Made reservations and had to change the time and the number of guests twice and the staff handled it perfectly. Arrived a little early and had a drink at the bar as we waited for rest of group to arrive. The best dirty martini I've had in a while. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. We had Calamari and Saganaki for the table, both were good but the Gazpacho was excellent. For the main our girls had the surf and turf. The lobster was done correctly and the filet were each cooked to perfection. I am not a fish person that often but our waiter suggested the Halibut and it was excellent as was my wife's Salmon. I was shocked at how reasonable the cost was for the quality of the food and service. Will definitely be coming more often. read more

Servings are large we could've split a main course and a dozen oysters, but we wanted to try both dishes. I had meant to try this place for years, but hate dealing with downtown parking hassles. I finally ended up downtown for work and tried it. It has a classy atmosphere, great staff and an excellent seafood menu. However, I think the food is bested by other places at the same price point such as the Blue Water Grille, Red's at Thousand Oaks, the Flat River Grille, Blue Cow Cafe in Big Rapids and The Hearthstone in Muskegon. I thought the portion size of fish was small and the big error was my soup was lukewarm. The coffee also tasted low rent. Lukewarm soup is a rookie move! Wow! This place was fantastic. No joke - one of the best filet mignon I have had. I had it rare Oscar style. I'm use to steal houses where you order sides a la carte, so it was a bonus to 1) get a great cut of meat and 2) the entree came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I'm a wedge salad lover. Leo's version was a good portion size but I ended up subbing the French Gorgonzola dressing out for traditional bleu cheese. The table multiple desserts: Creme brûlée, tiramisu cheesecake, caramel chocolate torte and some sort of seasonal blueberry bread pudding. The desserts were decent - I expected them to better but still a good sweet tooth satisfaction. In order of my personal preference: 1) Creme brûlée (but had an overly egg taste to it) 2) cheesecake (texture was a bit rubbery) 3) chocolate cake (the combination of milk chocolate, caramel and dark chocolate didn't have a good transition for me) 4) bread pudding (some what on the bland side) Despite maybe a bit of dessert disappointment, the enter itself would bring me back each time! read more

A-maz-ing! By far, the best seafood place in Grand Rapids which easily stands up to fine dining options in the big cities. Do not, I repeat: DO NOT make the mistake of going to Chuck's Krab for your seafood dinner. This establishment is far superior to such chains in the way of quality and value. The ambiance is elegant without being extravagant. The service has always been professional, prompt and friendly. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the meal. Most importantly, the food and drink quality are wonderful. Tip: the attached parking garage is so convenient when the weather outside is frightful! The appetizers are always great and there is something for everyone - including Black & White Tuna Sashimi, Baked Brie, Chicken Spring Rolls or Seared Sea Scallops. The seafood selection is fantastic, is always fresh, and is artfully prepared. The Salmon Corn Chowder is probably the best soup in GR and I just had the Swordfish which was marinaded in a chili-lime sauce. It was exquisitely tender and flavorful. The steak is also excellent! Actually, this is one of the best places to get a steak in Grand Rapids and I almost always add on a 6 oz. Filet to my seafood dish to make my own "Surf and Turf" Lastly, the dessert menu is heavenly. The desserts are prepared in-house and the ever-changing menu is inspired and will be sure to please. First and last time coming here. Had a reservation for a party of nine even though it was practically empty on a Saturday night. The hostesses were nice and accommodating. The menus and the drink menus were splayed over the table like it was thrown there. This is a nicer establishment yet it was lacking in every single way but the price tag that a nicer establishment usually comes with. 1. Hannah the server had an attitude. Rude but she got drinks out fast. Like we've asked about the sangria and got told "It's red or white. That's it." We saw her look at another table and smile and be friendly and literally go back to aloof and cold to our table. We got our appetizers and dinner orders in by 10. She told us after we ordered food that they close at 10:45. Asked one person if they were done with the dish and wanted a box. Then proceeded to move and take all the entree plates without saying nothing. Took forever to redo the checks after a minor mistake. We didn't leave until well past 11. The older couple was still there after we left. Eating dessert. Lots of other micro aggressions and subtle discrimination. Like I get if it was a bad day but we saw her do a whole 360 to the older couple in front of us. 2. The seafood is mediocre. Almost every single dish comes with wild rice and buttered up bland veggies. Salmon and corn chowder was a thick sloop of can soup. It's not fancy if it comes with oyster crackers. Calamari was so small and badly fried. Bar Louie has bigger and better calamari than a place that's known for seafood. I got the Mahi Mahi, the crust was good but the sauce was not spread evenly on the top crust so there were good bits and the rest bland. For a seafood place to not offer Chilean Sea Bass, I mean you already know. 3. Lime Mojito was basically watered down lime juice. Red sangria just had a bunch of oranges in it and was the better tasting one out of the many that we got. White sangria watered down and again with the oranges. The cocktails were strong and I needed it to be honestly to get through this whole experience. 4. They served us bread and never gave us butter after having a small specific plates on the table with a butter knives for each person. Like how. 5. They even had the gall to ask us if we wanted to take the leftover bread home after they took all our dishes. No one got a box and the comment sounded condescending and out of place. read more

We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary and due to the closures, we got takeout. I am happy to report that it was absolutely delicious!! A very good seafood restaurant. It was fairly priced. I started with the soup sampler. Lobster bisque and corn chowder were good. I could pass on the Manhattan clam chowder. Caesar salad was large and pretty good not great. For the main corse I ordered the seafood Bouillabaise. It was nice to have the waitress crack the lobster. It was good but I have had better. My biggest complaint is that the swordfish was so small I wasnt sure what I was eating. It was too liquidy. I never saw the king crab. Would have liked more shrimp. We were disappointed in Leo's after reading all the reviews. This was our first meal while visiting Grand Rapids, MI. We started our meal with the oyster sampler which was good with the sauce. My husband got the lamb and I got the halibut for dinner. It was mediocre and our food was room temperature to cold when it arrived. My halibut was very dry and the smoked clams were so chewy that I could barely get it down. The lamb had no flavor. The environment was good for COVID-19 with spacing and temperature checks on arrival but our server brought our dessert out with another couples and stood at their table chatting as they breathed over the creme brûlée before bringing it to our table. The creme brûlée was one of the best and delicious so that made a positive ending to the night. Overall, the food was ok but not worth the price for what we received. read more

Leos provides a very elegant space to enjoy great seafood. My husband and I came here during our trip to Grand Rapids. We started with the Seafood Cake Duet. They were pretty tiny, but very delicious. I chose the Seafood Panroast as my entree, and I was very pleased. The fish was delicate, the shrimp and scallops were plentiful, and everything was perfectly cooked. The dish was topped with a large slice of roasted tomato, which had been encrusted with Parmesan and breadcrumbs. Yum! I thought the Cajun cream sauce could have used a touch more bite, but overall, it was very flavorful and rich. My husband ordered the Shrimp & Crab Risotto and loved it. I tasted it, and found it full of creamy goodness. For dessert, I chose the S'mores Torte. The chocolate mousse was lighter than I expected, and didn't pack as big of a chocolaty punch as I would have liked. The marshmallow sauce, on the side, was toasted, which added a nice touch. Overall, I liked the dessert, but probably wouldn't order it again. My husband ordered the Strawberry Semifreddo. It's not often that I prefer a fruit dessert over something chocolate, but I loved this! The texture was halfway between a mousse and ice cream, and the flavor was intensely strawberry. read more

This was a very pleasant visit. I really enjoyed 2018's Valentine date here. My husband kept this a secret. There is a parking lot, which i personally feel is outrageous fee, but people were parking in there. We managed to find a spot not even a block away. It was a cold night, and I was glad when I walked into Leo's it was a warm welcome and with a bit of class. Our reservation was set at 8:30pm and we were seated at a 4 top table for two. I love sitting at booths, but the chairs were comfortable and we were at ease. The waitress was named and she was delightful. She was attentive, energetic, and well versed in the foods that Leo's had on the menu. The perch and the walleye were sold out, not surprised given the time of night it was. We started with the two appetizers: Seafood Cake Duet $10. The two cakes were enough for a bite each, between the two of us. I do favor the lobster cake more. Then we followed it with a Lobster Bisque $8.00 for my husband and a Salmon & Corn Chowder $7 for me. I was able to taste the lobster Bisque was a very earthy and light tasting it had a piece of Lobster in the middle of the bowl. I think that it was complementary with the swordfish he ordered later for the entrée. My soup was honestly enough to sate my hunger; I really could have done without an entrée. This is why I looked my choice of soup, it was fresh, it was seasoned well, and it was hardy. I really enjoyed the Salmon, the pieces were humongous. There were pieces of potatoes and pancetta as well. I would recommend this soup to anyone, even if they are not a big corn chowder fan. The blend was spot on and there were also chunks of potatoes. So we then jumped into the entrees: My husband ordered the Swordfish, Atlantic $26 and I ordered the Filet Mignon $40 (cooked medium). We were definitely happy with our choices. I know some may ask, why did I go with a steak at a fish house... Our waitress had commented that Leo's had won three years in a row, for their steaks. I was in a mood to have red meat. So I ordered it. The steak came and it was like warm butter melting on my tongue. So I was not as full, I had the rest of the steak ready to go home. Last but not least we ordered the Treasure Chest. The Treasure Chest was AWESOME, it took me three days to eat it !!! I did order Leo's coffee it was descent, but I needed a buffer for all the sweetness I was going to endure. It is kinda hard to describe there were so many components to it. I remember chocolate Bavarian crème and also chocolate flourless cake was involved in a chocolate ganache tower sleeve. My siblings and I ordered takeout from Leo's last night to help my parents celebrate their golden wedding anniversary during this time of shelter-in-place. I was a little concerned that the quality would suffer, because takeout can be hard to pull off. However, my parents loved it! Here are direct quotes from my mom: "Absolutely delicious! Every. Single. Bite. Dad said the steak was done perfectly. My sea bass was delicious, a little crunchy on the outside, flaky on the inside. And quite possibly the most delicious cheesecake I've ever had. Thick and creamy. Absolutely scrumptious." She also mentioned that the portions were such that they actually had leftovers. My siblings and I are very pleased; we feel the quality and quantity of food was a great deal for the price! I look forward to the pandemic being over so I can eat at Leo's in person. This is one of my sister's favorite seafood restaurants and I've been wanting to try it. Great! -Sangria- I don't like the taste of alcohol and this was perfect so I ordered another! Light and refreshing! -Honey Mustard Salad- At first I thought it was overly dressed but it grew on me with each bite. Lots of spinach and each leaf perfectly dressed with a nice honey mustard dressing that isn't like honey mustard I'm used to but liked the flavor a lot. A few mandarin orange slices (could use a few more) and loved the candies nuts! I was expecting shaved red onions, but they were bigger slices so I just put those aside..would definitely order again! Good: -Chargrilled Scallops- Huge pieces wrapped in smoked salmon which was a unique spin away from bacon-wrapped. Due to the smoked salmon it was a little too salty for me but good. Came with mixed vegetables that were well cooked and had good flavor. Also came with spaetzle which was well cooked and a nice alternative to rice, but a little too much cheese on them for me. -Everything Tuna- My sister's favorite. She would even order it to-go when she used to live downtown, huge portion crusted with everything spices (like on an everything bagel). -Baked Brie- Had a nice crust and sweet sauce with berries/raisins What?! - Appetizers came with wilting toast. The rice was undercooked and the au gratin potatoes were barely warm and tasteless. My whitefish was caked with a breadcrumb coating which was overwhelming. I scraped most of it off.
