Can we say Unethical?  Their marketing is deceiving - almost bate & switch level.   My son lost his glasses and needed to replace them.  He goes back to college on Sunday so we needed them quickly.  Most places take 10 days so thought LensCrafters so we could get them the next day.     OK - Paid for the $138 eye exam and then went into the optical department.  On their website (lenscrafters.com/lc-us/g...) they have an offer for Frame + lenses starting at $99.   Great.  In case he finds his glasses this can be a backup.   I asked the associate where the frames in that range were.  I knew some can be stupid expensive.  I'd rather spend money elsewhere.  My son picked out a frame.  The associate started to ask questions about where they would be used and how.  So far, so good.   Then he tells us they would be $550.  I said that was too much and doesn't come close to their website.  I realize starting at can mean a lot but 5.5X.  seriously?   He said - that price was without prescription lenses - without batting an eye. Without a prescription?   Needless to say, I was a bit annoyed.  Went home and ordered his new glasses at eyebuydirect [dot] com for $70 with 2 day delivery.   Skip LensCrafters.  Shop online from now on. read more

I made an in store purchase of new frames and lenses on 8/15/2020 with a promised delivery within 2 weeks. I called the store to follow up on 8/29/2020 and spoke with an associate named Ryan. Ryan gave me 3 different answers in 3 sentences. He told me my ordered was shipped but not received and then not shipped. When I questioned him on the contradictions in his answers he became belligerent and testy and answered that the order was shipped and not received. No apology but an offer of a $50 credit when my order arrives. It seems that Ryan does not understand the basics of customer service. There was no need for his attitude. An explanation and not the standard of delay is due to COVID-19 and an apology would have been sufficient. The response and attitude were and are not appreciated. This is not my first purchase at this location but it may be my last as service here has deteriorated over the years. Initially I chose this location for the doctors and the fact that glasses were made on site. There is nothing like 1 hour service. The doctors are great but for a few years no onsite production and no staff with attitudes. With so many businesses competing for my patronage, why should I continue to use your services? read more

please do not visit this location for an eye exam!!!! the staff at this location is extremely rude and disrespectful. they keep on cancelling and rescheduling my contact lenses trial appointment without a valid reason. the manager never returns my call and every time i call i get placed on hold for long periods of time and no one has the decency to return my call. they have no regard for the valuable customer's time nor the fact that customers also have a job. at this point i will be asking for my money back and filing a complaint with the better business bureau if someone doesn't resolve my inquiry. please consider a different store for your contact lenses / glasses needs. read more

Been coming for many years. Love visiting with Dr. Meade. Hes courteous, supportive and a mensch.

This was an amazing experience in terms of my eye exam and Dr. Robert Meade's level of knowledge and amicability. The staff for exam intake was stellar. When getting my glasses, I will concede that my insurance benefits were never reviewed and prices of additional options not discussed. I shouldn't have to prompt for this information; it should be standard. I will continue to see Dr Meade for my exams, but I will be looking into alternatives for eyewear purchases. read more

I truly wish I could give them negative stars for customer service and misleading customers. I ordered prescription glasses a week ago, I was told by the "apprentice" and the optician that my glasses would be in by Tuesday (today) if not sooner. I call the store today to see if I could come and pick up my glasses only to be told that they haven't left the lab yet. The reason being was the lab is still waiting for the vendor to ship the frames! This is something Lens Crafters should have known prior to today and prior to me calling! They were eager to take my money but not eager to deliver the product! If I'm told I will be receiving I paid a good amount of money for by a certain day, I expect to have it by that day! I will NEVER again do business with this company! read more

I've been to this LensCrafters the past two years for my annual checkup and contact lens fitting, and I felt like they needed a review here because they are simply fantastic! The staff is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They take the time to explain everything to you. Whether it's about your vision, insurance coverage or billing. They make sure you understand fully. And they value your time by running very close to appt times. Highly recommended! read more

Awful! Called to check availability of a particular prescription frame and spoke to an older woman. She seemed very disinterested in helping and advised me that they don't know the style names of eyeglass frames and hurried me off the phone. Customer service was terrible. Hopefully they don't provide the same service in the store. read more

I can't even begin to express my disgust with this store. The store manager, Ryan Farmer, has terrible customer service skills. I have never been treated so poorly, especially by a manager. I purchased a pair of glasses back in February. I have never in my life hated a pair of glasses that I have purchased - I've been wearing glasses for 30 years. These frames are the worst frames I have ever worn. They will not stay adjusted, they constantly slide down my nose, hurt the back of my ears, fall off. I get them adjusted and a week later they're falling off my face again. When I expressed to Ryan that I want to return them for a refund he was straight up RUDE. He blamed me for the state my glasses are in. He said, "it's the way you're wearing them." What?!? For someone who has been wearing glasses for 90% of their life, I think I know how to wear them properly. Ryan went back and forth with me about giving me a refund. He said the best he could do was offer me store credit. I told him that I couldn't accept that, I don't want to shop at their store again, ever. He said that because I was out of the 30 day return period, that's all he could do. Um, hello? Pandemic ring a bell? I feel like I shouldn't have to be punished because the world is in the middle of a health crisis of biblical proportions. I kept my calm and I stated again that I just want what I paid for them back. He kept insisting that all he could do was give me a store credit. I kept expressing to him that I do not want to give my money to a corporation that has the gall to treat their customers in such a way to make them feel belittled and shamed for the way they supposedly wear their glasses. When I asked him what his general manager would say he told me that he would say the same thing. I don't believe that is the case. When a business is wrapped around customer service then you do what you can to satisfy your customer so that you can keep them as a life long customer. I did not get that feeling at all. Ryan's lack of empathy for my situation was appalling. I took my glasses back and I left. I will not be giving any LensCrafters my business ever again. read more

I found the staffs at both the optometrists office and LensCrafters very pleasent and easy to work with. While my appointment did start almost 40 minutes late, it did give me time to look over new frames. The doctor was also very pleasant and happy to answer any questions I had and gave an explenation of each test and what the results indicated. In all, a definite thumbs up. read more

Wow! Service is usually lacking at some chain establishments but not here. "Hatim" their optician was on site when I picked up my glasses and took incredible care to custom fit them perfectly. I was really impressed. I probably would have just taken them without thinking but with his expert eye and keen experience he adjusted my frames to fit me in a way they never would have otherwise. It was really awesome l. Never have I ever experienced such care and diligence. My family used to run a business dealing with retail clients and this is the sort of service my grandfather used to give our customers. I will definitely be back thanks to this gentleman's professionalism and expertise. 5 stars! read more

EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional technician, Jessie, did my pretesting eye exam before seeing the doctor. She was a miserable, non-friendly person who should not be working in this field. She yelled at me because I was not seeing the images on the display screen (which is obviously why I am there because I have trouble with my eyesight) and had to have the other technician finish the test for me due to her becoming so flustered to the point where she had to storm out of the room. I will NEVER return to this office solely because of her. Nor will I recommend anyone here because I would never want anyone to have to deal with being treated as poorly as Jessie treated me. This was an EXTREMELY POOR display of patient care and working in the medical business I know this is what is supposed to be MOST important to us health care employees. read more

I went to Lens Crafters in Rockaway for a new pair of glasses. Ryan the manager helped me with the purchase. When I went to pick them up I was not happy with Dennis the woman that helped me. She treated me like a child. I complained about the site and she told me that I needed to get use to them, which I knew, but wearing progressive lenses for years I knew something was wrong. I had my glasses checked where I had my eyes examined, sure enough the pd was wrong. I went back to Lens Crafters for them to have them fixed. I was told my new glasses would arrive in about 10 days. I called on the tenth day, to find out my glasses were in. I never received a text. The day I picked up my glass Jan. 22, I received a text. I was informed that my glasses arrived at the store on Jan 14, by Ryan the manager. It took over a week for them to text me to tell me my glasses were in. I would not recommend this store to anyone. read more

Okay, so I really like LensCrafters. I went to the Willowbrook location a few times but I live closer to Rockaway now. The staff is friendly and up front about the fees/services. I go for contact lenses and I've paid up the wazoo at other places for less thorough examinations. The doctor here was really nice and I am very happy with my prescription. They don't try to up-sell or cross-sell their other services; they give you prescriptions without you even asking for them. read more

Dr. Meade is one of the best optometrist out there. He is an expert in his field, has a wonderful bedside manner, and clearly explains everything to help the patient understand their eye health. read more

I had always had my prescription glasses made here, and never had a problem until recently. I brought in my prescription, my glasses were made and I was good to go. I had them only a few days when I began to realize that they constantly smudged. I used THEIR cleaning tissues, but I found myself cleaning them a half dozen times a day at least. I was very frustrated, so I went back because they have a good return policy. I explained the situation and was basically told, well, yeah, you didn't get the extra protection/coating as was offered (as if it were my fault that I couldn't see through them.) I figured if I had already spent over $300 (half-price sale), I should be able to see without having to spend more money. I was also informed that I was not cleaning them properly--one is supposed to rinse them in water (never heard that one before), use their cleaning solution and finally their lens towels. I guess that means I have to be near running water 24/7? The employee was agitated and not nice. Long story short, they gave me the extra coating for free. I knew if that did not happen, I would never return to LensCrafters again. Because I felt they had worked with me in good faith, I purchased a pair of sunglasses as well. They are great! My regular glasses, however, still smudge all the time and I don't know why. It's very disappointing; the whole incident left me feeling less than fuzzy. I will try to avoid getting more glasses there, but the convenience in having them within an hour or so may eventually outweigh the experience. The other salespeople and staff are very pleasant and helpful. read more
