This was the first stop on our wine tour, which I'm happy about because it ended up being the best stop of them all. Jaime was amazing - so sassy and funny, he had us cracking up the whole time. He was knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tasting very much. The White Label Chardonnay ended up being a group favorite and most of us bought a bottle to take home. Delicious, almost buttery, not too sweet but very crisp. $15/bottle. The grounds were beautiful as well and good for staying for a while. Venturing out to the North Fork is far for me. This is one of the wineries that I would recommend and make the trip out for. read more

Apparently Lenz Vineyards / Winery commands having 2 entries on Yelp, so I will spam both of them and list my review on the other Lenz page too. I'll start off by saying that I've become a red wine and champagne snob throughout the years. Funny, because I grew up hating red wine specifically because I hated the taste of it...(that's what crappy Merlot will do to ya huh?). For several years, I couldn't stand the taste of LI wines. I was a huge Russian River Valley/Willamette Valley Pinot Noir kinda guy + Bordeaux. This past summer, I went wine tasting with one of my buddies one weekend and started to realize that there actually are a few good wineries here on good ol' Long Island. We stumbled across Lenz on Main Road while driving around randomly stopping at wineries (which btw, is a great way to do LI Wine country). I instantly fell in love with their selection of wines, cuvees of the sparkling variety and most importantly their Cabernet Sauvignon 2005. Barbara & Adrianna were the 2 women who were doing the pourings/tastings and are both absolutely awesome. I ended up hanging out and trying several of their Chards, Merlots, Old Vines wines etc and was instantly sold on joining their wine club which I've done. I'm now a level 2 member which also grants me access to their gorgeous cottage on the vineyard. They are also the ONLY winery on the north fork that opens at 10AM!!!! And believe me, we're there at 10:01 walking in and asking for tastings. Lenz is completely UNpretentious. cute and small and very unassuming. They know their wines, they know they're not the best out there but are fairly good from a vino offering standpoint. I highly suggest you stop by....you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been to the vineyards out in Long Island a dozen or so times, but I never thought to stop at Lenz Winery. Finally, when we found out our friends were running a bit late to another vineyard, we decided to check this vineyard out without any expectations. There is a nice private garden-like seating area. A few tables are out in front of the barn to sit at with some shade. The tasting room is located inside a small rustic barn. The entire inside is gutted outside and a long counter-top is placed lengthwise so customers can try Lenz wine. We tried a nice flight for $7 that allows you to try several wines. The wines were decently good, in my opinion, putting it up against contenders like Pindar, Osprey's Dominion, Martha Clara, and Duck Walk. I was really glad to finally check out this vineyard, so much so, that I bought a bottle of wine and will definitely be back on my next visit to the vineyards out in Long Island. read more

Came back for my birthday the next season and it was great! We ordered the cheese plate which was yummy, our server was absolutely AMAZING, they even stored a cake we brought somewhere for us while we did 2 wine flights, and there was great live music! Visited here on my Pour & Pedal trip and this was my favorite winery. The wine is delicious, even the white for a non-white drinker - try the Geursdaveiner!! My favorite is the 2012 Cabernet. The scenery here is beautiful even in the beginning of the spring when I visited. Amazing pictures. I can't wait to see it in the summer! So many possibilities for events here. Lenz was the highlight of our Saturday wine tour! We arrived around noon and were seated right away. Jeff, our sommelier who ran our tasting, was beyond fantastic! Probably the best tasting I've had...he shared just enough information that we learned something and the info he shared was actually really cool and relevant to the region. I can't emphasize how fantastic he wasn't The tasting includes 5 wines and we actually enjoyed all of them. It does seem that they are better known for their reds, particularly the merlot. The winery has a number of picnic tables and Adirondack chairs seatings you can enjoy too! The tasting room is fairly small but offers a large bar and a small selection of merchandise/wine related items. In the warm weather they also have a food truck that you could purchase lunch from and we also saw people bringing their own food in. Dogs are allowed here too! A lovely spot on the North Fork wine trail! I love their set-up. They have a beautiful and peaceful patio where you could totally forget that you're so close to the main road, and their tasting room is open and cozy, without being too big or too small. I've visited once a year for the past few years, and really enjoyed their wines every time. My favorites are usually the oak-fermented Chardonnay, their dry rose, and I've never had a red from Lenz that I didn't enjoy. Tables here were set up outside which is nice but it was just too hot the area were the tables are should probably be more covered up drinking while sweating balls is not a good combo. First up were the lighter wines Pino Gris light tasting not bad then a Old vine Gewurtraminer say that 3 times fast lolll this was very good nice light taste. Gold label Chardonnay another light wine good as as well a smooth dry taste. Next was the Cabernet Sauvignon nice taste & finally the Estate selection a merlot strong woodsy smell not bad tasting. As we tried the various selections we had our lunch served here this was provided by our tour Sandwiches, chips, apples & water not terrible hit the stop after a few drinks. Once done we made our way inside to cool off, nice seating area here u can purchase some wines, candy or just simply relax for a bit. Spent the most wonderful afternoon at Lenz. Their wines are some of the best --and not just on the North Fork: the Old Vines Chardonnay and Cabernet are outstanding, as is the Rose pet nat. Firefly rose and merlot also had many fans. But it's more than just excellent wine: the tasting room and outdoor tables are beautiful, the servers are knowledgeable and attentive and there are lots of tasty food options and non alcoholic drinks for everyone. It's just as comfortable as sitting outside for lunch at any restaurant and you get to taste amazing wines. Lenz a great way to spend a summer day. read more

I am not a wine person but I didn't like the wines at all. They tasted like vinegar honestly. The tasting room was very nice and the grounds were gorgeous. The perfect experience brought to you by the people that truly love their craft!!!! I am not easily impressed by nature and have busted more than half of the 50 producing vineries on the island, but Lenz's is really special. Let's start with the wine. It's just really really good. The Sauvignon blanc, the tete a tete and the Malbec were my favorites. On top of that the vinery is situated on a pretty amazing block of land. You can spend hours on the property watching time stop. We took our grandparents here for a tour. We were late and Jerol waited for us and took his time to show them around the property, explain the process and answer the questions they had. Sean guided us through the tasting and it felt like you were his guests rather than his customers. Overall just amazing. Will be back over and over again. read more

Came to this spot as part of a package paired with a couple of other wineries in Long Island. I'd say Lenz was the most forgettable. Horrible! If I could give 0 stars I would! We were shoved in a corner inside yet still had to use the unsanitary outdoor bathrooms! They set our table inside next to a drink refrigerators next to a dusty plant. Some employees were rude and got an attitude when we asked why we had to sit like this , 2 tables and folding chairs! I've had some good fun here the past two visits. I really like that they open at 10AM so the early birds can start their day off the right way. Each of the wines I've had so far has been good, I particularly liked the Merlot and the Sparkling Cuvee here. The place gets crazy on the weekends, even first thing in the morning, so be prepared for large limos/buses and crowds. When we showed up at 10 the tasting room still smelled a bit like spilled drinks from the day before but we were served quickly and took our drinks to the outdoor seating. There are plenty of areas to hang out with friends and it's full but you don't feel crowded. The vines are right near the parking lot too in case you want to stroll down a row and check them out. This is a fun location along the Long Island wine trail that I'd recommend to others. read more

Really fun winery! I came here with a couple of friends while we were spending the day in North Fork. We came to Lenz because of the amazing reviews and the live music. We ended up getting the flight of wine - the classic one for $12. It consisted of 5 wines (3 white and 2 reds) that they produce every year. They do have a premium flight for $15, which consists of 5 wines that they produce only on special years. My favorite of the flight has to be the Gewürztraminer. It had notes of apricot, pineapple and lychee. It was so good, I ended up getting a bottle for $22. We also ended up getting some cheese, honey and crackers. The cheese was from a local goat farm. It was garlic and herb flavor which was delicious!! I also had no idea that honey with goat cheese tastes so good. Overall had a great experience here. Great vibes, music, service, cheese and wine! I'll certainly be back here again if I'm in the area. read more

Came here in September for a winery tour. The staff were very courteous, attentive, and helpful. We sampled three white wines, all of which were very delicious. I liked that all three styles of the white wine had different, distinct flavors. It was easy to tell the difference between them because they were so different. This place is a nice spot to relax, nothing too special or unique about it. Rustic interior in which you can purchase wine and use the restroom. The outside patio has a beautiful wooden overhang which captures the sunlight and has vines growing all around, it made for some very beautiful pictures. I understand that the person giving us samples was busy, and we were laughing a bit to loud (but that never hurt no oneeee, Billy Joel, anyone!?) In all seriousness, huffing very loudly as we asked questions, pretty much told us we were annoying, never smiled. I really don't like when people get frustrated for having to do their job. Overall, not the most memorable of vineyards, but pleasant. Was lacking anything unique about the grounds, not the best of views, kind of small. read more

This winery is located in north fork in the Long Island wine region. Small winery but all their wines are estate bottled. That means they use their own grapes from vineyards to make wine. Surprisingly not all the wineries are doing it. And I really value the estate bottled wines because that's real local wine. Nice spacey old barn style tasting room. They have two type of tastings which were 'estate' and 'premium'. I tried 'premium flight' and some of other whites. I liked 2007 old vines merlot. It was earthy, complexed and beautiful. I think the wine needed a little more aging in the cellar to mature. It was still a beautiful merlot. I also enjoyed 2010 old vines Gewürztraminer. Floral aroma with dry finish was good. Price was bit steep for those wines in 'premium flight' but I can see they have high standard for their wines. They have nice selection of wines. I'll try estate flight next time I visit. It's nice place to stop and do tasting. It's worth a visit if you are one of the serious wine lovers and taste quality wines from a NY winery. read more

I was recommended to come here by a few friends who are a bit of a wine buff, so why not. My friends and I came here and it just seems like a fun time to be in a barn. We got a table where they stored barrels of wine and I honestly thought, great, we're not getting served. No, the service was great. So when it came to our tastings, we just told the guy to just pour us wine. I want to say we got about 9-10 tastings, price was not bad at all. We also ordered mango habanero cheese and herb cheese with crackers. That was delicious. I really like their reds, especially the barrel stored wines. When it came to the steel stored wines, there was a slight metal aftertaste. Atmosphere's great. Def a great time. read more

The winery itself was small and cute but the reason for this 1 star is because of a terrible experience with an employee I had. I bought a bottle that I really liked and I gave her a $100. She gave me the wrong change and the change wasn't a huge difference but the fact that it was off I noticed and asked to how m much the bottle was because two of my friends bought the same. I asked excuse me and the employee raises her finger to my face which was extremely rude and proceeds to ignore me. I asked her how much the bottle was and then pointed out the change was wrong. I told her how rude it was to raise a finger to someone's face and she proceeded to not be apologetic nor did she understand customer service. Absolutely beautiful winery. I came here with two others on Sunday (7/7) as a walk-in and was seated right away. I was told that we were very lucky as there was a thunderstorm in the forecast which made it so the winery was empty (usually it's very busy). My extremely knowledgeable server gave a story to every wine she poured for us - I never received such in depth information at any other winery on Eastern Long Island. I enjoyed the cheeses with honey along with my wine and everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend and can not wait for my next visit! read more

From our experience , no winery here compares to the wines produced by the soils of Napa, however for LI, Lenz's wines were superior as a whole. They offered great variety worth drinking and not dumping. Also, they have great outdoor space to hang out and enjoy the weather . Try the Premium tasting with the Malbec and Cab. This place is an amazing vineyard a Chad a great selection of wines at different price points. There are two flight selections you can choose from, a premium or regular and you get 5 tastes a flight. You can add a single tasting or buy glasses or bottles as well. Prices are very reasonable and atmosphere is beautiful. Especially there outside patio. Sometimes they have music playing as well which is a wonderful addition. They do serve small snacks and charcuterie as well which and a wonderful touch. They have live music and a portable brick oven for making pizza fashioned from a modified stainless steel truck. Outside food is permitted. This stop was part of our self-researched North Fork Wine Tour, and we are glad we came! Initially it was a bit more impersonal, partially due to a lot of people inside the tasting room (including the requisite woo-girls group with their limo). I don't like it when I can overhear the server recite the same description to another group then say it verbatim to us. Of course it's the same, but I like the illusion of personalizing the experience. We ended up tasting a nice affordable Cab Sauv that we bought, and had a much more pleasant time once everyone had left. Basically I just need everyone else to leave so I can drink in peace. Lenz , if memory serves is one of the older and better Long Island wineries.I bought a Chardonnay and a Gewurztraminer here. I would rate it one of the reliables. In other words , you're probably not going to get a clinker here. One thing that I like about Long island, is the use of Gewurztraminer.You can make it into a desert wine, which is good but what I really like is when it's made into a real table wine that preserves the fruit without the cloying sweetness that hits so many of the classic Alsatians. I suppose most of their glowing reviews are from pre-covid times. While the wines at Lenz were drinkable, none were enticing enough for any of our 4-person party to purchase a bottle. The service we had on a Saturday afternoon (with reservation) was rushed, and in terms of the mandatory food selection, you think they could do better than just dumping plastic wrapped cheeses/meats and a pile of disposable utensils on the table. I'd say skip it. We've had better experiences down the road at McCall, Bedell, Lieb, and Shinn. read more
