I replied, no I did not get a additional gravy on the side. The dinner automatically comes with turkey gravy on top of the dish. I simply requested to have the gravy on the side because I want my dinner "dry" so I could put the gravy on myself as I see fit. I was completely surprised when the so-called manager/cashier looked at me and called me a liar. I was dumbfounded that he would even say such a thing when he knows that I visit this place quite often and that was not true. All he had to do was ask the waitress. Instead he Insisted that I received additional gravy on the side. I was not going to argue over a $1 charge because obviously this manager/cashier does not have a rational thought in his head with no common sense that he's about to lose a regular recurring customer. I simply paid for my meal in cash and left. I called the day after to speak to the general manager and I got the same argument. In fact he claims that he has video of me getting a second cup of gravy. When I asked for him to supply me with that video he denied my request and denied my request for his name as well. He also complained that I had a service dog with me. I've been there several times with my service dog and not one time has it ever been brought up to me about any regulations that they may have about service dogs. It looks like I'm going to have to report this to the American Disability Act as well as report this to the Better Business Bureau about the way they treat their customers. read more

**This is my experience with a pick up order only** 1) The ordering over the phone went smooth enough -but they didn't give me a total until I asked them to.. saying she had yet to ring it up. I asked if I could pay over the phone .. she hesitated but then said yes, but I also had to ask for total again before giving my car info ( I asked if I could add tip to my total - she processed it with tip ) 2) Food was not as I requested - 2 Philly's - one without bell peppers - both came with bell peppers 3) Clear plastic ToGo containers with no form of paper liner for moisture absorption makes for soggy bread and fries 4) No receipt given with pick up Oder- now granted I had someone else pick up - but it wasn't in the bag so I have no proof the transaction went thru w the funds I okay'd Overall I would just suggest in restaurant dining over pick up as its a better experience read more

We are traveling from Texas (Houston area) & have been here 2/3 days now. Lester's by FAR my favorite place we have been. First let me start by saying we were greeted by ONLY kind smiling faces, and our server Brian(sp?!) was just completely amazing. He was so kind, warm and patient. Not only was he amazing with us, but he was running ALL OVER helping a ton of other patrons and never once did he seem put out. I'm so impressed by him and his service I don't even have the words to say enough great things. All the other staff members were amazing too, the hostess, the gentleman I'm assuming was the manager on shift, even the guys working back behind the dessert bars and in the kitchen. Wish I had paid more attention to names so I could thank them individually. They made us feel like we were home. Secondly, the food was delicious, fresh cooked and completely huge portions. Lester's has been a So Flo establishment for as long as I can remember. They have two locations. I know they've had a change of hands at the sunrise location and the interior looks gorgeous. They have the same menu as the other location to keep the continuity. The staff is always super friendly. For diner food after midnight, this is probably your best bet. It's a little off the beaten path from the downtown Fort Lauderdale area, but worth a trip if you want to eat an inexpensive meal. The prices can definitely creep up, if you do any add ons. For example, if you order a Greek salad it's $12.99 and if you add salmon it's an extra $9.00. If you add a slice of ham, sausage or bacon it will cost an extra $4.00. If you add chocolate chips to pancakes it will be an extra $3.00. The food is consistently good. They have good pancakes. I had high hopes for this restaurant however I was a bit disappointed with my first order. I ordered a French dip sandwich, took a couple of bites and couldn't eat the rest. The meat was chewy , I dismantled one half of my sandwich to look what was going on with the meat. It was springy and not very tasty! The server came over and I told her I could not eat the rest of this so she asked me if I wanted something else. I told her I would try the patty melt type sandwich instead. The manager came over and said I had eaten half of my sandwich which I hadn't and said if I ordered something else I was being charged for the half sandwich I supposedly had eaten. Apparently needed to ask the manager's permission to remove it from my bill, as if i need permission to simply walk out, or have any charges reversed on my CC. Comes back and tries to get to verify what it was that i didn't like. Poor little waitress got her feelings hurt because she thinks returning poor quality food was an attack on her. What was a simple cook's problem now turned into a server problem, thus, a restaurant problem, because apparently she doesn't understand the law, that no one has to pay for food they haven't eaten if they're dissatisfied. Foolish service approach plus kitchen mediocrity equals lost transaction money, lost food money, lost returning customer money. I am obsessed with their chili, wings, fries. Sigh I'm just obsessed with them on the whole. I reallyyy enjoy their food. It's a lot but it's great. Those buffalo wings give me nice dreams lol. Work in the area and this was definitely on my list to try. I had been many times to their location on State Road 84 in Ft. Lauderdale and always thought it was good. So Friday what to do for lunch? So me and my work colleague come here. Plenty of great parking in their lot out front. The sign when you enter asks you to wait to be seated. So we complied. Once we were seated we got a comfy booth. Since it is a large restaurant you are not seated on top of anyone else and there is lots of distance from anyone else. Ie since Covid this is definitely needed. I looked over the extensive menu and decided on a Shrimp Salad on rye bread. It came toasted which is great and preferred especially if the bread is not baked fresh that day. Also had a pickle and Cole slaw with it. What can I say? It didn't knock my socks off. So I ordered a Black and White cookie for the road. It was big,good but not the best. My colleague had the French Toast it came with crisp bacon and cinnamon was infused in the butter. She was very happy with her pick. Will I come back? Probably and I will work my way through the menu until I find the one that got away. Our waitress basically ignored us most of the meal, was brusque, tossed things on the table and walked away as fast as humanly possible each time she actually made her way over to us. Wanted to order dessert and asked if they had blueberry pie, came back threw the bill on the table and said no without offering any alternatives or asking if we wanted something else. No refills offered throughout the meal, and had to be flagged down for anything. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. This used to be our go to place, but last weekend, my wife and I got sick after eating dinner there. Management does not care. Cashier/hostess is the poster child for rudeness. Better to go go to Dennys. They might not have the dubious mystique of a diner, but at least you don't get spend the night and the following day in your bathroom. I wasn't sure what to get so my server, Melanie suggested the hot open Turkey sandwich and it was definitely a good pick. Then I got a blueberry pie with ice cream for dessert and when my server started asking me all these questions about how I wanted it I got confused, but when she came back with it it was absolutely gorgeous!! Lester's is one of the best diners in all of South Florida. I love the family environment. All of the staff there has been there awhile and they treat everyone great, from the regulars to those dining for the first time. Their food is always hot, fresh and tasty. We love going for breakfast. My husband always gets the same thing and won't change up his order because it is so good. I believe it is the Broward County special. My kids love their pancakes and bacon and I have gotten a few of them omelets before, country fried chicken but my ultimate favorite is the turkey club (even for breakfast) not to mention the delicious black & white cookie I can get to go and eat as a snack later on. The food is good, some dishes are better tasting than others. I hear the breakfast is delicious. This location is always packed. Its surrounded by office buildings and is a very fast and cheap way to lunch. I have never had to wait for a table. Many people, call in the orders and pick them up. I came over for dinner with a group of friends before an event at the BB&T center. Lester's was chosen because everyone can find something on the menu to eat. The kids ended with waffles for dinner, one friend had the turkey burger, another the salmon, my daughter had the French dip, and I had that diner staple a turkey melt. I think you choose a diner for variety not that they do any one dish spectacularly well. Having grown up in NJ where diner's are a staple it's always nice to visit one.
