I don't mind spending extra time on the chair if the work is thorough. However, I spent over an hour and a half only to get very poor results. One nail had bubbles so she had to remove the shellac polish and redo. It still looked awful after. She put 4 coats of polish on one nail and two on the rest. I voiced out my displeasure to the owner, and she tried to help but the end result still looked terrible. The owner was apologetic and seemed sincere. A $5 off coupon for next service was provided. Although I appreciate the goodwill gesture, I don't think I'll return. Too bad because the location is convenient. Forgot to mention: their shellac light wasn't working on a couple of tables. Had to move chairs several times.

A list of why I enjoyed my experience! 1. I loved how easy…read moreit is to find the nail salon as most other ones are harder to find or sometimes hidden. 2. When I first walked into the salon I was greeted very nicely by the salon staff which I appreciated way more than other places that say "hi what do you want?" (In a rude way) 3. When I asked for a specific nail design which was an OMBRÉ I was very pleased to know that they were able to do it and didn't mind paying the extra for it as I've tried THREE different salons prior to coming to PK salon and they all said no that they don't have the tools for it when i found out that there was a dip powder option for it I was quite upset at the prior three salons because I knew that the other salons do offer dip powder but just refused upon the time length it would have taken to do the nail. (It took about an hour and a half to finish my ombré dip powder extensions). 4. They have a stamp/point system and I'm a sucker for stuff like that. Also I appreciate it because they offer you a 20% discount on your 9th visit (I think) which is way better than other salons that I use to go to where they had no such things. It makes me feel more appreciated to comeback. (Plus who doesn't love discounts?) 5. Will definitely be my new go to nail place and would for sure be telling my friends. I also hope to try other things as I only did one thing.

I came here after finding out that there's a waxing salon near my house. I was very pleased with…read morethe convenience. When I walked in, everyone was nice and pleasant. The area was very clean. However, I was surprised by a few things when I started. First, there were the usual forms for client information that every client signs, but what I was confused about was the lack of details in the forms. There was no questionnaire about previous treatments, health restrictions/allergies, and other beauty treatment inquiries. Since I know my skin quite well and I wasn't too concerned about my skin, I decided not to bring it up. While I was signing the form, I heard someone with a loud voice complain about something. I wasn't too focused on it so I couldn't hear, but I thought it was a customer. To my surprise it was an employee; they continued to ramble as I was entering my treatment room. I was welcomed by the esthetician to the treatment room (I apologize for forgetting their name, it might have been Jennifer). I laid down on the bed and got ready. When they were waxing my underarms, I was surprised at how they applied the wax on my entire underarm area. I've never had a treatment that way; in my experience, the technique used was often to apply more than one application due to the different hair growth directions of the underarms. When they took the wax off, it hurt so much more, and they did not place their hand on the waxed area to avoid pain as well. The same goes with the other arm. She grabbed my arm really tightly as well throughout the process. After the wax, she decided to massage my underarms which was a very pleasant surprise. I appreciated that very much. However, when I went to look at my waxed area, I saw a big area of blood clots on one of my underarms. I've always had a few tiny blood clots on the hair follicle area, but this was a much bigger blood clot that looked like I was punched. I showed it to my boyfriend and he was frightened at the sight. It disappeared after 3-4 days. I still tipped the same amount at the end because it was a service, but I'm not sure if this is where I'll frequent for my waxes. I appreciate the happy demeanor of the staff and how polite they are, but unfortunately, my skin does not seem to enjoy the salon very much. Update (08/08/2020): The owner responded through Google Reviews, had failed to apologize for my experience, and proceeded to become passive-aggressive in their correspondence. They failed to address the points that were brought up and attempted to explain basic waxing side effects as if I've never had waxes before.

Really and truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had at ANY establishment…read more I can assign the one star rating to cleanliness. That's where it ends at Raw Beauty Bar. The manicurist's behavior was appalling and the overall manicure sub-par (see photos below for the hack job on my cuticles and the overall streaky and messy colour). Will have to visit either of my two tried-and-true nail salons in the east end to fix this one. I usually write more detailed reviews. This was my third attempt at it. I'm beyond angry about this experience and nothing I wrote seemed appropriate, so there you have it.

UPDATED REVIEW:…read more Everything can be fixed with some good old fashioned customer service. After I posted my review (you can see my previous review below) the owner of the salon emailed me directly. Not only did she apologize, but she explained things (why they've been short staffed, why it's been hard to get in touch, etc), without trying to excuse them and then she laid out her plan of solutions. It really was the definition of how to win back a customer. I went back today and couldn't have had a better experience. Big props to the young woman running this bustling business- a one-woman show- with integrity and respect. I booked my appointment online, which was very quick and easy. The staff were all friendly and incredibly attentive. All my previous issues seem to be a distant memory. I will definitely be going back. My previous review: Cute interior, good location, but poor customer service and a lack of communication between the employees. I've been a few times, hoping once I got into their grove, things would improve. I can't even count the number of unreturned voicemails I've left. Literally a week will go by and my voicemail (during business hours because the phone goes unanswered regularly) will never be returned. I haven't found any of the staff particularly friendly. There's a candy bar at the front and a coffee machine but I've never seen anyone be offered a drink. The nail services themselves are good. I think it would be fun for a bachelorette party or a group of girls since you could take over and make it what you want.
