Believe it or not but I've never had Leeann chin and what the heck was I waiting for? I ordered the sesame chicken with veggie fried rice, an egg roll, and cream cheese wontons. Oh em yum. I have to say the sesame chicken was amazing! I was hesitant because usually I am a general tso's girl and they don't offer that. The egg roll was equally delicious and the cream cheese were amazing and didn't skimp on the cream cheese! Most impressive was probably the man working! I ordered 1/2 orange 1/2 Peking chicken. The Peking chicken looked like it had been sitting out for a very long time. It tasted like wet noodles. The orange chicken was OK, but lacked the orange flavor that should come through. I ordered a raspberry yogurt as well and it tasted like it was mixed with strong lemon juice. I ended up throwing it away. Overall I'm very disappointed in the direction LeeAnn Chin has gone. LeeAnn herself, if she was still with us, would barely recognize her once savory Chinese dishes. To have LeeAnn Chin when she still owned and operated it was a treat. The food was fresh; the selections were never left out until they became stale. More than that, the food was prepared by someone who really cared. Now it's simply another fast food Chinese restaurant alongside Manchu Wok and Panda Express. In from out of town and craving Chinese. I was supicious because the dining looked somewhat like a Panda. Thankfully that's where the similarity ended. Great unique menu items like bourbon chicken. I loved the tempura fried whole chicken breast and got the orange sauce instead of the lemon on the side. There's nothing like crunchy chicken dipped in the sauce as you eat it. The fried rice may well be the best ever, with mushrooms even. There's no crunchy noodles But got the spring roll to get by. The best casual Chinese I've had. Okay. Before COVID I was taking food out at least once a week. Went in last week and the service was great, but the food was, to say the least, awful. The Fried Rice was dry and tasteless; Mongolian Chicken was also dry and almost tasteless; the Thai Coconut Curry Chicken (used to be my favorite), but this time it had an awful "fishy" taste and the vegetables were mushy. This is so horribly gross. It barely resembles food. The rice is dry and my orange chicken had barely any meat. It was mainly covered in a thick batter and smothered with gorpy, overly sweet sauce. The only redeeming quality was that the green beans were decent. They are salty and limp, but the sauce isn't too bad. Their cream cheese wontons are dry on the outside with just a tiny bit of barely melted filling. I tried reheating the food the next day and the only way to revive the meal was to add a ton of soy sauce. I ended up throwing out the rice because it had already been dry when I received it, so it was practically a desert after nuking it. I didn't feel it was worth the effort to waste my calories on that. I won't be back. One of their competitors, Pei Wei Diner is equally unauthentic but at least the food is edible and has a bit more depth to it than merely super sweet and ridiculously salty. read more

I got food poisoning Monday at Edina location! I ate cheese wontons that were out for hours or left over from previous week at lunch. By 5:00 I was violently ill. There is no doubt in my mind I was poisoned. When I walked in there was no air conditioning in over 85 degree weather and the place smelled of smoke. The candied told me their "ventilation system" had gone out...no air and no door was open. I ate about 6 cheese wonton with hot mustard sauce and sweet and sour. I was craving some good chinese food and I thought this would hit the spot but it fell very short. Immediately walking into the restaurant there was a mediocre amount of people and the service was quick. I ordered orange chicken with white rice and got the very last of the chicken. Needless to say it was on the heat lamp for a little too long. It tasted very funny and the rice that accompanied it was clumpy as well. Like the other yelpers previously mentioned...this is a fast food type of place. With that said, this is one of my favorite fast food chain. I eat fairly healthy and practice portion control. With that said, fast food options are limited to begin with. Leeann Chin has a 400 calorie menu that makes decision making pretty easy. In addition, they offer 3 portion sizes to choose from....bowl, plate, and child. I'm not a child but I am a small human and don't eat a whole lot at in one sitting so the kids meal works out perfectly for me. Hm. What to say about this place. I've had my fair share of Chinese/Asian food since I've grown up on it. To start this fast food Chinese chain is clean, brightly lit, happily decorated. But it doesn't have any cozy warmth to it. There is an open kitchen and they are constantly refilling the food, which is nice, except that it takes a while to get your order since they don't cook very much in each refill portion. Many of their sauces taste the same, and definitely have the same bases. The fried types of chickens (sesame chicken, mongolian chicken, etc.) all taste very similar. Although they do use fresh ingredients, the flavor just is a bit much (saltiness) and isn't very authentic at all. The prices aren't bad, but I'd probably go to a Panda Express instead for slightly more. The people who work here though are friendly and quick to do their job. I was offered a free soda for having to wait for my to-go order. Parking is also pretty hard here during lunch time. read more

Lovin it! If I could eat as much of this as I wanted and not gain a pound, I would. I love Lee Ann Chin's. The food of course is not authentic but who cares when it tastes like this. They have a fairly large selection of entrees that range from orange chicken (which is awesome!) to a couple beef dishes that I have never ventured to solely because I had the Peking chicken one day and have never looked back! They offer fried rice but it differs from other places in that there is none of the egg, carrots and peas in it. Instead it has mushrooms, bean sprouts and onion ( I know that I am missing something still just not sure what. Just another excuse to go back!). The lo mien noodles are alright but not the best ever. They offer white rice too of course. They have many appetizers too! The cream cheese puffs are a must! Going in and not having at least one is just unheard of. My mother and sister love the oyster wings and have been known to have those as their entree. This location has frozen yogurt too. Ask for a sample and they will definitely oblige. I personally am not a bit fan but will say that it is very light and would be great on a hot summer day. read more

I want to love this place it's born and raised in Minnesota but I can't love it. I've given it a lot of chance the food is okay sometimes but the staff is horrible service times are awful and about one-third of the time the food is old and stale. No one seems to care. I recommend the Panda it's much better. I just can't get over how slow and inefficient the staff is and how little they care about the quality of the food they serve. and whatever you do don't order food delivery from this place cuz you'll be waiting over an hour they don't even put in the order until the driver shows up. This makes no sense the food is already prepared sitting out it's already on the bar they could just put on a plate and let it sit there on the bar with the other food that's already sitting out. it's not going to get any colder or older it's just moved from the buffet been to the play waiting on the driver. They don't seem to care that the customer who's ordered takeout is a customer if there's a rush to take out customer has to wait for everyone in the store to be served before the takeout order is filled. read more

This restaurant is terrible. The service and the food was poor. The noodles were extremely salty and the rice was incrediby burnt. I came with my extended family after a long day and hoped for some time to just unwind and have some food with family. However, this most definetly did not happen. When we complained to a staff member she shrugged and just kept walking. We asked to speak to the manager and after waiting a long we had to stop the manager when she was walking by because nobody told her. When she finally came she was very passive about the whole ordeal. She said she would do something about it though, so again waited. She said she would give us refund but (what do you know!) that did not happen. Apparently the system was down, so instead she gave us some measley coupons for an entree next time we come, which will NOT be happening anytime soon. I ordered lemon chicken through door dash and it was the worst thing ever! It didn't taste like lemon .. The chix was cut up sloppily ... It was hard like it was made 3 days ago. The Rice portion was miniscule maybe the door dash guy was hungry.. I don't know but i will never go here again! read more
