This place is the definition of authentic and delicious. We stopped by to grab some empanadas to take home and it was the perfect easy dinner. We ordered 2 cheese, 2 chicken, and 2 beef. They are pretty big but we wanted extras to heat up the next day. We thought they were all delicious with beef being my favorite and chicken being my wife's favorite. We heated a couple more up the next day for lunch and they were just as great. Definitely recommend stopping by!

Sabor Latino ⁣ ⁣ This place is one of the greatest hole in the walls in GR. ‼⁣ ⁣ When we say "hidden gem" we seriously mean this place is a HIDDEN GEM! ⁣ ⁣ Sabor Latino is an authentic Dominican and Cuban restaurant in the Roosevelt Park neighborhood. ⁣ ⁣ It is small, to-go style restaurant with quick service, amazing prices and portion sizes! The owner jokes that she already knows what we want before we walk in. ⁣ ⁣ Here's what we suggest ordering!⁣ * Beef or Chicken Empanadas. {Empanadas de Res, Empanadas de Pollo} Soooo good & juicy. (I know we've all probably had a dry empanada before, but these are far from it!)⁣ * Yellow Rice. Soooo flavorful!⁣ * White Rice with Beans: Some of the best rice I've ever tasted. ⁣ * Stewed Chicken {Regular Pollo Gulsado}⁣ ⁣ Best news ever: Sabor Latino caters as well! ⁣ ⁣ This is the only place that reminds me of the empanadas I had when I was in Puerto Rico! These may even be better! ⁣ ⁣

Beef empanada, chicken empanada, potato ball. $3.19 for all

This review is only for the empanadas and potato balls, since that's all I got to go today. Don't worry, I'll review the other food after I get it! I just moved into a new office building so I've been looking for places to grab a quick lunch in the area. I noticed Sabor Latino, a little building on Grandville when I was driving back from Tacos el Cunado the other day. Google told me they have empanadas for $1.25 each so I knew I would be trying it soon! There was only one other person in the shop when I stopped by. I picked up two empanadas (one chicken, one beef) and one potato ball (mashed potato stuffed with ground beef and deep fried.) The total? $3.19 or something. I split the food with my boyfriend for a small lunch and it was the perfect amount of food! You can't beat $1.50ish per person for lunch! They do have other more substantial meat dishes and fried plantains. I definitely want to check that out next time. The empanadas were warm and the chicken was delicious! The beef was a bit dry, but with a little hot sauce they were fine. The potato ball was pretty tasty! I would absolutely go back just for more empanadas. I wish they had more varieties, but I'm not complaining! They do have very limited seating (maybe one table and two chairs) inside, so it's mostly takeout. They accept credit cards too!

This was my first visit to this restaurant and I had the chicken with yellow rice, potato balls, and empanadas. It was delicious! My daughter had the steak with yellow rice and plantains and that was delicious as well. I do recommended this restaurant. The wait time for the food was only 10 minuets and the service was great. I will be returning to have more soon too.

Affordable, delicious, and quick. The empanadas were very savory and the maduros were sweet and caramelized. I,'ll be back for sure.

My favorite is the pollo horneado with beef or chicken empanadas and can't forget about the green sauce!

Store was open on 2nd try. First impression: Empty. Lights are off. Dark inside. One friendly man running the show. Smells delicious. Greeted promptly. Store quiet, except for quiet talking among clientele. There were other customers already ordering. I ordered jerk chicken and curry chicken. $16 each meal. Chef disappeared into the dark kitchen. Order took about 10 minutes. Jamaican trinkets were on sale in a glass case. Bob Marley earrings, etc. Huge airbrush mural on the wall was nice. *Some quiet reggae music would have added to the ambiance. I took my food home and split the 2 orders 3 ways with my 2 teenagers. The CHICKEN was very tender, almost too tender. Nice flavor. Dryer than I expected. Jerk flavor was preferred, but curry was also good. (Better cold) COLE SLAW was great with a fresh citrus taste. The RICE was thick and pasty like oatmeal, and had some fruits in it. It took up half the tray, and most of it landed in the trash. Even The donut or CARNIVAL, is interesting, as were the plantains. We are not familiar with Jamaican cuisine, so can't judge it for authenticity. The flavor was a nice experience, but not really our thing. Good luck. Nice guy! I'm probably just too Caucasian for this place. ;-)
