The sole idea of taking it to the dealer gave me stomach ache, so I decided to do a Yelp search, and Voila! I was in the route to climate recovery. I ended at JR Discount Tires and Service thanks to a very honest recommendation from another mechanic in the area (see my review on Triana & Sons). First thing I noticed, the garage was full with cars like mine. Good sign. Carlos, the owner, a friendly man was in his tiny office in the back of the garage. I stated my dilemma and immediately he told me what the problem was without checking my car. To be honest, I didn't like that. (Imagine a doctor telling you, you have cancer without touching you). According to him the AC resistant and the micro filter needed to be replaced. He gave me an estimate. For some inexplicable reason (maybe heat exhaustion), I trusted him (I usually don't trust mechanics in Miami; they happily and without hesitation defraud women). He sent his son to buy the parts at the dealer, and my car was freezing cold in 4 hours. Keep in mind I showed up out of the blues and he accommodated my car to be fix on a busy Saturday. I really appreciated that. Also, he showed me the old parts he replaced. I liked that too. The repair cost was very reasonable (less than $300 for parts and labor), in comparison with the bills I used to get from the dealer. Always up to $500 and more. If you ask me, I will continue taking my car there. I was very pleased. Attention BMW owners: Carlos worked in BMW for more than 20 years, so take your Beamer there without hesitation. He had very reasonable prices, and knows BMWs inside out.

Later in the day, I received a price quote that was very high for a standard inspection and oil change - 3 times what the dealer wanted to charge me. I messaged them back and told them that I would collect the car as the price was too high and they re-quoted it to just include a standard oil change/fluid top-up, no other diagnostics or inspections. That was more reasonable, but still slightly higher than the dealer. Despite the pricing, service and professionalism was excellent. The job was done very quickly and my car was washed and shining clean when I picked it up. Their advisors were extremely friendly and I received a nice hand-written note afterward. The facility seems clean enough to eat off the floor. I'll keep them at 5 stars despite the pricing because I know that they don't really specialize in basic oil changes. They're not trying to compete with the dealers or gas station down the street. Asking for an oil change here is like asking a heart surgeon to put a band-aid on your cut. You can see by the cars that they service and their reputation that they know what they are doing. I will most certainly consider them for more advanced work in the future.
