Part of the surf & turf

It seems I must have visited on a particularly bad day for the kitchen. While Leo's Plato offers a selection of 12 oz fresh oysters, the cocktail shrimps were overcooked. The surf and turf was the worst plate I've eaten anywhere. The French fries were heavily oversalted. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it arrived overly well done--dry and chewy like rubber. Additionally, the BBQ shrimp were unacceptably dry and salty. Given what we paid, we could have enjoyed much better food elsewhere. The reason I gave 3 stars because it was a beautiful restaurant and the service was friendly.

Great drinks, delicious oysters. Went with ones selected by our server. All were super fresh. We also got the tuna and hamachi which had a minced ginger caper spread accompaniment and was delicious. Had a mezcal cocktail I enjoyed. The vibes are overall casual and opened pretty late. Def a hit.

Came here with two coworkers for drinks after dinner. Unfortunately, I can't remember which drinks we ordered, but added photos of the menu. This was a really cute restaurant with some fun cocktails. We sat at the bar and had good service. It was a little loud, but what bar isn't? This would be a cute restaurant for a group birthday, date night, girl's night, etc.

6 assorted oysters

A great place for post-work drinks and small plates with excellent oysters and warm, cozy and relaxing vibes! Made a reservation here for Monday night at 5:45 but didn't need it, as almost all the tables were available. The bar area is very eye catching. There's mood lighting and candles, and it's easy to hear your own conversation. We were given a nice corner table with comfy booth seating, giving us a view of the entire place. We came here for oysters and snacks, and enjoyed everything we ordered: -6 assorted oysters (5/5) these were very tasty! We had our server select the three best types they had that day. -Spicy Salmon Bites (4.5/5) Like a deconstructed sushi roll with crispy rice. -Deviled Eggs (4/5) topped with a 'wing fried oyster', which had a buffalo sauce flavor. -Leo's Crab Cake (4.5/5) tasty!

This place is so cute for a quick bite or a date night. The oysters are so fresh and a bit creamy with sauce. The vibe is amazing and the manager and server were very kind and attentive. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is in the area!

Where ambiance, culinary delights and service exceed expectations! I love Leo's! We stopped in here on our trip to San Francisco and there is no place I've been that has tickled my fancy for ambiance quite like Leo's. The island vibe is met perfectly with sophistication and elegance. As always a solid measure of how dedicated an establishment is to their decor: the gender neutral bathrooms are also well appointed and on theme! The menu is also aesthetically elegant and on-theme. The food: truly delightful high culinary faire. The cocktails: superb. Parking: don't really know since we walked across the street from the hotel. The service here is top tier! Many establishments have great service. However, few have truly top tier service, as evidenced by attentiveness overall and doing the little extras few do like folding your napkin if you have momentarily stepped away. I love it here. If we lived in SF we'd be regulars.

Came here for vday dinner. We were greeted at the door and sat at the bar. The restaurant is dimly lit for a romantic effect. The bartenders that night were very attentive. The food and drinks were made perfectly, but our night was ruined when the blonde lady working at the front that night was condescendingly demanding her colleagues for things. It made us feel very uncomfortable. Her voice was loud and brash and you can tell other customers didn't like her tone when she'd yell at her colleagues. Her demeanor was very unprofessional.

Fancy fries, lobster roll, and risotto

This spot is such a vibe! We wanted to find a bougie, but cozy restaurant to go to for dinner after we got married at SF City Hall and Leo's Oyster Bar was perfect! We made reservations in advance, but probably didn't need to since it was a Monday night. The ambiance is great here. The lighting was dim, but cozy and the bar was beautiful. We appreciated being greeted with glasses of complimentary champagne to celebrate our special night! And of course we started with a dozen oysters - so fresh and delicious. We also started with the warm rolls with butter and omg they were sooo good. Definitely recommend. The lobster roll was also amazing. A little small, but that seems to be typical with lobster rolls. The menu dishes we would probably skip next time were the fancy fries and prawn risotto. Maybe they got our fries order wrong, but we didn't really see caviar or egg on them and the risotto was just ok. Not super flavorful. Overall though it was a fun spot to go on our wedding night and we'd definitely come here again to try different craft cocktails and other dishes!

WOW! Leo's Oyster Bar was the perfect vibe for a fun date night in the city. Angel was amazing - he greeted us, sat us, served us, checked in regularly and gave us recommendations of places nearby to try. He was super friendly and was like the glue to the whole experience, and the experience is next level! Sam brought out our platter and was also extremely sweet. The only thing that threw me off at Leo's was the music - it was all over the place and had so many different vibes while we were there (one minute club mix and the next minute oldies). I like them all but it definitely could have been more streamlined. We ordered the Bubble Bath as our first cocktail and started with the Buttered Rolls (Hawaiian rolls grilled with an herb butter), both delicious! The Grand Plateau is the star of the show at Leo's - a dozen oysters, 4 Diamonds and Pearls (oysters with caviar), shrimp cocktail (6), and Leo's Crudo (2 sets of yellowtail, tuna and salmon with a light habanero sauce). Every bite was mouthwatering perfection. I ordered it thinking if we're only here once, let's go big, but we will absolutely be coming back on our next trip to SF. After dinner I had the Garden Party - also a treat for your tastebuds. I smiled the entire time and will be dreaming of Leo's until we come again.

Pricy but great for drinks/snacks! My friend and I had made a reservation for Friday evening, but probably didn't need one because the restaurant was far from full. The hostess was so sweet and moved us to a 4-top table, so that we'd be more comfortable with my service dog. The interior was stunning! I loved the fern wallpaper, pink marble bar, all the plants, etc. and the ambiance was somehow both playful and elegant. For drinks, I got a glass of the Roseblood Rose and my friend chose the Treveri Brut Rose. Both were delightfully dry - exactly what we wanted. In general, the drinks menu was tiny, but they also had a handful of signature cocktails. For food, we skipped the mains and ordered a bunch of snacks to share - the Oysters, Leo's Crudo, Deviled Eggs, Burrata Toast, and Fancy Fries. With the Oysters, we just got 2 of each variety, and all 4 were fresh and delicious. I could've eaten at least a dozen more, but couldn't justify it at $5-6/oyster. The Leo's Crudo was a better value option and featured 3 different types of fish. All 3 were fantastic, but the salmon was our favorite. The Deviled Eggs with wing-fried oyster were super unique, and I'm glad I got to try one. The aftertaste was a bit too salty for me though. It's hard to mess up a Burrata Toast, and this one was delicious - the sweet and savory flavors went so well together! Finally, the Fancy Fries were a fun experience. The fries themselves were perfectly cooked and I loved the grated cheese on top. But dipping them into the softboiled egg with caviar really elevated the experience. The portion size was also substantial, so we really felt full after this item. Service was fast and friendly, and although the pricing was really up there, we enjoyed our time at Leo's Oyster Bar!

No words can describe this magical place I have spent birthdays every year and the service, ambiance and food is impeccable. Ranked as one of the beautiful restaurant in SF, Leo's has a special place in my heart. The food fries, seafood and oysters are top notch, the decor takes you to a Vintage pin up Hawaii glamour, service 5 stars as always. I will continue to be your loyal customer, no matter the changes, love Leo's forever.

These photos of the cute wall are very deceiving... it's actually an extremely small spot and there is literally only one table that has this view. LOL. The bar takes up most of the space and they can seat 4 or 5 tables beyond that. As a result, the gal next to us was seated so close that when she got up to leave I had to move the candle so she didn't accidentally light her booty on fire. The food was okay. Oysters were fresh, the dynamite sauce was good, but the crab claws were hard to dig out from the shell (to me that usually means it's not as fresh) and the shrimps were just meh. We ordered some rolls for the carbz, and quickly realized that we were just served store bought Hawaiian rolls with butter on top - which is fine, but they certainly did not let that adjust down the overall price point. At $100/pp, could be nice for a first date if you enjoy dim, small spaces with a very, very limited menu of seafood.

Came here a while ago while waiting for a different restaurant to be open before getting impatient…read moreand deciding to eat here anyway. The service was friendly and relatively quick from what I could recall and the ambiance I experienced was mostly outside, which does give you a nice chance to go people-watching if you're into that. I got the Clam Chowder Bowl with a sourdough bread bowl, which was warm and for the chilly San Francisco weather. It was also surprisingly affordable from what I could recall, which is a bit rare when it comes to both San Francisco and outside food in general. Overall, a nice experience. I did come here on impulse and it's not in an area of the pier that I normally go to, but I wouldn't mind coming back again if I coincidentally ended up in this section of the area again.

I should have trusted my instincts from the start. The first red flag was staff standing outside…read moretrying to pull people in off the sidewalk--something I've learned usually doesn't point to high-quality food. Despite that, the restaurant had solid online reviews, so my family and I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly. We started with drinks, and the Bloody Marys were honestly some of the worst I've ever had--completely off in both flavor and balance. For appetizers, we ordered the steamed Dungeness crab, which arrived disappointingly lukewarm. For our main course, my husband and I split a fried seafood platter. The quality was extremely underwhelming--comparable to fast-food seafood, not something you'd expect from a sit-down restaurant in such a well-known area. To make matters worse, the service was nearly nonexistent. Our server never checked on us after dropping off the food. The restaurant wasn't even busy, which made the lack of attention more frustrating. It was clear the focus was more on pulling in new customers than taking care of the ones already seated. We even had to wait longer than necessary just to get our check. For a $200 bill, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. I won't be returning, and I'll definitely think twice before dining anywhere that relies on street solicitation to bring people in.
