I came to the nail salon with a friend to get a manicure and a pedicure. It was my first time here. I was more than satisfied with the service and the salon was clean. They had a lot of colors to choose from! I do not remember the man that did my nails. but he did a great job! My manicure looks like no-chip! I was not rushed and the prices are affordable. Place is very clean, very friendly staff, friendly with kids, parking always available. My 3-year old daughter comes with me too and she loves the staff. My experience today was bad enough that I had to share how it went. I really wish I'd checked their reviews before I went, but I walked by and had extra time so I went in blind. I got a regular mani/pedi. First, the people were clearly not concerned about appearing 'professional' in customer service, but they were at least friendly. Now onto the service..... My pedi was done better than my fingers, but some toes were filed unevenly or crooked. Another major concern is I never saw anyone cleaning the foot tubs in my two hours there. (It's possible they were just waiting til later but that didn't seem the case.). My mani was absolutely terrible. After filing the nails not very cleanly, the technician began ripping up my cuticles. She really dug into them and pulled at things painfully. It's been a month since my last manicure so I was trying to be patient and figure maybe my cuticles were in worse shape than usual. But that wouldn't have been an excuse if my fingers had been ignored for a decade! I let her know multiple times when she did something that was painful and she responded with a caring, "I know." She didn't change her approach, though. My cuticles are torn apart. At one point, she shrugged and apologized because two of the nails were bleeding so much that she asked me to rinse them off in the sink. She wasn't a new technician, she wasn't in a rush, and she didn't seem to think it was bad to have ripped me up so much. I can't understand that since tonight as I look at my fingers, I can see 6 fingers with dried blood under the cuticle and two of my fingers are outright painful. I'm sure you're wondering why I let her do this...she was very nice and I was having trouble screwing up the courage to make a scene about it. I did make her use a lighter touch, but that didn't help much. I really just wanted to stay zen as I took the time to 'spoil myself'......walking out, though I swore to myself that I'd never come back to this place. Proceed with caution if you do. read more

I never had a problem with Lee Nails. The nail salon across the street by the library is very awful. I've been going to Lee Nail Salon for the last 4 1/2 years and never had a problem with any of the ladies. They've always do a good job doing a manicure and pedicure. Last year in fact they did a total renovation of the salon and it looks much better than it did before. I took my mom here for her first pedicure. It was bright, clean, and relaxing, everything I was looking for! The staff is friendly and they have a nice selection of colors. It's nice they are open on Sundays as well. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they have a couple of young girls there, probably daughters of someone on staff. They are sweet, and offered us cookies and water. For some reason though the older girl (probably like 12 years old) was sitting at the front desk. Came in as a new client. Took my mother and my little daughter to treat them to mani/ pedi. First of all- overpriced. Service and result is not worth the money. My little one just get nail polish and they charged her for full manicure - without doing anything more than putting polish on her nails. I had been going to a place in Evanston, for 3 years and the nail tech I used left the facility. I have been searching for someone to do my nails like the lady I used to go to. I went several places and I was not happy with my nails. I get my nails done every two weeks faithfully, so I was desperate to find some to do a good job. My daughter recommend Jenny at Lee Nails. I went there, it was nice and friendly establishment. Jenny did a wonderful job on my nails, even better than the lady I used to go to. I think Lee Nails is a wonderful asset to Des Plaines. I feel like they are always nice, know my name, and fulfill any requests that I have. I was going to my Bachelorette Party in Vegas and Nina had her sister google some nail art designs, which I loved. I personally feel that they have a very clean, professional, and have a very talented staff there. I will not go anywhere else. I recommed Lee Nails to everyone because I believe in sending business to places that deserve it. I would feel comfortable with anyone helping me with my nails and I plan to bring my bridesmaids there to get my nails done for my wedding. Yes ~ this place is awful. I have given it a few chances because it's within walking distance and I can't always commit to an appointment at a better salon. The owner thinks she's too good to wait on most people so she only waits on people she seems to know and like. Even when she has no customers!! So she'd rather make you wait. It's incredible. I don't like men doing my nails. They're just too rough and nick & cut you. I needed a pedicure and the owner, who was doing NOTHING went in the back and sent some man out to do my pedicure. He was rude & rough. I have very sensitive skin so I asked him not to use the exfoliating scrub on my legs. Well he put it on one anyway. My leg immediately started to burn & I tried to wash it off as quickly as I could. No apology! The next thing I know, he's putting the scrub on the top of my feet! More burning sensation. (I guess because I didn't say "not on top of the feet" either, he didn't understand. Language barrier? Then I was stuck with him for a gel set. He burned my nail beds down nearly to the skin while trying to remove the old gel fil with a nail drill. I told him to stop. He brings me a bowl full of acetone & orders me to put my hands in to soak off the old gel fill. I REFUSED! I told him how other technicians remove old gel fill & tips. He knew how to do it but was to lazy to do it in the first place. I told him I was leaving but would be back later when one of the women could do my nails. He became verrrrry insulted and said he had been doing this for ten years. I was pressed for time and against my better judgement, let him finish. My cuticles were so painful by the time he was done. I agree that this salon needs a good cleaning and disinfecting. I am fortunate not to have been infected there. I have been there at night while employees sit out in the open and eat carry-out food while obnoxious odors waft about. Also, the (owner's?) two little girls do not belong there especially at night. The last thing I want to listen to after a hard day at work is two little girls running around and shrieking for hours. On whole, like most Lee Nail Salons, this one is very unprofessional. Please don't even get me started on technicians talking on the phone and/or texting while taking care of you. And speaking in a mother tongue in front of your customer. We know you can't be saying anything nice about us!! (Ask Elaine from Seinfeld!) Talking on the phone and/or texting while taking care of a customer is simply rude in any culture. I have been coming to this place for over ten years on and off. I have checked out a lot of different nail salons around here as well as in the city and I always come back here. Just like any other place they are very busy so it's a courtesy to schedule an appointment and if you don't you will wait just like any where else, doctors office, hair place etc. What I love the most is that they are very clean and all the instruments are sterilized in a machine that medical professionals use, also they have a huge selection of colors not only for no chip. Inside has been redecorated and their massage chairs are great quality you actually feel like you are getting a massage. Pedicure includes a scrub and hot towels which they don't charge you extra for like other places do and they really take their time on manicure or pedicure, if you don't like something they fix it right away without a problem. They offer other services such as eyebrow waxing etc. and they really take their time to make sure you are happy. Prices are very reasonable for north suburbs and staff is very nice and friendly. Five stars without a doubt, definitely coming back! read more

Definitely not happy with my pedicure ! Tiffany gave me attitude during my entire pedicure and was rude , cold and very aggressive . She literally made me scream while cutting into my cuticles ! I will NOT Be back !!!! She was in a crappy mood for God Knows what reason ! Also, she seemed like she was profiling clients . If a Caucasian person walked in she immediately greeted them but when a Non Caucasian walked in there was no HELLO at all ! Felt like we entered the wrong place ! Worst manicure I've ever had. The woman was rude when I told her she hurt me. ( She cut my finger when cutting my cuticles.) It's also the worst quality manicure I have ever had. She kept painting more and more coats on the same nail, despite me asking her not to put so much polish on. I knew it would chip quickly and she should have known too. I wasn't going to write this review because the guy that did my acrylics was actually really nice but i feel like I should let others know that unless you want money sucked out of your wallet, i would not recommend going here. first of all I got a pedicure and full set of acrylics so my total should've been $50 or a little bit more but not $60. I didn't say anything because I didn't check their prices beforehand so I wasn't sure. When I got home I went on their website to check the prices and it said $25 for a pedicure and $25 and up for acrylics. However that means that they charged me $35 for acrylics and I did not get a special shape or design, I just got square nails and regular nail polish. And $35 is how much gel nails cost not acrylics. I wouldn't be as upset if they were done good but the next day one of the nails broke! So I went back to get it fixed and they charged me $5 for ONE nail and it was my pinky. and also my pedicure was terrible, it was unevenly painted and crooked. read more

I have been to Lee Nails perhaps 5-10 times since I moved to Des Plaines. Many times, even when I make an appointment, I have to wait 1/2 hour or more to be helped. I decided once to receive a gel fill and manicure and I was there 3+ hours. Their utensils are not clean, their work space is not clean and there are remnants of other customers nails on the counter. The women and men are not friendly and the customer service is lacking. The last time I went, I had a man who had no clue how to do a gel set or fill do my nails. What a mess! Less than a week later I had to have them redone at a different salon because his work was lumpy and sloppy and the nails were too thick. I also received a finger infection due to lack of cleanliness and sterilization. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

I brought my 86 year old mom in for her first pedicure ever, they were very helpful. When I called to make the appointment they told me they reserve the end pedicure chair for elderly. It was easy for her to get in and out of the chair. Katie was extremely patient and nice to her throughout the pedicure. The only complaint I would have about this salon is that the nail colors are all over the place. Not sorted by color or brand. Very hard to pick out a color when they are all over the place. Great place to get your nails done. Nina does the best pink and whites around and they last up to 3 sometimes 4 weeks. They have little trays for pedicures and all their tools are sanitized for each client. They have really changed the inside I think others will really like it. read more

I can honestly say this was by far the worst nail experience I've ever had. Went in yesterday to get my acrylic's filled. The guy asked if I wanted to try a gel fill, so I did. First the place is horribly dirty, children's socks laying on the tables, dirty cloths on the tables, his hands still had old nail polish all over them, the chairs were stained. The fill was awful, you can still see the line of the old nail. You had to use already used brushes to wash off your nails. Then he charged me more than what he orginally told me. Then one of their children was their screaming at the top of her lungs for her mother and they did nothing to calm her down so I had to listen to that for a solid 20 mins. Then when I'm waiting for my nails to dry a little he decides to go calm this child down, but and does my top coat just in the middle of the store. He didn't even bother to have me come sit back down at his stations. read more

I have gone here two times. The first time, I went in and asked for a pedicure. I was told five minutes. After fifteen, I left. It seemed obvious to me that there were many people in line before me. I went again today (made an appointment). The girl who did my nails was AWFUL! She did not understand what I wanted for my nails. I had been growing them out forever, and she cut them short! When I explained what I wanted, she pretty much said it was too late. NO apology. Then, she had the audacity to pause my manicure to TEXT on her phone at least 5 or 6 times. If I was her, I would had offered me a free service since she messed up from the beginning. The place was also DIRTY, the towel my hands were on for the manicure was dirty, and I saw her rinse off the cuticle scissors and tools with water ONLY, wrap them up in a paper towel, and put them in her drawer for the next person. I tipped her $1, and will NEVER go back. I never write reviews either, but was so mad to have made the mistake to give this business even a DIME! OH - also... one of the worker's daughters were there (since it was after school-time), they were like 6 and 8, and were running around, sitting in the pedicure chairs, and doing homework at the manicure stations! I saw that the room where they do waxing had one table/chair, which was covered in the kids' backpacks and books... I felt like I was in a dirty daycare center. read more
