I googled up best salon in Grapevine, and that is how I came across DV8 and after taking my time to read the reviews I decided to look for an appointment with Erika. From the moment you walk into the salon you are welcomed by a super friendly smile at the front desk, the whole vibe of this place is different from any salon I had been to before (I have lived in Miami and Chicago and I promise you this place feels soooo much friendlier) Erika came out to greet me and she was just as nice and warm as everyone who had left prior reviews for her had mentioned. She was absolutely a pleasure to work with. Asked me questions about the length of the haircut I wanted ( I was not even sure myself) but after patiently looking at the pictures I had saved on my phone, she proceeded to give me the exact haircut I had in mind but could not quite explain. She listened to my concerns ( I run 5 times a week so I do not have the time or patience to blow dry / style my hair) I wanted the length of the layers long enough I could still tie up and not have lose strands. I also wanted long side bangs but again not too short were I could still keep out of my face when running yet short enough to clearly be side bangs. I got all this plus more. After we were done with the cut, I explained to her I want to do color on my next visit but I am so bad at explaining what I had in mind... so she proceeded to show me different hair color of stylists around the establishment which gave me a clear idea of the different options with balayage, ombre etc. I am not the most put together when it comes to this kind of stuff but I truly feel that having a stylist that LISTENS and takes the time to understand what you are trying to do with your hair translates into a very positive hair salon experience. I am looking forward to my hair color session in a few weeks because I know I have found someone who clearly enjoys what she does and that translates into the quality of her work. On a side note about the salon, I love the fact that they are closed on weekends so that employees can spend time with their families...seriously, who does that aside from Chick-fil-a? To me that speaks volumes about the owners and what is important to them. It says they see employees as family and rather keep that family happy over making extra thousands of dollars on the weekends which is when most people would go get their hair done. Definitely happy to have found DV8 and looking forward to continue visiting the salon.

Prices are good. Super clean. But what I got wasn't what I wanted/asked for. I even asked if the stylist wanted me to keep the photo out and was told it wasn't necessary. Showed the picture at LEAST 4 times and was told that this is popular cut which put me under the assumption that it was doable. When asked if I liked the cut, I said that I thought it should be shorter. I was shocked when the reply was "Your hairline can only go up so far". Hairline and haircut are two different things. I zipped my lips and just agreed to everything so I could get out of there and get it fixed elsewhere. Now to go somewhere else to get it fixed. Update: Went to another salon and got it taken care of.

They don't have much of an online presence so it was a surprising find. A friend referred me to Kendal Florence, and I had an excellent experience. I put off getting my hair cut for 6 months after moving to Texas because I was so nervous about finding a new stylist to deal with my thick, coarse, curly & very unruly hair. I've had a number of bad experiences over the years & a good stylist is worth their weight in gold. Kendal is very friendly, professional, & immediately put her hands in my hair & was very positive about the fact that she was excited to cut it. I've been on the receiving end of stylists who looked nervous or horrified once they see how much hair I have, but I didn't feel that AT ALL from her. I have very curly hair and it's impossible to explain what cut I want unless once my hair is wet. I appreciated that Kendal took the time to sit me down in the chair and discuss what I wanted BEFORE shampooing my hair. She was very gentle with my wet hair & untangled it carefully-no ripping, yanking, etc. I really appreciated that especially since I am so gentle with it myself as I don't want to damage it. She worked quickly but did a thorough job. While she was working she seemed so completely in her element, not nervous & fidgety. I usually feel terrified with each chunk of hair that falls but not this time. I got a keratin treatment and a major haircut. My hair went from primarily one length, ultra long (3 inches past my bra strap) to a medium-length angled bob with the front being dramatically longer than the back. It looks EXACTLY like the pictures I showed her and I felt she really listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly! I feel the cut is so flattering & fabulous. Also, this might seem like a given to people with "normal" hair but she did a great blow-out! I have been left damp many times over the years. I really appreciated the time she spent and her attention to detail. I am so happy to have found her! Another great thing is that you can actually book appointments via text. :)
