I've been ordering pancakes/waffles for decades from ihop Dennys Waffle House. This is my first time ordering from Lester's and I never had to order syrup with my pancakes/waffles it was always included. Lester believes u should have dry pancake unless requested. Terrible sense of judgement. Now I'm at work with dry pancakes. Toast egg and bacon was great. But overshadowed by the fact they don't include syrup with ur order of pancakes. Day ruined. Bfast for dinner ruined. I don't know how to proceed. I don't want Lester to make this right with me this is my karma from last week but please make sure the next customer doesn't have to go through this nightmare. They did nothing wrong read more

I love diners and we just happened to see Lester's while we were staying at a time share in the next town. Asked my husband to take me there today for my birthday! Awesome food! I had the shrimp scampi which had eight big shrimp over spaghetti. It was delicious & enough left over for another meal. My husband's Chef's salad was also excellent! The food is very bland, not much flavor. We had the Texan burger and mozzarella sticks, the burger was overcooked, we asked for medium, the mozzarella sticks tasted like The freezer store bought ones. The burger meat had no flavor. We also tried chocolate and strawberry shakes, which were also just ok. Everything was edible, if you're hungry it will definitely hit the spot but this diner doesn't seem to wow anybody. The parking lot was flooded out after a deluge of rain which made parking pretty annoying. That remains a major issue in that area since. It's built on such a unique environment. On to the restaurant itself. Many of us consider Lester's (the four locations that remain) as pretty consistent diner fare. I am one of those people. They have managed to keep a pretty full diner menu, unlike most other broad-based menu restaurants. This visit is specific to Lester's Sunrise, the one located "across the street" from Sawgrass Mills. My last experience was many years ago at this location; I do visit the other two remaining locations occasionally. I went with the Soup of the Day, which on Saturday was Broccoli and Cheddar. It was surprisingly good; at this point, I usually run into watered-down Broccoli and Cheddar soup. The soup overall made me full. But onto the main course, which I opted for a Turkey Melt on Challah bread with American cheese. I was glad to see and taste that the turkey was roasted as opposed to cold-cut style turkey, basically a thinner cut of what you would get in a turkey dinner or a hot open turkey sandwich. It was good; the challah was the right texture, and the turkey was not dry. But I was full and took it to go; unfortunately, it went in the garbage as we were in Sawgrass for four hours. Now, the service... Our server Lisa checked all my service boxes. My only hiccup was someone else grabbed our drinks and gave me sweet tea instead of unsweet; Lisa promptly remedied it. Lisa was also engaging and personable, and her timing was impeccable. She also engaged my nieces in conversation and was overall genuinely pleasant and friendly, but more importantly, a very good server. I'll be back; I'm sorry I haven't been there in a good while. I debated docking for the parking lot situation but ultimately I realized we would have passed on by if it was anything more than a minor inconvenience on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Since the new owners have taken over Lester's Diner, located at 1393 NW 136th Avenue in Sunrise several things have changed. This establishment has recently had a makeover with fresh paint, flooring, and booths and tables. The menu has also been revamped with some of the same appetizing meals as before along with some new items. The staff is always friendly and eager to please, making the service great as well. If you're there on a weekend, get there soon because this Lester's location fills up quickly. This Lester's location gets a BFI Fist bump from me. I went two times this week. Both times the food was excellent. Tremendous variety and choices. Great portions good value and delicious. The first day we were served by a server named Alex. She was outstanding. She kept eyes on her tables at all times. Checked on us several times. Friendly, efficient, professional, attentive, skilled. Came in the second time and asked for her but she wasn't there. We had a server name Sherrie. She did not stop by after she delivered the food to see if we needed anything else. I couldn't get anyone's attention for napkins and a straw so I eventually got up and went and asked someone. She waited other tables around us and never looked over to see if we were trying to flag her down. She didn't come over to refill the coffee. I had to flag her down and ask for the check and a box to go. I do recommend this place very much I will be back. Sherrie disappointed. Diminished the dining experience. She needs training and management supervision. The quality of service is an extremely important aspect of going to a restaurant . I will ask for Alex every time. read more

I hadn't been to Lester's in years....in fact I had kind of forgotten about it until I was out bike riding with friends and we decided to stop for breakfast. It's a pretty big restaurant with a dining room and counter seating. Of course there's the big case of delicious looking desserts to greet you as soon as you enter. They have a full breakfast menu in addition to the regular menu, and they also have a decent amount of Greek menu items which can be found at many diners. I ordered the veggie omelet with hash browns and it was served hot and full of veggies. It was really, really good, and the hash browns were tasty as well. One friend had the Greek omelet and she enjoyed it. It was served right in the cast iron skillet. My 3rd friend had the 2-2-2 breakfast which had 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 pieces of bacon. She ordered the eggs scrambled and with cheese and she said it was delicious. Our food came out quickly, and our service was perfect. (I didn't catch our server's name but we are a group of teachers and she heard us talking and told us that she is a kindergarten teacher as well.) She was friendly and extremely attentive! We all enjoyed our meals and the food was really good. I noticed that they also serve beer and wine; so that's a nice bonus because many diners don't have alcohol, and they're open till 9:00 in the evening. It's nice to know there's a reliable place for reasonably priced comfort food on the west side of town! read more

Lester's Diner has become Lester's Dump! I have been a faithful patron of this place for a few years now, (often ordering on a weekly basis via Uber Eats), for my grandmother. This last order went straight into the trash. The top of the lasagna was as hard as a rock, not to mention the portion size for almost $20. I contacted management (Andrew) and was promised a refund; I never received it. I literally threw money into the trash. I will happily take my business elsewhere! read more

The place was packed but the wait was super short. Didn't take too long for the server to get to us but it was hard to catch her after she checked on us once. The seating is nice and the place isn't too cold. The food came FAST. I was shocked, but thankful because I was starving. The food was delicious the pancakes are cooked hard so if that's not your thing skip them. They're also buttermilk so if that's not your thing skip it (it's not mine but this was my first time, now I know to get something else) the eggs were great. The cheese addition was an extra $1. And the sausage and home fries were delicious. I would go again JUST for that. Coffee was ok, not very strong. And you have to ask for water if you want it (which I know is standard in a lot more places now) I got full fast and didn't finish all my food. But I'll definitely come back. read more

I arrived here for brunch. A member of my group selected this restaurant. Honestly, by the name and the Yelp reviews, I would have simply skipped it. I am glad we went. The restaurant gives a 60s diner feel with enough modern flare to not appear outdated or old. The unoccupied tables were all clean, and the location was appropriately staffed to quickly and adequately serve the customers. Our waitress Sherri greeted and treated us like family. Have you ever had someone who truly cares about others serve you? That is what she does. She set the tone quickly, and it is obvious she is very good at her job. All of us were entirely satisfied with both the quality and about of food. Service really gave me the push to throw the 5th star on this review. I occasionally go to this Lester's Diner location in Sunrise. Its pretty good for breakfast. Today, I went there for lunch. I simply ordered a plain hamburger medium rare with french fries. The french fries were very good, but the burger was served to me dry and well done.....not medium rare as I had asked. I tried to get the attention of several servers and the host at the cash register as he walked by. But alas, they simply made believe like they didn't see me and turned the other way. My server never checked on me and I didn't see her for some time. I was finally able to catch the attention of another sever and she apologized and served me another hamburger. The second burger was the same as the first. Well done and dry. My original server finally came by and asked if my burger was ok. I was in a rush, hungry, and frustrated, so I just replied it was "ok" and ate half of it. The burger was pan fried, dry and didn't taste so good and had sort of a gamey taste. For some reason I remember visiting the Lesters in Margate where the burger there was delicious, drippy juicy, medium rare, and flame broiled with char lines. I tend to prefer the Margate location better for lunch and dinner. Sunrise is "meh..ok" Probably should have went to Flanigan's for their $6.99 lunch burger and fries and drink special which is excellent and a great price. read more

After several years I revisited today. I think it's under new ownership because the menu changed and it had tons of Greek food. I ordered breakfast and by husband got a pastrami sandwich. My husband liked his sandwich but it came with nothing. He had to order fries separately which was fine. My breakfast was just ok. The scrambled eggs were fine but the hash browns were just off. They were not so fresh and some parts just tasted stale. I had two Turkey sausages but returned them because they were rubbery. They took it off the bill which was good. We really wanted to enjoy this restaurant as much as we used to. I was hoping this was just an off morning but there were a lot of changes in the service, decor, and food quality. We waited for about 20 minutes for our seating and ended up in the bar area in a booth. The juke box machines were gone. I didn't really care about playing music but it added to the diner ambiance. Our booth was dirty. Badly worn stains on the tabletop and the booth seats were not much better. After another 20 minutes, the girl behind the bar came out to greet us and then got drink orders. We quickly placed our orders as we knew from past visits what we wanted. Good thing because she rarely came out from bar service. Food took another 20 minutes to come out and 75% was wrongly placed and the other 25% was not really edible. The Tuna melt ordered with Cheddar cheese was not cheddar, the Greek Chicken was cooked atleast a day earlier and had definitely been rewarmed as it was so dried out and the cheese on top just tasted off. The sauce it was sitting in was definitely not what I had in past visits. The Cucumber salad side was also way old and soggy. The best part was the side salad and the brocolli. We waited for refills on our sodas but that was really hard to get too as our service was really lacking through the whole experience. I was very disappointed because we used to enjoy dining here as the menu is large and there is something for every taste bud. This just wasn't very tasty this time and would probably not return. First time for dinner. Let me start by saying the star of the night which was our server. I wish I had gotten her name but she was so busy I never had a chance. We were a nightmare group: a chatterbox toddler and a hangry 1 year old. Not to mention the grumpy parents and the a accommodating grandparents. Clam strip appetizer: yummy. Salmon dinner: on point. Hadn't been to this Lester's location in several years, but it fit our criteria in meeting a family member from out of town for brunch. We had great service and great food at a great price! They tucked us away in a nice corner round booth, which was really nice for visiting. Everything was perfect! Lester's is a staple in the Sunrise area near the Sawgrass mall. It is south of Sunrise on 136th minutes away from the BB&T center. It was established in 1967 and was there before the Sawgrass corporate park which it sits on the perimeter of. If you are planning to go there after reading this review, look for the sign and use GPS because it is really easy to drive right by it unless you know its there. The food is great. I have been here a good 10 times, always for breakfast. My friends have told me they are great for lunch and dinner as well. Since they are open 24 hours, this would be a great spot for late night eats when you need your food fix after a night of drinking and dancing. read more
