So here's the scoop--several years ago we had another company come out and replace our pipes in our old house. They did a good job but when I asked them about some follow up work, most notably the stack drain in our home (which was beginning to rust where it takes an 90 degree turn) the guy who did the work (not the initial guy we worked with over there) quoted us a really high number for the repair and basically instilled the fear of God in us re: the job (e.g, it's going to go any minute now, it's going to take tearing apart your kitchen to get to this stack, it's going to cost a scary amount of money, etc). Needless to say, as first time homeowners my husband and I were pretty terrified and didn't have the money or the energy to deal with demos, renovations of our kitchen, etc. So we did what any normal person would do in this scenario--we ignored it! And so we basically pretended the problem didn't exist for 2.5 years, all the while holding our breath that this thing was going to leak at any moment. Finally, I got so nervous about this that I decided to be brave and get a second opinion so I sent the awesome folks at Lenox a message here through Yelp (via the new "get a quote" function. Try it, it's awesome!) to just see what they had to say and through messages we set up a time today for them to come by and take a look. I'm SO glad we did this. Chris came promptly at 1pm (we were given a window of 1-3pm) and took a look. And praise be, he told us the problem was not that bad and we had several more years in it before we really need to do it (the complete opposite of the other guy who was trying to get us to commit to a multi thousand dollar job in a matter of months). He told us he'd recommend that we wait a bit longer and replace it when we plan on doing some other home renovations (which we've been talking about doing in the next few years anyway). He said they'd be happy to do it for us if we wanted but it wasn't really necessary yet so why rush it and do demo twice if we don't need to. Basically he really put our fears at ease and gave us a more workable timeline, which made is so much less stressed about it. What I really loved, though, was how complimentary he was about our house and how he didn't seem phased by the job itself. We've had so many contractors, plumbers, etc, give us a hard time re: our nearly century old home and complain about how much extra work these types of jobs are. The previous plumber who did the pipe replacement just moaned the entire time about the job (I'm beginning to think he didn't want to do the job which was why he made it sound so terrible). Not Chris, he loved the character within our home and seemed really supportive of making sure we do it the right way to keep the integrity of the home intact. So so grateful! So we've decided to hold off on that job for a bit longer. But in the meantime I did ask him about a leaky faucet we have in the basement bathroom sink. He took a look and is going to email me a few quotes with two options: replacing the faucet altogether and just repairing it. We'll have them come out soon to work on it and I'll update the review once this is done but I have full confidence they'll do a great job. read more

I was having trouble installing my bidet in our new house as it was leaking everywhere. I took the bidet off and hooked up the toilet normally in the meantime. They were able to get me an appointment very quickly, which i did appreciate. When the plumber arrived I explained my problem, and he told me that the toilet fill valve that I had just installed was damaged and that I needed to install a new one to get the bidet attached correctly. He quoted me around 150$ (i think i remember 158?). While he was working I was busy in the kitchen. It was an easy job (I had just done it the day before) and I was not worried about it. The price seemed high to me, but honestly I was just so frustrated with my renovations that I agreed. When he was "done" he came back and told me that he had replaced the fill valve and the water hose, but he was missing a rubber washer to install the bidet so he didn't do it, and just put the toilet back together. He "offered" to buy the washer and come back, but said that I would have to pay at his regular rate for the time it took him to shop and come back! I was so defeated and frustrated. Why didn't he stop the work when he realized he was missing a key component and let me know that he was not going to be able to complete the work I had agreed to pay him for? On top of that, he then charged me over $180. My toilet works exactly the same as it did before he came (the fill valve although perhaps truly damaged was not leaking or causing any problems!), and my bidet is still not hooked up. I Was quoted 1k for a job and when they got done the job was 3600, the guys left dust all over my things in the basement and upstairs. They could have at least ask me did I want to cover my stuff because there was going to be a lot of dust everywhere. We have had a few plumbing issues in the last couple years and have haphazardly called repair people without a good recommendation. This resulted in future issues. This time, we actually consulted the YELP reviews and contacted Lenox. Chris, a plumber with Lenox, came out the next day. When Chris arrived, he was immediately polite and professional. He kindly asked what the problem was and took a look. He diagnosed the issue right away and gave us a couple options on repairs and the associated costs. He started to fix the problem and it didn't take him long. He cleaned up the area as well. Chris did a great job! He assessed what would need to be done down the road and why, gave us an estimate as well. I would highly recommend Chris and Lenox for your plumbing repairs. My best advice is to go elsewhere. My wife and I have been jerked around by this company for two weeks now. Two weeks ago our main drain started backing up when we did laundry. We called Lenox, the came out and snaked it two days later and told us it was all good. 3 or 4 days after that, I'm doing laundry again for the first time and it immediately backs up again. So, they should come out and fix it for free right? Good luck. I called them four times that day and every time they told me they would call me "right back" then never did. Finally I got some guy "Chris" on the phone this morning and he said he would have someone out between 3 and 5 today. At 4 I got a voicemail from "Wesley" saying he needed to reschedule and to call him back. Which I have done. Every ten minutes for the last hour. No answer. It's bad enough they told us the fixed something when they didn't. But beiing jerked around for a week when all we want is them to come out and do the work they already said they did, makes it incredibly frustrating. Stay away from Lenox read more

We called Lenox Plumbing because we had a drip with our bathtub facet. At the time of the call we decided to also replace the kitchen facet and scheduled an appointment to fix the leak and replace the kitchen facet. Brian, an employee, came out and replaced the kitchen facet (cost just under $500) and told us that he had never seen our bathtub facet/handles before and was not sure who the manufacture was so he would need to do some research on it. Over the next month and half when we would call about the bathtub facet/handles we were told that he still could not locate who made the facet. After several calls, Brian came out again, I asked him if he was going to fix it. He said no he did not know who made it so he could not. He had the handles all apart and was going to take the part with him. I wasn't comfortable with this. After questioning him on the difficulty of what seemed like a simple leak to me, he told me that it was going to cost OVER $400 to fix. That he had to cut copper line and fix this and that. I told him I would have to deal with this later. A week later, I decided to take the handles to a plumbing shop and when I took off the handle there was a part number there which I plugged into the internet and in TEN SECONDS I had the make, American Standard, and model number, something Brian was UNABLE TO LOCATE! I ordered the part (cost was $25.00) and in less than an hour a friend and I had FIXED my leak. BTW: ACE carries the part I needed. DO NOT TRUST THEM! Get a second opinion! read more

The last time I used Lenox the communication was terrible. The guy they sent out said he needed a part, left and was never heard from again. I called the office and they contacted him at my request, acting as though they had done something way beyond the call of duty. But nothing ever came of it. I never heard back from the repairman. So, if you can get past all the ads by competitors that show up first now, above the company you're trying to read about or comment on, in this case Lenox, you might consider some of those other places and affirm Yelp's current business model. read more

Excellent communication! Friendly Service! Unfortunately, we found ourselves in dire need of plumbing services. Who do you turn to? What do you do? Had no idea where to begin. I contacted Lenox on Saturday morning via the appointment schedule email and Christopher Cameron reached out to us that morning. We are very thankful that he was able to come out first thing. Our basement had flooded & we saw the awful task ahead of us. I really appreciated the call back from Christopher first thing. I also like the follow through with the eta of his arrival. Sink still leaking, plumber did not follow up after first visit. I believe this is my first less than complimentary review. On October 14th, 2013, I requested Lenox Plumbing to come out to my home in Plymouth, MI for a leaking sink. They came out to the house and told my tenant that they needed to order a part and would follow up. As of today, November 4th, I have yet to receive an update and the sink is still leaking. I did email them previously. Today, I left a message. I only regret that three weeks have gone by without the issue being fixed. Understandable if a part is to be ordered, but a follow up phone call or some type of notification would have been nice. I was excited to use their service, but unfortunately I won't be able to share a good report like the others. read more

I had to call SIX plumbers to fix my basement gas leak, and Lenox was the only one who was willing to do fair business. They are a little difficult to get ahold of; email seems to be the best way. But they came out and gave me a free estimate, and guess what? They charged me exactly what they said they would once the work was done. They pressure tested the line properly, too, with an air compressor and a pressure gauge. Two of the other plumbers I talked to wanted me to have DTE turn the gas back on so they could test for the leak with dish soap. Um, no. I'm not going to knowingly have an active gas leak in my house for a few days while I wait for you to come out, just because you're too cheap or dumb to fix it the right way. Yet another plumber charged me $60 to come out and tell me that it would cost another $150 to tell me how much the work would actually cost because he would have to take down drywall to see everything. Still another plumber told me that they didn't "do" estimates, they just come out and do the work at $135/hour plus parts. Really? What if I didn't have enough money? You can't even ballpark me a figure? And the last guy didn't even show up, call, or answer his phone when I called to see what was going on after I waited for hours and he didn't show. My mom had her hot water heater break on the afternoon before a holiday weekend, and she really needed to get her hot water heater replaced or she would be out of water for the entire weekend. After contacting multiple places with no success, I was so thankful I found Lenox Plumbing to do the job. I talked with Sandra, who was so helpful in laying out our my options and said she could find someone in the next few hours to do the job. My mom immediately got a text telling her who would be coming to the house and at what time. The technician came on time, and she said that he replaced the water heater really quickly. My kids bought a water heater which was completely wrong specs for there home. Upon trying to install they had water pipes leaks. With the kids having twins anyday they couldnt be without water. Lenox was referred by a friend and i called as a emergency. Chris responded with same day appointnent. Mark came out and he was a gem. He was so professional and still a caring considerate person. YIKES! Cannot comment on the actual work but I did call them to replace two shut off valves on for a faucet.... They told me there would be a service charge and then $145 per valve. Ask for a quote before have services performed. We paid $335 for 30 minutes of work and minimal material. When we called to inquire about the charges the gentleman was extremely rude and said he knew his competitors pricing and that he was fair. When we offered to bring him a quote from a competitor (which he couldn't list) to show that we were overcharged we were told that it wouldn't matter and the pricing would NOT be adjusted. We will not use Lenox again for any service. I would suggest asking for a quote before hiring Lenox Plumbing! read more

I had an issue with a rusted through kitchen waste pipe and reached out to several plumbing companies I found. Lenox responded same day and set up an appointment for me for next day (which was best for me). Their estimate was very good and we scheduled them to do the work 2 days later (they were available at the time of the estimate). They also estimated for free. They worked very quickly, were friendly, cleaned up perfect and did a great job. This is my first review ever so bear that in mind. If I could give negative stars, I would. DO NOT CHOOSE LENOX. I had them come out in August to fix my hot water heater because it wasn't heating the water up enough. I scheduled an appointment online and they followed up the next day and they came out the next week. So far so good. The repair didn't fix anything, so I called them back early October to get them to complete the work I paid them almost $350 for. We managed to set up an appointment and whoever was supposed to come, didn't. And I didn't even get so much as a call back to reschedule. I had to call them again and they had no answer as to why they missed the appointment. Finally, a different guy came over at the end of October and confirmed that the gas control valve had been replaced by Chris and that they would fix the hot water heater free of charge since I had already paid them. He said he would order a part and it would come within a week and that they would come back and install it. Two weeks later I haven't heard a single thing from Lenox, so I call back again (3rd time since they did the first repair) and explain that I've been waiting for someone to come install this new part. The receptionist puts me on the phone with Chris and he says that they have the part there and that they can come in two days to install it. Guess who never shows up and doesn't inform me that they would be missing the appointment!! Since then, I have called 6 more times, some of those twice a day, and each time I call I get told the same message, "We're sorry you haven't been able to get a hold of anyone but I will pass this message on to the office manager and they will call you back as soon as possible". Six times now I've been told this exact same thing. Either there is no office manager and they are just scamming people out of their money or the whole company has amnesia and can't remember to pass the message along! The past 3 calls I have given up on asking for them to fix the problem and just asked for my money back. There is something seriously wrong with Lenox that makes them think it's OK to charge someone $350 for nothing and not even help them when they've been asking for the past 2 months for a refund or a fix. My advice is to go somewhere else with your business because Lenox obviously does not care about the customer and the quality of their work and just want to take your money. read more

This was after calling multiple companies in the area who wanted to charge me ungodly Amounts per shower : per hour etc and never gave me a straight answer on cost prior to booking the job . Lenox sent Brian out right away to give a free estimate . Free! Really liked Brian; he was efficient , smart and direct . Within 20 minutes I had the quote texted and emailed to me in detail . Lenox gave us a fair price with exploration which no one else did and the same person who quoted me came back to do the job . He cleaned up well and kept me informed of everything going on through out the process . A few weeks later one of my showers stopped working and they again sent the same guy ASAP to fix it ( shower hadn't been used in a year and needed a new filter ) . No questions, no money they responded as if it was an emergency . I was very happy all around and will call them for any plumbing related issues . read more

I am SO happy with Lenox Plumbing!! I just purchased a house that had not been lived in for at least a year. About two weeks after moving in, our basement drains backed up and we had some standing water in the basement. I assumed that we had caused a clog somewhere in the system and called Lenox to take a look. Right before Chris arrived, I heard a whoosh, and the drains cleared themselves out and the water drained. Chris came down to take a look and was able to explain to me that this was not uncommon in uninhabited homes- the junk in the pipes had hardened over time without much use, and the water pressure finally forced the clog out. Chris helped me test out multiple faucets and the tub throughout the house to make sure that no backup would occur. In addition, Chris fixed the leak under my utility sink. In the end, Chris did not charge me for coming out, voluntarily. It meant a lot to me that Lenox Plumbing seemed to care more about building a relationship with a client as opposed to getting more money out of me. After such wonderful service, it will be Lenox that I call when we replace our water heater later on this year. Thank you Chris/Lenox for the fantastic service. In January I called Lenox Plumbing. No one answered so I left a message. I was looking for someone to scope a sewer drain at a house I was in the process of purchasing. They did not return my call. I understand not every plumber does this, so I let it go. In May I called and left a message. This time I requested an estimate to have two sillcocks replaced with frost-prof ones and to have four valves on copper pipe replaced. I never heard anything back. I told them were I'm located (in their service area) and gave them my number. I find it rude that they don't return calls or have a receptionist/answering service. What if I needed immediate help or had to contact them once service was completed? I don't feel that this is a professional way to run a plumbing business. read more

The plumber showed up, got the job done efficiently, tidied up, and left me with a kitchen sink that drained well and no leaking pipes underneath (we had called because our kitchen sink wasn't draining despite my efforts to use the auger/snake on the drain). Reasonable rate and emailed invoice minutes after the job as complete. The only few minor things were 1) some minor scheduling communication that probably could have done easier/faster over phone than email and 2) needing to ask the plumber to take his shoes off (it'd be nice if people who worked in homes for a living used shoe covers). read more

Called the office 4 different times between 12:30pm-6:00pm and was told that a manager would call me back and my request was labeled "urgent". I have to take a few minutes and share with all of u our wonderful experience with this company. We had the pleasure of meeting Chris Cameron of Lenox Plumbing today. I gotta say, this is one of the coolest, most knowledgable, and practical tradesman I've ever met. I don't know about anyone else, but sometimes with skilled tradesman, I get the impression that they r either looking down at u bcz u don't know about that trade, or that they r setting u up for the big hit and they r trying to sell u a whole new system, when all u need is a screw here or a bolt there. Chris was neither, and proved to be quite the cool and respectful guy that wants to get things done right, and for the best possible price using only the best materials. We asked him to take a look at a few other things that the last plumber wanted to charge over a $1000 to fix, and he pretty much made clear that its an easy fix that I can do cheaply, and then proceeded to do it while I watched so that if I had the same problem in the future I could fix it myself. After picking up my jaw off the floor in amazement at how cool of an act this was, I made it clear that I would not ony be calling him for some other plumbing work I am doing, but was going to write him the best possible review I could. Excellent plumber, excellent guy, and a stand-up citizen that I would feel comfortable letting in to my home and around my family to do work for me. Highly, highly, highly recommend for his skill, attention to detail, and professional demeanor.
