The other cosmetologists seemed to be working equally hard to please their customers. They are all really classy and nice. The front desk girl was very nice also. I was pretty happy with my haircut. I also had a facial, which was my first ever and it was wonderful. It lasted an hour and the person doing it, Dee (I think) was really friendly, thorough, and seemed knowledgeable and thoughtful about her recommendations to me. She didn't automatically recommend the most expensive thing either (it was actually one of the less expensive ones), which makes me trust that she really cares about helping you address your skin issues and needs rather than just out to make money. My skin felt so awesome and my pores have not looked that good in a LONG time. I will definitely go back there again. What I didn't like: There was some scheduling issues between the different services (face, hair, massage, etc) so hopefully they can get that all in sync with one another to run more smoothly. I also didn't like that I was quoted $35 for a haircut by a junior stylist, but was charged $45. I did not say anything about it because they seem to be really hard working and I just didn't feel right trying to bargain about it, but they need to be clear how much things cost on the phone so that you don't get charged an unexpected amount after your service. And plus, $45/hour to cut hair is a little steep considering my husband had to work about three hours in the hot sun doing hard labor to earn the same money I paid her to do that. For that reason, I probably won't do haircuts there in the future. They don't have manis and pedis, but if they do get them, I will probably do that from time to time as well as a facial every once in a while because overall I like the place and people.

I had a terrible experience this past Sunday at my 10 AM appointment, and unfortunately, my two…read moredaughters (ages 5 and 11) had to witness the unprofessionalism firsthand. Up until now, I had been a loyal customer of Milano Nails and a fan of Kim, as reflected in my previous positive Yelp reviews. This only made what happened even more disappointing and confusing. During the appointment, I tried to share what I thought was a compliment--explaining how Daniel, the owner, mentioned Kim was the best technician for builder gel. To my surprise, Kim responded dismissively, saying, "No, we can all do builder gel, but Daniel schedules me with all of the hard-to-please clients that complain the most." I was shocked. This comment, made in front of my daughters, was not only unprofessional but deeply insulting. I have never complained and consider myself easygoing, so I didn't understand why she would say this. When I asked for clarification, Kim became defensive and increasingly aggressive. Her tone and rough handling of my nails only escalated the situation. As someone with a disability who is in constant pain, this unnecessary roughness was unacceptable. After the session, I stepped into the bathroom to collect myself, only to find out later that Kim ran to the front to defend herself to the acting manager while I wasn't present. She then came around the front of the counter towards me and my children in front on the manager. This entire experience left me confused, embarrassed, and deeply disappointed. Milano Nails has always been my go-to, but this incident and the owner defending this employee makes me know without question that I cannot continue supporting this business. Respect, safety and professionalism should be the standard--not optional.
