I just had a terrible experience at this Les Schwab. It was by far the worst experience I've ever had in the nineteen years I've been patronizing Les Schwab. The first time I ever visited Les Schwab was when I was pregnant with my daughter, who recently turned eighteen. I had a tire go flat, and my daughter's father told me Les Schwab would fix it for free. I said, "Really?" Fast forward to this morning, when a tire that I recently purchased from Les Schwab popped on the highway, putting my life in danger. Fortunately, I happened to be approaching a pullout, which I pulled into. I called AAA, and had my car towed to this Les Schwab. The only reason I chose to have my car towed to Les Schwab, at this point, was because these tires were still under warranty. I just purchased these tires on August 15 2025, and have only driven them about 20,000 miles. The tow truck driver left my car where he's supposed to, and dropped off the keys. After a few minutes, I decided to take a walk. When I went outside, I was shocked to see a Les Schwab employee driving my car all the way across to the very furthest port away, a distance of about 300 yards, on a completely flat tire that was flat to the rim. I would never do this myself. I had taken care to pull over quickly so as to not damage my rims. After a few more minutes, I was informed that even though my tire was under warranty, they would not be replacing it for free. They tried to blame me for the tire popping because I hadn't had my tires rotated with them, even though I had them rotated twice at Walmart. They tried to sell me a tire for $250, saying it was the only one they had in stock. I told them to put the spare on so I could leave. I sat down and started writing a Yelp review. I'm pretty sure they saw me. At this point another employee called me back up and said that actually, they had just found a used tire upstairs for $35. If I wanted they could put that on just to get by. MY TIRES WERE NOT EVEN HALFWAY THROUGH THEIR WARRANTY AND THEY POPPED ON THE HIGHWAY FOR NO REASON. I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY ANYTHING. I told him I was really upset and planning to go buy new tires elsewhere. He made no attempt to save the sale. I paid $38 for the used tire. I was literally on my way to Chico TO BUY TIRES. I was already planning to replace my back tires today. But after that? You can bet your bottom I'm on my way to have it done somewhere else. I'm planning on filing a complaint with the BBB to ask for a refund on the full price I paid on these tires on August 15. read more

went in unannounced, just to get a quote for new tires and an appointment for installation later in the week... they had the tires I wanted in stock, they were cheaper than I expected, they said "we can do your car RIGHT NOW" -- I asked how long would it be, they said an hour, I walked across the street and had a burrito at Los Tapatios, came back after and the car was done in 45 minutes; the shop was full when I got there, but for some reason I got VIP service. I've done business at many Les Schwab Tire places from here to Sacramento and in between, but this shop on East Avenue gets an extra special gold star... since I'm in Chico forever now, this will be my tire place! the staff was exceptionally friendly (and recommended the restaurant across the street, which also has a stellar ice cream parlor too) read more

I was visiting family and had wanted to get a service on my Lincoln before we visited but couldn't fit it in. So, when I got to Chico, I called Les Schwab as I had heard they were a good company and they were able to get my car in the next day. The staff was friendly and took time to make sure they were doing the services I wanted. Dropped it off and they had it done in a couple hours, earlier than I had anticipated. They did a great job and the car was in good hands. If you need tires or an oil change this is a great shop to come to. read more

Since moving to Chico, they have replaced a flat; done tire rotations; replaced my front brakes AND checked the air in my tires MANY, MANY TIMES, quickly and politely. AWESOME! I appreciate the over 7yrs. of polite and attentive service! When I come in for a free air in tires check, someone always stops what they're doing and comes over right away. The last time I went in the alert attendant noticed I had a nail in one of my tires and it was leaking. They fixed it in 20 min. and before the evening rush. Maybe if Juan wasn't trying to flirt with his assistant, you could actually get a job done. Americas tire in Los Angeles has better service. Sad to see such a good business go downhill. Think twice about using Les Schwab. I purchased 50,000 mile tires and after only 28,000 they were bald. Les Schwab would not stand behind them. Told us that those tires had been discontinued and I would have to buy a full set of new tires. I have been doing business with them for many, many years. I will never use them again! read more

I'll confess I was a Les Schwab fan even before my visit: they're never cranky when I roll up with some oddball vehicle, without an appointment, and asking for random junk (like help removing lug bolts to install shiny wheel simulators). Yesterday was all bad, vehicle-wise. Seems like the power steering was out, the left brakes were locked up, and the tires were low. So I figured I'd start with the air pressure and cope with the other stuff next. Turns out the low air pressure was a tire problem -- it unseated and was literally just hanging on to the rim. (Happily, dual wheels, so I wasn't on the side of the road stuck.) Once identified, they tested the tire for leaks, re-seated it to the rim, and topped up all tires' pressure... even helped me get my precious shiny wheel covers back on. Headed into the office to settle up, but the lad -- whose white shirt was now far less white -- told me I'm good to go, no charge. Rocking service, even after I consumed two of their folks for 45 minutes. (Note to Les -- I'll be back in my home town's store to replace tires on another truck, so we'll still get a sale out of me.) And best of all -- other than the awesome, no charge service -- my brake issue also cleared up, saving me untold dollars and hours, and I was back on the road for home. Sweet! read more

Came in for a nail/screw removal, left with a scraped wheel. The parking attendant was driving like a maniac, 40 mph in reverse as I arrived to pick up my vehicle. I checked on my car before I entered the store to notice a fresh scrape on my front passenger side wheel. I notified the staff and Jose came out to address the situation. Quote "He watched the whole procedure in bay 1,and we didn't even touch that tire." I washed my car yesterday and had no damage to any rims, and even checked all my wheels and tires prior to any work done today. I've been a Les Schwab customer for nearly 40 years - in Oregon, Nevada and California. For decades I literally did no comparison shopping; every time I needed tires or brakes, I simply visited my local Les Schwab and followed their recommendations. Over the past few years, I've been mostly using the Les Schwab on East Avenue in Chico. This shop has changed my opinion 180 degrees, and I'll no longer consider Les Schwab for any services. Here's what has happened to us over the past few years: 1. They sent our car out without the lug nuts properly tightened on one wheel; this was around 2015 or 2016. I had the car serviced (CV joints and more) from another shop a day or two before visiting Les Schwab (on East Ave.), then the car started making a clanking sound from one of the wheels. I thought that a clanking/clicking sound was related to the CV joint work, so I took it back to the original mechanic. However, my mechanic found that the lug nuts were mostly loose and the wheel wasn't secured to the car. That's a BIG strike #1, Les Schwab. 2. Around 2016 or 2017 we bought a complete set of new tires and at least one of them was so poorly balanced - perhaps not balanced at all!? - that the steering wheel shuddered dangerously at highway speeds. We took the car to the Notre Dame location, and they assured us that the car/wheels/tires were fine. We then left for a trip, but had to stop in Orland, where the local Les Schwab confirmed that the tires were improperly balanced and needed to be fixed. (A thumbs up to the Orland location - where they fixed the problem that the Chico locations caused and/or could not diagnose.) 3. Despite strikes 1 & 2, above, I stupidly gave this Les Schwab one more chance in 2018. I purchased a set of tires for a different car, and they recommended that I get the wheels aligned. I made an appointment for the alignment and showed up at the scheduled time. When I checked the car in, I was told that this would require about an hour. I left, returned in almost exactly one hour, and the car was untouched - even though the alignment bay was EMPTY. When I asked about the status, someone literally ran out to get my car into the alignment service bay. They started giving me excuses to explain why the car hadn't even been started by the time it was supposed to be completed. Now I understand that things go wrong, but Les Schwab gave me NO notice that they were running late; they could have told me when I checked the car in or after it had been sitting there for 1/2 hour or 1 hour or... ANYthing would have been better than simply letting me come back when the car was supposed to be ready only to find that they hadn't even started on it. Normally, I would have considered this last problem a minor incident, but given this location's very poor history, this is strike 3 and I'm done with Les Schwab. There are MANY highly-rated (mostly independent) tire & brake shops in Chico. Sadly, I strongly recommend that you use one of them and avoid the Chico Les Schwab shops. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I heard from my oil change place I had a flat tire on my lower right tire on 5/1. The staff was friendly and the service writer was prompt and customer service driven. They said they would even fix the flat for free! This was amazing! So here comes why a 5 star review became a 0 star review. They didnt fix the flat. I recently was in another autoshop for starter problems and during the comp. Inspection they said I had a nail in my right tire. They showed me that there was a nail on the same tire and that there was no evidence of a patch on any tire. I will not be returning to les schwab for any work and will recommend my friends go elsewhere. read more

I waited in the lobby and even after having to get my tires, my car was done quickly. The people that work there are always efficient, and honest. Interesting story...Yesterday, my tire indicator light goes on saying I am at 25 lbs of pressure. I decide to go to Les Schwab on west east ave, across town to have them inspect it and fix it if it does in fact have a leak. The salesman looks at all the tires, informs me that I am in need of new front tires. I purchase two new front tires, not sure now that they were actually bad, and ensured that rear tire flat was fixed. I no sooner get back to Willows and it goes flat. This am, I call and ask how they are going to make it right, sorta like the commercial. The ah ha moment one. well my ah ha moment was that they are doing nothing. They don't send out anyone to fix there mistake and even suggested it might have gotten another flat on trip home. The odds huh? The commercial is misleading and customer service is too. Brought my car in to get an estimate last week. About 75% of the service bays were empty, so I thought I'd arrived at a good time. There were 5 or 6 employees behind the counter, some working intently behind computer screens, others sort of wandering around. One customer was ahead of me in line for 5 minutes. I stood there and waited. And waited. And waited. For 10-15 minutes. Then, figuring they must all be too busy, I went and sat at a table for 5 more minutes. No one acknowledged my presence, let alone said "hello" or "we'll be right with you." It was weird, especially in this economy. Now, I'm a normal, clean-cut guy. I'm patient and respectful. I have worked retail and know the drill. I certainly don't expect royal treatment. But at Les Schwab that day, I felt invisible. It was like no one behind the counter thought it was their job to do customer service. If their service bays were packed with cars, I could understand a wait, but this wasn't the case. RANT: Yesterday I dropped my car off at Wittmeier to get an oil change. I choose to go there because they have a good price and do a multi-point inspection on my vehicle. When I picked up my car at the end of the day, I was looking over the inspection to see what other maintenance my car needed. The inspection sheet said my brakes are between 20-50%, I need immediate attention to my cv drive axle boots or driveshafts and u-joints, as well as new rear tires (which I was already aware of). Wittmeier quoted me $600 for front and rear brakes, even though they had already resurfaced my rotors in March. I thought that was ridiculous, so today, I took my car to Les Schwab for a brake inspection (which is a completely free service) Les Schwab informed me my brakes are at about 70% and my cv axle/driveshaft/u-joints are completely fine. I'm so incredibly disappointed that Wittmeier chooses to treat their customers this way. Was it because I'm a female and they think I don't know any better and will just throw money at them to fix whatever they say needs fixing? Do they try to take advantage of all of their customers? I'm sure I'm not the only person that has had an issue with Wittmeier. One thing is for sure, they just lost a customer for good. Not only will I not take my vehicle to get serviced there, but I will not be buying a vehicle from them in the future. Thank goodness for Les Schwab and their honesty and helping me save a pile of money! It's nice to know there are auto shops that don't try to take advantage of their customers! What a GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! I was on my way from Chico to Sacramento in my RV, but I had two flat outer dually rear tires, and I drove on in today to see what the issue was. Mike helped us and quickly found that I had several issues, two leaky extension pipes and a cracked wheel which was leaking air. Did I mention that it was 106 degrees? It sure was, but Mike got it all fixed up quick and the repair cost was super reasonable! If I could have given SIX stars I would have. Go see Les Schwab and ask for Mike...SUPER!! read more
