Im in town for work and stumbled on this place as I was walking towards the water. Its natural that a human like me that lives in the desert would make a beeline for the water, the soul yearns to see it. A sleek and inviting bar with an excellent mixologist making the visit relaxed, worthwhile and a great way to end a Friday night. I started off with a barbarita which is tequila, strega, celery, jalapeño and citrus. This was just excellent, I haven't had a good cocktail in a long time and this was so needed. And the strega - gosh I love this, had hints of fennel, juniper, anise and so many others, my mouth was having a party! Next, I had some oysters, how can you be in coastal city like SF and not have some? I like them buttery and not briny. I had all the different oysters on the menu and they were great, and one from Washington state was less buttery and I could tell. Overall, super tasty oysters with a pinch of lemon and horseradish. Mixologist was really nice and we got chatting about music. Ordinary World by Duran Duran came on and l had to tell the bartender I literally just went to the show. Well one skip and a jump later, he tells me Metallica played with the SF Symphony and that blew my mind. Metal and classical definitely works and this could only have been epic. Ill have to go look this up. Overall, a really nice place for a great cocktail, some oysters, perfect setting and interesting conversation. I'll be back. read more

Went to Leo's Oyster Bar and it's a small but super cute spot with a fun vibe. The drinks and oysters were solid, definitely what I'd recommend sticking to here. It seems I must have visited on a particularly bad day for the kitchen. While Leo's Plato offers a selection of 12 oz fresh oysters, the cocktail shrimps were overcooked. The surf and turf was the worst plate I've eaten anywhere. The French fries were heavily oversalted. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it arrived overly well done--dry and chewy like rubber. Additionally, the BBQ shrimp were unacceptably dry and salty. Given what we paid, we could have enjoyed much better food elsewhere. Made a reservation here for Monday night at 5:45 but didn't need it, as almost all the tables were available. The bar area is very eye catching. There's mood lighting and candles, and it's easy to hear your own conversation. We were given a nice corner table with comfy booth seating, giving us a view of the entire place. We stopped in here on our trip to San Francisco and there is no place I've been that has tickled my fancy for ambiance quite like Leo's. The island vibe is met perfectly with sophistication and elegance. As always a solid measure of how dedicated an establishment is to their decor: the gender neutral bathrooms are also well appointed and on theme! The menu is also aesthetically elegant and on-theme. The food: truly delightful high culinary faire. The cocktails: superb. Parking: don't really know since we walked across the street from the hotel. The service here is top tier! Many establishments have great service. However, few have truly top tier service, as evidenced by attentiveness overall and doing the little extras few do like folding your napkin if you have momentarily stepped away. I love it here. This spot is such a vibe! We wanted to find a bougie, but cozy restaurant to go to for dinner after we got married at SF City Hall and Leo's Oyster Bar was perfect! We appreciated being greeted with glasses of complimentary champagne to celebrate our special night! And of course we started with a dozen oysters - so fresh and delicious. We also started with the warm rolls with butter and omg they were sooo good. Definitely recommend. The lobster roll was also amazing. A little small, but that seems to be typical with lobster rolls. The menu dishes we would probably skip next time were the fancy fries and prawn risotto. Maybe they got our fries order wrong, but we didn't really see caviar or egg on them and the risotto was just ok. Not super flavorful. WOW! Leo's Oyster Bar was the perfect vibe for a fun date night in the city. Angel was amazing - he greeted us, sat us, served us, checked in regularly and gave us recommendations of places nearby to try. He was super friendly and was like the glue to the whole experience, and the experience is next level! Sam brought out our platter and was also extremely sweet. The only thing that threw me off at Leo's was the music - it was all over the place and had so many different vibes while we were there (one minute club mix and the next minute oldies). I like them all but it definitely could have been more streamlined. We ordered the Bubble Bath as our first cocktail and started with the Buttered Rolls (Hawaiian rolls grilled with an herb butter), both delicious! The Grand Plateau is the star of the show at Leo's - a dozen oysters, 4 Diamonds and Pearls (oysters with caviar), shrimp cocktail (6), and Leo's Crudo (2 sets of yellowtail, tuna and salmon with a light habanero sauce). Every bite was mouthwatering perfection. I ordered it thinking if we're only here once, let's go big, but we will absolutely be coming back on our next trip to SF. Pricy but great for drinks/snacks! My friend and I had made a reservation for Friday evening, but probably didn't need one because the restaurant was far from full. The hostess was so sweet and moved us to a 4-top table, so that we'd be more comfortable with my service dog. The interior was stunning! I loved the fern wallpaper, pink marble bar, all the plants, etc. and the ambiance was somehow both playful and elegant. For drinks, I got a glass of the Roseblood Rose and my friend chose the Treveri Brut Rose. Both were delightfully dry - exactly what we wanted. In general, the drinks menu was tiny, but they also had a handful of signature cocktails. For food, we skipped the mains and ordered a bunch of snacks to share - the Oysters, Leo's Crudo, Deviled Eggs, Burrata Toast, and Fancy Fries. With the Oysters, we just got 2 of each variety, and all 4 were fresh and delicious. I could've eaten at least a dozen more, but couldn't justify it at $5-6/oyster. The Leo's Crudo was a better value option and featured 3 different types of fish. All 3 were fantastic, but the salmon was our favorite. The Deviled Eggs with wing-fried oyster were super unique, and I'm glad I got to try one. The aftertaste was a bit too salty for me though. It's hard to mess up a Burrata Toast, and this one was delicious - the sweet and savory flavors went so well together! Finally, the Fancy Fries were a fun experience. The fries themselves were perfectly cooked and I loved the grated cheese on top. But dipping them into the softboiled egg with caviar really elevated the experience. The portion size was also substantial, so we really felt full after this item. These photos of the cute wall are very deceiving... it's actually an extremely small spot and there is literally only one table that has this view. LOL. The bar takes up most of the space and they can seat 4 or 5 tables beyond that. As a result, the gal next to us was seated so close that when she got up to leave I had to move the candle so she didn't accidentally light her booty on fire. The food was okay. Oysters were fresh, the dynamite sauce was good, but the crab claws were hard to dig out from the shell (to me that usually means it's not as fresh) and the shrimps were just meh. We ordered some rolls for the carbz, and quickly realized that we were just served store bought Hawaiian rolls with butter on top - which is fine, but they certainly did not let that adjust down the overall price point. Imagine finishing work, strutting down the street, and strolling into a place with the atmosphere of the Beverly Hills Hotel. That's Leo's Oyster Bar. I came here for a drink after work last week and I loved it! The space is impeccably decorated, the staff were all lovely, attentive, and chatty, and the drinks were delicious. I got the Bubble Bath (a fun floral take on a gin fizz) and it truly tasted like a good bubble bath smells, in the best possible way. I didn't have any food because I had a dinner reservation elsewhere, but I'm eager to come back give their food a try! I'm thinking this will be a new regular post-work hangout for me. Leo's Oyster Bar is a great place to go after work in FiDi. Cocktails start at $16 and ordering the fries as a snack is just $8 (pretty well portioned). When my collègues and I went max service was great and the waiter gave us plenty of space to explore the menu while also being well informed to make suggestions. In addition, they checked our bags which was an experience I hadn't had before. The inside of this bar is really well decorated and provides a moodier ambiance the further inside you go. They don't have a happy hour which is a bit disappointing, and the bar also didn't seem to be too filled during that post-work time. It's a great place to grab a quieter, intimate drink but not if you're looking for something lively. Overall, would return here if I was walking distance but not somewhere I would go out of my way to visit. read more

So, the ambiance, the food, and the drinks were all fantastic. Really good. But I can't get over a pretty serious deception.... We ordered several glasses of the Prosecco and received glasses of a sparkling rosé. We casually commented in chit chat with the waitress that we weren't aware that rosé proseccos exist, but we're not experts and we were distracted by fun conversation with our friends. Later, when we wanted more sparkling, we decided to order a bottle. And that's when we found out that they had been knowingly serving us a Spanish rosé sparkling (cava). They got caught only because now they had to bring the bottle to the table and they couldn't hide the fact that they'd been passing off a cava for a Prosecco. It's very possible that the wines were of equal value - that's what they remarked when the bartender brought the bottle. Most of us weren't even aware of what was happening in the moment because we were busy talking. But my husband let us know what happened later. REALLY BAD FORM. NOT OK BEHAVIOR. You probably want to ask for the bottle to be brought to your table when ordering a drink. read more

Always a good spot for oysters, seafood and a good cocktail. Right now you can walk in on most weeknights and get seated easily. Post-COVID and while FiDi is in it's current ice age, Leo's is not nearly as crowded. The menu has been pared back and is pretty slim -- three entree options only. There is no happy hour and oysters are lfour dollars on the half shell but of course they were delicious straight from the local day. I would highly recommend their cocktails if you're in the mood for a little pick me up. We split the spicy salmon bites, which looked beautiful, but I probably would not recommend them. Go with the deviled eggs or the Caesar salad looked amazing. We sat at the bar and got waited on immediately by the bar stuff. They are great, friendly, and have good recommendations for the area. First time here, been wanting to check it out since pre-pandemic days. I was surprised by the space, it's really just an old bar space. I thought I saw that they take coats? In the back portion of the space is their raw bar. They did play some good music, nice vibes. Ordered some kumamoto oysters and beau soleils, fish crudo (sorry if I got that name wrong), lobster roll. The oysters are solid, kumamotos we're small but those are the sweet ones. The crudo was good, I forget the other two fish, but one was hamachi, and the lobster roll was good but small for $40. I really liked their dynamite sauce with their fries that came with the lobster roll, not sure if the fries had lime or some sort of citrus on them. All in all, this place is more vibes and bar, then it is seafood. Those elements are great and the customer service is really good (they deserve an additional half star, really nice staff). With that said though, the food is not really something to write home about and adds up really fast (over $160 after it was all said and done). If I was to come back, I'd be there strictly for drinks and maybe some oysters, but that's about it. read more

Came here in early December with my work friend, and we still talk about Leo's and when we can go back next. Best oysters of my life! This restaurant is cuuuuuute AF. They really went all out on the lovely decor and it's the perfect setting for a date, girls' night out, or any time you just want to treat yourself to a pretty environment (and why wouldn't you?) Lots of photo-op-ready walls. The restaurant is small and narrow, but we didn't have to wait too long on a weeknight. The servers were kind and welcoming, and took our coats to hang since space was limited. Leo's has an actual oyster menu with rotating types/regions. Our server was very knowledgeable in describing which to try and the differences. We also ordered the deviled eggs, brussels sprouts and the lobster roll... they cut it in half for us to share and the fries served with it were fresh, hot and addicting! But yes, best, freshest and most flavorful oysters I've had, and I'm ashamed to say this but I used to think they were all the same. We left being able to tell the difference between what we tried and had new preferences. Leo's had a lot of interesting special cocktails too (the Mai Tai was delicious and strong!) and a great wine list. May not be the best place to take someone who isn't into seafood (there were other options, but not nearly as many) but I loved everything about this place and would come back! read more

We didn't bother to order another or any other drink for that matter, because after watching several people faces when taking a sip of their drinks...they thought they were sour too! *Ordered all 5 of the featured Oysters x 2. They were tasty and fresh but literally 5 minutes into getting the oysters (which come on your typical oyster tray with ice etc) the Deviled eggs came out and there was literally NO ROOM for them. So, we had to move our candle to the ledge (which thankfully we were sitting next to) *Deviled eggs with fried Oyster...the price you see is for ONE deviled egg. Im sorry but for $6 I am not sure why there wasn't an order of 2 especially since the fried oyster was so small we barely noticed it was there if it wasn't for the crunch. Tasty but they were literally a 4 pack of Kings Hawaiian Rolls with butter and herbs. It was supposed to be a "waffle" with burrata, smoked salmon and caviar. I don't remember the price but I think it was about $25 and it was really BAD! This waffle was bland AF!! No fluffy waffle texture and seemed more like a stale flattened english muffin. The burrata was bland and smeared on like thin layer of cream cheese. And the smoked salmon was no better quality then going to a bagel shop and getting a lox bagel. The "caviar"....literally not even 1/2 a teaspoon. Waste of money and taste buds. ***NOW THE WORSE THING EVER..."DINNER"**** I ordered the fish and chips. Simple right..NOPE! The fish had a slimey, soggy texture inside while the batter was crisp but bland and greasy AF on the outside. The cod literally fell apart with every attempt at putting it on my fork, not because it was so fresh and flaky but literally because it seemed like they took cod scraps and tossed it in batter. HORRIBLE! I barely ate 2 bites before calling it quits and sparing my stomach from yacking that shit up! Fries...really tasted like some store brought Ore Ida "restaurant style" fries. They were crispy, but bland almost stale. My BF ordered the salmon "burger" OMG WHAT A JOKE! We first thought it would be a nice salmon filet on a bun. When it came out it wasn't and it looked like a "salmon cake". We assumed this salmon cake would be flavorful and maybe something like a "cod or fish cake" NOPE! It was literally mashed or canned salmon which looked like straight up cat food, formed into an over sized (in diameter) and1/4 inch flat (in height) patty that was battered and fried to holy hell. The batter tasted burned and the "salmon" was flavorless. When we thought ok it would be like a "cod of fish cake" we expected maybe some chopped onions, peppers etc..NOPE Just cat food dredged in batter and fried. The flat patty was too big for the STALE AF bun that they put it on, that for some reason had grill marks on the top probably in an attempt to mask the staleness. DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR...Stick wtih the oysters and maybe champagne or wine. The oysters were well worth the price and I imagine since they won't have to make the champagne or wine, you mouth won't be dried out and puckered up from sour ass lemons they use! You'll also save yourself the hit to the pocket for overpriced appetizers and queasy, gut wrenching dinners! read more
