I received a GC for a 90 minute "signature massage" ($225 value) for my birthday. I'm not really sure how I feel about this place. Some aspects were great, others not so much.... 1) The space/people: the staff and the space was very nice. No complaints. 2) The massage: I opted for the "Traditional Thai Massage" - which is basically a slow-motion, full-body, gentle yoga wrestling match with a slight, but surprisingly strong woman. If you have not eaten within 2 hours (do not do this right after lunch like I did, omg), don't have joint issues, are quite flexible, and not ticklish, this might be good for you. Personally, I won't be picking this option again, lol. But the room was nice and if someone had warned me to not eat a big lunch prior, it might have been more enjoyable. 3) Their communication practices: this was the worst part and why I'm giving them 3 stars. If there was a warning about not booking the Thai massage too soon after a meal, it got lost in the jumble of rules, regulations, admonishments, warnings and threats all over the website. It was very off-putting and I wouldn't have booked if I didn't already have the GC that needed to be used up. After booking, I received 2 emails and 3 text messages (over 2 days!), with more long-winded rules, regulations, and threats of consequences (only 2 of the 5 messages were neutral in content or tone). I am not sure if their intention is make their potential customers feel under attack and wary, or if they just kept adding new rules and clarifications over time and lost control of how it comes across to someone receiving it, but perhaps they can hire a paralegal or a decent copywriter to re-write their website, email and text messages so it sounds less hostile and unwelcoming, while covering their numerous rules, warnings and conditions. Overall, would I pay $225 plus tax and tip for 90 minutes of massage/wrestling yoga match? NO. However, I would be open to trying them again for a different service, and I note that they have a monthly subscription pkg that seems like a pretty decent deal ($139/month for a monthly 90-minute Signature Massage instead of the $225 - as of July 2023). So who knows, I may try them again. read more

So I decided a month or so ago that I was NOT going to wallow in self-pity this Mother's Day (since my kids were unable to be with me today, on the holiday), and I was determined to treat myself to something nice that day. As fate would have it, about a month ago, I bumped into a neighbor who was just returning from a massage at this spa and she told me she goes here "all the time" and they are "wonderful". WIth such a resounding endorsement, I decided to book an appointment there and then, for Mother's Day, before they got all booked up. Online I found some package deals, so I purchased one and booked the date and time. Luckily, the weather today was great, so I walked there, not wanting to deal with traffic and parking. (I see some reviews note that there are a few complimentary parking spots in a nearby parkade, but I'm not sure where, exactly). The spa is a block from the Westin Bayshore, in the Coal Harbor area, also a block from Cardero's and close to Canada Place via the seawall. Wonderful area to walk about on a nice day, that's for sure. The receptionists greeted me promptly and, since I was early, I sat in the small waiting room. How nice to have free wi-fi! Lots of calming lighting and bamboo decor accents, as well as diffusers/humidifiers a-misting. I checked out the large bathroom; it was roomy, super-clean, well outfitted. More misters/humidifiers going. My massage lady greeted me, asking what scent of essential oil I prefer (the sheet she provided me had 6 or more choices. I opted for the lemongrass. They each supposedly have different properties). I was escorted to a small but clean room where calming spa music was playing. I was asked if I wanted the table heated (um, YES please!), and we went over my many...issues (lol). As for the actual massage, all I can say is, I don't think I've ever felt as relaxed - like, EVER. And for the first time in at least two years, I did not have a headache, neck ache and/or backache. One or more of these aches has been a constant for me, and I've not had a massage since pre-COVID, so it was such an incredible relief to be so relaxed and pain-free. I hope this feeling lasts..... The tech totally respected all the areas I requested she avoid, and she applied the perfect amount of pressure. I've never before had a massage where it wasn't too light or too hard in areas. Not once did I have to tell my massage lady to ease up on the pressure or avoid an area. She was amazing. (I totally zoned out at some points). I was really happy that I remembered to bring a hairbrush with me. I had prepaid for the massage package but I still was charged for the taxes after, and of course, the tip. So it wasn't as inexpensive as I thought it would be - but it was WORTH EVERY PENNY. They have some sort of reward program here too (I received an email after the fact, notifying me of accrued points), and lots of deals online. I think I found my new indulgence. read more

Booked a bogo spa package for $299. Massage was fantastic but they charged me for two 75 minute massages rather than what the spa package was for which included a facial. When asked they just said this is what we booked you for not the facial. Not sure who made that decision but they couldn't answer not offered a remedy. read more

This place was absolutely amazing. I took my whole family there and five of us got a traditional Thai massage this morning. It was perhaps one of the best massages I've ever had in my entire life. It is extremely clean, and therapists do an amazingly good job. You will not be disappointed. It is only a half a block from the Westin hotel. According to my boyfriend who has been getting tons of Thai massages across the US, he says Sabai Thai Spa is the best one he has had thus far!!! The therapist listened to his area of concern and focused on what he wanted her to massage! He got an Ancient Thai Massage for 90 minutes and was very pleased! The masseuse Sachi focused on his shoulders which he asked her to! She pressed on all the right notches, which was awesome! I got a Pure Serenity Package which was very pleasant as well! I was very skeptical about facial massage because I don't like other people to put weird things on my face! Therefore, I asked for the hydration option to be safe! The first 60 minutes was focused on my shoulders (20-30 mins) and the rest of my body! The remaining 30 minutes was for the facial and head massage! I felt nice after! I wish my shoulders were focused for the entire 60 minutes but I understand how hard it is to focus on one area for the entire section! I enjoyed Yamin's massage! She was quite pleasant and very attentive! On top of tipping her 20% on the credit card, I gave her a couple of $2 bills as a token of gratitude and she smiled happily! I enjoy tipping with $2 bills for some reasons! Hint: Buy Groupon or ask them to match Groupon price! My boyfriend initially purchased the Gentleman getaway package but since we wanted to get our massages at the same time, he was able to switch his to Ancient Thai Massage! The value is worth less but who cares since all he wants was the shoulder massage for 90 mins! The currency exchange rate was 0.75 USD = 1 CAD so with the Groupon discount, I ended up paying $89.25 USD before tax and tip for each of us! Location: it locates right near Westin Bayshore Vancouver so I cannot ask for a better place to get my massage! I feel like this trip is such a success!!!! read more

I recently gifted a friend with a group on for a treatment that was listed as an Original price of $277, discounted 52% for a rice of $132. Great deal I thought and a friend had mentioned she has a friend who goes often and loves the place. Pure Serenity Package - for your reference. I bought it quickly and was able to get him in right on his birthday. He was thrilled with his treatment and said it helped his neck pain immensely. BUT when I went in to pay the tax and tip I saw the same package was $129 if you booked it in the salon. I asked her if it was the same treatment as what I bought on groupon. She said it was. I was super disappointed - I guess this is false advertising? But as he was happy I didn't make a commotion in the salon and tried to contact groupon to see what their policy is but it seems that they have no control over prices. So i feel scammed. Hence not a better star eating. If I'm wrong let me know! read more

I've been going to Sabai Thai's various locations for a few years off and on because of the transient staff, but today's experience was exceptional. I booked the serenity package which is an hour massage and facial for a total of 90 mins. Upon entering you get the feeling you are in Thailand with the wood panelled walls and decor. You are greeted with a smile, asked if you'd like to visit the washroom first before being brought to your treatment room. The room is a little tight but cozy, enough room to get the job done! The spa music isn't annoying and the lighting is quite dark and relaxing. My masseuse was excellent, got the pressure just right and gave me an amazing facial. She was efficient but listened to my needs and I felt relaxed and more sore neck and back felt great! The facial does come halfway through the massage when you're flipped over onto your back. While you wait for the mask to work into your skin, she finishes massaging the legs and arms. I think I almost fell asleep and snorted! When's she's done you are given two very hot towels to towel off any excess massage oil. Just a tip, your hair will get a little oily... to top off this excellent experience with this particular aesthetician/masseuse, I was told they were having a promotion so instead of $179, it was only $119!! Yay, I love a good surprise! They also have free parking for spa goers but there are only three spaces. I can't wait to book my next treatment. read more

An incredibly serene and rejuvenating experience! I have tried many spas but Sabai is truly one of a kind. The environment and ambiance is beautiful and peaceful. Today I had a 90 minute Siam blend massage with Minami and I feel grounded, relaxed and rejuvenated. Minami is a wizard at what she does...she is incredibly skilled and intentional with every move.
