My dear friend surprised me with an order shipped to my residence in Raleigh NC. I received one pound of candy and one pound of OG oxtails. The candy oxtails were delicious!! I was unable to consume the OG oxtails the bold flavor was too much they honestly tasted like they were bad(not fresh). Thought about going to a local Jamaican restaurant to get ox tail gravy to smother them in but that would be a waste times 2. Update- decided to try my homemade barbecue sauce on the OG's, tasted like a really good piece of brisket. read more

Being from the South, I've purchased and eaten some of the best BBQ in my 50 plus years. LES BBQ in SLC was hands down the absolute best. We arrived as a family of five "after" 5 o'clock in the evening. Why is this important? The meat is cooked in the early hours of morning and served throughout the day. Late evening is when you observe the true artistry of the chef. The brisket had the right ration of meat to fat. The brisket melted in the mouth like butter. Pulled pork also succulent, juicy and tinder. The ribs were tender, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection but I do think they were slightly leaner than the other cuts. The ribs were extremely pleasurable but I would rate them behind the brisket and pulled pork. The establishment was extremely clean and his staff... if I had a SLC restaurant I would have recruited them for myself. The three gentlemen working 8/13 were putting out plates at the speed of fast food establishments. We received our condiments, food and drinks for five in less than 10 minutes. Mindful there were 4 customers ahead of us upon ordering. Oh, the mac, dirty rice and banana pudding did not disappoint. Really pleasurable experience... read more

Native Texan here. Was excited to try this place. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Had the loaded baked potato. Just...no. Processed liquid cheese instead of the real thing? Not good. No sweet tea. No true Texas BBQ style sides. If you go here thinking this is what BBQ in Texas is like, think again. Very disappointed. read more

The service was friendly, very clean. The meat was extremely fatty. We got brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The saving grace was the sides, mac and cheese and baked beans were so good! If I went back, I would just get all the sides! read more

Its Friday and I hit the wall. After working all week, I am out of creativity, critical thought, or a clear direction on which way to go next on any project. So, I thought what about lunch today? What if I stopped and actually ate a non-working lunch. I remembered seeing something earlier in the morning about a new barbecue shop in Draper. Les BBQ Sandwiches. Their place is just minutes away so I rendezvoused there with my wife to assess what they might have on the menu. We both love BBQ. Good BBQ. Finding good BBQ, well that's another story. She's from Oklahoma and Texas, I've traveled to and through Oklahoma and Texas - a lot. So, needless to say we have over the course of our lives sampled and consumed a lot of Texas BBQ, notwithstanding Oklahoma, or that in Kansas City or Saint Louis. I pulled into the parking lot, and waited for my watch to click 11 AM, and her arrival. At 11:00 o'clock and 5 seconds I walked to the door and before opening it, was greeted with the great smell of proper smoke wafting in the air. I was no sooner inside and looking at a menu when person after person after person after a person filed in behind me, they must also have been waiting in their car for 11 to strike. As I looked at the menu, and texted back and forth with my wife about what she may like to eat I heard many orders going in for brisket sandwiches, baked potatoes with brisket, but in a great quantity was the request for the oxtail. Hmmm - oxtail. We finally settled on a rack of spareribs (Saint Louis cut), and a baked potato with brisket. The food came out quickly and with a smile from the staff. The ribs were probably the heaviest full rack I've received in ages and was anxious to open the lid. However, I noticed the potato and brisket had to weigh the same or more than the ribs. As you can see from the pictures the portions were quite worth the dollar. We should probably admit that we are brisket and rib snobs which is why we went to those items first, as those two must be spot on - if you're going to sustain and grow a business. With the first rib picked up - the smell of sweet saturating smoke overtook my thoughts as it neared my face. Nice smoke ring and the obviosity of tenderness as I watched the first drop of juice drop right onto my shirt. LOL The ribs are done masterfully with a nice resistant bite and pull and an absence of toughness. The rub is perfect to the palate and the first thing that crossed my mind was the Salt Lick in Driftwood Texas. Wow the rub is outstanding and balanced to the meat and the depth of the smoke - a rib like none I have had outside of Texas. For the potato - it looked the size of a child's football, or it has to be a gigantic Idaho Russet-Burbank, splayed open and topped well with butter, chives, cheese and sour cream (we asked for the brisket on the side and had already eaten some before the pic). The potato was perfectly baked and the brisket...the brisket was a good-sized serving with an addictive bark, evidence of a deep purple smoke ring and moist and juicy the whole way through. Wow. Wow. We have been searching for good ribs and brisket for a long time and found some that were good, most that were meh but these - here they are! BAM And although the house BBQ sauce is good - do not put sauce on these ribs or brisket before trying them naked. We ate until we were done - and there was lots left. We packed our stuff (leftovers to share at home) and as we were - more customers keep coming in the store. Most are asking for oxtail. So.....well... should we try the oxtail? Once you place your eyes on a bowl of the oxtail - you have to try the oxtail. I am an oxtail fan - prepared many ways over the years, but not Les's way. So, we got a bowl to take home. Then we asked about the mac & cheese. No cheese sauce here we were informed but real made in the pan oven baked M&C. So, then came another order - some for later with that oxtail. So, now we had the leftover bag and the new bag of M&C and oxtail. On the table was this lonely fork just lying there. What should we do, put the fork in the bag and take it along? NO! Let's try the oxtail and M&C NOW. M&C - yep - spot on. I could find myself facedown with a bowl of mac & cheese topped with brisket any day. Try the M&C. The quick sample of oxtail: nice bark, good smoke, MOIST, tender and absolutely delish. Cannot wait to dig into it right later - it will be killer. IMHO not Texas-style BBQ, but dang-straight Texas BBQ - here in Draper. Absolutely great people running the restaurant, absolute smokingly good food - we will be back. We will be back. At 11:00. Before the crowds. While everything is still in supply. I do need a Candy Red Oxtail T-Shirt..... read more

Finally! This is the best BBQ in Salt Lake. I'm guessing they are going to need a bigger restaurant as they grow and word gets out. I hope they can keep the food this fantastic. We had the oxtails, brisket, ribs, and pulled pork and all were perfectly done. We will be back read more

Best sausage I've tasted. I'm glad I waited and the customer service and delivery was above and beyond.

Bro I had to drive to Washington and back to Dallas. So I made the detour with my family thru Utah just to support the homie from TX. Man I was disappointed that the store had ran out of softballs and nuggets, and chicken. I don't eat pork but the brisket was slamming. Sad I didn't get what I came for and been longing for but happy cuz if u sold out, that means the store is popping. Don't know when I'll get back that way, but if so Imma stop back and I hope I get a chance to meet you as well. Kenneth from Oak Cliff. kenneth.muhammad@yahoo.com. Peace bro and much continued success. read more

I was really looking forward to trying the famous smoked oxtails at Les BBQ and drove over 20 minutes just for that. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The restaurant had very few tables and they were all full, so I had to take my food to go. When I got home, I realized my order was wrong -- the oxtails and dirty rice were missing, and I was given ribs and beans instead. I don't know if they mixed up my order or just forgot, but I was especially upset because I went there specifically for the oxtails. To make things worse, the ribs were dry and tough. Sadly, this visit left a bad impression and I don't plan to go back. read more

The food was phenomenal. I got the oxtail. A little pricy, but worth it in my opinion. I will be back!

The food here was AMAZING! So FULL of flavor! We were a little disappointed because we flew all the way here just to try the oxtails and they were sold out when we were there. My husband also ordered the oxtail sausage cabbage and did not get it. We didn't realize until we got back to the hotel. I ended up getting the ribs Mac and cheese and dirty rice and it was sooo good! My husband got the brisket dirty rice and the oxtail sausage cabbage (which he actually didn't get in his plate) and the brisket has a lot of flavor as well. Overall very great food! read more

( Tampa your review)I honestly wanted to try the oxtails but there were other plans. We arrived at 1:30 and waited in line. We reached to place an order around 3:15 pm and was told it would be 30 mins. After around 45 minutes someone came out and told us 45 minutes until done . After another 45 minutes we were told the braised oxtails they had were reserved for VIP since they purchased tables. As much as I wanted to give a good review I just can't. I think if the meals are already preset up as a platter have it ready. If VIP takes priority have that posted somewhere so people are aware. Have the prices stated and that there are additional options( this being on a flyer or posted on social media), have everyone on one page( people couldn't give answers and everyone was running around to find out.). Many of us waited outside for hours only to be disappointed. There should have been a separate event rather than having it all together. These are mistakes that yes can be corrected (maybe ) but when so many people aren't given answers, and things aren't transparent you receive the reviews that you get. I know there will be many reviews from many many people that aren't good vs the reviews of the small select of VIP table recipients that paid. Their money or business was worth more I guess. Maybe he does well in other locations but for here this was not worth it . ( Just so it's clear the money was not an issue as I don't mind an experience or t read more

Incredible Texas BBQ! Staff was friendly and the restaurant was spotless! Les came and asked how the food was and shook my hand. Brisket, ribs and ox tails.... Some of the better brisket sandwiches I've had. I would go back, just beware there isn't really any seating inside.

I grew up in Texas with barbecue being a part of my culture. Good barbecue is one thing that I've been missing since moving to Utah. Les has literally brought Texas to Utah with his barbecue. It's the best barbecue in Utah by far and rivals the best I've ever had. I first tried Les' barbecue at a festival 2 years ago, and I've been going to festivals since then hoping that they would be there. I'm elated to have the restaurant to go to now. read more

What a wonderful staff! The restaurant was clean and bright. I did go get food two days in a row. The ribs both days were meaty and moist. Nothing worse than dry ribs! The beans and loaded potato were delicious sides. One of these days I'll have to try the ox tail read more

Was in Utah for the Nationals Junior Volleyball championship tournament and my barber suggested I go to Les bbq. He follows Les bbq on YouTube and it's on his bucket list. Well neither I nor my family was disappointed. Les bbq had no misses. We had the oxtail and beef sausage, the brisket, spare ribs, and chicken for the proteins. Unfortunately they had sold out of the smoked oxtails, which is why I wanted to come but even without the signature smoked oxtails we were not disappointed. The dirty rice was perfect, the bbq beans were hearty and delicious, the loaded half was off the chain, and the Mac and cheese was the best we ever had, this came from my wife and kids who are mac and cheese snobs, lol. This was not only the best bbq spot we have been but this is in our top 3 places to eat in our humble opinions. The service was on point. as well. Bar none the best meal we have had in our moderate travel experience in the various states we have been in. read more

I have had BBQ in Kansas and Texas and this place is seriously legit! Service was great, fast and friendly. It's a fairly small place so there isn't a huge amount of seating so be prepared if you have a large group. We ordered the Brisket, pulled pork, and oxtail; all of which was amazing, definitely the best in Utah. We will be back again! read more

Ok so for starters, how often do you see the owner of the company working side by side with their employees? Next the establishment itself. The minute you get out your vehicle that smoke hits you in the face. So you know that smoke is what's to be expected in the food. The cleanliness of the inside and outside of this place speaks volumes of how this establishment takes pride in not just their food but also the appearance of the place. No let's talk about the food. I ordered (2) 3 meat plates with Mac and cheese, sausage and cabbage as my sides. For my meats I ordered the chicken, ribs, brisket and of course the "Oxtails "! The smoke ring I saw in the meats told me the story about how Mr Les takes pride in his craft! He has definitely mastered his technique and flavors and is representing the bbq culture of the state of Texas!! The chicken is moist, tender, flavorful. As was the ribs, brisket and the sides are very delicious. Now, let's talk about these oxtails I keep hearing about. I took my first bite of one of these oxtails and let me tell you something I damn near passed out! I was overwhelmed with smoked, very tender, very flavorful, very delicious "OXTAILS "!!! So if you looking to get your bbq fix, you need to get with this Les bbq mix!! So to sum this all up and to make it as simple as possible! No need to look any further for real bbq. Les bbq is where it's at! I will be back again very soon for some more good bbq! If you want the best , let Les be your test! Peace! read more

I had the worst experience on my second visit. I enjoyed it so much the first time I traveled from Dallas to Utah for some more oxtails. I tried calling in and nobody answers the phone. I went to Les BBQ to try the ox tails. It was very tasty from the seasonings and tender in the inside. Mash potatoes were delicious too. Service was good and the place was clean and welcoming. Let me say that this shop is for sure Texas in every way!! Food is great from the baked potato to the frito pies. The candy red apples are the real deal. Les Barbecue is delicious! The chicken is to die for. The brisket is so tender, there is no need for a knife. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing. They have great sides, including mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, beans, and dirty rice. I wish they offered Cole slaw as I like to add that to pulled pork. The restaurant is super clean and the service was friendly. There is limited seating but it travels well for takeout. The Diet Coke was nice and fizzy. read more

Great new BBQ place. Best brisket I've had in the state. Also got the oxtail which was amazing which is really rich and kind of pricey, but worth it. Never had it before. Will definitely be back many times. Only negative is that there are no tables to eat at other than two small two person off to the side. So plan on take out and they have a drive thru. Not a big deal at all, but is good to know in advance. read more

Best bbq in the state, hands down. Brisket is tender and juicy every time. Pork is succulent and delicious. Chicken is juicy and not dry. The sides are always delicious and complement the meat well. Best ox tail hands down! first time trying this spot... definitely recommend for anyone who loves bbq ox tail 5-star

Been there 4 times never had the opportunity to try. 1st time there was 2 people separately waiting for orders no one came to take my order as I Stood at the register for 5 minutes. I left, the next time I Witnessed a employee taking out the trash then went behind the counter and started preparing food. The 3rd time was like the first. I went to the register and stood there 45 minutes again no employee acknowledged me no employee came to take my order. Then today I tried the Drive through i order and tried to pay & was told we don't take 100$ bills or 50's. I try to support this business but the service is Severely lacking. Bro hire new people. Put up cameras so you Can monitor your employees. read more

Was good. As a Texan I found it slightly over priced. There were no real sides other than chips. There also was no iced tea.

First off, the price of oxtails compared to the portion is absolutely amazing! When I lifted it from the container to the plate, it fell apart. That is what made me come here; the presentation of the videos on Instagram. It didn't fail me. My husband is from Atlanta and explained the banana pudding as "something else," and it made him look around in disbelief. Five stars aren't enough. The staff made it feel special, and you can tell every item is made with love! Thanks, y'all! read more
