I must say, I am honestly surprised by the negative reviews on here, but everyone's experience is different. However, I wanted to write a review that reflected our experience with Lehrer, as it was nothing but positive. We purchased a home in late Dec 2021 and have been in the process of renovating the interior so it no longer screams 1970s with sporadic 1990s updates. Our most recent project was tackling the fireplace. Our old fireplace was actually charming in it's own right (and we saved several features such as the mantel to be used somehow in the future), but it was more mountain cabin-y and less our vibe. During the planning, we contacted several fireplace vendors and visited several showrooms, but ultimately went with Lehrer. From the beginning, they were incredibly easy to work with. We did not have a general contractor and instead were coordinating the various trades specialists independently. We wanted to keep the fireplace wood burning, which was a challenge considering everything is gas or electric these days, but we presented Lehrer with our vision and they helped direct us to the products that would best suit our needs. We ordered a MagraHearth mantel and a Stoll door. Ken, one of the owners, personally came to our home to help us with measurements as we did not fully trust our skills. Since the pieces were being manufactured semi-custom, it took a couple months to get the products in, which was fine considering the amount of demo/rebuilding we were doing with the stone and concrete. After the stone work was complete, we went to put the doors on and discovered our frame was installed upside-down, and two of the pivot pegs were bent. We didn't know what to do other than attempt to use a vice grip to straighten them out, and try to fill in the frame holes so the doors could be in the correct orientation. We called Ken in a bit of a panic. He was so helpful, graciously offering to come over again and check it out. He took the doors back with him to the shop to problem solve the issues, where he ended up putting on a tack weld so the doors would fit the holes on the frame right-side up, and straightened out the bent pegs so they rotate properly. Buyers beware!!! This store - posing as a Mom and Pop operation - nothing more than a thievery corporation. They sell products that come with NO WARRANTY whatsoever. I purchased a $4000 wood stove that needs a blower fan to be effective. The catch is that the blower fan is a piece of garbage and costs $400. I've replaced two now in 5 years ( only using 6 mos a year) and all the Lehrer' s can say is " sorry this company has no warranty - buy another" Disgraceful way to run a business - do not support these hucksters! read more

So impressed with the quality furniture and quality customer service! We purchased a beautiful patio table that is also a fire pit. I am in love with it! We went in 30 minutes prior to them closing and they gave us high quality service, without rushing us. The delivery guys were speedy and helpful as well. We will definitely be purchasing here again! read more

I'm going to go against the other reviews a little bit here and explain why I give five stars: We went into the shop a couple of times over the course of our search for a new grill. Our criteria were 1. Made in USA (if possible) and 2. Buy local (if possible). There are a couple of good places around town but these guys (Ken was the gentleman who helped us) were not only knowledgeable and friendly, but offered us a very good price for our natural gas grill. He spent time laying out the pros and cons of each product and was not pushy at all. The fact that the staff was laid back and did not push us toward a sale was a nice change. Instead they took the approach of finding out what our need and budget was, and then helped us back into a decision. In the end, we bought a grill that was USA made with a good warranty and well within budget. The reason for a five star review is because of the need to counterbalance the extreme negative, terse, and somewhat uninformative reviewers below. In reality, Lehrer would maybe get a four and a half star rating, losing a half star because they are a little disorganized on the operations side when filling out orders etc. The system is clearly not as automated as a national chain in terms of inventory management but if you're a little patient with the local business, you won't have buyers remorse once the end product reaches your doorstep. Good products. Awful service. I paid a lot of money to get a good Mendota fireplace. It works well. When I went to get it serviced I called and set an appointment. When the appointment came, so did the snow. The appointment was understandably cancelled. The problem comes when no on ecalls back to reschedule the appointment they cancelled. Then I called to reschedule and you get stuck on a long hold and then Paula is rude and it is obvious she could care less. Welcome to Lehrers. read more

Thus far, the customer service with Lehrer's Lakewood store is superb. We need a fire pit for our deck, and the initial phone conversation was not only polite but very informative and positive. My husband and I bought a new home and we went in trying to buy a fireplace. We were ready to purchase it right then and there and schedule the install. Before they could install it they had to run a gas line which they said they could do. When I started to email the owner to schedule the gas line install and the fireplace install he completely ghosted me. No response to any of my emails so we had to move on and find a different vendor. They wasted a ton of my time for apparently no reason. read more

Overall they know what they are doing. The owner takes the time to walk through the process of installing a new fireplace or insert and offers suggestions along the way. The fireplaces and inserts and anything else needed is relatively expensive as is the installation but we expected that. What I didn't expect was the complete mess left behind by the installers. They had to remove some material from the original fireplace and left about 100lbs of it behind in a box for us to dispose of. Not a big deal but still. Then they left much of that material behind the fireplace cavity for us to clean up. Then the soot... This mess was left all over the place. They tried to broom some of it up using my push broom, again not a big deal but they didn't ask. Then they decided to help themselves to my shop vac in my garage! The soot clogged my filter so they decided to bang it off on some decorative rock near my fence. My neighbors really like this new look. The shop vac is completely filthy and the filter is shot. They also left a bunch of self tapping screws in the street and in my driveway so I'd have a reminder of this event in my tires. To top it off, they left several cigarette butts all over the front sidewalk area and left a partial cigarette on top of my mailbox for safe keeping. I called the owner and let him know what happened, provided him with these photos and got an apology. Thanks! Really, who cares about an apology! No offer up clean up the mess, replace my shop vac filter, or give a discount for the problems. Can't recommend these guys. read more

We went in to buy a new fireplace and mantel plus some outdoor fireplace and furniture. But nobody acknowledged us (I guess we looked poor). I did hang around a until someone got free and he just ignored me like I wasn't there. So we went to Rocky Mountain Stove and Fireplace and spent 5000. To bad for them because I was going to spend way more there. read more

I just had a fireplace insert installed by Lehrer's in Lakewood. Ordering the insert was a bit disconcerting. The owner is knowledgeable but perhaps a bit disorganized :). That said, he took the time to show me all options and make recommendations, and was upfront with costs. The two men who came to my home to install the insert were superstars. They were professional, clean-cut, engaging, well-spoken, and knowledgeable. My home is 96 years old and I was concerned that installing the insert would be difficult in an antiquated fireplace. The installers worked quickly and in sync, cleaned up both inside my house and in the driveway after they completed their task, and explained clearly how to operate both the insert and the remote. The room where the insert was installed seemed to consistently stay at about 58 degrees prior to installation even with my furnace running, and this insert has completely changed the room. It is now comfortable and warm, and the insert is attractive and functional. I am extremely pleased. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before signing the contract with Lehrer! We had 5 contractors in for consult on the required add'l gas line for the high efficiency fireplace I purchased from them. 4 of them agreed on the route for the pipe including Lehrer's. We scheduled our work with Lehrer on that route. Watching their work enfold, I had to ask they stop. Now? -- I have a hole in my wall from inside to outside, which is crooked and unable to run pipe through. (Only flexpipe which is not code to exterior home.) My exterior brick requires a significant masonry repair (The pipe can't even be anchored to it securely). The drywall is wet. The framing for the interior wall is nearly gone on the corner (They should have drilled a hole without taking out the interior studs.) So, I spoke with Ken Lehrer. I was really surprised he is not interested in fixing the botch, working with us to find a more competent staff member amongst their 3 locations' staffs. He states the crooked hole to torn up exterior brick, the missing corner on that walls framing -- are all 'within standard' for his industry. Wow. Did they submit the cheapest quote? Nope. But I trusted they had integrity and were interested in a job well done, on a straightforward install. I should have known from the stressed feel of his office staff, and watching him argue so many times on the phone in his office, that this was an unwise choice. Now, I am left to manage the repairs, & schedule a new contractor to finish a job far from done. Lehrer? -- With a 50% deposit paid on the unit and labor months ago, but only 3 hrs of labor and 20 ft of raw pipe to show for it ....well, the next days may prove interesting. read more

I had a B class gas fireplace that was 30 years old. I contacted several fireplace stores in the Denver Metro area to get estimates and suggestions on replacing the old fireplace with a more modern one. One company took a look and said they would "no bid" as the job was too difficult. Another didn't even call back. One gave a fair bid but said they would have to demo the bricks around the fireplace and could only replace the old fireplace with a much smaller insert. Finally, I spoke to Ken Lehrer of Lehrer's fireplace in Lakewood. He came out to my house and came up with a simple and effective way to pull out my old fireplace and install a new one without damaging anything. Also, the price was very competitive and fair. The job was done quickly and with extremely good results. Everyone from Lehrer's was friendly and supportive of my needs. My wife and I are very happy with our new fireplace and the great service from this store. read more

Was planning to buy another $5,000 of product from Lehrer for my patio including chairs and a flame fireplace, but they have been quite unresponsive to my contractor with getting my first purchase installed - an inside gas stove for the living room - working. They have not returned calls in a timely manner or made much effort to service my account. Avoid. read more
