I've never had a deep tissue massage before but I've been saying for weeks that I wish a steamroller could roll out all the knots in my back and I kid you not, this massage did THAT! Don't even consider coming here. Booked in for first time. Highly unprofessional. Was basically ignored when I came in. Not greeted by my masseuse or asked my concerns or to fill anything out? Woman masseuse walked in on me while I was changing for massage. After 1 minute she knocked on door to ask if I was ready. Not sure if she thought I was super man and would whip my clothes off right away. I just walked out. I've been to other Thai massage places in the city and this one seems creepy. Male customer who came out before me from a massage was leering at me and then he was looking at me outside on sidewalk in the window while I waited for my massage. Do not ever go here. UNPROFESSIONAL. Rude. Discomforting. As it was my first time ever going there, Sky bigger bone lady was massaging me. She did not even ask me "if the pressure is okay or not." She was physically hurting me and pulling my arm all the way to the back. No one is that flexible and even though I yelled that it was hurting, she continued to pull on my arms. I was literally CRYING because it hurt a lot. All these "positive reviews" are from themselves and from people they know. This place is dirty and unsanitized on top of that. Sky literally shaved the top of my hair/head (now it's bald) and scratched my scalp continually. The owner is immature and rude as well. Do not ever go there as they are unprofessional and used some kind of hair removal all over my scalp that I am balding and having missing hairlines on my scalp. They didn't even bother to apologize when I tried to make a complaint, the manager just hung up the phone on me multiple times. I am only in my 20's and I have thick hair, no matter how many times I have bleached/dyed my hair this has never happened to me before. I even wrote them a bad google and yelp review. I wanted to share my story to notify everyone NOT to go there and that they should SERIOUSLY not be in business for the damage they have caused to myself and others. Most of their Google reviews are from people they know or paid marketers but if you check their Yelp review they only have 1 star which I checked for their Yelp review afterwards. Sky the bigger bone lady was hurting me during my massage, she pulled my arm all the way to the back and I screamed and literally my tears were coming out. She saw that my tears were coming out and still kept going at it. I'm flexible but not that flexible (no body is that flexible) and when your customer is yelling in pain you should STOP. But she kept going at it and I did notice my hair was sticky and messy right after. I don't understand how these people are still in business and no one deserves to go through this. What she has done is very inhuman like and completely not normal. It was my FIRST time ever going there as I TRUSTED their Google reviews since the Thai Spa I went to was fully booked. Normally Thai Spa's are good for me but this Spa is not even a Spa. It's in a townhouse and the massage beds are right beside their kitchen. THE BEST MASSAGE EVER. Seriously this place left me thinking why weren't I aware of them earlier. I had a deep tissue/thai massage which for the first time ever I didn't need to tell the therapist to adjust the pressure. Also nice that they are able to combine thai massage with deep tissue oil massage. She listened to me from the start about which areas I wanted to focus and the amount of pressure and she understood me well. She also checked couple times during the massage as well. The only downside is when the massage ends you have to dress up, pay and leave right away as they have back to back appointments I guess. Would be nice if there was some time left for relaxation so you don't have to rush. Also the affordable price point ($70/hour) makes this place a real value that you can get a quality massage without paying exorbiant amounts like most of the hotel SPAs. Hope they keep it that way. It was my Bday and a friend of mine called me up and asked if he could take me for a foot massages as a Bday present! He said he had read some positive reviews on Leelawadee Thai Spa and wanted to try it out. When we arrived we were a little taken aback by the "store's" appearance. Instead of being in a commercial building Leelawadee resides in a townhouse complex in Yaletown. We knocked on the door and when we gained entry we told the 2 young girls we were here for our 10 am massages. We were both lead up to the top floor of this townhouse by 2 attractive young girls. My friend said that if possible we would like to get our massages together. One of the girls said that was not possible. The massage tables were in 2 separate rooms so we had to be separated. I went into a small room with a massage table and one of the young girls accompanied me. She closed the door behind her and told me to "take off all my clothes and get on the massage table"! I was shocked! My response was (in a surprised and perplexed tone...)... "For a foot massage"? Hahahaha! Turns out they thought we had come for a full body massage when we really just wanted a foot massage! Hahaha! Stumbled on this hidden gem on one of my regular work trips to VC. I have had massage all over the world and for $60 an hr this doesn't get much better. Hayey was delightful, very thorough and changed pressure if I asked. She communicated very well. The stretching was excellent too. Also, they didn't do any manipulations (like stretching you out with their feet) which is what I really look forward to in a Thai massage. I got a 90 minute deep tissue massage from Kala. She untied all the knots in my muscles and stretched out all my tendons--I feel like I have a whole new body. For those who are not familiar with a deep tissue massage, it can hurt a bit because the tighter your muscles, the more it hurts to unknot them. I have never experienced a massage like the one she gave me, but it's authentic real healing. I highly recommend it for athletes or overstressed office workers. read more

Thanks to yelp, and the proximity to our hotel at The Burrard, I decided to book a couples massage for our 13th yr wedding anniversary weekend getaway. Thanks to horrific traffic at the boarder (get Nexus if you can) we were running late getting into town. I booked a 4:30pm 1.5 hours massage. We walked down the block and encountered townhomes. The door is looked and you have to ring the bell to be entered in. Once in- the confirm your appointment, ask you to remove your shoes and take you upstairs. There is no Health History form to fill out. So you are taken 2 the second level of the townhome. The couples massage was right next to the kitchen- cornered off with curtains. You are ask to remove all clothing but underwear and to lay face down. After a 2.5 hr drive, a 1.5 hr boarder wait and another 1 hr to get into Vancity from traffic- we quickly obliged. They have music playing in the background, but due to it being early September, the door to the outside landing was open and you Could hear cars and such ( not bad as the cool breeze was welcomed). The two massage therapists then asked my husband and I how hard we would like the massages- I of course like relaxation and my husband likes to get all the knots out. This is my first Thai massage, so I had nothing to compare it to-but if you are looking for relaxation-please book elsewhere. The ladies literally get on top of your back to get all the muscles loose and relaxed. They put a towel on top of you (think YMCA, or gym towel- neither comfortable or able to full cover my FULLER body). They talked a bit amongst themselves, but all I could think of was this relaxing enough.... she stretched my legs in places I didn't think It could stretch to. She got all the kinks out- which definitely relaxed me for the night. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his as it cracked his back in all the right places. Overall it was a great massage because it was what my BODY needed. They do take cards and accepted our tips in US currency since we couldn't get to the bank in time to convert it. Overall about $160 give or take depending on the conversion for a 1.5 hour couples massage is amazing.. give them a definite try if you need to get some knots and kinks out of your body. read more

The ladies were REALLY nice, and very accommodating since we'd called around last minute trying to find anyone that had an opening for a couples massage. My only REAL complaint was that all the other patrons received a room, while my boyfriend and I were set up on tables in a makeshift room in what seemed to be their actual kitchen. I guess that's what we get for being last minute callers, but this massage mid-trip totally was outside of our normal itinerary. The place is pretty much a 3-story townhouse which may also be their living space. Not a huge deal - it's clean and presentable. However, please note: CASH ONLY! The massage itself was great, but I felt like my table was so narrow. Mind you, I'm pretty small and only 5'0". I felt like my arms kept flopping off the table and because I was trying so hard to keep them on I couldn't fully relax. The pressure was JUST RIGHT, and I fell asleep practically on contact. I get Thai massages regularly from a few different spots, but I've never had a massage that comes close to what Kala gave me. It was the best massage I've ever had - very thorough in her technique. She focused on massaging my tendons to warm me up and educated me along the way so I could understand what she was doing and why, and then she walked on my back and we did some stretches at the end. Kala made me feel very relaxed and most importantly, my entire body felt relaxed, wobbly and beat up in the most amazing way. I highly recommend atleast a 90 minute session with Kala. If I was rating for the massage itself only, it would be a 5 star rating. The massage was better than the ones I've gotten recently at the Fairmont Pacific Rim spa and literally a third of the price! The environment itself is professional enough, but also looks like it doubles as a home. The staff was all very friendly, and my masseuse Tim was professional while seeming to truly care that I was having a good experience. He was very good at getting in the deep spots, including walking on my back and digging his elbow into nooks and crannies (felt waayyy better than that may sound). I loooove this place! I have been twice for deep tissue massages and both times were excellent. The atmosphere is pleasant and warm, relaxing music, extremely friendly staff and fantastic HARD massage! They don't have a reception area so you have to call rather than walk in. I do wish they had larger draping sheets/blankets as they just use towels and they aren't long enough to cover my whole body for warmth, but the quality of the massage is so good that its okay! The reason I picked Leelawadee is because of the distance to my hotel, it is only 10 minutes away. I finished golf at 4pm and dying for a massage, I called and was rather happy that they took me in right away. It was not the best Thai massage I experienced. The massage room is next to the bathroom. During the session, I could hear the dryer running, phone ringing and toilet flushing. For $105 for 90 minutes is a super great price but you get what you pay for. read more

I am in Vancouver often for work and came here last month for a massage based on their Yelp reviews and reasonable prices. The place itself was very clean and comfortable. The massage was fine. My masseuse was very sweet. But when I went to pay for my massage, things got weird. Apparently they had just started using something like Square on an iPad for customers to pay for their massage, and my masseuse had a really hard time using it. She was not familiar with it. I literally had to help her figure out how to use it. But what bothered me much more was when she was keying in my payment, she said that the massage was $60...plus $10 tax. What the....?! When I questioned the tax, she was unable to give me a solid answer. I tried explaining that there's no way it could be that much, but she didn't seem to understand what I was saying. At one point during this exchange she called someone else that worked there as she still could not figure out their new payment system, and she handed the phone over to me to speak to her colleague (her English was better and I guess she thought I'd be better off speaking to her...?) So I posed the same question about the tax and basically got the same illogical answer. At this point I just wanted to leave, so I paid (still with a tip) and left. It's really a cute little place, but should you go, I would bring cash AND ask up front how much your service will be. Better than the alternative. read more

Went here a few times and often ended up with a Thai oil instead of a stretching massage. Not very authentic decor but the owner seems Thai. My last experience involved them cancelling, moving then cancelling me again after I drove an hour through city traffic to get there. When I complained later they said 'oh thanks for telling me'. Had a deep tissue oil couples massage. The place was nice and clean, nicely decorated. The room was nice but too bright. The massage itself was good, but I wouldn't call it relaxing. It was more like massage therapy. My therapist was extremely good (especially with hand/foot massage) but again I wouldn't say it was relaxing by any means. My body was contorted into weird positions and sometimes it was even painful (that good type pain, but pain nonetheless). I would come here again but by myself and use it more like a massage therapy session. If the spa wants to improve and make it more of a "spa experience" might I suggest: * Blackout curtains * Light pressure and no contortions * Nicer smelling oil (kind of smelled like old lady perfume, maybe try some ylang ylang) * Ask client where they want focus and if they have any painful areas before starting * Sheet on top of body instead of teeny towel P.s it's cash only but I didn't see that anywhere on their site or on their flyer read more
