Mushrooms filled with seafood absolutely out of this world
    Janette M.

Came back to a Lester's after a 25 year separation and we really missed everything about it!!! The looks, the service, the food the atmosphere we dreamed about it but the reality of returning was SO MUCH BETTER!!!! The new diner look is clean and inviting the menu has so much to offer!!! My son had eggs with 2 types of sausage and bacon and the pancakes were absolutely delicious!! Nothing remained on the plate. My husband listened to the waitress and had chopped sirloin and sweet potato and salad and cucumber salad. He must of mmmmm with every bite. Highly unusual for him but he truly loved his dinner. I had the seafood stuffed mushrooms which were an appetizer but the portion size was entree size I had to take half home. It was AWESOME!!! So glad we moved back 'home'!!!!!!

We enjoyed breakfast at Lester's Diner. We arrived before a large breakfast crowd began to form (around 10:30 a.m.). With six people in our party, we were seated in a roomy booth. Service was great except our server had to keep going back for replacements or corrections that could have been done before she came out. The food was delicious. I ordered the 2x2x2, and the bacon was perfect, even though I didn't ask for it to be crispy. I thoroughly enjoyed the pancakes as well. The eggs (over hard) were okay. I enjoyed this breakfast treat on a Sunday morning.

Lester's Diner is well known in South Florida, and you'll see why when you visit one of their locations. My go too is the location in Sunrise, located just minutes away from Sawgrass Mills Mall. Recently this location under went renovations, and its newly improve. The decor, the new booths and tables and chairs are beautiful. The staff here are all wonderful and very welcoming. The menu is large, and breakfast and lunch is served all day long. I've been coming to Lester's occasionally for 3 years now and have never had a bad meal. My favorite here is the Lester's 2-2-2, or a grill cheese with tomato's and bacon on Hallah bread.

Nice clean place . Staff is good . We ordered roast beef club sandwich, it came with coleslaw, didn't like the roast beef , couldn't chew it but the egg sandwich was very tasty . The rye bread was very fresh . The service was really good .

Woke up craving a hearty breakfast that wouldn't empty my wallet, so we headed to Lester's Diner. We were seated right away, and our waitress promptly brought coffee while I ordered the Lester's Big Deal with a side of cheese grits. The food arrived quickly, everything tasted fantastic, and the portions were huge--I even have leftovers for tomorrow's breakfast. The server was attentive throughout. In this economy, feeding three people (with a 22% tip) for under $65 is an outstanding value. Highly recommend Lester's--we'll definitely be back!

Lester's is your classic comfort diner. My family has been going there for years and I've never had a bad experience. They have a huge menu so you can always find something, and I've never been disappointed by a menu item. I've been to other diners, and I feel like Lester's food is better quality than most. I normally get the build-your-own-omelette, which you can't go wrong with. The staff is always super nice, and it has that classic diner feel with the option to sit at the counter and a display of pies as you walk in.

I like this place better for breakfast than lunch. The pic is showing corned beef hash and eggs, delicious and the service was great that morning, friendly and quick with the food. For lunch, no pic, a bit slower, a bit more of a harsh demeanor for our server and the Cuban sandwich I ordered was meh....kinda dry.

I cam here with a small group of 15 women and we had a place in the back to sit. The waitress was very helpful and very friendly. Unfortunately, because we had to speak to the whole group, we asked them to turn down the music, which they didn't. So we had to talk loudly and focusing on the one speaker, was difficult. They did include the tip into the bill because there were more than 6 of us - so I tried telling everyone so that they didn't double tip. It is a rather big diner which is goods so there is plenty of parking and plenty of space. My toasted blueberry muffin and coffee were good, by the way.

I haven't been to Lester's in probably 20 years and I the last few months I have been going about 2x a week. There is something for everyone and I have enjoyed everything I have ordered. After my visit last night I realized that I haven't written a review yet and I wanted to add my 2 cents. Although they do serve breakfast all day, breakfast is a smaller section later in the day. We have always enjoyed breakfast and honestly I was shocked that I enjoyed the nova platter more than I have at some bagel places. Yes, the bagels aren't the best I've ever had, but they weren't the worse either. The portion is perfect, even for my nova loving kid. Last night I had the grilled salmon sandwich. The salmon was cooked perfect and was delicious. It was bigger than the bread, and did I mention it was perfect? My daughter had the same thing and agreed. My husband had the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and quinoa. He said the chicken was a little tough, but had nice flavor and he enjoyed his sides and matzah ball soup. I have had the tuna (excellent), shrimp salad (excellent), eggs (yum), oatmeal (perfect), LEO (filled with lox). Stuffed mushrooms - Yum - and the left overs warmed up sooooo good! I had to deduct a star because I feel they nickel and dime a little. I ordered onion & lettuce (but no tomato) and there was $1 charge for the onion. My husband had gravy on his mashed potatoes and there was a $1 charge. The thing that bothers me is that we had no choice, because we weren't told about the charges. All in all, we will continue to go. Service typically is on point. Everyone is friendly.

    Cookies, and Cherry Pie

Classic diner vibes! We had the steak sandwich (so juicy!), pancakes with crispy chicken, and for dessert a warm chocolate chip cookie and cherry pie. Portions were generous, service was fast and friendly, and the cozy retro diner atmosphere made it even better. Will definitely stop by again!

We ordered the "Broward County Special" breakfast at Lesters west location for $10.59. Three eggs, bacon, homefries and toast. They also had monster chocolate cookies in the front display case. Best prices on breakfast around and everything was great tasting as usual.

This is not a place I normally would go to, but our friends wanted to go here. I also ate here about three weeks ago. I had had a chance to write this review until now. So I started with a bowl of matzoball soup. It wasn't bad. Then I had the baked Cod with a side of cucumber salad and quinoa. The was I little bit over cooked, but was still good. My wife was with me and had an omelet with feta cheese, mushrooms, and spinach along with an English muffin and fies. We also shared 3 A slice of key lime pie. If nothing else, that was good.

MY 1000th REVIEW…read more.. As a Yelp review milestone, this morning I wanted to pick a mom & pop local food joint with at least 500 plus reviews and above a 4 star yelp rating. Well, I found one..."About Time Cafe" located on West Oakland Park Blvd. No outside patio but had a large seating area, cafeteria style, with four tables currently occupied with customers. This super bubbly waitress, Tabby, greeted me and told me I could sit anywhere in the gently outdated restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch comfort food. The menu items looked impressive with many interesting dishes ranging between $10 - $14. The "Eggs Your Way" for $10.49 was my choice with two eggs over medium, bacon, potatoes and whole wheat toast. My order was ready within ten minutes. Prepared my toast with a heavy coating of raspberry jelly. The eggs were cooked perfectly, loved the onions mixed with the potatoes, although the bacon could have been crisper, next time will order it well done. The bathroom was simple with no exciting decor and needed some minor attention, although, suited its purpose. Tabby alerted me to some deep discounted weekly food specials as follows: Taco Tuesday 1/2 priced Waffle Wednesday 1/2 priced Thirsty Thursday 1/2 off Mimosas Weekend Brunch Bogo Mimosas The food was fantastic and the customer service was commendable. Easy 4 star rating for this relaxed comfort food restaurant. I will return for an omelette and recommend this restaurant to other hungry foodies.

We are still on the hunt for a good breakfast eatery. So, when we got an ad for this place in our…read moreneighborhood coupon packet, we decided to try it. It's in a small strip mall off Oakland Park Boulevard, west of Hiatus. There is lots of parking; the place is plain but clean and houses a large dining room. Hubby had the big breakfast (3 eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and 1/2 order of French toast) and I got the full French toast. The ham was skimpy and paper thin and looked like a piece of lunch meat sliced in two. There were 2 thin strips of bacon and 1 sausage. The hash browns were good but probably about tablespoons worth. The French toast boasted a house made strawberry sauce. We didn't see any. And, when I asked the server, she told me to lift the bread. There was a faint, red smear, and she said that was the strawberry sauce. Nevertheless, the French toast was to my liking, soaked in batter and cooked properly. It was a bit after 12 on a Sunday (after church) and the place was relatively busy with 8-10 tables filled at a time and 2 servers. Plus, one young man was cleaning tables and assisting the servers. We were fascinated watching him clear tables with multiple trips carrying the dirty items in his two hands (no tray!). We even placed bets on how many trips it would take to clear a table of four. (I won, 6 trips.) While the food was good, the items didn't fulfill the promises listed on the menu. Service was congenial as the two servers rushed about trying to get everything done in a timely fashion. Prices were reasonable. Breakfast for two with tax (and free coffee from our coupon) was $28.

Ally's comfort Café has been a staple in Northwest Davie forever. *Now, Ally, moved away a little while ago and new owners took over. They kept the same recipes which made us hopeful that things would pretty much remain the same. But little by little all of the staff that had been there for years started leaving. I think there's only a couple of the longtime staff left. We'll get back to the staff in a moment. My wife and I go to Ally's every Saturday morning. We go there have a great breakfast and then go to the Publix next-door to do our weekly shopping. There's obviously going to be hiccups when new owners take over a restaurant. We totally understand this. But some things are just not improving. They open at 8 AM on Saturdays. But, between 8 and 9 AM there's only one waitress and one bus boy this didn't always used to be the case. They used to have the full staff and someone at the door to take names. He would also help out by getting you drinks or more coffee if you needed it. It worked really well for the small family restaurant. The new owners took over and at some point they decided they only needed limited staff between 8 and 9 AM on Saturdays. And of course, every Saturday my wife and I go in there. It gets packed and the waitress is running around like her head is cut off and the busboy is overwhelmed. This isn't a one time thing it has been constant since they made the staffing change. It's completely unfair to the waitress and busboy and it's also a complete turn off to patrons who have to wait sometimes up to 10 or 15 minutes just for the poor waitress to come and take their order this morning. A couple waited 20 minutes before their order was taken. Also, the owner/manager doesn't get there until almost 9 herself, which means there's no management in the restaurant to help with the register or put out "fires." It. Is. Not. Working. Ally's has been known for their specials for years. They always have amazing special pancakes and special French toast. It's one of the main reasons we still go there. It's our little weekly treat. Lately the specials have been very monotonous. Some sort of jelly put on some French toast or some sort of cream put on a pancake. Not real imaginative for instance, today was banana cream and chocolate pancakes. It was a dollop of banana cream on a chocolate pancake that had little taste. One could've added some fresh bananas, or maybe some whipped cream on top of that. Meanwhile, the special pancakes and special French toast are often made wrong by the staff. This happened this morning. It took them twice to get the pancakes right and three times to get the French toast, right. Again, this is not a one time occur occurrence. We never complain. But we were surprised to still see those items on the bill and not discounted at all, but that's OK. The thing that really drove me to write this review, is that I waited for more than 10 minutes to speak to the owner/manager on our way out. I thought the best way to handle our dissatisfaction would be to speak to her personally. She disappeared into the kitchen, and even after the waitress went to tell her we were waiting to speak with her, she was nowhere to be found. No I understand things come up in the kitchen, but she could've at least came out and said hey I know you're here, I'm dealing with a problem, I'll be right back. But we waited and waited and waited and nothing despite all of the above, that's what irked me the most. I will say this. The food is still very good. And the waitresses and buses are amazing. None of this is their fault. They should all be paid more in dealing with a kitchen that can't get right and an owner that can't seem to figure out good customer service. We will certainly give them another chance, it's part of our routine. But after biting my tongue, I had to let everyone know what was happening at one of our favorite spots in Broward County.

This entire cafe is outdoors, so it's best to visit during weather where you can tolerate being outdoors. There is lots of shade, so the sun won't be beating on you directly, and there are fans around the tables as well. There are also those little fly fans on each table to keep flies away from your food, so it's clear that they've done their due diligence with creating a comfortable outdoor environment. This was my first time visiting, and I was pleased with everything I ordered. My fiance had been here once before on his own, and brought me along this time to experience it for myself! I ordered the iced Rosa Latte, the Breakfast Bowl, and a plan Belgian waffle. He had an iced Chai Latte, and the Pancake Sandwich. Here are our thoughts of each item: Rosa Latte: I got mine with almond milk, and it was just the right amount of sweet. The rose syrup brings a truly unique flavor that I can hardly describe myself! If you like your tea with milk and honey (or any sweetener) and you also like lattes, you'll enjoy this. Breakfast Bowl: everything was cooked perfectly. I was surprised at the heaping scoop of perfectly ripe avocado on top--I wasn't expecting so much avocado, in a good way. Most restaurants are stingy with avocado. The eggs were fluffy, the bacon was crispy, and everything tasted like an extremely well made home breakfast. The eggs were not salted, which I preferred because I was able to add the amount of salt I wanted. Pancake Sandwich: My fiance ordered this one, and he described it as the perfect blend of sweet and savory. The pancake (bread) was a normal pancake size, which made the sandwich a bit difficult to hold given that pancakes aren't very firm, so some people might find it easier to use utensils to eat this. I tasted the pink mayonnaise, and it tasted homemade! If you like deviled eggs, the pink mayonnaise tastes like fresh deviled eggs. It's lovely. Overall, this was a super pleasant experience. The server that my fiance had last time (I didn't catch his name) also remembered him and stopped by our table to say hello. The prices here are a bit higher for a breakfast cafe, but once you taste everything you'll understand why. It's clear that all the food and drinks use fresh ingredients, and the staff takes pride in it!
