The manicurist's behavior was appalling and the overall manicure sub-par (see photos below for the hack job on my cuticles and the overall streaky and messy colour). Will have to visit either of my two tried-and-true nail salons in the east end to fix this one. I usually write more detailed reviews. This was my third attempt at it. After I posted my review (you can see my previous review below) the owner of the salon emailed me directly. Not only did she apologize, but she explained things (why they've been short staffed, why it's been hard to get in touch, etc), without trying to excuse them and then she laid out her plan of solutions. It really was the definition of how to win back a customer. I went back today and couldn't have had a better experience. Big props to the young woman running this bustling business- a one-woman show- with integrity and respect. I booked my appointment online, which was very quick and easy. The staff were all friendly and incredibly attentive. All my previous issues seem to be a distant memory. I will definitely be going back. My previous review: Cute interior, good location, but poor customer service and a lack of communication between the employees. I've been a few times, hoping once I got into their grove, things would improve. I can't even count the number of unreturned voicemails I've left. Literally a week will go by and my voicemail (during business hours because the phone goes unanswered regularly) will never be returned. I haven't found any of the staff particularly friendly. There's a candy bar at the front and a coffee machine but I've never seen anyone be offered a drink. The nail services themselves are good. I think it would be fun for a bachelorette party or a group of girls since you could take over and make it what you want.

They did an amazing job, but after pushing back my cuticles and filing them, my cuticles were still there so I asked them to cut them off. This extra step counted as a manicure so it was an extra $12 charge? Which, okay fine.. but it just added to the cost of everything. For a gel refill (+2 nail fixes since they popped off from my first appt), plus design, plus covid PPE costs, & tip, it came up to almost $150! I don't understand how people can keep getting their nails done with these prices. I was okay paying for it since I needed PERFECT nails for my wedding - and I am BEYOND happy with the outcome, but the price is keeping me from going back unless for a special occasion. (The first time I went for a full set of gel nails & 1 colour with sparkle on top came up to $90 with tip).. so almost double the price if I went to a basic nail salon. You do get what you pay for, but again, not sure how people can keep up with these prices. I would still definitely recommend going to Allure Nail Bar. She sighed at me and looked around in annoyance and rudeness when I asked if I could take a peek to see if the nails are the same length before she started painted them. She had the guts to tell me that they were the same length without even comparing them. I put them side by side and said look, the ones from the right hand are much longer. She then proceeded to start filing to fix them a little better. Then, I asked if she could let me know when she would fix the corners because they were too square (so sharp they could cut). If I remember correctly, she sighed and said "let me finish my job"...and it just went downhill from there. It was clear that she was exhausted from her day of work, before she even start with me, and just wanted to get it over with. She didn't even clean my nails with the cuticle pusher or the clipper and proceeded to put the fake nail and was hurrying to slap the colour on top. On my ring finger's nail, she tried to cut the frozen cuticle AFTER she applied the polish and although it scratched the side, she just put the top coat on and asked me to cure it in the machine. I couldn't believe she didn't even attempt to fix her mistake. When I noticed how uninterested she was (as I would ask how her day went and she wouldn't reply, and I would thank her on multiple occasions and make remarks on how pretty they look when in fact they looked awful, she would still not reply). On top of it all, what bothered me the most is how crooked the nails were in the end, and yet, she couldn't have cared less. When I asked her to fix it politely (i asked if she could and if she couldn't, it was totally okay), she filed here and there and stopped. At that point I was too sad and decided to take the nail file and do it myself. I paid $75 + I gave her a $4 tip just because I felt like it's the right thing to do, but inside I feel very saddened by this experience. I've never been this mistreated in a nail salon and I've been to MANY. I've seen nail technicians who have done a bad job but NEVER did I have to take the nail file and do it myself and she just got up, took her stuff and left. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed because I was looking forward to paint them for a long time. I hope she realizes how rude she was and how unfortunate it is for her because the team seemed fun and nice. It was her who simply didn't care.
