It is time for my front porch to get new paint! After vetting a couple of painters, I decided to have Joe to help. He is very professional, explaining about the process and he completed the work in 4 days. He filled up some of the wear and tear with some plaster and it looks smooth again. The porch looks like new when the job was completed. Meanwhile I also have smaller jobs which I also asked Joe to do - a light fixture which was very tricky to put up, as well as to put a tarp against the exterior wall as we are dealing with some water leaking issues. Gave address for my condo complex. In the same text I said entrance on dayton ave. Goes into the wrong building and then proceeds to blame me for giving bad instructions. He said he went into the first garage in Dayton Ave... there are 3-4 garage entrances on the small street. I explained that I never said to go into any random building. Since i gave the address it should be implied that he should enter the building and garage associated with that address. Apparently this was enough to make him aggressive and condescending via text. I did not follow through on the repairs since he seems aggressive / angry / unstable. I can't comment on the work he does. He might actually do good work but I didn't want to risk it. read more

I bought a pergola kit from Amazon. Handy Joe and Akos came right over after giving me a quote. I love that he was just straight to the point when I asked for a quote on Yelp. I hired them because he gave an immediate quote and didn't want to come over first and then quote. They were priced fairly. Both guys worked hard, and I mean hard to build that pergola. They were great but the actual pergola kit itself was terrible quality. They did the very best they could and were up front and honest about the process along the way. No doubt that if the actual Amazon product had been of better quality, they would have had no issues. They are very skilled. After building, they cleaned up and left my yard tidy again and they gave me helpful suggestions on how to better the pergola. I will not hesitate to call Handy Joe again. I requested service for this job a few months ago and left Joe hanging since work got really crazy but to my surprise, Joe was still willing to help me out. I had pushed my closer doors too hard that the doors fell off the tracks and the pieces holding them in place broke at the same time.
