Caldo de Res with a side of rice and tortillas
    Consuelo R.

Caldos El Giro If you are looking for some great tacos and great Mexican soups this is your place. The location is small so seating and parking can be a challenge but worth the wait. They also offer to go as well. Things to note: you have to order at the counter before sitting. They will assign a seat to you. If you pay cash it's a lesser charge vs paying with a card. Prices are pretty typical compared to similar restaurants. They bring the food out to you but if you need anything else you go up to the counter. They have a table with to-go containers where you can help yourself which makes it really convenient. They play great music. Staff seems friendly but doesn't interact too much but I am sure it's because they are always so busy and always packing up to go orders too! The corn tortillas used for the tacos are much bigger than your traditional tortilla. They use the store bought ones for the soup orders just FYI. We ordered the asada tacos, gordita de papa con chile (potato with hot sauce) and a caldo de res (beef stew). We also added on chips and salsa because you don't get those complementary. Chips are good but the salsa reminded me of tostitos salsa. The asada tacos I personally think are the best but they offer a good variety of protein options. The avocado green salsa is a must! The gordita was not what I expected and will never order again. It had a very mushy texture and no flavor. They seem to have been pre-made with the toppings folded in versus stuffed in after cooking the gordita. Not to worry, the tacos and caldo made up for it! The caldo de res is always great. They loaded it with meat and lots of veggies. I have never had issues with their caldo or even their other soups like Menudo or Seafood soups! They provide tortillas, a side of rice, limes and a chili oil. The chili oil really gives it a kick so I recommend adding a little at a time.

    Chicken flautas

This place has become my regular spot for when I'm craving Mexican food. It doesn't matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. This past visit I ordered the chicken flautas and my daughter ordered the potato flautas. Each order comes with 4 flautas made with homemade corn tortillas stuffed with loads of chicken or potato ( potato has a very good cheesy flavor). They top them with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sour cream and cheese. I added a bunch of the red and green salsa to mine. I'll be honest, I was not hungry when we got there. I've attached the photo of what was left, that's how delicious they were, I ate 3! I couldn't stop eating!

Has the best tacos around. Me and my boyfriend frequently drive the 30 min there from Holland. It's our favorite spot.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurant in Grand Rapids. My kids love the tacos campaneros. All dishes I have had here are always delicious.

This place is huge and beautiful. There is a gorgeous patio area and bar stools outside lining the indoor bar with garage doors that were open. I love an open air bar in the summer. It makes it feel so.... Summery. Our bartender was wonderful! Super helpful and accommodating. We spilt the lobster rolls because there were two of them and I never eat all of my food anyway. They split them up and gave us two plates with separate fries etc. The presentation was great. The food was delicious! I was working while we were there and needed to get on a few meetings so we ended up hanging out for about two hours. They were so good to us. Most definitely will be back!

Conversation with the staff comes so easily. And the food and drink are always delicious. Over the course of the night, we enjoyed the Seafood Cake Duet as our appetizer. Between the two cakes, the shrimp and lobster was definitely our favorite. The cocktails included the 60 Ottawa Old Fashioned, the Femme Fatale and the Cast Away. The old-fashioned was perfectly balanced. My wife loved the other two cocktails, especially the Cast Away. That one in particular was dangerously smooth. It wasn't my first time having the Halibut "oscar style", but I'm a creature of habit and it's hard to pass up. It always tastes fresh, is a milder fish and paired well on the plate with a nicely seasoned rice blend, asparagus and covered in a delightful bearnaise sauce. The wife had the Kvaroy Salmon which she very much enjoyed, but didn't come close to finishing. The brussel sprouts were cooked just right and the balsamic reduction wasn't overpowering, but instead just that right amount of savory. Leo's seems to change up their desserts fairly often, but frequently offer a crème brûlée. We opted for the vanilla bean this time and in hindsight, wish we would've each ordered our own instead of sharing.

At first I had some sticker shock on a food truck, but my husband had his heart set on lobster so we went for it. I had the garlic lobster roll, clam chowder, and some tater tots. I'd normally never rank a take-out situation, but this meal was delicious and I have to tell you....TRY IT! The garlic lobster roll was worth every penny. Tots were 'eh' but tater tots are something better when they are crispy hot and fresh. By the time we got home to eat, the tots were sticking to the paper and were just luke warm. We still ate them and they were good. Soup I warmed up because the trip home did the temperature no favors through no fault of Cousins, but only because Michigan winters are basically an ice box. Thanks for the delish food, Cousins! I would order again!

I ordered a Connecticut style lobster roll ($24) and the lobster tots ($20). There were some pretty big claws in the lobster roll, but the roll itself was still pretty small. I think it needed a little more butter too. But the lobster meat was good pretty well. The lobster tots were OK - definitely overpriced by about $3-5. The shreds of lobster were very small; I may have preferred if it was a lobster truffle/cheese type of flavor instead, but that's just me. I was really glad I got to try this food truck though, and it still hit the spot for a lobster roll. The service was efficient and quick, too!
