I've been going to Ms. Lee for about two years, mainly because of the convenience and proximity to my home. Unfortunately, my overall experience has been extremely disappointing. While the actual work can be decent at times, the lack of professionalism, accountability, and consistency has made the experience frustrating. Pricing changes abruptly without explanation, communication is poor, and the business only accepts cash, which creates even more inconvenience. There seems to be very little accountability when issues arise, and as a long-time customer, that has been especially disappointing. If you're in the Chevy Chase area, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The stress and inconsistency simply are not worth it. read more

I would strongly recommend Lee's Laundry for dry cleaning and seamstress services. Mrs. Lee does an excellent job hemming pants and skirts, making other alterations, and is an absolute magician at repairs. She took a shirt with a frayed collar, sewed it, and somehow flipped in over so you would never know there was anything wrong with it. read more

Stay away from this place at any cost. They put two holes into my suit pants, did not tell me about it. Once I noticed it and confronted them, they claim it was a moth in our home. We had never had moths and the only trouser that has moth holes is the one that Lee's Laundry dry-cleaned. Do not use this place there are plenty of honest dry-cleaners in the area. read more

I have used this laundry place many, many times. They clean shirts just fine for a reasonable price. prices on other items can be more expensive than other laundromats. A few months back, after reading an article in the Washington Post, I asked the owners if they used carcinogenic chemicals as described in the article. My question was brushed aside rather swiftly, which leads me to think that they probably do. Finally, I think Mrs. Lee could use a lesson in customer service. I once asked her how much it would cost to clean a polo shirt and, surprised at the five dollar price tag, was given a quite rude look and disparaging remark. Maybe she was having a bad day. 3.5 stars for price on laundering shirts only and 2.5 stars for everything else. read more

Great local place to get your stuff dry cleaned. I haven't used them as a tailor (I use another guy in the area), but they are very good cleaners. One of my shirts came back with a couple of creases and they took it back and did it without fuss. They are also inexpensive, especially if you need to just get something pressed. Very nice couple runs the place. read more

Amazing service and super sweet! I needed some pants hemmed on short notice, called three other cleaners who all said it would take at least a week before finding Lee's--she finished them by the next afternoon! Very nice and accommodating, she even pressed them for free. I will note that it's lucky I carry my checkbook with me since they only take cash or check. read more

Excellent. Very nice and friendly. My work shirts came back fresh and in great condition. I asked them to sew back on buttons on two shirts that another place (ZIPS) ripped off and they did for a small charge. Got all 7 of my shirts back that next afternoon. Plus the repaired buttons. I'm surprised she's still in business, especially with two other dry cleaners nearby, one around the corner; the other across the street. This is the worst of the three. For these reasons: -- Lee's Laundry only takes cash and checks. No credit or debit cards. So after years of hearing "We only take cards" from every other business on the Eastern Seaboard, I stopped carrying cash and my checkbook. There is NO signage in the store or on the door about this policy, NO note on the ticket/receipt and NO way of knowing this until you go and try to get your clothes. -- The proprietor is argumentative and interactions with her are an exercise in futility. (And that would be true even if she spoke decent English.) When I asked about the surprise cash/check only policy, she gave me some story of another employee in another location (somewhere in Maryland) who did take credit cards -- totally irrelevant and it would have been hilarious if I hadn't had to leave my cleaned clothes there, go home to get my checkbook, and come back. Total waste of time. -- When I got back with my checkbook, she was in an altercation with another customer whose cleaning she'd lost, and the customer needed it to travel tomorrow. The proprietor called someone and had a loud argument with someone in Chinese who was yelling back -- meanwhile, the customer is standing there with two small children who couldn't understand the delay. I hope they found her cleaning. I am NOT going back. read more

Took a fancy dress I planned to wear for a wedding there for alterations. They must have put it in the dryer -- the sequins are all shrunken, curled and discolored and the dress is ruined. Very upset -- it was a beautiful, expensive dress. And now I have nothing to wear. Grrr. read more

I LOVE Lee's--my dad and I have been coming here for about 20 years. The dry cleaning is great and the alterations are pretty much the best you can get. I have a weird build that necessitates having a lot of my good clothes tailored, and I don't trust anyone to do it except Mrs. Lee; her alterations aren't cheap, but they're completely worth it. The Lees are also some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. The other dry cleaning places in the neighborhood are perfectly fine and unlikely to screw up your clothes, but if you want really exceptional workmanship and service, go to Lee's. read more

I took a dress there to be hemmed and have the zipper shortened. The top layers of tule are cut unevenly, and the zipper that was supposed to be shortened is a disaster. At no point were they told to take the dress in, which is precisely what they did. The dress fit me perfectly, other than the hemming, and now is too tight. I have to wear the dress to a wedding I am taking part in in one week. Now I have to pay someone else MORE money to get it fixed, or scramble to buy another dress to wear in it's place. Not to mention the lady was beyond rude and tried to place the blame on me after first trying to deny that they took it in. I had to show her exactly where they stitched to prove her wrong. They also said that they could remove a mark if I paid for dry cleaning. Luckily I checked because the mark was still there and they were still trying to charge me. Horrible service all around. Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere! read more

STAY AWAY!!!! I needed a new zipper on an jumpsuit I just purchased and not knowing where to go tried this place because it was by my job and the has 4 stars. I took it in on Tuesday and was told it would be $25 and they only accepted cash or check. I asked when they could have it completed and they said Thursday evening...so far so good. I arrived Thursday evening, at around 6pm and hour before they closed and was told they did not have the jumpsuit. Not only was it not ready it wasn't even there. I asked when would it be ready, she told me Saturday. I told her that was unacceptable and wanted to know what was going on. She called the tailor and told me that they could not find the right zipper. I was asked about why I wasn't contacted to inform me of the delay, she did not have an answer. She then proceeded to take another customer who'd come in while I was waiting. Mark all of her clothes for intake, get her clothes she was waiting for and shoes, leaving me waiting. When she came back to me, she asked me when did I need it, I told her Friday at noon, she called the tailor again but did not get a response. She finally told me exasperated that she would have it done Friday morning. I came in at 11:05 to pick up my jumpsuit and was told it would be $39! I told her I was told $25 dollar, and she said no the dry cleaning was more. I told her I did not ask for dry cleaning, nor was I told that I would be charged for dry cleaning. They then said they would only charge $25, which I think should have been discounted for having to wait an additional day, but paid to be done with the whole affair. First time customer, WON'T be returning and don't recommend you do either. read more

Total rip off!! The woman is rude and quotes an incorrect price then charges an arm and a leg for the items. I will never go back. She fights with her customers and is completely rediculous. read more
