Wow!! I wish we found Iker's sooner!! We had no idea this was a location change. It's a cute little place with just a few tables. A lot of people in and out for take out. I am so excited to go back. Staff were so incredibly kind even while being busy on cinco de mayo. The stress of the rush did not show at all! The rice and beans were sooo flavorful. I usually don't eat any of the Mexican rice because a lot of restaurants make it dry and not flavorful but I can say my husband was upset I did not let him have mine this time. All of the taco meats were so juicy and flavorful. Truly you cannot go wrong. I didn't try the burrito but my husband loved it. We decided this is our new favorite GR restaurant. Take away: EAT HERE.

Iker's tacos absolutely ROCKS. The staff is so friendly and attentive, and the food doesn't leave anything to be desired either. Any great taco joint isn't complete without it's salsas, and MAN does Iker's deliver. Their green salsa is tangy and acidic and aromatic, and their red salsa is smoky and deep and has a solid kick to it. Both are incredible additions to their rich and flavorful meats that they pile onto your plate. Prices were reasonable and it's clear that this place is blowing up. I went on a Saturday evening and was greeted with at 45 minute wait, but the guy behind the counter was eager to express his apologies and thanked me for stopping by. I'm glad to see this place getting the recognition it deserves, as Creston needed a staple taco joint, and Iker's Tacos responded to the call in STRIDE.

Chicken Enchiladas (minus a couple bites). I asked for double rice instead of beans.

Stopped in here for lunch and was greeted by the friendly, welcoming staff. Throughout the entire lunch, the staff was very attentive, stopping by the table multiple times to make sure we had everything we need. The inside of the restaurant is pretty simple, but it is comfortable and bright. It's perfect for a low key, local Mexican restaurant. Although it's called "Iker's Tacos," they have almost all menu items a normal Mexican restaurant would have (tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, etc). The food was delicious and the prices are reasonable for the serving size. It's about $14 for the enchilada plate and $18 or so for fajitas. This place is definitely worth checking out and I will definitely be back soon.

La Huasteca is back! It's now named Iker's Tacos, in honor of the owner's son who sadly passed away last year. This beloved Creston neighborhood staple had to move from their former location on Plainfield but this Coit spot is even better, with a nicer layout for dining in, and plenty of onsite parking! Nate and I stopped by for lunch and had to try way too much food - we ordered a wet burrito, several tacos, and a quesadilla. The menu was just hand written on a white board (they said they were working on getting new menus), but we knew we'd love anything made there. The employee taking our order was super friendly and polite and so thankful that we loved the food! Everything was hot and fresh when it hit our table and it was some of the best Mexican food I've had in the area. The burrito was massive and stuffed with so much goodness (including avocado, amazing). The tacos were all perfection, with tender corn tortillas and super savory meats. I loved the chorizo the best, but they were all good. Then the barbacoa quesadilla was incredible - the meat was so juicy and flavorful. Everything was so good! I was stuffed afterwards and we took home leftovers of the burrito. I think I paid $40 after tip for a ton of food for the two of us. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Iker's Tacos!

Quesabirria! Beef goodness with consommé. The friendliest staff makes it very enjoyable dining. It's a cozy little restaurant in a residential neighborhood with ample parking. The platter was a reasonable $16.99. As a family run establishment I plan to be a regular here.

    Enchiladas!!!!

Switched it up today for the enchiladas! So good. Highly recommended that you try them

Steak tostada (sorry, but the chicken tostado was inhaled before I could take a pic).

Top notch! Ate here today for the first time. While ordering, my partner asked about the amount of food on a two tostada dish and the server said, "it's a lot, but I can help you eat it." I ordered the mole enchiladas and was cautioned about the heat. After nearly cleaning my plate, the server said, "Whoa, the mole hardly did anything to you! Good job." We started with chips and salsa which were clearly freshly made and totally awesome. We will be back.

Authentic to the core. This is the place where the people that grew up in the Hispanic community go. Everything is delicious.

The cinnamon rolls are the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had. We got it without the bacon. It was flaky and warm and just so delicious. For my entree I got the breakfast sandwich with vegan sausage and no egg and side of potatoes. It was also very good. The biscuit is very soft and buttery. All the entrees were huge portions and enough for some leftovers. I will definitely go back even just for the cinnamon roll and the service! We had a small group and had no issue getting a table on a Saturday.

The food is still terrific. The atmosphere of the new place is dramatically different, but that's clean, being newer construction, polished and bright, unlike the old place, which was ragged around the edges and bohemian. The new place feels more like a restaurant you go to for a meal, pay, then leave, whereas the old one was a place you could bring a book and hang out at. All of that doesn't really matter because the important detail is that Rick, the original owner, gave the new owners the recipes, so the food is just as good. It wasn't easy for him to pass them along, but in the end, he did. If I'm remembering correctly, it seemed like today's Gaia has a couple of new dishes, like the Gaia Tempeh Reuben, plus their specials. But I could be wrong about that one. I love tempeh and had it at the old Gaia, but not in Reuben form. It's not a favorite. However, two of my favorite dishes are still the Mean Green Burrito and Veggie Stash. Rick used to offer a macrobiotic plate, but sadly, he got rid of that while I was still living there. I don't recall why. Maybe it wasn't popular enough. The new Gaia should try offering it again. See how people react to it now. Gaia still offers endless buckets of coffee. I love their fresh juices, like their Green Goddess (my favorite), Funky Monkey (I'll eat almost anything with bananas and chocolate mixed together), and mango pineapple. You can't go wrong with the pressed juices, especially their Hot Shot, a mix of lemon, ginger, wheatgrass, and cayenne pepper. Wooo! That'll start your day off right. I just love the intense bite from the lemon, ginger, and cayenne. I know the Jalapen-Yo-Business is probably much spicier, but it's most likely way too hot for me. However nostalgic I am for the old Gaia Cafe, the new Gaia House Cafe is an absolute winner and deserves your attention. Go for it and check them out. You might want to be a fixture there.

I love going to Gaia when I feel like something healthy, so after a week of holiday indulgences I placed an online order for pick up. Online ordering was easy and I could log in to my Toast account which made paying a breeze. My order was ready at the time they said it would be. I got one of my standby dishes, the veggie stash: assorted steamed veggies, garlic, ginger, tamari, redskin potatoes or brown rice or both, topped with Michigan monterey jack cheese, scallions, and sour cream. I always get it with half brown rice and half potatoes, which is the perfect combination in my opinion. I also got the miso Caesar salad: mixed greens, tomato, Kalamata olives, parmesan cheese, toasted local bread points, miso caesar dressing. This was my first time trying this salad. Everything was packed nicely and looked delicious. Nate and I split everything and loved this meal. The veggie stash was tasty as usual, and we added a bit of hot sauce at home to round it out. I love that the veggies are all perfectly cooked and not mushy. I think I've tasted more ginger in this dish in the past, but it was still good. The salad was our favorite dish! The dressing was savory and creamy, and the toppings all worked well together. It was also a huge portion, but I was really hungry. I would definitely get this salad again, probably to split. Gaia also serves breakfast items, fresh squeezed juices and smoothies, and their famous Gaia cookies which are delicious. I love this little cafe!
