    I really don't understand what all the fuss is about with the ratings here. I am a consistent and regular user of the service. It is what it is. A dry cleaner that does a good job. It's probably true that the staff are not as cheerful as they could be but I have found the managers to be responsive in solving problems as best as any such service would be. They continue to operate during these challenging times. And if the continued presence of customers is any indication that they do good work at an affordable price, the proof is in the pudding.

    Ruined the wool. It now piling, flimsy looks washed and dried.

    Quality has completely gone down. There not washing the clothes well. I sent about 20 garments. SEVEN OF THEM had stains that, in the past, would have been properly removed before drying the garments. 7 garments, THAT ARE NOT CHEAP, the stains were not removed, whats worse is that they were likely dried with stains on them rendering them irremovable/permanent. Additionally, my ONE OF A KIND WOOL JACKET WAS CLEARLY WASHED AND DRIED ON HIGH HEAT! YOU PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. "PROFESSIONAL DRY CLEANING" is not what they do. DO NOT BRING YOUR CLOTHES HERE! I will NEVER return to ZIPS because they are essentially just ruining my clothes now. Complete disappointment. They're cheap and quick which is great but if you're not going to actually clean clothes and dry clean clothes with the stains on them then don't bring your clothes here. They will be ruined. They are not consistent. Take your clothes to a place were they'll actually clean them and remove stains and not permanently ruin your clothes. A cheap fast service is NOT worth it if they're going to just ruin your clothes. DO NOT BRING YOUR CLOTHES HERE!

    I only chose one star because 0 wasn't an option. I wouldn't recommend cleaning any expensive, embroidered, or colored items here. They suck. Aside from basically laughing as I told them they messed up MULTIPLE EXPENSIVE garments in cleaning, this is by far THE worst job they've ever done. This wasn't my first trip here, and they've done enough for everyday clothes to have us return. So we decided before our trip, to try some more expensive clothes, and the results were worse than the jobs they do with our normal clothes. After reading reviews, it's almost as if they deliberately target more expensive items to mess up, try to reimburse you less than what it's worth, and keep the clothes!!!!!!!! It's discouraging to go back and try to get a resolution after feeling like being laughed at on the phone. Also, based on not only other reviews, but their terrible customer service and "It's the customers fault," attitude, I'd rather save my peace of mind than argue about $800 in some of my FAVORITE clothes being damaged in 1 dry cleaning session. And I spend nearly $100 every visit. That alone should say a lot about their resolutions, customer service, and work. But I will not go unheard.

    Alteration issue

    I brought a new pair of Uggs pajamas to Zips with the specific instructions to raise each pant leg hem by 2 inches. When I picked them up at Zips, there was a significant difference in the leg length, about 1.5 difference. I took the pants back and the alterations person said she could fix it and would make both pant legs the same length. Two weeks later I picked up the pants and the length seemed to be about the same with both legs. After washing the pants, the difference in length was there again. It seems as if the alterations person stretched the shorter leg to make both legs equal. There seemed to be absolutely no difference in the stitching, etc. Nothing in terms of an alternation fix had actually been done. After contacting the zips.com claims address and then returning to speak to the Zips manager at the store as the email correspondence indicated, I was told there was nothing they could do since I washed the pants after pickup and)or 30 days had elapsed from the first alteration date. $100 pajamas and the Zips charge for alterations were all on me. I was also treated poorly, dismissed and I can't even count the number of eyerolls I received from the Zips manager. Please do not bring your alterations to Zips. They do not stand behind their work and if there are any issues, Zips will not take ownership or compensate for the damage to your garments.

    Service is absolutely terrible. I just had a $400 pair of jeans completely butchered during alteration of the hem. I specifically asked that the hem at the bottom of the pants be pulled up a few inches and she completely discarded the original hem and left a botchy seam at bottom. The pants look so incomplete. Never again. And the manager was not helpful in resolving the issue. No regard for customer satisfaction.

    Zips is fabulous! I've been going to the Connecticut Ave location in DC for 20+ years. Great value and convenience.

    Real disappointment. I dropped off a velvet tunic for an under-the -arm repair. I explained to the…read moreclerk that it ripped because it was tighter on one side than the other, so I needed the repair to include an insert of velvet to counteract the tightness. The clerk spoke to the owner on the phone at length to determine the cost. I was told the owner would call me with the price. No call. Two weeks later I went to pick up the item, expecting that it would be completed, which it was. However, there was no additional fabric added to compensate for the tightness and the repair was so subpar, I could pull apart the seam. $39.87 later (I could have sworn the clerk said $29.87, but having now read these reviews I see I was charged extra for using a debit card. WTF?) Anyway. I could have repaired this on my own had I suspected the business would not follow through with my explanation of the issue. Wow. TERRIBLE (all caps, underlined, boldfaced) experience. Run - don't walk - do the nearest exit. The wedding dress in the window may be impressive but nothing else about this place is. Don't be fooled as I was.

This is a lucrative business, in a good location, within a well-to-do area of DC. In this day and age, it's ridiculous to penalize customers for not using cash, especially during a pandemic. 2. The manager (Suzy, older Asian woman) needs to think before speaking. She actually asked me if I was pregnant when I went to pay for my alteration (hemming pant/jeans leg, so there was no logical reason for this question). Excuse me? Only a very ill mannered or ignorant person would ask a customer this question when it wasn't relevant for the alteration requested. I laughed it off and joked about it a little because she'd already taken my garment and I wanted to leave as expediently as possible. And there's a huge difference between friendly banter and lack of social/conversational skills. I suggest that she learn to educate herself on the latter. There was really no excuse for this behavior. And incidentally, Suzy is neither "modelesque" nor thin, so who is she to judge on anyone's appearance? 3. I picked up my jeans (alteration/hemming service) on 10/11/22. They were 2.5" too long post hemming! I called and spoke with the manager (Suzy), who instructed me to bring the jeans back. I informed her that I would have to wait until 10/15/22. I brought my jeans back on 10/15/22, put them on again for pinning, only for Suzy to ask me if they were the same jeans. Are you freaking kidding me? So, rather than apologizing for the crap job on hemming, which Suzy should have done, she levels yet another insult at me! To add insult to injury, she also had the audacity to complain to me about other customers who left the store about 5 minutes ago. She wanted to charge a customer $18.00 for dry cleaning a scarf. Not my problem, but more to the point, Suzy should learn to shut her mouth and be grateful she gets any business given the rotten way she treats customers! And I would have walked out, but she needed to re-do the job with my jeans. And I was told to pick up my jeans on 10/22/22, no time given by Suzy. 3. Went to pick up my jeans on 10/22/22 at around 3:25 PM. Surprise, surprise--not there! I was told to check back at 5:00 PM or on Monday, 10/24/22. Stay away from this place! Suzy is one of the absolute rudest, disgusting person I've ever encountered in my life! So much for "community" oriented business! There are other options and I refuse to spend my money with a proprietor who treats me badly!
