Unsure about all of the negative reviews. Of the 2 times I've been here (1st check in) I have been helped in a relatively fast manner. The staff has been Friendly and knowledgeable. I was here to choose safety glasses- scratch resistant, ansi certified, with splash guards. There was a wide selection, some even trendy looking. The downside with this business is that both times I have been here easily 5 to 7 workers have been standing around at the checkout desk just talking and not helping any of the patrons in the store. I Would give this location 0 Stars if it were an option. I am appalled by the way the Store manager Bridget handled my concern of being charged for a contact lense exam and fitting in addition to the eye exam which was the only exam I came in for. I was even asked again at the point of my exam day if I wanted contacts and I specifically told the lady helping me no, just the eye exam. After reviewing my receipt and seeing that I was charged for both and was submitted to my insurance I asked her to refund this from my order and also my insurance benefit. Bridget's response was not only unfriendly and rude throughout this transaction but what she said in response rather than doing as I asked was horrible. She proceeded to admit they made a mistake but then went on to justify it by saying "WELL YOUR INSURANCE COVERED IT"). Not only did she say this in response to requesting for the correction the first time, she then proceeded to say this again when my response was to again correct the error the second time by telling her I did not get, nor did I request this service and regardless if the insurance covered it, this is not a benefit I elected to use of my insurance. This is not ok in any way, shape, or form for any employee let alone a manager to be addressing an issue of this type with any customer. In addition to this after asking her if she can confirm that the benefit was corrected with my insurance she indicated very rudely that this is not something she can do and that it takes however long it takes. This is an end of year claim naturally time is of the essence. I reached out to my insurance company while there in the store to confirm this myself and was told that this was in-fact something the manager should have submitted to them to correct the claim benefit in which the insurance representative observed how unwilling to help Bridget was to correct this over the phone with me that she requested I hand my phone to the manager to get her to correct what she indicated was actually her responsibility to handle. Bridget was just as rude with her on the phone as with me in which she began asking her for her name to report this behavior and she did not want to comply. Finally Bridget ended up completing the correction for this in the computer never apologizing for anything at all and maintaining the rudest attitude the entire time. After finally correcting this issue I then proceeded to address the second reason for my return visit, which was to address the cost of my one pair of glasses that I purchased. The frame cost was ($220) and the lenses cost was ($1798) with insurance applied reducing this total cost to ($1200). Which is still an astronomical price to pay for any glasses with insurance benefits I might add. While during the selection of the frames and fitting I inquired why was the cost so high? In which I was told my prescription is a heavy prescription and that I also chose the wider view progressive lens option known as Physio lenses with blue light and the thinnest option for the lenses that was the reason why it was so high. I thought well, maybe my eyes were that bad, and proceeded to pay for my $1200 pair of glasses. Unbeknown to me that this was an utter price gouging rip off that I thought was explained through being led to believe this was due to my prescription magnatute and type. All of which is completely untrue. After arriving home that night the cost I paid did not sit well with me and I began to search all competitors. Only to find ALL of them offered the same exact options in lenses and frames for a fraction of the cost ranging from $337-$557. I then went onto Lenscrafters site and selected the same which showed $771 for the exact same pair I purchased. When I asked Bridget if she could explain this to me after showing her the company's own pricing she said it didn't include the phisio option which was $300 more. Unable to confirm this with her and based on the way I was treated throughout this encounter in addition to the insane mark up I was charged, I cancelled my order completely. I will never go back there again! What is being done there is appalling, whether it be an accidental mistake made on their behalf, deliberate gouging, and potentially even insurance fraud. Anyone willing to take a gamble to visit this location please check your receipts closely and follow up on pricing. I ended up going to another vision center that wouldn't you know offered the exact same progressive wide range lenses as the physio lenses with all of the exact same options as I selected at Lenscrafters and paid $398 all said and done. I was able to purchase a complete additional pair for still less than what Lenscrafters charged me for. Two pairs $680. In regards to Bridget and the way she treated me and the insurance representative, it is my opinion that Bridget does not belong in customer service at all and this was completely unacceptable behavior. They won't correct my glasses. I had a protection plan and exchanged my glasses at the end of the period. The new ones came in and they cause pain in my eyes and I was blatantly told it's company policy that they cannot fix the issue . I want you to know I will never buy another pair of eyeglasses from Len's Crafters, nor will I allow my 3 children to buy a pair of eyeglasses from Len's Crafters. I bought a pair of eyeglasses from your Vernon Hills, IL branch in the Townhall Mall. I also have never dealt with a more rude & obnoxious person than the manager at that store. The first time I brought in my prescription the lenses were not grounded to the correct prescription, so I took them back. The second time was not any better, they did not agree so I took my prescription back to the eye doctor & he verified the prescription was still not accurate. Finally, the third time they did not fit the frames correctly, as they were too big & kept sliding off my nose. I gave up & went to Target Optical who was able to both ground the lenses correctly & fit me with the correct frames. I have a high prescription so it usually takes a couple of weeks before my prescription is prepared. Despite my buying Len's Crafter's extended protection policy, the manager refused to even talk to me. She said your eyeglasses are over 30 days old, & therefore I won't even discuss this with you. So, perhaps she will talk to the judge in small claims court & Len's Crafters can pay for their lawyer to appear in court. As a former attorney, I have no qualms about appearing in court. I am also notifying my health insurance company so the obnoxious manager at this store can deal with Humana, and Humana will know how bad Len's Crafters is and maybe cut them off their approved list. Just so you are aware Len's Crafters just had a Class Action suit filed against them - well deserving. read more

Everytime I go to this store they will hand a bill for unexpected charges. They will tell you they accept your insurance, run it for you and then once the service is completed, they will hand you a bill saying this is what your insurance does not cover. Don't trust what they tell you when you make an appointment, check with your insurance and be prepared for unexpected charges. Yes, like some of the positive reviews say they are friendly, its just lip service. They are scammers. If you have a choice of going elsewhere, don't go to this Lenscrafters. read more

I don't know what happened to my original post. I recommend going elsewhere. I picked up two pairs of glasses over a month ago. A third pair was completely unacceptable. I was helped by a loud and aggressive saleswoman who informed another employee that she would take over after I asked that the glasses be remade. Then she told the same employee to "watch out" for a party who politely, in my opinion, told her that they decided to go elsewhere. Perhaps a heads up for me. After being condescended to and addressed as "dear" by the first employee, a second doctor re-examined my eyes. Good enough. She at least apologized for her own action of addressing me in a condescending way. I was not given a new receipt that should have included the results of the second examination. Two weeks later, then at three and a half weeks, I called again to check on my glasses. They were finally ready to pick up. A slight improvement in the glasses, but still blurry and essentially unusable. So, over $200 for an unusable pair. Despite the fact that the saleswoman who helped me today was polite, I am not pleased by the condescending manner in which I was addressed by multiple employees, nor am I happy with waiting three and a half weeks for a remade pair of glasses. December 30, 2022: This is my second experience at the LensCrafters is Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills where I walked into the store and waited over 40 minutes to be serviced by someone. Both instances, I had to initiate the encounter with the store manager. Coming into the store, I knew exactly which frames I wanted and grabbed them immediately but no one came to assist. I wasn't even greeted coming into the store. Other customers walked into the store and they were greeted and serviced. My patience for people in situations such as these is great and I always wait around to see what the person will do. There was no apology given and the manager, Patrick, acted as if he did not care whatsoever that he and his staff gave extremely poor customer service. The only reason I came back to this location a second time is because it was the only location with the frame that I wanted, believe me, I called several other locations. I will only be returning to pick up my glasses and will never return to this location. Update-Sunday, January 29, 2023: I am still waiting on my glasses. I called once after 7 days and again after 10 days. On the 7th day, the associate I spoke with let me know that the frames were almost ready to ship and just give it a few more days. On the 10th day, a different associate responded with a snarky tone asking "did we call you or send you a text message?" I responded by stating, "I have not been called nor did I receive a text which is why I am calling because its been 10 days." So finally, on January 16th, I received a text letting me know my glasses were ready for pickup. I went to pick up my glasses and again, there was no greeting when I walked into the store. I said hello and let the associate know that I was here to pick up my glasses. He asked how many and I let him know that it should be two. He went to the back and came back with one frame. He then asked "did you get one text or two?" I let him know that I only received one and he said in a snarky tone "then we only have one ready." When he showed me the frame, it was extremely wide and stretched out. I asked if this was the frame from the store because I also noticed that the display frame was missing. I tried the frame on and it fell off my face. Initially, I was just going to have him tighten them but I asked if they could be remade. He responded by saying "we will text you in 7-10 days when they come in." This has been THE WORST customer service I've ever had at this location and I've been frequenting this location for over 10 years. The first pair returned damaged and it has been about 30 days and the second pair hasn't even come in yet. This is absolutely unacceptable. read more

I've been going to this location and to Dr Michelle G. for the past 12 years. My mom goes here as well. The staff is amazing and so kind always. They're always great with any needs I have and with making scheduling/rescheduling easy. I just picked up my glasses after another annual eye exam and they're perfect! Quick, easy and they're taking all safety measurements with masks etc during COVID. I commute from 45 mins away because this is the only place I trust for me and my entire family's eye care health!! read more

I was waiting to see how they would respond before writing a review, and I just got the reply that I am posting here. Here's what they did: 1. Got my prescription wrong. 2. Got my prescription wrong again. 3. Recommended & made frames that slid off my face constantly. 4. Adjusted the frames twice to no avail. 5. Remade one of the lenses due to the wrong rx. 6. Still was blurry and sliding off my face so I just gave up and returned it. I requested a refund of my (twice) incorrect prescription via my credit card company because I was just tired of dealing with this place (as you might understand from the above - which is just a partial list of all the times I had to go there or talk to them). I just got a message that "this customer paid for an exam which he received. Please review attached receipt. The customer is not owed any refund. Thanks - Jordan S." Then they enclosed the STORE copy, meaning the STORE management refused to refund the fee for the exam as well as the corporate office. Wow. Well, that's it then. This level of a headache to get glasses (that I had to pay for) is a 1 star experience, to put it mildly. There are a few nice people here, but the rest of my experience with this lens crafters & another one in the city cemented my opinion that I am never setting foot in this chain again. I will have zero guilt about going in here to try on frames and ordering them from internet retailers who are a lot cheaper & have crizal frames with essilor coatings (that lens crafters doesn't offer even though the same company owns those lenses and this store chain). Luxottica also owns all the frames, yet they force lens crafters to mark the price up obscenely compared to online stores. It seems like all of the machines that Lens Crafters uses to speed up the process just make more errors. Five years ago (and beyond) I never had an issue with this chain in any location...and now two stores have proven to be impossible to deal with. read more

New name - LensShafters! Agree with the negative reviews. I was shafted out of hours of wasted time that I will never get back. Came in for a pair of safety glasses for work. (First wasted hour and a half). I was expecting the turn aground to be one week. Finally I get word two weeks later that they cannot full the order with my script with the selected frame size. I had to return and try on other pairs. (Second hour and a half). Because their frame selection is so poor, I had to cancel to try my luck elsewhere. Ultimately I was shafted out of 3 hours and still have no glasses. My coworker had a similar experience with the time shafting. Three trips to get her glasses because they measured her wrong for the frames and had to reorder. If you have time to burn, stop on in. If you value your time, do not go to LensShafters! read more

1.5 stars The manager was very helpful. Her customer service rep, short with blonde hair or black/blonde hair was a total arrogant, disinterested jerk. She was terrible with instructions. Do I work here? No. Am I familiar with the store and procedures? No. I could have caused a spectacle but I am Christian and I'm trying to love those who hate me. I have been going to Dr Gianfriddo for years and love her and the quality of care. 5 stars for DR G. Sadly, the office staff is completely incompetent. I went last night to order contacts, and after 45 minutes the front desk told me that they were unable to order them for me- they could not figure out how. So, I had to call again in the morning to order the contacts. The week before the "computer was down" so I was told to come back to order the contacts. They give no training to the front desk, especially HIPAA and PCI compliancy. On the day of my appointment I arrived 30 minutes early but was finished checking in 20 minutes after my appointment time. There was no reason for the delay. read more

Two well-known discount sites told me that my prescription was too difficult to fill, so I went to Lenscrafters. Jackie was my sales associate and was wonderful, checking what frames would possibly work. When the order went to the lab and the lab had an issue, manager Bridget pushed them to fill the order and to do it well. They did, and I love my glasses! Spending over $1,000 on 3 pairs of glasses gets you the following at no additional cost, just wasted time and loads of aggravation: constant congregation of errors, lack of urgency, no business sense of when to escalate a matter, poor follow-up and poor communication. Why is the customer chasing the merchant for answers when the merchant has royally screwed up in every way feasible? Business 1 on 1...FAIL. This place is just awful. I came here to treat a scratched cornea. I did not have insurance at the time, so the fact they would give me a discount because of my AAA card was appealing. It took them WEEKS to properly take care of my eye for some reason. It should have taken days. When I came in for follow-ups I saw a different doctor every time and none of them ever had the correct information on my file. They finally told me I was healed, so I then purchased new contact lenses from them. A few days later, my eye was all messed up again. Turns out my eye wasn't healed at all, and the contacts made it a lot worse. Wtf! I ended up having to go to a completely different eye doctor to get treated (there goes more money & more time wearing my glasses) and take care of my problem once and for all. I was out quite a bit of money by now and I was really upset. I did call to complain, but it fell on deaf ears. When all was said and done, I was stuck with a scratched cornea and in my glasses for almost a month. I wish I could remember the names of the doctors I saw here. There were three different ones. 10/10 across the board! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My family and I have been coming here for over 3 years and are always treated with respect and dignity. Dr. Parikh is very knowledgeable and always remembers us! My Mom needed a referral for her Glaucoma and he was extremely helpful and answered all her questions! The staff is amazing, knowledgeable, kind, patient, and compassionate. Bridget was helpful is answering questions I had about my eye prescription. Leanne answered all my questions about my insurance since it was a new plan and helped ensure I received all the discounts that applied for my contact order. Silvia explained the dilation process and the two options, including pricing, which as a Mom of 3 I sincerely appreciated! From customer service to the products offered I am always extremely satisfied! I sincerely appreciate the entire staff at the Hawthorn Mall location! I never feel like just another person who walks through the door. They care, they are thorough, and they individualize and humanize each person's experience! I was shocked to see all the bad reviews here. I just want to state out that as of 4/3/2015 that I visited, all the sales reps and doctor are super friendly and professional. Just FYI - I came in here on a Good Friday, and the store was not busy at all. Ok, so I had the worst shopping experience in a LensCrafters store in Northbrook ct, went to Pearl vision or something and didn't get a greeting while we are the only customers in store, out. Finally decided to give this store as a one last shoot. Store was empty, we got greeted instantly. They asked the right questions as what a good sales rep should ask. Did the eye exam, didn't push me into anything. They helped with recommending the right frame, helped with what the former store messed up, sold me a more expensive frame with less cost(the guy in the previous store put a bunch of useless BS in my order). I was extremely happy with the experience here today and just glad to finally ordered a nice pair of new glasses. Big recommendation for everyone. read more

My rating is NO STAR at ALL! My appointment was on Sunday, December 6th. I called the store the next day at 11:45 am to receive a refund on my eye exam that I was charged due to the system being down and unable to verify my coverage. I was told the manager was on a conference call. I called back at 1:00 pm and again at 4:00 pm. On the last call back the representative who answered the phone advised me that the manager was with a customer. I informed him that I had been waiting since 11:45 am for a call back regarding my refund. He placed me on hold and when he came back to my call he advised me that the manager had refunded my account and it would take 48 to 72 hours. I advised him that I would like to speak with the manager. He told me she was finishing up with a customer. He asked if I wanted to call back or be placed on hold. I requested to be placed on hold. When the manager came to the line she instantly advised me off the same information the previous representative provided. I advised the manger that it was not a debit/bank credit card. I stated that it was a flexible spending account credit card and would the same timeline apply. She responded with the same information so, I repeated what type of card it was again. The conversation continued with her being very "snippy". I told her there was no reason for her to be so sharp in her tone. She replied that she was trying to help me. I told her that I have been treated as if I was unwelcome since I entered the store and I would like to speak with a manger. She replied that she was the manager. I stated to her I would like to file a complaint so, I need to speak with her manager. She advised me that she was not able to give out her managers information and she would forward my complaint information to the regional manger. Long story summed up...she called me back the next day and provided me with the regional managers email address. I sent the complaint to the email that I verified back to her and it came back undeliverable. I also filed a complaint on the website on 12/10/20 and a follow up on 12/21/20 and GUESS WHAT? My husband, my son and I have been coming been coming here for years. And last night I brought my 88 year old mother there. We have always been treated very well by everyone at this lens crafters. They were extra special to my mom, and she actually enjoyed being there. Glasses are expensive no matter where we go. I don't think they are any more than four eyes or similar places. The doctors are terrific as well at Lens Crafters. I used to take my son to a pediatric eye doctor and they didn't have the patience the eye doctors here do. I especially find Dr Sonil (I think his name is) patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommend coming here. read more

I had to make the switch back to LensCrafters after my insurance no longer allowed me to be treated by my old doctor who I liked a lot. Fae the eye care adviser I worked with was awesome - she was really helpful, friendly and patient. Dr. Birgin was very nice and helpful as well. I was able to buy my contacts for the year right there and the manager who helped me was informative, professional and helped me save money of them with a rebate. I was pleased with the service and will be back. Also, since they have lots of times for an appointment since they are open during Hawthorn mall's hours. read more

Late summer 2017 we picked out frames for my college student. The glasses came in later than we had been told to expect them but not too much later and my daughter had them before she left for school. My daughter texted me a few weeks into the fall semester saying the frames are stretched out so when she was back home for a weekend we ran to LensCrafters to have the frames refitted. The person reciting her frames said 'The frame will probably break when I am trying to bend it, did you buy the warranty?' Nope, we didn't buy the warranty because she's been wearing glasses since 4th grade and has never lost or broken any. And now you're telling me I need a warranty because you sell poor quality frames? Luckily the frames didn't break! But then the design on the arms of the frame peeled off and the frames got all distorted again. We went back to LensCrafters and the person we worked with said 'the decoration comes off if you use hair product'. Well it also comes off if you don't it seems. Now the frames don't fit right and they look like they were pulled from a trash can. My kid had only been wearing them for about 2 months. When she came him for winter break we ran to LensCrafters and said we need to replace her frames. I was surprised at the positive response and the help selecting replacement frames. We made certain to ask about the quality of the frames we selected. They assured us the ones selected were going to be great. They told us the frames would be in in 7 Days. Fourteen days later, no sign of the replacement glasses and my kid has to go back to school (she had already given up on the garbage frames and was using her previous pair, which was a little different prescription). The store manager told us on Jan 6 that the glasses were on their way to the store. Of course they wouldn't arrive until after my kid was back at school but she had glasses she could use and so she went back to school without her new glasses. My kid called LensCrafters to see if the glasses had arrived. She was told that OOPS! Not only had they not arrived it turns out they were so late because 'Atlanta' (company headquarters) wrongly cancelled the order. So they had to re-order the glasses. Yesterday the glasses arrive at LensCrafters and my kid drives in from school to get them. As the person is fitting the glasses, she says 'be careful with these, we've seen a lot of them break' Maybe, LensCrafters, don't continue to sell low quality frames? Maybe, corporate LensCrafters, don't put the good people who represent you in your stores in the tough position of trying to overcome your unimpressive business decisions? There is only so much even the most caring person can do when the company he or she represents is so aggressively uninterested in the customer. Here's hoping the new frames don't break! And if you're shopping at LensCrafters: it was a pair of Burberry frames that stretched and peeled. We replaced them with a Tiffany design. read more

Some of the staff are great and the physician was awesome, however one employee Amanda was terrible. She didn't wipe down any of the machines I used and when I picked out my glasses she told me what to buy. When I presented what I wanted she told me "No". She cut me off when I tried to explain my insurance. I have been going to lens crafters for a very long time, but because of this one employee I will bring my business elsewhere. Hi, I had a very frustrating experience at this store. They have UNDER SKILLED and UNPROFESSIONAL staff. I have repeatedly got delayed service as well as very unprofessional attitude towards its customers. Below is what has recently happened: I was at this store to choose sunglasses for my prescription that is in records of this store. Because of my high prescription, the sales lady showed me a section from where I shall choose the frame, so that my "thick" lenses can fit into those frames. I chose a frame in 15 mins and they okayed that it shall work with my prescription. I was asked to wait in one of the booths. I waited in the booth for 35 patient minutes before being attended to. She asked for my insurance details and took my face measurements (by clicking a picture). She called her manager (I suppose) who then reviewed the measurements and okayed it but was concerned that this frame might not fit my prescription. She (the manager) asked the sales lady to confirm this with their lab. After another 10 mins of wait, I was told they can "TRY" to fit the lens to this frame but they are not "positive" that the lens will fit into the frame I had chosen. I was offered other frame choices to which I declined. How can I be confident that the new frames that she was proposing now will "work" when she didn't have a clue on the earlier frame for over an hour ago? I requested them to cancel my order and walked away. No "Sorry" was said to me. Their attitude appeared to be very casual as I walked out of the store. I felt like a fool and unwanted in that store. THIS IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT. Couldn't the staff tell this to me right at the beginning that the frame doesn't suit my prescription glasses? read more

Omg. Had been a customer here until today. Visited w full expectation of buying a pair of glasses for my daughter. Left w tail between my legs after confrontation w front desk. Other customers came up to me and communicated their displeasure and support. Went to costco, ordered glasses and was out of there in 30 minutes. Much cheaper and nicer people. Shocking. Btw ... My wife and I stopped in about a month ago when manager was there and she couldn't have been nicer. When the boss is out... This place is a train wreck. read more

Complete disregard for appointments. Don't bother taking them if you won't respect them, please. I had a 12:40 appointment. Was taken back for those quick, first set of tests that take all of 10 minutes at 1. Okay, 20 minutes...fine. Then I was left waiting again for another 20 minutes with no one checking in. After reaching the hour wait time, I went to the front desk to say I had been waiting an hour and had yet to see the doctor. One of the receptionists just stared at me. So...I just walked out. It's also likely that appointments scheduled over lunch time on a weekday by someone with insurance likely works and will need to return to said job to pay for your products. The least they could have done was provide me with some updates as I waited (and waited). Won't be coming back here! read more

I got my progressive glasses from here and it's ok. They got my prescription correct and everything works as expected. The prices are a bit high but that is to be expected. It is a pretty good experience to get glasses here. read more

I had an appointment, arrived early. Got my pre exam testing done within 10 minutes then waited and waited and waited. OVER 45 minutes. There were TONS of people waiting for exams. They overbook .... Bad service experience, also. Employees were unprofessional and short over the phone, repeatedly putting me on hold, then had different employees pick up and ask for the same information (which don't they already have if they're able to call me??). Had to tell them on three separate calls, not even including the day I ordered my glasses, that I had requested them to be shipped to my house when they were ready, as I live out of town. I had good experiences with other Lens Crafters locations, but take caution before going here. I made my appointment via phone and asked about insurance coverage. They said that we would review the info when I got to the office. When I arrived for my appointment I was rushed into the office. Again I asked about insurance coverage and was told we could take care of that later. I don't know why I was suprized when they said they could not accept my insurance. I felt like an idiot for falling for their passive handling of the situation. I should have insited on reviewing it ahead of time. When I talked the manager I got a pretty basic rude response - too bad for you its your responsibility to check. No discount, no acknowledgement of their lack of follow thru. Its too bad really, because I liked the optomotrist I worked with. read more

My glasses broke at the bridge almost exactly on year 3 after getting them. They would not look on the shelf nor in the computer to see if I could replace the frames as "frame styles change yearly". Additionally, as it had been 3 years, they deem the prescription too old. If I can see with my current prescription that's my call, theirs is to sell me the frames and lens. It is definitely a marketing ploy - I have to start all over with new prescription (therefore optometrist cost), new lens, new frames. Lots of fees that they want in their pocket - that falls under 'scam' in my book. read more

Extremely overpriced and quite rude. Stopped in to ask about a replacement lens for a pair of glasses I had bought there (the coating was peeling off). They would not sell one lens...told me I had to buy two. They wanted over $400. When I told her I was leaving she said "bye bye" in a very rude tone, as if to say "I couldn't care less". I ordered the lense online for around $60 (Seiko hi index lens). Will never go back. read more
