Dr. Louis Espejo is absolutely wonderful- I have never left a review for an optometrist before, but was so blown away by him that I felt like I had to leave him a 5 star review. For background, I have terrible astigmatism and traditionally have a difficult time finding perfect glasses and contact prescriptions. Prior to coming to this LensCrafters, I had received a trial pair of contacts and was in need of ordering my yearly supply. He was very thorough, going over my exam and allowing me time to take pictures of the results that are typically unavailable to patients. I appreciated the time he spent making sure my vision would be crystal clear, requiring some changes to my previous prescription. After mentioning that my eyes stay dry, he also suggested several NIH/ research based solutions for my problems. We also had a brief but nice conversation about health care/ health care disparities. I really was thrilled with the care he provided to me, and I will be very sad to move back to South Carolina in a few months and miss out on being a regular patient of his. He knows his stuff and seems passionate about what he does! The store was also clean, had a large variety of glasses options, and was very COVID friendly (everyone in masks, walking directions marked). Went there yesterday for an eye exam and then stopped by the sales to purchase new glasses. The sales person was not completely honest with me and tried to upsell a higher-priced product that would've cost me 2x the amount. I would go through the website if you know what frames you want. read more

I went to Lenscrafters to get a perscription for sunglasses. I wanted to get progressives. After an appointment with their in-house eye Dr, which I paid $49 for, I got a new perscription. I then ordered the glasses. When I went to pick them up, I put them on and walked around town for about 30 minutes. I was dizzy and unless I looked straight ahead, everything was blurry. I went back to tell them about my experience. The assistant manager said that it was the type" of progressives I got. I had no idea there were different types, and told her that the salesman never mentioned it. She showed me on her ipad, the different types available and apparently I was sold the type with the least amount of area in the lens that is not fuzzy. If I turned my head even a little, everything was out of focus. She then said she could sell me lenses with a wider range of vision for an additional $250!!! I complained that the salesman should have told me this in the first place and that now I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. She spoke with the manager who came out of his office to tell me he would deduct $100 off the price BUT that I could not come back if there were any issues with the lenses. I was going to have to forgo their 30 day guarantee because their employee sold me the wrong lenses and I would have spent over $600!! I told them I wanted a refund and their business practices were horrible and that I'd never return. There are too many honest eye glass stores around. I feel angry and I wasted time with these second rate people. read more

Came by for an eye exam + a pair of glasses since I've been avoiding this since Covid started. The eye exam was super painless and I was in and out in fifteen minutes. The girl who did the eye puff test actually got it done with the first two puffs which is a new world record for me. I'm usually blinking so much I'm stuck at that part for ten minutes. I worked with Angelo on the LensCrafters side to pick out some glasses and he was super helpful. He explained all the promotions they were running and helped me pick out the perfect pair. I've never seen so much attention to detail. I enjoyed the service so much I ended up buying a pair of Ray Ban prescription sunglasses too. He was utterly meticulous with adjustments and measurements and wanted to make sure they sat perfectly on my face. When I returned to pick up my glasses I called ahead of time just to make sure he was there. He didn't let me leave until everything looked and felt right. 100% will buy from him again. read more

You get a 15 minute exam based on a computerized Reading Of you eye, this was the second time I've had a prescription based on the computer reading , and both times some thing was missing, the Perscription was off. I could not adapt to the bifocal prescription and went back to reading glasses only. I would like to bypass the computer reading in the future. Everything else was completely efficient except for checking the insurance for my wife, she had to pay full price. read more

Okay, I want to be fair with this review. The doctor is a different entity than the rest of the store/employees so it is only fair to break it down. The receptionist at the Rockville location was very rude so I'm glad they didn't have any appointments and referred me to the Bethesda Location. Dr. Espejo was nice, fast and seemed knowledgeable at first. After 5 minutes or so, I realized he wasn't really listening to me lol I would start saying something and he would cut me off with "yeah yeah I know because blah blah" and at one point he said "I get it, you seem so frustrated" and I wanted to be like yes because you won't let me finish speaking lol Nonetheless, he did what I came for. Well, not quite. He's the 3rd eye doctor who hasn't been able to get my prescription any better but it was fine because he did recommend a different contact brand that doesn't dry out as much as the one I'd been wearing. The sales department who helped with my glasses were great. One guy in particular, Ronnie, was very kind and patient in helping me get the right glasses and setting up the order. So far so good! I bought 2 pairs. 1 Tiffany's and 1 Armani. I like the Tiffany's pair much better than the Armani's but it's nice to have the different option. read more

This is a joint floor space with LensCrafters on one side and Dr. Louis Espejo on the other side. As far as my understanding, they are technically separate businesses although typically people get their exams and scripts written at Dr. Espejo's and then walk into the next room to purchase glasses from LensCrafters. I would highly recommend Dr. Espejo, as he does a very good job at thoroughly explaining the entire process and results in a comprehensible manner. He is very intelligent, kind and makes me feel comfortable whenever I go in. 5 stars for him. The LensCrafters on the other hand is a completely mismanaged dump. Every time I have gone there after my eye appointment, I typically wait up to an hour just to have my questions answered. There are staff there that just float around asking if you've been helped but neglect to try to help when you say no. They could not pull up my correct insurance even after providing all my info and insisted that they were correct. They are very snobby, which makes sense as they are tailored to high-end frames, so don't expect any affordable options. Working with Rosanna was a nightmare, although Faith was helpful. 0 stars for them. All in all, I would definitely recommend Dr. Espejo, and then after the appointment, take your script to any other minimally functioning business that can properly work with you. read more

WORST OPTOMETRIST EVER!! Doc. Espejo is an absolute scam! I don't have anything good to say about him. I have ambliopia (less vision from my left eye), and needed a vision screening form for the DMV, he was telling all the time that he will get into "trouble" if he passed me. He said that because of my "lazy eye" he wouldn't authorize me. Having a professional calling your ambliopia "lazy eye" is a very derogatory term with someone with this disorder, is like an insult almost. I was distressed and after I left his office, and I went to a wonderful optometrist that examined my vision and authorized the form right away. The service here was bad and the glasses they sold me were defective. The woman who helped me kept insisting that my prescription was too high for almost any pair of glasses in the store. It is true that I have a high prescription, but believe me, I have never had any problem, finding a pair that fit in the past. She kept repeating over and over again, but I have a very high prescription. It was obnoxious already. I have been wearing glasses since about 1985 and while my prescription has gotten stronger overtime, I never had an issue finding a pair of glasses to my lighting. She steered me towards the biggest nerdiest pair of glasses in the store. I acquiesced in it and ordered them. She assured me that I was ordering the highest index lens so that my strong prescription would not look ridiculous, but when the glasses came back, they were, the biggest Coke bottles you have ever seen, and the frame was way too large to fit any human face. And she could not adjust them. Again, she blamed me for having a high prescription, which was ridiculous. Later I ordered glasses online. They were normal wire frames. No problems whatsoever. I do not know what is wrong with this LensCrafters, but I will not be going back. read more

There is one employee that I was really irked about, but otherwise my overall experience was great! I wanted to write a review because I was so impressed with Dr. Louis Espejo. The technology they used seem very up to date (the iPad controls the machines!! Or perhaps I've just been living under a rock). Dr. Espejo took the time to explain my eye exam results and have resources to help with my eyesight. He was incredibly polite, gracious, and knowledgeable. The receptionist was also very kind and made sure I knew my benefits. And one of the employees was pretty awesome and while he didn't help me today, I heard him helping another customer and he was very friendly and helpful. The store is following covid procedures and makes sure that all eyewear that are tried on are cleaned right after. There was just one part of the exam where I had to remove my mask very briefly to avoid fogging up the lenses. What drove me out of the store much sooner than I expected (I was planning to buy glasses), was that one employee wasn't wearing their mask. I'm guessing it was because the employee was on the phone while the employee was working and talking to someone, so the employee wanted to be heard. But the employee wore the mask draped over the chin, not covering the mouth and nose. And the employee was walking around the store putting items back, like that. I felt super uncomfortable in the store and after a minute or 2, and walked straight out. I almost feel uncomfortable posting this too...but I decided not to come back anyways and that it was worth putting in a review that'll I'll still give 5 stars for. I went here because other eye glass places nearby had poor ratings The eye doctor Dr Espejo was great. No complaints about him, fast but thoroughly explained everything. The remainder of staff was horrible, just poor customer service, poor greeting, just overall not welcoming. Both staff members spoke to all customers with terrible tone and abruptly. Couldn't get a basic answer to how much to replace lens and after going through changes, I was finally quoted 300$ to replace lens of old glasses with new prescription. Nothing spectacular about my new prescription they were single lens, low adjustment. Needless to say I got my prescription with no other services. read more

This review is for Dr. Louis Espejo's services. I went to get fitted for contact lenses. This Lenscrafters location is new and close to me. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient with checking me in. I was seen quickly by Dr. Espejo. He was patient and thorough with his eye exam and providing tips to help managing eye irritation. The practice had state of the art equipment. While I didn't go with the higher priced contact lenses recommended, I was happy there was an affordable priced lenses available. I was happy with my service. read more

This was my first and last visit to this store. The manager Christian bowman was terrible. I guess they were short staffed and he had to do more work than what he is normally required to do. I had a lot of questions and he was short and impatient with me and totally unhelpful. That led to my time being wasted and no purchase. If he is supposed to demonstrate the high standards of this store he totally failed. Thanks to him I've completely written off this store. I suggest people go to another Lens Crafter or Warby Parker where you are treated like a human being wanting to buy eyeglasses. read more

0/5 would not recommend even to my worst enemy. I planned on coming into the LensCrafters Bethesda store and walking out with a fresh new pair of Persol, Tom Ford, or Burberry eyeglasses for myself. Instead I left empty handed with the only positive interaction being with the security officer on site letting us use the main entrance door (apparently out of order) with ramp to exit for my sons stroller. Upon arrival of what appears to be a premium level store (high end brands), two employees were behind the sales counter and another with clients getting fitted at a table. Initially we never received any greeting to the store (first ding if I was a secret shopper) and yet any interaction with any employee throughout the entire 25-30 minutes in store. During the solo shopping experience, I grabbed multiple frames to try on, cleaning cloths to wipe off smudges and oils, and even went across the store to grab myself a tray so I can hold the multiple frames I was interested in. Even after covering almost every square inch of the store, I never got any assistance to complete the sale and transaction. I decided well if they're not willing to give me their time than I am not willing to give them my money so I put all the frames back where they belonged (didn't have to) and my family and I left. Only then while walking out we were finally acknowledged by the gentleman who was with clients and now behind the counter (the other two now gone) to say "are you guys finding everything ok". JESUS! Regional Manager give these guys free glasses certificates for the WORST Luxottica customer service experience! read more
