    Vanilla crème brûlée. Delicious!

For visit 2/5/2026. A colleague and I walked over from our hotel. We had reservations and we were immediately seated. Service was excellent! Our server checked in regularly and was very nice and helpful. I tried the chef's special, filet mignon and lobster tail. It was cooked to perfection. I wish I had remembered to grab a pic! I enjoyed some raw oysters to start and finished with the vanilla crème brûlée. Great service, great food, and a great atmosphere!

We celebrated my wife's Birthday at the Chop House in downtown GR. Really excellent food, waitstaff, and a classic warm atmosphere. Three of us had various cuts of steak - all thee reported that they steaks were tender, moist, and flavorful. The four person had twin South African Lobster tails and unfortunately reported that they were dry, tough, and not flavorful. Lobster is purchased from seafood markets and occasionally older, tougher ones slip through. No harm. The restaurant took the meal off the bill. Would we go there again? Absolutely!

We came here for the first time on a Wednesday night before going to a show at the Devos Center. The location is convenient downtown, although you will probably need to park in a garage nearby. The interior is an "old house" feel to me, but in a good way - dark wood, wine bottles on the wall, open ceilings, 2 stories, but not too "outdated" either. I was told they are known for their martinis and old fashioned's - I got an espresso martini. We shared the 36oz porterhouse steak and the "Fresh de Mer" seafood entree with the brussels sprouts as a side. The seafood dish was a little smaller in portion than expected, but it was OK since we ordered the larger steak. The steak was cooked perfectly medium, which was recommended over medium rare since it's a large on-the-bone steak. Honestly, the brussels sprouts were too "mustardy" for me with the sauce, but cooked perfectly and the bacon bits were so good and the largest bacon bits I've seen. It also comes with free, house-made brazilian cheese bread which is my favorite and was SO good. I could've eaten 3 more if I wanted to. The service was wonderful and attentive, and made for a great date night. I definitely see us coming back here!

Affogato and tres leches carrot cake

We were able to get a reservation the same day on a weekend, which was surprising. It was decently busy inside so I would still recommend making one. Service was good but felt a little bit pushy. We started with oysters, which tasted great but I do feel that serving them in a dish with 80% melted ice is a bit below this kind of restaurant. For an entree, I tried the beef Wellington, cooked medium rare. It was cooked perfectly and the taste was great. I did get slightly turned off by the duck liver pate. I definitely prefer a Wellington with a veggie like mushrooms. The side of macaroni and cheese was great. It was served in a cast iron pan. It was perfectly creamy and cheesy but the crispy bread crumb provided it with the perfect combination. For dessert, I shared an affogato and tres leches carrot cake with my husband. The affogato was absolutely delicious- espresso was smooth, ice cream a good vanilla flavor and some crunchy toppings. The tres leches cake was so good my husband asked for it as a birthday cake - so I guess that is a high rating! Overall I felt like the food was fine, but I don't plan on returning. It just did not live up to a classic steak house.

1/2 dozen oysters I have to order 3 times they were so good.

Celebrated my daughters PhD graduation and it did not disappoint. They oysters and condiments were spectacular. The drinks were nice and refreshing. The ambiance is good for a celebration or intimate dinner. The service was beyond amazing. It may be a lil pricy but you can share sides which allows for variety. All in all it was an amazing experience

Upscale steakhouse in downtown Grand Rapids. Very elegant vibe with staff doing a nice job with service. House Old Fashioned was just ok Food was excellent. Chop salad, Filet cooked perfect. Sides were big enough for 4 ppl and there were only 2 of us so we were too full for dessert but they looked amazing as they went by the table. No prices on the menu however which was very annoying. They did excellent with GF and the bread is GF and amazing

    Béarnaise was really good!

Overall a good experience. Steak was tender and cooked properly as ordered. They did have a rather heavy hand on the salt. A bit much for my taste but not enough to send it back. Au Gratin Potatoes were okay but I have had way better at another popular GR Gin joint. Lobster bisque was really good but with just a little lobster to go with it. Service was prompt and professional. I think it is worth a visit again to try another steak.

This place is always amazing and always on my list to visit when I get a chance to come out to Grand Rapids. Enjoy their steaks and the African style lobster. The salad with goat cheese was so good too.

I brought my wife here for her 33rd birthday as a surprise. We were completely in love from start to finish. Our waiter Nick was excellent. We started with the sea scallops which were cooked to perfection in a delicious sauce. Every dish we ordered was 100% perfection. The ambience here is dark with dim lighting - just how we like it. The cherry on top: rose pedals and a candle for my wife's birthday. Ps - can we talk about the cheesy bread?!?

My boyfriend and I stumbled in during happy hour and were happy to grab some cheap drinks, but the main event was the burger! We typically like sitting at the bar as well and chat with the bartender who was absolutely lovely! The dirty martini was okay but I will definitely order something else next time as the olives just didn't hit for me. When we walked in the restaurant was bustling and packed, but we got seated right away by the door which was cool because we could people watch. Our server greeted us immediately and filled our glasses with water. She was nice and answered all of our questions. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with my brunch choices which were the soup of the day, a lentil curry, pumpkin seed combo with tons of good seasoning and cilantro on top...it was soooo good and vegan friendly! For my entree I got the tofu sandwich with the most amazing side salad that had this lemon dressing that set it off right! I could have just had a plate of the salad! Although the tofu sandwich was good, it was a bit on the salty side for my taste, but I still enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this place for vegan options and I'd come back. Just be aware they don't take reservations for brunch and it's pretty loud, but it's a really cute establishment and I was pleased with the food and service. Give it a try!!!

So when my family and I were walking around downtown Grand Rapids and needed a place to eat breakfast, we popped into Social Misfits because their menu is basically 90% waffles. My kids love waffles. Every kid loves waffles. Waffles it is! This is a great restaurant for families (because ... waffles), but also a great restaurant for adults because they have a nice selection of creative cocktails in the evening, and coffee in the morning. Social Misfits is basically waffles, alcohol and caffeine, in that order. When we visited in the morning, the adults opted for coffee (really great black coffee!) and the kids both opted for the Little Lad, a waffle topped with strawberries, blueberries and chantilly cream (basically whipped cream, but a little sweeter and whipped a little longer). Both of my children ate most of their waffle, which is a big thing, considering they usually eat like birds. We also got the Son of a Biscuit, which was a garlic parmesan waffle topped with chicken sausage gravy and a fried egg. You could add fried chicken to the mix for an extra $6 (we did not). This one was fine, but the egg was way overcooked! Oh well. Lastly: We got the Ol' Blue Eyes, a waffle topped with blueberry compote, lemon curd, whipped ricotta and graham cracker crumbs. This one tasted amazing, but there was so much blueberry compote and lemon curd that it made the waffle a bit soggy. I think the chef was feeling generous with the toppings, but homie needed to hold back a tad. Sometimes, a little bit goes a long way! Fifty percent less gloppy stuff would have made this waffle dish 100% better. If you ain't really about that waffle life, then not to worry. Social Misfits also has a few "not waffles" items on the menu, like salads, sandwiches and a couple of bar snacks. But I think if you visit this restaurant, you need to just embrace waffles. There are more than a dozen different waffles on the menu. They're all fun and well-thought-out. Pick one and eat waffles for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
