read more

The guy came to my office to look at a few odds and ends we needed done. Gave us a ballpark cost which we agreed to. Then we receive a text the day before he's supposed to start saying he won't be able to do the job tomorrow nor any other day. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. read more

Let Jim Fix It - General Contractors Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Jim came out Feb 7 at the agreed upon time. I showed him a couple jobs I need done, the most pressing being windows that are either leaking or have a condensation problem. I'm not sure he knew the problem. Maybe that's why I never got a follow up quote? OR maybe I didn't get a quote because, after he walked through the house and looked around, and knowing I live alone, he said, "I should move in here". More gross than creepy- I'm still disgusted. Also, be forewarned, he answers customers calls on speaker phone without their knowledge. (Sorry Art of Altadena, I heard your whole convo). read more

So, Jim did not fix it. I had 2 small fixes in my adu - re-install a towel rack that fell off, and fix a light that stopped working in my fan. He patched and repaired the towel rack great, but the fan was another issue. I purchased a new light assuming the light just went out and gave it to him when he started the job, along with his payment up front. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be home for the repair and trusted the light would work when I got home. He called me after he left and told me that he was able to diagnose the problem (broken controller unit inside the fan) and replace the light. Great! One problem: the light still doesn't work. Instead of communicating with me before he left the site, he assumed I just wanted him to install a new light in a broken fan and took off with his check. I wish he had communicated with me after diagnosis so we could discuss how to accomplish the end goal: make the light work. Instead he called after he left and had his check. I asked if I could be refunded the cost of installing the light in the broken fan, and he said "absolutely not. I replaced your light and diagnosed the problem." Shame because I had been looking for a reliable handyman and would have hired him again because he was very responsive, on time, and professional (until the job was completed). I expressed my concert, & eventually just said no problem, keep the full check since I didn't want to chase him for the difference. Anyways, looking for a new handyman. If anyone knows a reliable handyman that can fix a fan controller in NE LA let me know. Edit: photos added read more

Jim, Carlos, and their team renovated the home we purchased in Sierra Madre last year. My wife and I are very happy with all the work they did. They were always on time, communicative, and had great ideas on how to accomplish what we were looking for. We've had Jim come by for smaller jobs since we moved in. We look forward to working with him in the future! read more

I needed help installing a window ac unit and liked Jim's reviews on here. He responded to my email quickly and was at my house before noon the next day! Jim is a nice guy, very knowledgeable and thorough. He went the extra miles by using his own higher quality mounting screws instead of the ones that came in the box with the unit and I thought that was really cool of him. Also, his price was half of another offer I was quoted! I'll definitely hire Jim again if I need any more work done. read more

I've hired Jim and his team for a number of jobs - ranging from small fix-it's to the major stuff. They do quality work. His partner Carlos is also reliable and honest. The best thing about them is they will try to remedy something if there is an issue, not run away. I appreciate that a lot. I've rec'd Jim to my neighbors and everyone who asks. Second time using Jim. Had some tasks around the house that we've been saving up. Had to wait for a few things to get delivered but wanted to get things on the books, so Jim was patient and flexible with our schedule. Day of, he arrived on time and with a smile. He's got a personality and a sense of humor that my partner and I appreciated and was always willing to offer his opinion on the jobs he was doing as to how to make them more secure or look better. He works quickly, efficiently, and all around, does a fantastic job. It's clear he knows his stuff and we're happy to pay for his time knowing it'll be done right and he'll stand by it. Jim's on speed dial anytime we need anything else done. So glad we found him. read more

Jim, Carlos, Rudi, and Manuel were great! What first caught my eye was Jim's logo because, for some reason, it made me think of Fix It Felix from Wreck It Ralph. Rudi and Manuel were the two who mainly worked on my condo. They painted my kitchen ceiling and walls and my dining room, replaced the area under the bathroom sink where there was water damage, replaced my hallway light that wouldn't fit where it originally was anymore after I got my AC unit replaced, and many more little things I let accumulate. I felt comfortable leaving them alone to do their work while I went to work. They spent two full days at my place. They were punctual and considerate, arriving right on time both mornings (the first time I met with Jim, he was like 3 minutes late and apologized for it lol) -- I appreciate punctuality! After the first day, the stuff they needed to move was neatly set aside. The paint and equipment was also neatly on top of towels/ragged that they provided. Jim also reached out to me after the first day with a progress report. I had to swing by home during the second day because I forgot something at home and I saw that they laid out coverings for the floor and all my furniture while they were painting. When they were done, they put everything back, cleaned up after themselves, and I'm pretty sure they scrubbed my toilet. I guess I can understand why they cleaned it because I've heard horror stories from friends who come home to not the best toilet situations, but I honestly wasn't expecting them to do that! I have this little wooden stick that I use for the kitchen window out of paranoia if someone were to pick the window unlock, they can't slide the window open. It was a little too long so it was an eyesore as it sat diagonally across the window (sorry front door neighbors!). I was meaning to ask Rudi if he could cut that when he had a chance, but totally forgot to ask. When I came home after they were finished with the work, I noticed that it was cut so they read my mind! Would I use them again? Well, I'm saving up for my next project next year that I'm planning on having them work on! If you're looking for good, knowledgeable people to handle work on your property, hit up Jim and his team! read more

Got a great start and good feeling about Jim when he came right over to price out the projects around the house. He stayed to enlarge the opening of a cabinet frame to fit our new microwave oven and got an electrical outlet working before heading back to an existing client with work in progress. Work to begin, first available, after shutters, that we will be ordering, arrives. We contacted Jim that the shutters arrived and asked when can he come. He politely responded informing me that he has increased his pricings (see emails below leading up to the price increases, starting at very the bottom). Because I still like Jim's work, I tried negotiating for 50% increase. Jim ghosted me. I found another handyman, Built It Bui Handyman. Bui's pricing came close to Jim's original price quotes. Bui was TERRIFIC! On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, 12:31:49 PM PDT, Jim wrote: My apologies to you both for having to rethink the pricing for the work that I too generously estimated on my first visit. I can see that if I was available to do all these different projects by myself, I could probably get away with doing them for that price, but when I have to pay my guys to do it, that original quote would not work well for me. I completely understand if you choose to find another person(s) to do this work for you. Thank you for considering my services. Best, Jim On Sunday, May 23, 2021, 07:38:30 AM PDT, Jim wrote: Good morning Chris, My apologies for the extended delay. I will do my very best to get back to you this week by bringing myself and a small team to do the items on your list. I also can see now that I've underpriced the bifold door situation and the shutter installation, and the crawl space access doors. Those prices should be $500, $300 & $150 each respectfully. Of course that fireplace repair is still undetermined, and the installation of the ceiling medallion should be $150 to remove the existing fixture, install the item and reinstall the fixture. Something to consider when requesting an estimate from this company. He services South Pasadena, Sierra Madre, and Rowland Heights but wouldn't come to Monterey Park. I had some rain get through the roof around our A/C unit and it did some damage to the ceiling and wall beneath including some light fixtures. I wish I could give this company 5 stars, but I can't. A few years ago I had work done on my roof which led to a whole host of other projects. His business partner did the job, and did it well. I ended up spending mid 5 figures for several projects over the course of a few years, but all of a sudden, the business partner who was doing the work stopped contacting me. I actually thought he was ill and perhaps passed away for reasons I won't go into. It turns out that he decided to ghost me after the last job. For unknown reasons, he stopped responding to my text messages or voicemails. Nothing. Besides it being business-unprofessional (I had materials ready to go for our next project), it's also just plain mean. Even after asking Jim what happened, and what I may have done(?), I was denied reason. There is something quite personal about someone being inside and outside your home for years. You get to know the team. You start to know what they're capable of and how to work with them. They get to know your family, and you rely on them to help you build your dream home. Use Jim and his team if you want but always remember to curb your level of reliance and trust in them. read more

Jim sent Carlos and Manuel to work on a lot of small stuff that I had let accumulate. There were also projects that a previous handy man worked on and tried to fix that just broke quickly or weren't fixed properly to begin with. They gave me a quote that seemed reasonable to me and they fixed everything on the list and then some. They swapped out some of the screws on my door because the installer used short screws. After Carlos installed a few longer screws it worked fine. But as a preventative measure, even after the door worked as it should, he swapped out several more screws. He wasn't being paid hourly so he had no incentive other than to make sure he did it right and I wouldn't have any more issues. I installed a brand new bathroom fan with another handyman. It still made a grinding noise. Carlos and Manuel fixed the fan. I wish I had asked them to do it first. Maybe they would have saved me the cost of a brand new bathroom fan. Manuel was finishing up caulking the bathtub and while Carlos was waiting he fixed a door he noticed wouldn't close properly and did not ask for extra money or expect it. That was the theme throughout the whole time they were here. They were great. read more

Jim has done lots of work for us over the years. Very knowledgeable, experienced, good prices and friendly.

Horrible. Gave a quote of $600, ended up charging me $1100 and they didn't even do the job right. They left me with cool water only in my only shower. I contacted him, and no service was provided. Jim and Rudy (not sure I'm spelling that right) were able to come out within 24 hours to repair a compromised front door, which was a security risk and therefore a big priority for me.
