This place is an amazing vineyard a Chad a great selection of wines at different price points. There are two flight selections you can choose from, a premium or regular and you get 5 tastes a flight. You can add a single tasting or buy glasses or bottles as well. Prices are very reasonable and atmosphere is beautiful. Especially there outside patio. Sometimes they have music playing as well which is a wonderful addition. They do serve small snacks and charcuterie as well which and a wonderful touch. You are walking distance from several other wineries which is a nice perk. Enjoy! Cheers :) read more

Great vineyard and wonderful wine tasting. It was a little stop for us to experience once and we were blown away. The service was really friendly too. read more

This winery is a delightful experience with warm staff, outdoor picnicking and delicious wines. Our party of seven undertook the premium tasting with five excellent wines by a knowledgeable steward who helped us discern more of our preferences in our purchases as well. Outdoors at picnic tables, we were surrounded by wedding parties and wine tours but did not feel crowded, rushed or bothered by the mix of people. Instead, we brought out our own picnic and enjoyed the fine Gewurztraminer purchased for our group. I'd strongly encourage those visiting the area with serious wine interest to come to Lenz where a higher quality, more customized tasting experience is provided in a welcoming surround of people and place. read more

This is a cute winery. There's a lot of land for an expansive vineyard and they do the bottling for some other vineyard. The atmosphere is folksy. They have live music and a portable brick oven for making pizza fashioned from a modified stainless steel truck. Outside food is permitted. The tasting is reasonably priced but I found nothing I liked. read more

Lenz , if memory serves is one of the older and better Long Island wineries.I bought a Chardonnay and a Gewurztraminer here. I would rate it one of the reliables. In other words , you're probably not going to get a clinker here. One thing that I like about Long island, is the use of Gewurztraminer. You can make it into a desert wine, which is good but what I really like is when it's made into a real table wine that preserves the fruit without the cloying sweetness that hits so many of the classic Alsatians. Lenz does it well. read more

Great tasting! The staff was informative, personable and made time for us even though we showed up close to closing time. Wide variety of wines and to our surprise, quite tasty! These wines tasted as they should and we were impressed with the cab frac and the 2004 cab sauv. Even our CA friends were impressed! Lenz is a must for our return trip. read more

I suppose most of their glowing reviews are from pre-covid times. While the wines at Lenz were drinkable, none were enticing enough for any of our 4-person party to purchase a bottle. The service we had on a Saturday afternoon (with reservation) was rushed, and in terms of the mandatory food selection, you think they could do better than just dumping plastic wrapped cheeses/meats and a pile of disposable utensils on the table. I'd say skip it. We've had better experiences down the road at McCall, Bedell, Lieb, and Shinn. read more

If you like big red wines from Argentina or Chile or France you will love the Lenz tasting menu. We were a bit confused by the tasting menu and having already been to another winery just let the host choose a flight based on what we said we liked $20 per person. It and they were awesome! We had stopped at the famed food truck up the road and the staff had no issues with us bringing in our lobster rolls. The place is relaxed and low key not uppity or intimidating - everyone will enjoy a tasting here! Best part is you taste really delicious wines made right here on Long Island! And Doug was attentive and shared his expertise! read more

For wine beginners, this would be a good visit. It has outdoor tastings which is always pleasant on a nice day. Although very junior the staff were nice and accommodating. Red wines are mediocre but the Pinot Gris was delightful. My understanding is that the owners sold the business so they are trying to keep their legacy going as the second oldest winery in the north folk. read more

Lenz is a beautiful winery with an extraordinary staff and great wine! I spent my birthday there on Wednesday with a group of 10 people. Jerol is a gracious host and gave us an impromptu tour of the winery explaining Lenz' history and vision. His incredible knowledge was only exceeded by his passion for wine making. And the wine was spectacular! Each tasting better than the next. Lenz is a beautiful winery with an interesting history. It was a great way to spend a special day. read more

I was part of a group tasting, did 5 wines on picnic tables in the back area. Wine quality was just OK. My fave was a smooth pinot gris; rose was too dry with sour notes, merlot overly tannic. Staff seemed overwhelmed and inconvenienced by our very presence, didn't explain much about the wines as the staff did at our previous North Fork stop. It was a hot day and umbrellas were so small that we were roasting, not a good environment for drinking alcohol. Even so I bought 2 bottles of white blend in the indoor tasting area on my way out. Amazingly, the jerk who rang me up claimed they didn't have any bags with handles left so I had to carry the loose bottles back to the bus. After that I saw people come out with wine in bags, so he was either lazy or full of s**t. Also charged me tax on top of full retail price, chintzy move for an on-site purchase. Could have done better at my friendly local liquor store and gotten a bag too! Meh and feh. read more

We had an amazing time at Lenz. As my parents are members we were able to reserve a table in the shade and bring our 6 month old daughter. All the staff were personable and readily available to answer any questions. We can't wait to visit again. read more

Too bad, so sad. Our trio went in, money in hand, ready to sample what was on offer. The tasting room wasn't overly crowded and yet the staff was not capable of keeping up as groups of people left spots open at the counter. Even a "be with you in a minute" would have been preferable to standing there ignored for over ten minutes. How do they handle crowded? We'll never know. Wineries are plentiful in the area. I suggest visiting another instead. read more

On my recent trip to the North Fork wineries, we visited 4 vineyards and this was definitely the least favorite overall. Here's why: 1) We did a couple of wine tastings and although the girl serving us was very nice, she didn't seem to be able to describe the wine with much depth. I am no expert on wine, but I felt like I could have done a better job. 2)The manager was extremely snobby and seemed not to care whatsoever about the questions we had. I will add, he had a larger party that he was tending to, however, having worked in customer service for much of my life, there is no excuse for being completely rude. 3) The wines we tasted (I did the Estate and my friend did the Premier) and it just didn't seem to compare to the others we had tried earlier in the day. EXCEPT for the Cuvee Sparkling Wine. Probably the best I've ever had. We kept describing it as "evaporating in our mouths". One thing I will give them, the barn is pretty cute where we did the tastings and it seemed to have a nice outdoor area as well. Overall though, a decent stop, but there are better. read more

This was the first stop on our yearly bus tour out east to the wineries. (We were the first bus to arrive) Not greeted as we got off the bus and were not very sure where to go. Some of our party did separate ( bathroom, cigarette break, store). When our server did arrive she seemed annoyed because we were not altogether and pointed to an area where she wanted us to go and sit. We've had a good experience in the past but it wasn't going to happen this time. I forget the female server's name, but she was rude and condescending and short on patience with 27 of us at three separated tables. The same glass was used for all three pairings. Our server made sure she mentioned three times that everything was included except the tip. Surprisingly one person bought wine at this stop read more

We were here for about an hour while on a wine tour that hit up 3 vineyards. We arrived late so we didn't get to do anything other than sample 4 wines in their tasting room. Our server was very nice and friendly and didn't rush us although we were late. And they give nice size pours for taste testing. They gave the most generous pours out of the 3 vineyards we stopped at and I liked their wine flavors the best. read more

Good as usual. We did the reserve tasting. It was over priced but palatable. The staff was not as knowledgeable as one would hope.

Very cute location. Lots of outdoor seating. They have wine sampling by the taste, so you can have as many or as little different wines as you like. Friendly and down to earth staff. Would definitely come back to enjoy a glass of wine outdoors. read more

We liked this place. It had a charming atmosphere with a little fromagerie stand. The wine was good, but not my favorite. But that's just my particular taste preference. If you like earthy flavors- then you will love their wine. The service was good. We did not stick around for lunch hour, but I wish we had gone back during lunch. They have food trucks and live music. Although they open at 10 AM (earlier than many wineries), I would suggest going there during lunch time. read more

Great, laid-back winery. Small, sweet and welcoming. Allowed us to bring in our own food to enjoy in their lovely outdoor seating area while we tried their $10 wine tasting menu. There was also an artisanal cheese van on site serving up some delectable treats, and some live music, which contributed to a lovely, relaxing way to pass the afternoon. read more

This was the first stop on our wine tour of the day and while I'm not generally in the habit of drinking wine at 11 in the morning, I'm always wiling to make exceptions. This place runs a swift business and it seems to cater to larger, pre-arranged group tastings. They send around an individual who explains your wine flight for the tasting, you get a real glass (which apparently isn't always a thing) and they'll even explain the tasting notes to you. It's a small space, and the bathroom situation is a bit confusing (there are portapotties and a building marked "Private Residence" that seems to be actual toilets? It's unclear). They run a brisk business and were packed by 11:45. It's a nice location and they have a lovely rose that I highly recommend. read more

A cute winery on a less-than-stellar wine trail. Out of the wineries we visited, the wines at Lenz were the most memorable. It was harder to choose a favorite here than at other places. The employees also seemed knowledgeable and genuinely cared about and were interested in the products. I also felt that the prices were reasonable. The tasting room is in an old "potato barn" and had cute decor. On a nice day, they have tables and chairs outside and it was a relaxing place to sit and enjoy a glass (or two) of their wines. If ever in the area again, I would go back. read more

Have been a member of the wine club for years. The focus here is on the wine. The add on experiences for the Chardonnay and Merlot tastings are truly worthwhile if you can make them. The Cuvee and Old Vines are really a cut above. This is not a party place but for those looking for serious wine. read more

I visited 3 wineries that day and this one was the only one where I was able to enjoy the tasting. Decent Chardonnay and and OK Merlot. Cute place, attentive manager and Glasses (as opposed to plastic cups in the other wineries). read more

We stopped at Lenz as part of a tasting tour. This was my first visit here and I thought the service was great. Adrianna was knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds looked well kept and the outdoor seating area was perfect for the gorgeous day we had. Wines were delicious. I would absolutely return and would take advantage of a full tour so I could get to see more of the vineyard. Also wouldn't mind going back a little later in the day to get a chance to listen to the live music outside. read more

1.5 stars. this was one stop on a wine tour. (so honestly, i should like it more bc i'd had a glass before arriving!) the wines we tried here were AWFUL. we sat in this back room on long, gross, uneven benches. it SMELLED, and again, the wines were not great. the bathroom was so tiny you probably could have peed standing up. that said, it had a nice area outdoors with grape vines draped near which to sit. granted it was damp out from the morning rain, but such is life. terrible wine (we tried 3). will not be back. read more

I was recently on a bachelorette weekend with some friends in the North Fork. We were not a rowdy bunch, as one might imagine with a bachelorette party. We were not looking to get wasted, most of us are married with kids. Anyway, a lot of wineries don't welcome groups, and I can't say I blame them. Lenz is ok with groups as long as you reserve in advance, which we did. As soon as we arrived, we were given a lovely table in the courtyard right in the sunshine. We did the group tasting, which consisted of two white, one rose and two reds for $15 per person. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable about the wine. He gave us plenty of time between each (generous) pour. We had a lovely experience. Highly recommended. read more

This was the last winery that my friends and I visited this past weekend. The parking lot isn't as formal, but like Pellegrini, you're surrounded by lots of open air and vineyards - a very pleasant place to be at in the late afternoon. We got in just before it started clearing out, so the tasting bar was a bit crowded, and it was hard to get our drinks served properly. We all ended up going with the 7 for $7, which was a great deal compared to the others. The only thing that kind of sucked was that we got a couple of chardonnays and a couple of merlots. I'm not a big wine connoisseur by any stretch, but I would've loved to try different grapes across the board. Of these, the one I remember most was the Gewurztraminer, which was peachy and indeed have hints of lychee that the description stated. The rest was a bit of a blur - having had 10 or so half-glasses of wine turns a lot of wine into generic-tasting alcohol, but there weren't many that blew me away. We also got a glass of the 1996 Cuvee sparkling wine, which had to be the best sparkling wine I've had. It was light, but not so much that it tasted watered down like the cheap stuff. My buddy got one to celebrate with once he defends his doctoral dissertation - a good choice! Lenz was pleasant, and I'd love to stop by again. It's not as convenient or as visitor-friendly as the other places in terms of accommodations, though, and I do wish that the variety of wines was a little broader (one thing I was a fan of at Pellegrini). read more

Very disappointing experience at this winery. We had a tour organized and this was the first stop. We entered the nice tasting room and were told to check in at the next building, which was a house, and to ask for Michael. We entered through a kitchen and were greeted by Michael. I thought that after we checked in that we would go back out to the tasting room but we were brought into a living room and sat at a picnic table that belonged outside. I would have never made reservations at this winery if I knew I would be doing the tasting in a house. We got one flight. Our server seemed like he was half asleep and did apologize for stuttering his speech, even though it was 1pm. The whites were brought out first and we were told we would receive the reds shortly after. After 45 minutes we received our reds and left shortly after. The wine wasn't great. The scenery wasn't great. If you go into the tasting room maybe its a different experience but there are so many other wineries around that I don't need to give this one a second try. read more

Great wines at Lenz. This is the only winery I found in the North Fork that produces a Cabernet Sauvignon. Both the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Merlot were very good. The 2007 Merlot was my favorite pick of this winery. read more

This wine was pretty good. Wine tasting is very subjective and I'm partial to the sweeter wine. None of their wines have any residual sugar left in them. I did have a glass of the Chardonnay which was very good stop by if you like the dryer wines read more

I've visited Lenz independently and as a part of a tour; my prior experiences have been positive. Lenz had never rushed me in the past, and my group was free to snack at the outdoor tables, order glasses and bottles at our leisure, and sample an assortment of wines from knowledgeable staff members. My last visit, however, was quite bizarre. It was so odd that I think Lenz must be purposely discouraging tours because I cannot fathom another reason for the scenario I encountered. The menu consisted of only three tastes, which is certainly different from my other stops here. Our host did not seem to know the wines well at all; her description of the first one may as well have been "The wine is either red or white." In the past, we were allowed to venture inside and purchase glasses when we wanted. This time, we were told that we must order through our server; she actually said the following words: "So I can get credit." If I have the option, I will not return here on a tour. I felt sequestered outside to our one table, and it seemed as though we were not wanted. read more

I came here with a bachelorette party for Elegant Wine Tours. The ambiance was very welcoming and intimate. I only gave it an A-Ok rating because we were not able to select the wine. We went to Lenz as part of our wine tour for our friend's 40th birthday. The wine and staff were decent. What upset me the most is that after our tour was over, we waited for our ride inside. We were told that we were no longer allowed inside and had to wait outside in the freezing, windy, cold weather. To me, that is unacceptable and unkind. There were only two of us who were willing to purchase more wine but after that, we were only allowed to take warmth In the bathroom across the way from the actual vineyard, where I am writing this right now. Where is your kindness and compassion? Lenz allowed two young women to be out alone in the cold. Really?? Unacceptable. I will never support this vineyard again. Not because their wine was bad, but because they were so dismissive in such an unnecasssry way, and that was terrible! read more
