Came here for date night with my fiancé. We were excited to try a new sushi place as it had a nice ambiance. We had a really sweet waitress and I informed her 3 times of my severe mushroom/truffle allergy. She noted it and I specifically ordered items that were not meant to have the allergens. However, she had miscommunication with the kitchen (her words) and they placed mushrooms in my dish that wasn't supposed to come with it. I took a bite and almost immediately went into an anaphylaxis shock. She was very remorseful and told us to forget about the check and just leave to the hospital. In a panic, my fiancé gave her cash to cover the bill and we rushed to the emergency room. I was admitted and stayed overnight. We tried getting a hold of the manager, Frank for 2 weeks to go over what happened. Every time we called, he never got back to us. After 2 weeks he reached out and spoke with my fiancé. We informed him that we want to be reimbursed for the dinner that sent us to the hospital (almost $200) and $50 for the hospital visit. Frank sent over a $100 gift card ($50 for the "inconvenience" and $50 for the hospital.) He stated that since "we enjoyed the food" we're taking advantage of the situation and being unreasonable. What makes you think I want a gift card to your establishment after you don't take deadly allergies seriously? He sent us some disgusting text messages all over $250 he could have reimbursed. If you have any type of allergy, avoid this establishment as they are very careless and not apologetic if they almost kill you. Also avoid Frank, he's rude and insanely unprofessional. read more

I showed up for a dinner with a friend at 6, an hour after they open, and there was no one there except a couple at the bar. Food was just okay, but way too overpriced for the tiny baby oysters we got, and too weird to walk in to a place thinking it was closed bc it was so empty, and then not having another table arrive for at LEAST 45 mins. We were sat immediately in a comfy open air booth. Our waitress was soooo nice. She let us know a bit about the biz and the three different rooms they have. One was a sushi more restaurant type room, another was more loungy (music was playing and people were dancing), and we ended up in the "bar" room. The whole space is really gorgeous and trendy. I got a glass of the Napa Cabernet, highly recommend. Everyone there was just having a great time, including us! We ubered because parking in this area can be kinda hard to find. I went here when they opened and had a great time - surprising value for quality! After establishing, I returned and they completely changed to unfairly exploiting and stealing from their customers. They list sushi as 2 pieces for a set price. When the bill comes, it turns out they charge you that price for each sushi, not both. So even though the menu says 2 pieces for a set amount, you're going to be billed double. No sushi place does that. It's a blatant scam. The ambience and food presentation were nice, which I would also expect that from any upscale establishment. The Seared Salmon Roll was decent (tldr: buttery with a great balance of acidity from the toppings and ponzu sauce, but wasn't necessary "knock your socks off" equivalent). Lamb Robata and Tsukune Meat Balls were okay. We wanted to give a special shout out to the food runner working Sunday night! He was so attentive with our water refills, clearing our plates and sweetly checked up on us towards the end of our meal :) Unfortunately missed our chance to say thanks at the end so hope he receives this message! We mainly came to try the Nippon Chafu Paella but found it very underwhelming. The seafood and forbidden rice were cooked fine but the overall flavor was just wayyyy too salty. Didn't taste the aioli that may have helped with that. I would stick to the sushi and maybe robata stuff if you're set on coming here (pick a different spot while you can) The worst part of the experience was definitely our server. She had brunette hair and a lot of piercings working Sunday (7/28) if that helps identify who she is because someone really needs to pull her aside. Didn't get her name since she couldn't even bother to introduce herself. The only interactions we had was her asking, as soon as we got sat, "are you guys ready to order?" x2 and after she processed our payment, then saying "thanks!" I must've sat there for a good 10 minutes before asking the hostess, who my waiter, or waitress was because I wanted to order a drink while I waited for the other person in my party to arrive. I watched Jerred and a girl he was training have a conversation for a good 5 min before the girl (who mentioned being in training) took my drink and appetizer order. The bartender brought my drink to the table a few minutes later as my friend arrived. All in all, they were not super busy and looked staffed appropriately, just not sure why the lack in service. We walked in at 6:45, and left at 8:58 pm. The big bummer was that we were there celebrating a birthday, and that was completely overlooked and not even acknowledged, even though I mentioned it in my Open table reservation. How in the WORLD does this place have a Michelin star?? We were giving that information by our server at the end of the night as an explanation of why everything was bad. What? How? This an insult to what Michelin stars should be. Maybe if the food was phenomenal I could overlook everything else. But it wasn't. Honestly the sushi at kabuki happy hour is better. So terrible food, terrible service and an obvious lack of management made this one of the worst nights out of my life. First off we had a reservation and didn't get sat til 50+ minutes after because they were "running behind". This does not happen at a Michelin star restaurant. Then we got some of the worst free poured (no jigger or pour spout) cocktails I've ever had. So bad that I had to send back my first cocktail in 20 years. We were informed "they ran out of an ingredient" - so the bartender decided to make and charge me for a drink that they knew was not right? Again - how is this Michelin? On our nearly hour wait (with a reservation) we noticed a laptop occupying a high top table that was plugged in a 2001 middle schools dance floor speaker. Didn't know a laptop was more important than guests? Then, who's ever laptop this was for a FaceTime call. So the speaker took a break from playing the Cupid shuffle and did the all too anxiety inducing FaceTime ringtone for a solid 15 second. Perfect. Exactly how I expect a Michelin dining experience to carry out. Job well down. Overall I 100000% blame this absolute failure on a lack of systems and management. read more

The place is really nice. I wish we got to sit in the "patio" area because they had heaters going and it was much warmer than the other sections of the restaurant. First off, the waiter. We asked him about what he recommends and he starts off by saying, "well, there isn't anything that I would say you HAVE to have". And then he told us he doesn't know what the specials are so he needs someone to write them down and that he would bring it to us. (It never came.) The octopus starter was good. The croquette was ok too. I don't know if they had a shortage on plates but they kept trying to remove plates as soon as we took things off of them. But there was sauce that we wanted to dip from the main plate. The rolls... they all are overly lemon-y. My god, even the uni sushi we got had a sight taste of lemon on it. Not good. The blue crab cut roll was the only thing that didn't have a lemon taste to it. The udon carbonara didn't really taste like anything. Nothing special. The udon is not freshly made. I highly recommend getting their signature cocktails then transitioning to appetizers and main courses. Service/Ambiance - When we walked in, the hostess made a very rude comment about how they 'just let anybody walk into the place'. Uncalled for and unnecessary. The gentleman walking us in said, 'they're with me' at her rude comment. Minutes later, the rude greeter proceeded to toss, yes TOSS the menus onto our table.
