    Rosé all day

Stumbled on this place based on Yelp review and wow what a gem! This was the exact dining experience I had hoped for when coming to Paris. A simple yet elegant restaurant with outdoor seating, authentic french seasonal menu and a place frequented by locals - check mark. We were able to get seated at a small table outside on a Thursday night without a reservation, however the restaurant did fill up very quickly. It helped that we showed up right as the restaurant opened. The chalkboard menu changes daily and is entirely in French. Thankfully the staff was kind enough to translate it and walk us through it. We got a very nice bottle of L'Opaline Rose and some appetizers (or entrees as is said in French) to start. The foie gras torchon and gazpacho were perfect. The foie didn't have any of that funk you can sometimes find in a lot of torchons in the states. It was served with compote and toasted French bread - purely delicious. The gazpacho had a much silkier texture than what I was expecting. Unassuming in presentation but very tasty as well - probably the best preparation I've had of the chilled vegetable soup. We also just got a green leafy salad which is worth mentioning as well - so fresh and better than the greens we are used to in a housemade balsamic. For entrees (or Plats in French) we got the tuna cooked on the plancha with tomatoes and eggplant as well as the filet of beef with gratin. The seared tuna, accompanied by tomatoes and eggplant dressed in pesto, brought out the rich flavors of this hearty protein. I know this dish sounds super basic but the flavors were so forward and precise. The beef was also delicious and that gratin - oh man! The meal ended on an incredible high with a duo of desserts that were exquisite. I ordered the almond cake with pistachio ice cream. I've had pistachio ice cream countless times but this was the ONLY instance in which it actually taste like pistachio and no that fake amaretto crap. This ice cream actually had the nuttiness you get from eating a pistachio. The almond cake was served warm and so soft and luscious. My wife got the flambeed apricots in a raspberry sauce with ice cream and crushed pistachios. I'm not a dessert person at all, but these two dishes even made me melt. Three weeks later I am still thinking about this meal. This food was exactly what I had hoped for when dining in Paris. I can safely say I've yet to come across French food like this in the states - I'm sure it exists but this caliber of contemporary French cuisine is special. To note, the waitstaff was very nice and accommodating to the fact that we only spoke English. I'll surely be back the next time I am in Paris!

The food was incredible. Coming from Nova Scotia, never thought I'd come to Paris to taste the best scallops. Well done chef. Ambience was great. Small place, menu changes every day, friendly staff.

Superb! Just the right ambience and quality of food for a mid afternoon break between museums and shopping on rive gauche. A cosy space with a great selection of unique fare with excellent service. We enjoyed 2 small plates each and shared a delightful dessert over coffee and cappuccino. Some of the best vin blanc of our trip so far.

I made the right choice for dessert. Chocolate lava cake with ice cream, sprinkled with chopped pistachios. Mmmmmmmm

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here on our last night in Paris on Saturday night. Our hotel was kind enough to make us an 8:30 pm reservation and it was right beside our hotel which was very nice. We shared a delicious appetizer of piquillo peppers with chèvre. We both had the steak with potatoes au gratin. They were really the best I've ever had! The staff was helpful and friendly. They helped us pick out a nice red wine to help compliment our meal. For dessert we shared the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. It was heavenly. I could tell they knew I liked my food as all of my plates sent back to the kitchen were all but licked clean! Ha. I definitely recommend this restaurant and I hope to return the next time I an fortunate enough to return to this beautiful city.

    Very nice atmosphere.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

We loved watching Chef Hugo cooking. Plus, what he prepared was delicious! We started with the ravioli appetizer we see so often recommended. Excellent! Dinners were a beef dish and a chicken dish. There are two tables essentially in the kitchen (a true "Chef's Table" arrangement) and maybe 6 tables in the adjoining room. We were welcomed warmly. Deborah was the hostess and server. Chef Hugo is visible in the kitchen, working very hard to make everything just perfect. They brought bread immediately (my husband loved the sliced baguette--it was perfect and chewy as it should be, but not hard). We ordered a bottle of wine, a Macon Villages, which was perfect. I had the cucumber salad appetizer, which was so fresh. My husband ordered the ravioli appetizer--tiny little rectangles in a scrumptious sauce--a work of art. I ordered the fish and shrimp plate. The sauce was amazing and it was a huge portion of tender white fish. My husband had the lamb with frites. It was nicely seasoned & perfectly done. For dessert, my husband enjoyed a chocolate treat and I had refreshing raspberry sorbet. Deborah was so friendly and solicitous throughout the meal. I have never felt so well taken care of. (I have seen some comments from people who are unhappy that they can't just walk in. They don't appear to understand that there is only one seating. People arrive when they do and they linger. Empty tables seen from the street do not mean the place is not fully booked. Make a reservation well ahead of time. It is worth it!)

We were seated at a table facing the smaller street with IKEA City. Not much people-watching happened given shops were already closed in the evening and thus less people shopping on the streets. We ordered the croque monsieur and croque madame. The difference between the two is that the croque madame comes with a fried sunny side up egg. This was heavy but so yummy! The egg yolk makes a great sauce to soak up this cheesy and hammy toast. This came with a salad on the side which had a vinegar based dressing coated on it. The only thing is we had miscommunication with the waitress about drinks. We asked for water (l'eau) but they gave us distilled water in a bottle which costed us 8 euros. I learned it's important to learn to specifically ask for carafe d'eau (tap water in French) to get free water! Felt a bit bad that we were overcharged. Just gotta be careful with communicating next time. All in all, I enjoyed trying the amazing sandwich that is a croque madame. Wanted to give 4 stars for the food but the bottled water still irks me.
