    Empanadas

The Latin House has been on my list of places to try for years. Nate surprised me the other day and took me there for lunch! The space is tiny, it seats maybe 12 people. Luckily we got a table and our server was really friendly. The menu is made up of Peruvian and Colombian specialties. I'm not super familiar with these foods so we ordered the bandeja paisa which seemed to be a sampler platter of sorts, and an order of empanadas. The food came out and looked delicious! I loved the empanadas - they were smaller than I was expecting but super fresh and tasty, with a nice texture (crispy outside, soft inside). I really liked the sauces that they came with. The bandeja paisa was very interesting. It was a plate with steak, chorizo, crackling, plantain, rice and beans, avocado, and egg. The steak was probably my favorite part - it was a very thin cut of meat but well seasoned and tasty. The beans were also delicious. Nate really liked the chorizo but I thought it was a little dry, and the crackling was very crispy but a bit tough. Overall I'm glad we tried this spot and would like to have more of their Peruvian dishes next time.

This place is fantastic! The 4 things we had all exceeded expectations! The gentleman who served us (possibly the owner) was class and informative. One star off of 5 due to a slight lack of seating inside. Looks like there is room for a few more tables and chairs. 100% chance we'll return.

Arroz con pollo with fries and plantains

The Latin House deserves every single star and more! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was amazing yet intimate. We started with the Chorizo Papas appetizer, crispy, golden potatoes loaded with smoky, savory chorizo was delicious. They gave us two sauces both of which were incredible. Next came the Arepas and this platter was insanely good. Each arepa was perfectly grilled with that beautiful balance of crispy outside and soft, fluffy inside. The variety of fillings made it fun, and the cheese pull was crazy. It was so fresh and melty. We also got the Arroz con Pollo. Comfort food, elevated. The rice was tender, rich with flavor, and the boneless chicken was perfect. Service was just as memorable: friendly, attentive, and you could tell they genuinely love what they do. It felt less like dining at a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home. If you're looking for food that feeds both your stomach and your soul, go to the latin house. This place is so underrated and an absolute gem, and I can't wait to come back and explore the rest of the menu!

The Latin House has long been on our list of "to visit" places, and we finally stopped in for Ken's birthday. To say we should have stopped in way sooner is an understatement. The food is incredibly delicious and authentic with Argentina, Columbian, and Peruvian cuisine. Ken had the Churrasco (grilled steak with chimichurri sauce) with yuca and fries, while I had the Arepas Colombians (Colombian cornbread stuffed with cheese and chicken). Both were incredible, and very filling. The Latin House is small but intimate and nicely decorated - they have recently renovated. Their outdoor area is cute, the flowers around the sign so pretty. No alcohol served, but their fresh juice looked amazing. And it's only a short walk over to Lost Art Brewhouse if you need a drink. Their parking lot is small, but the inside isn't large so it's perfect.

The food here was insane. Never thought I'd fall in love with the cooking at a lil navy house on the side of Walker, MI. Its adorable inside, the service was amazing and so quick, and food was FANTASTIC!! It reminded me of an upscale soda in costa rica. I can't wait for the next time I visit Grand Rapids- would drive an hour just to eat here

The restaurant wasn't busy, but they should have been. I ordered black tea (hot) and Bistek. The tea was served loose leaf, and just the right temp. The Bistek was served with chimichurri and a "house sauce". It arrived in a flavorful red broth, smothered in onions and tomatoes, with a side of rice, an over medium fried egg, and savory smashed and fried plantains. The portions were appropriate, not too big, not too small. It's a small restaurant with only 10 2-tops, and it's similar to one you would find in Cusco or Lima. Beautiful Latin music was streaming low enough time have a conversation. Decor was rustic industrial, if that is a thing. Wood design floors, plank bar, geometric design black wall complemented with a beautiful pink trailing flowery tree. It's nice, and I could close my eyes and imagine I was somewhere in Peru or Ecuador.

This place is a little hard to find since there's no sign, and the one that's there looks like it was for a tanning place, but I'm glad we found it! It's a small restaurant with a parking lot, next to Lost Art Brewhouse. The server was smiling and very friendly. I ordered the Churrasco and my partner had the Lomo saltado. The steak was juicy, with one of my pieces medium rare and the other a little more on the rare side. I wish I had a little more sauce, but they also provided some other sauces on the side. The potatoes were seared perfectly and the cassava was similarly tasty. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

The ambiance was perfect and the food was fantastic! We got the empanadas for the appetizer and both steak meals were delicious! We also got some homemade bread to take home. The staff was so friendly too!

What a gem! This restaurant's sign is tucked away, so finding it may be tricky, but we had a beautiful dinner. The outdoor is painted blue. The interior has a nice, cozy, somewhat elevated ambiance, but you can still dress casually. The service was excellent! Impeccable hospitality. We ordered the empanadas, bandeja paisa, lomo saltado, and chicken arepas to share. The empanadas are tiny, which is a perfect size for appetizers. I'm not sure how they make the empanadas, but it's not like regular wheat or pastry dough. Is it made of masa dough? It's SO crispy but not greasy. The fillings were delicious, and the ratio was perfect. The bandeja paisa was huge! It has rice, egg, small arepa, crispy pork crackling, beans, steak, and plantains. I can't imagine finishing this meal alone, but all the components were delicious. The meat was very well cooked and generously seasoned. The lomo saltado is uber fragrant. The flavor is savory and slightly tangy. The beef is tender, but of note, the tomato tastes incredible as it soaks up all the sauces. The arepas are crispy and very generously stuffed. The flavors were perfect. Seriously, every item we ordered was a hit. We were so happy with all the meals. For the quality, it's reasonably priced as well. Highly recommended!

This spot is a hidden gem!! If you love South American cuisine im telling you, this is the spot!! Even if you haven't tried South American cuisine, YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON THIS SPOT! Service: 10/10 - the waiter was incredibly sweet, cordial, polite and on top of things. Food Quality/Flavor: 10/10 - I've eaten South American food in San Francisco but this spot beats the spots I went to out there. Super flavorful, fresh and absolutely authentic! Cleanliness: 10/10 - we walked in and all the tables were wiped up and clean, didn't see a spec of dirt. Couldn't see into the kitchen but the front of house looked very tidy and clean. Price: 9/10 - it's a bit pricey but honestly, waay worth it. You can tell the chefs put big effort into quality, taste and presentation of the dishes. I think this spot deserves to be in a bigger location and down town. Much better than some of the "fancier" restaurants I've been to that are this price or higher. Wait Time: 9/10 - this would be rated higher, but we did wait about 25-30 for our food. However in their defense, we got there as they opened for dinner and they have a small kitchen and spot in general. I also didn't mind as I knew home cooking like this shouldn't be super quick. I believe it was only (2-3) people working in total. 1 waiter and maybe two cooks. The place is quite small and for 1 waiter he had (3) tables (2 top, 5 top, and a 6-7 top) plus a takeout order. So honestly i wasn't too mad, it was absolutely worth the wait. Location/Ambiance: 8/10 - It is located a bit off the beaten path and unfortunately we almost missed it as there are no signs, and kind of looks like a empty small building. Luckily my husband was determined and went to the door to confirm they were open. I think if they included a sign, it wouldn't be overlooked when driving. We found this spot on yelp and hope this location continues to stay open as we are gonna be new regulars! The ambiance was nice. Nothing fancy but the music they were playing was Latin and we were definitely vibing. Not much decor, but the food and hospitality honestly makes it all worth it. It's a great chill spot for a date night and what I like to call a hidden gem! This does seem like a small family run business, so some of my scores would be rated higher if they had the infrastructure and the marketing more established. All in all this spot deserves all the recognition and I'm surprised they don't have a line out their door. Please give this a try! What I ordered: coffee, chaufa, arepas (steak), plátano maduro. Everything was exceptional. Not 1 bad thing we ordered, and our plates were wiped clean.

We have been on the lookout for good Latin American food, and here we are! Trying to FIND the place was mildly difficult only because their sign is tucked away to the side of the building. I tried to find a picture of the outside somewhere, but no luck. So here is a picture for you all! Inside is very cozy and intimate and well maintained. The service was honestly amazing. Carlos was our server, and he couldn't have been more accommodating. We read so much about their fresh juice, so we ordered the mango to share. Fresh and creamy and delicious! We ordered two appetizers: papas rellena and arepa de queso. The papas reminded us both of Portos potato balls my family sends us for the holidays. So good! The arepa was cheesy and yummy as well. They serve it with a very spicy salsa that has a wonderful flavor to it. Husband had their churrasco, flank steak with chimichurri accompanied by fried yucca and potatoes. Great char on the steak and super delicious. Both yucca and potatoes were perfectly fried and crunchy. I ordered their lomo salteado. Peruvian dish with steak, red onions, tomatoes, and potatoes. Served with rice and a savory sauce. By the time the entrees came, I was almost full. But we will have some food for tomorrow. Their portions are extremely generous! Dessert was out of the question, but next time, I hope to try some of their homemade specialties. Both my husband and I were surprised that they weren't busier, but it was rainy out and closer to the end of the evening. It's definitely a must-try for folks seeking a new and fun dining experience!

Worth the small trek to Walker from grand rapids. Tucked in a residential neighborhood. Don't come here for the atmosphere or frills just come for the delicious food. No alcohol served. My lomo was so tender and flavorful. The mango juice is not really a juice but more of a smoothie. Try it!

Luckily for us, we were able to get a table right away. Don't sleep on this place! We got a delicious and filling meal for about $30! The menu has changed a bit since they first opened in 2023 with more options for entrees. We ordered the yuca, chorizo, and beef and potato empanadas to share. I'd love to come back to try the steak and other options. Our food came out quickly and everything was super hot and fresh. Their yuca is the best I've ever had - super crispy on the outside and perfectly salted, and not dry inside. I do recommend eating the yuca before it gets too cold, it's best when it's freshly fried! I loved the empanadas with the tender shredded beef and soft potatoes inside. The included hot sauce gave them the perfect kick. The chorizo was a great side to add some more protein, and it was flavorful and not too dry. I think it came with an arepa on the side, which was surprisingly delicious! The vibe inside is cute and has a cafe feel, and I can't wait to come back to try more of their menu. I did ask if the salchipapas were still on the menu because I didn't notice it listed, and was assured they still make this dish! That was my favorite last time, so I'm looking forward to getting that one again too. We're lucky to have this special spot right downtown, so hopefully more people will check it out.

We had a basket of empanadas (pollo y arroz & pollo y papas) and couldn't decide which was tastier!
