An incredibly helpful owner and a well supplied store. This is how I remember the old days when the owner was more than just a clerk.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here last night after making reservations on OpenTable. We…read morewere warmly greeted by the host who acknowledged our event and seated us in the back overlooking the brew room, very nice. It was my first visit to your restaurant though my wife has been here before with friends. Chad was our server. He pleasantly explained the drink and dining menus and took good care of us all evening. My bride had her favorite drink, The French Martini, and you guys nailed it for her! I was very happy with the 2025 Pils. Dinner was amazing, Skirt steak for her, brisket for me with Yukon potatoes following salads for both of us. The quality and taste of the food was great and makes us want to come back and sample other dishes. We received great service and a nice complimentary glass of champagne (with Ho-Ho's) to finish our celebration. At the end of the evening we received a big surprise when Chad came over with news that we had no bill to pay as my wife's daughter and her husband had secretly called to pay the tab! So thoughtful of them to treat us and to top off a memorable meal and milestone in our lives.

Went to Hardware in North Aurora and came away with mixed feelings…read more The good: ambiance is great and the drinks were on point. Had the Marilyn saison and a solid dark beer. Bar program is strong. The short rib pot pie was a straight up winner. Rich, comforting, and not trying to be anything other than good food done right. The bone marrow lost me. Cooked well, but buried under too many microgreens and then oddly topped with tortilla chip strips. No smokiness either. It felt more confused than cohesive. Where it really started to miss was the overall approach. A lot of "the chef intends this..." type explanations. It ends up feeling like the food insists upon itself instead of just letting you enjoy it. That's the bigger issue. This place exists in a space where I don't think most people want to meet it. Not casual enough to relax, not refined enough to justify the performance. Bottom line: good drinks, great pot pie, but the experience tries a little too hard.

Olson's Ace Hardware - Love the double layer look, clean and elevated look.

Darn, I really want to shop local and support small businesses! I could have driven to Menards, but…read moreI chose to come here tonight to pick up garden supplies like coir and grass seed as well as deck cleaner for a project I'd hoped to start tonight. Both staffers in the aisles were helpful and friendly, pointed me in the right direction for what I needed. I headed to check out and the total should have come to about $75 minus the two sales which were advertised on the shelf: $5 off one of the grass seeds if you are an Ace member (we are) and $6 off another grass seed, also need to be a member. I entered my ACE number and the clerk confirmed it. I should have saved $11 tonight, but the advertised discount didn't show up at the register, full price only. I asked the clerk and I pointed to the two sales tags hanging in front of the products on the shelf. She called the manager and explained that the sales were not showing up, but then we realized it is still August 30th and the sales tags' say "September". So the manager said I would have to COME BACK in two days if I wanted to get the sales price, even though the tags on the shelf advertised the sale. I suggest they don't put up the September sales tags until it is actually September if they are not going to honor the prices that are being advertised. This will most likely happen to the customers tomorrow as well, August 31st. I don't fault the clerk at all. She tried her best to request that I get the sales price, but the manager was firm. Nope, come back in September. What the heck? I will never come back, actually. I will keep driving the 7 miles out to Menards where they honor the prices they advertise.

The more things change the more they remain the same? Hopeful with the complete store revision…read more However not today with flashbacks to the old ways. Letting an old man load 6 bags of mulch and 2 topsoil by himself not encouraging. Step it up please!!

This ACE has repeatedly saved me time and money by suggesting better solutions for home repair. The selection is surprisingly good also and usually has at least a couple of solutions to every home repair problem. Just ask and they will tell you the best solution! On one occasion I had called a professional plumber who declared my kitchen plumbing problem "too hard" with the plumber complaining about the depth of the sink and the relatively high location of the single drain pipe (for three drains). The plumber then slipped out the back, leaving me to solve my own problem. I took a trip to the ACE and the associate at this ACE spent over an hour helping me solve this plumbing problem, with the ACE associate placing more than a dozen plumbing parts on the floor in the proper order... I went home and by the end of the day it was working. On another occasion, I went to this ACE thinking I would buy some WD-40 to loosen rusted screws in order to remove a broken screen door. The ACE associate showed me the WD-40 but then suggested an alternate product "PB Blaster" which I purchased on their recommendation. I returned home and applied the PB Blaster to the rusted screws on the screen door. Several screws were rusted on tight and resisted my efforts to loosen them. The instruction for the PB Blaster advises waiting a few minutes for the Blaster to soak in, so it seemed like a good time to take a lunch break. I returned from lunch to find the rusted screws popped out, and the screen door on the ground. Wow, just wow. So, if there is such a thing as a home repair magician, these guys are it! Highly recommended.

I bought some 3/4 of boards and wanted to have it pre cut. I asked the register and had the guy paged twice. I waisted 23 mins for the guy to show up. Also the tool rental was great. One time i rented a carpet doctor vac. It worked really good. And the 50lb electric jack hammer worked right for my project. In general the store is great. They carry almost all tool brands for diy repairs. Great store.

I absolutely hate coming to this Home Depot. I try to avoid it at all costs. The worst problem is…read morethat they have almost no lumber carts. I will walk in to a store with no carts then I will have to walk back out, Search the parking lot, or follow another customer out to get their cart. Part of the problem is that their staff uses the few lumber carts they have for storage. The second big complaint I have with them is whenever you try to talk to customer service about any issue you're having you get a runaround. You will be placed on hold, transferred three or four times and be 20 minutes before they tell you there's nobody to talk to. I hate the store with a passion. I generally drive way out of my way to go to any other Home Depot. One star because it won't let me give zero. The only bright spots in the store are Tanisha and Rosie in the pro department. The manager of the store needs to go visit Oakbrook Terrace or Downers Grove. I never have trouble getting carts at either of those two stores. I know I'm not the only one who has this issue at the Northlake Home Depot. I'm more than one occasion, I followed somebody out to the parking lot to get their cart, came and loaded the cart with my own purchases, and when I went to another aisle to get some blades or something, I come back to find somebody has offloaded my cart onto the floor and taken it for themselves because they can't find a cart either. ORDER SOME DAMN CARTS! Update. I really appreciate the effort that was made to get some carts. When I came in today, there were plenty of carts. Quite a few new ones even. Thank you for listening.
