This morning as I was preparing breakfast at home, my husband decided to assist me in our "One Okole (butt)" kitchen. I asked him to pull out and pass to me some fruits and vegetables out from the lower bin in the refrigerator. He agreed and started to do so however, as he passed the last item to me he stood and knocked his glasses off his face. The freezer door had "gotten in his way". Fortunately, the handsome Persol frames and prescription lenses were not damaged. However, when my husband put his glasses back on, they sat crookedly on his face and didn't fit "right". We coincidentally had an appointment at Kahala Mall and rushed over to this location of LensCrafters. Mind you, there's only 3 more days to Christmas and the mall was packed! It took us about a half an hour to find a parking space. When we entered the store, we were greeted immediately. One female employee, sorry, I didn't get her name, approached to assist us. My husband asked her to adjust his glasses as they weren't fitting well and he wasn't seeing clearly through one of the lenses. She got out her handy pliers and did a couple of pulls and twists on the nose pads then allowed my husband to try them on. She had gotten them to fit correctly with just ONE attempt! She then offered to clean the glasses with their cleaning solution. Wow! It's true... LensCrafters offers great service to adjust and clean eyewear for free. LensCrafters in Kahala Mall has a very helpful and friendly staff. I haven't bought glasses there in years but stopped by last night to possibly have some other glasses adjusted. Despite several real customers in the store, I was helped immediately. After bashfully explaining the situation, the nice young woman sat me down and very professionally proceeded to adjust three pairs of glasses for me that weren't even purchased at LensCrafters. There was no fee and the nice gal would not accept a tip. I hope for LensCrafters, their other locations are awesome also. read more

I finally bought prescription glasses. So my first pair had to be cool. I chose LensCrafters for the convenience. The Kahala location is convenient, lots of rooftop parking and a great selection. Lance was a superb advisor since I had no experience with choosing prescription glasses. I felt treated well and that I got a good value for my dollar. I came on a Sunday afternoon and the store was really quiet. Wilson greeted my friend and I and asked what he could help with. I took out my pair of crooked Oakley sunglasses and he put his magic touches on it. In about 5 minutes or so, my pair of Oakleys were back in good condition. My friend also had a pair of sunglasses that were in worse condition than mine. She sat on her sun glasses. Wilson said he might not be able to fix but he would try. He took it into the lab and in about 15 minutes he came out and my friend's sunglasses were wearable again. She was happy cause she didn't have to drop another $200+ to buy a new pair. I highly recommend coming to this location during the weekends if your glasses need to be adjusted or repaired. Ask for Wilson, he's super friendly and he'll answer all your questions. read more

I was in and out pretty quickly. The optometrist did a thorough job and helped me get the right prescription. It wasn't the strength he expected, but it works. They have a wide variety of frames. Warning: Do not go to Kahala LensCrafters if you expect good service. The optometrist office there is actually very good. Doctors Iida and Kanemoto are very professional and friendly. Unfortunately, their patients are most likely going to try to buy glasses from the LensCrafters storefront. This is probably one of the worst LensCrafters locations for service. The Ala Moana store may be more busy but their attention to customer service is way superior. I had a pair of frames that I purchased from this same LensCrafters store upgraded for a new prescription. The sales associate said it would take 9 calendar days - which seems like a long time to begin with since LensCrafters used to be known for one-hour service. It may not be reasonable to expect same day service, but the problem is that they don't even bother to call or text if they are not able to meet a promise date. I went in a few days after the promise date and the glasses still weren't ready and the staff would not even bother with a reason for the delay or provide any assurance for a finished delivery date. LensCrafters is not cheaper than going to a independent optometrist office for glasses. Now, apparently they are not even speedier. I even purchased one of the more expensive lenses they offer, and yet the attention of customer notification is so very lacking. This store has also downsized their frames inventory, so selection is not all that great to begin with. From my experience, spare yourself the frustration of patronizing this store. While I will be back to see Dr. Iida, I'll be taking my prescription business elsewhere. read more

Challenging times but they delivered. After my annual exam with Dr. Lida, I was able to work with Christian & another associate on a couple pairs of glasses. Currently, for crowd control per CDC guidelines. There is a sign at the door letting you know should they be at full capacity or not. They'll let you in or have you wait just outside the door. You are handed a tray, all frames that you've tried on can be placed in tray. They sanitize all frames before they put them back on display. Christian was genuine & knowledgeable. It's really hard to get an accurate view of what the frames really look like on your face with a mask on. The ones I had chosen did look pretty cute. I figure I'll be wearing a mask with my new glasses for a while, so I guess I chose right. I was quoted the usual two weeks, for pick up of my new glasses. I usually get a call within that time period some times it does get delayed. The results are always worth it. That is why I always come back. read more

Lens Crafters always has great customer service and are very fast, but delivers quality. The reason I am only giving them three stars is because of their prices and selections. I have really bad eyes, thus, whenever I am getting new glasses, only a handful of frames at Lens Crafters are available to me because most of them cannot handle the weight/thickness of my lens. Also, once I FINALLY find frames that can handle my lenses, they're really expensive. Add in the price for the lenses, which, I HAVE to get the most expensive ones, and I'm spending about $600 for a pair of glasses. read more

I recently broke an expensive pair of glasses - bent hing & frame; popped out lens etc. I brought them to LensCrafters to see if they could be repaired. I fell asleep due to sleep deprivation and when I woke up I found myself leaning with my weight on my glasses. Oh no! Right? well, sort of... I immediately went to Yelp to find a solution. Of course I love the filter that says open now because that help me find places around the area that could have done the job and alerted me of places that were already closed. Being that I hadn't been to the Kahala Mall in a while I gave the LensCrafters location within the mall a call. On the other end of the line was a gentleman named Will. I explained my situation and he told me to come on in and that they should be able to fix my glasses without a problem. I'll keep in mind I have to be on watch in an engine room missile tracker at midnight for a 12 hour shift. So I jumped in my rental car and headed over to the Kahala Mall. When I got there I was assisted by David and Alexa. Their level of professionalism was second to none. Defining this is the fact that I gave 5 stars on a single visit. This very rarely happens. I would recommend this location to others and I actually would like to return here to get my next pair glasses. THE ISSUES As it turns out my glasses do not have rims on the bottom and are held together by what looks like fishing line. The problem was the line in my lens fell out. I dropped off my glasses off and within 15 minutes they had completed the repair. This included replacing the nose pads, tighten the screws, and replacing the nylon cord. Wow. I was planning to do a full tour of the mall but I'd only gotten to the store across the way when my phone rang and they told me that my repair was complete. Totally elapsed time could have been more than 15 minutes. Wow! Again. Thank you LensCrafters now I can go to watch in the engine room at midnight and actually see. read more

Bought a pair of prescription Oakley sunglasses for $500. The nose piece came off 3 times. Took them to Kahala twice and Pearlridge once. Rather the replace the broken nose piece, they just got it to stay on for awhile and eventually fell off again. I paid $500 for a good pair of shades and when there is a defect, I think the way they handled it was cheap, unprofessional and shows they don't care about their customers. Of course the sales part they kiss okole but after the sale, you become a waste of time. I have gotten compliments about my shades but turned them away from LensCrafters due to the customer service after the sale. They consistently send me cards to return my business. Not happening. I was in the need of new glasses due to my dog destroying my other pair.. I was looking for a place that I would be able to get new ones by the same day and came across them. I saw the reviews and they were good. So I decided to go there myself and check it out. Upon arrival I was helped immediately by Lance, they have a wide selection of glasses and brand ones, so of course it was going to take me a while to decide on which ones I wanted and splurge my money on. Lance gave me suggestions on what would be more comfortable and suit me. I finally decided on a pair, he adjusted the nose pads and glasses to make it more comfortable for me since it was going to be everyday wear. It was said to take an hour for my new glasses to be done but it took only about 30 minutes until I got the text that they were ready! yay! Tried them on and immediately I could see again lol. Thank you LensCrafters! You're a lifesaver. Price wise, was understandable, but I did get 40% off on lens which was pretty nice (for my wallet) lmfao. I walked into Lens Crafter's Kahala and I was immediately greeted by a customer service rep. He was attentive and even chose glasses that suited my taste. I would have to say this is the BEST LENS CRAFTER on the island. There is a lot more selection on the latest brands, and very knowledgeable sale associates. They even have this cool new gadget that measures the exact measurement of your new pair of glasses to your pupils. Supposedly this is the only eyeglass store that has this new techy gadget. AWESOMENESS! Thank you Wilson Lei for being such a great customer service rep! (People ask for this guy he knows his stuff) He was funny, witty and straight, forward about my glasses selections. You can just tell him the type of glasses you prefer and he will immediately start pulling out glasses from left and right. I didn't even have to browse at all. He took the time out to critique every single pair I tried on. I ended going home with the one he chose. I was on a time crunch, but due to his speedy service I was out of there in 30 minutes, no BS. If I could leave no stars I would. I was a patient (up until last week) of Dr. Kathy Ida who's office is in Lens Crafters Kahala Mall. The type of insurance that I have I was unable to get an exam until a few months out. I was down to my last pair of contacts, and being as though my prescription was expired, I was unable to purchase contacts or use my prescription to get glasses (office said its against the law and a liability to the doctor to use an expired prescription). Basically I was shit out of luck. EIther wait to see until September or pay $200+ out of pocket, during COVID nonetheless. So naturally, thinking fast I called my insurance company (for a loophole) to which they suggested that I may be able to qualify if the doctor will send in a "pre-certification" explaining that I am in need of the exam because I need vision correction in order to see. But Kathy Ida REFUSED to do that and instead allowed me to PURCHASE 1 pair of 1 MONTH eye contact lenses (even though its illegal right?) as "the best" she could do. Being nice and gentle is all well and good, but what counts is how far the doctor's concern goes when an inconvenience arises for the need of their patients. And apparently, the inconvenience was too grand for Kathy to do a pre-certification which I'm sure her receptionist would draft up. So again, thinking fast I called my previous doctor that I haven't seen since 2016 and guess what?? THEY WILL DO THE PRE-CERT FOR ME. This review only goes to show the lack of care Kathy has for any of her patients in dire need. She refused to submit a pre-cert yet sold me a pair of contacts that only lasts 1 month as the "best she could do" although, sidebar--and whispered by her receptionist that "selling me a pair is illegal and a liability." Why not just send in the pre-certification then? This is why I do not recommend KATHY IDA or her services. She rather commit an illegal act and possible liability just to avoid an inconvenience. Oh, okay. Entrust the healthcare of your eyes (and money) to someone who genuinely cares about the vision of their patients. Someone like Dr. Wong at the HONOLULU EYE CLINIC‐‐ who again had NO PROBLEM and a great willingness to submit the pre-certification right away so I don't have to wear a pair of 1 month contacts until September like KATHY IDA would've had me do. 2 thumbs down to Kathy Ida and 5 STARS to The HONOLULU EYE CLINIC on a lens crafter review. read more

They make everything seem possible. You pay. Things you paid for = not possible. We went into the store because my husband wanted to get his reading glasses quickly. He waited two weeks for an appointment at Costco for the eye exam but couldn't find any nice frames there. They also told him that he would have to wait two weeks for his new glasses so I suggested Lens Crafters. They are expensive, but you can get your frames in one hour. The staff at Lens Crafters looked at his prescription and said that everything he wanted (anti-reflection, UV protection, that kind of stuff) was possible with 1 hour service. He chose frames that were in stock. Awesome. Up to here, all going well. They measured his face for his frames and we paid and left to wait the hour it was supposed to take to have the prescription frames fabricated with his lens. While shopping in Whole Foods, killing time, we got a call from the sales clerk telling us that the anti-reflection was not possible for the frames we chose. My husband was going to have to wait 10 days while they sent the job out. Wait a minute. WHAT? We simply do not understand why they don't know this ahead of time. They should know their stock and what they can and cannot do in an hour. There is a big difference between 1 hour and 10 days! We returned to the store, angry, and got a refund. We may not find the frames for less and it may take even more time to get them but paying Lens Crafters for the frames after this just didn't sit right with us, so we will go somewhere else. Lens Crafters has a pretty good selection. But so do other places. If you cannot get the frames in an hour, I don't think there is any reason to go here. read more

Went to the kahala mall store And noticed a world of service difference from the Ala Moana one. Walking into the Ala Moana one, no one acknowledged us until about 15 minutes of looking around. Then when asked if they had new frames of the display, I was told there was only the display And there was no other ones, they were all out. The sales person said that without even looking or anything around for it. So my wife and I decided not to buy from there. Now on to the kahala store, as soon as I stepped in I was greeted by James, very friendly and helpful. Since I noticed his name tag saying general.manager I asked him about the styles and of they had more stock or newer ones if We didn't want to purchase the display ones. Hos explaination was 100 time better than the girl at the Ala Moana store. He said, "usually what's out is what's out. Let me see if we have that style in another area of the store or in our back stock. And if we need to order it the fastest will be 3-5 days to get it in or if we need to order from the manufacturer directly it could take up to 3-4 weeks." Now that is service. I don't expect that girl at Ala Moana to say what the general manager said but at least help me out in looking around. The general manager was looking around trying to find the right frame for me. We are definitely going to buy our glasses from kahala mall and not the Ala Moana store. Great job James!!!!! A+++++ Ala Moana you need to retrain your staff on customer service. When compared to the other branches, the Kahala branch of Lenscrafters, to put it simply...rocks. I'm in and out of lenscrafters quite often because I do some of the contact lens testing w/ Dr. Lau & staff (who is always a pleasure to visit) and because I have an awesome tendency to fall asleep while wearing my already fragile enough glasses. On the optometry side, Dr. Lau is always very nice, even when he's obviously super busy and running around. He doesn't give you that feeling that you're being rushed out or that he's doing any less of a good job because he's hurrying. The staff there is always friendly & helpful as well. Glad to see they did take down the cup of ramen they had on the shelf for over a year or so though! lol The glasses/repair side has been the best out of all the branches i've been to so far. The Pearlridge branch fixed my glasses incorrectly last time, leaving a bit sticking out, which was annoying, but they fixed it at Kahala really quickly. They're also all very nice & friendly as well, so i'm always more than happy to go in there. Yeah. Happy to go into Lenscrafters. That's either sad on my part, or a really good job on theirs so...for the sake of my ego, i'm going to just go with them doing a great job. I'd definitely drive from Pearl City, past all the other branches along the way to go to the Kahala one if I really needed something like a checkup or new glasses, no doubt. Note: I believe they're moving inside the mall soon, so that'd be even nicer...no weird parking lot location! read more

Had the best service I've ever had at an optometrist here. I lost my glasses on vacation and had to get a prescription and new glasses ASAP. They do have a one-hour service for lenses but their machine was broken so I ended up getting contacts instead. Everyone was so friendly and understanding and super patient. Shoutout to Dr. Kamemoto, Alexa, Eric and the store manager (sorry I forgot your name) for helping me out and getting my vision sorted out so I could enjoy the rest of my trip and get back home safely! My experience with Dr, Kamemoto and her staff could not have been better. Ultra pleasant and professional yet down to earth and personable. As a new patient, the on-boarding process was seamless, everything was explained from insurance coverage, eye exam, my prescription, my astigmatism and different options for contact lenses. I've bought three pairs of glasses from this Lenscrafters over the years, and have never had any problems. It's a pretty standard process - pick out the frames you like, go through the computer processing, and pick them up in an hour! I've never enlisted the employees' help in actually selecting a pair, but as far as the paperwork/computer process goes, they've always been friendly and doing their best to get you the best discount. 30% discount for AAA members. read more

Love the location as it's conveniently located in Kahala Mall across from Kuru Kuru. They are open later than typical optometrist offices so I can go after work. Easy to make appointments online or by calling in. Elisa at the front desk is very nice and helpful. I love Dr. Jodi Kanemoto but all the Dr.'s are very nice also as I have seen them when she was not available. I come here for my eye exam and contact lens fitting annually. I kept getting asked to leave the glasses that I touch in a bin twice on 2 separate occasions which I really don't mind but on the 2 separate occasions there was another person next to me who the salesperson did not correct. I suspect they were "targeting" or discriminating against me! I find it completely offensive! read more

Went to this place because one of my eyes had changed and my current prescription of contacts no longer helped me. The eye doctor changed both of my contacts, she actually made one eye better and the other eye worse (she gave me the wrong prescription, she improved one eye and made the other worse). Two weeks passed and no one called me to say my trial pair of contacts arrived. I had to show up one day and ask about them. The excuse was that "they called the wrong person". Several days later I called to just ask that I just wanted to order a new pair of contacts.. again, no one called me to tell me when they arrived. I had to show up angry and asking about my contacts (because no one answers the phone when you call). I finally picked up my prescription and realized the eye doctor corrected one eye and made the other worse. I returned them. I still have yet to receive the right pair of contacts or a call about them. Come on. read more

Stopped in one Sunday afternoon on way to a Meeting. Suggested by my brother to stop in to Lens Crafters to have the screws in my frames fixed..new ones installed. Tina the manager was very helpful. She fixed my eye glasses in a few minutes. Appreciated that very much. I came back few days later asked Tina about changing the frames of my old glasses that one plastic frame with no bridge adjusments..glass frames. She suggested I get an eye exam first, since it had been several years since I had one. Happy to say, Tina asked the in office Eye Doctor, and they said they could see me in 20 minutes ! Within two visits I saw a better picture of the condition of my eyes and how to be mindful to take care of it. Within a few business days , to my surprise my new glasses were ready. I was so happy, My vision vastly improved. I paid the amount for a backup glasses using my old good frames from previous prescription. Very happy with Tina and Lance's help. Plus the eye exam by Dr. Kamemoto and Melanie, Eric and crew. The employees very down to earth , kind, neighborly, real aloha spirit, helped me a lot, Great staff, Tina ,Dr. Kamemoto, Melanie, Eric , Lance and the whole staff. I took my 83 year old uncle to Kahala Mall LensCrafters. He had a fall and bent his frames. We didn't know what to expect. He might have to buy new Frames/lenses or what. We were met by Eric. He was super nice. He did not push us to buy anything. Eric took the glasses and simply fixed the frames at no cost. He was as nice as could be.
