We were happy with our vet at Block House creek. But since we live in Leander, it was a new business, we decided to try to support a local business. Our dog needed a tooth removed. Our dog had this procedure done before so we knew what was involved as well as the cost. I phoned Leander Vet clinic and asked about prices for shots and to remove the tooth. I was told the shots were $95, which was $25 cheaper than our vet. What they don't tell you is that they also charge $20 for mandatory checkup, which is now virtually the same price. They quoted me a price of $25 to $50 at the most for the tooth extraction. Wow! I thought this is great! My husband dropped the dog off and clearly marked on the signed paper and told them in person that he did NOT want our dog's teeth cleaned, which we just had done last year and couldn't afford right now for $160.00 We did ask for extra pain medicine for our dog, but not the $160 teeth cleaning. When we picked the dog up, the total cost was $433.00!!!! So be careful and ask for an itemized estimate before you have this clinic do any work for you. Presurgical exam $20 Capstar $ 8 Dental Prophylaxis $160 Anesthesia $45 Tooth extraction $95 (remember we were told $50 at most) I thought this was the total cost at the time) shots $105 We paid $85 the week before at this place for an exam and two bottles of drops. They did admit they made a mistake about the tooth cleaning, one of the receptionists said I can adjust that for you, but after she went in the back and talked to the vet, her story changed. I don't mind paying for services rendered, but be honest when you make a mistake and be honest about charges up front. I would have probably still used Leander Vet Clinic, but I feel their practices are bait and switch. So be careful, we will never go back. read more

I have two dogs that I have brought to Morehead. One is a puppy, one is close to 10. I have given this place three chances to prove themselves. The staff, including Morehead himself, lack basic customer service and communication skills. Morehead will try to sneak in procedures without discussing them with you. No communication, and customer service. Then I questioned the tech because I actually read what she's trying to get me to sign--as her back is to me-, she became short and rude with me. And she rolled her eyes. No one told me about the procedures listed on the paper, which is why I asked. She ended up leaving after my second question and her eye rolling, without saying another word about it. Again, lack of communication and customer service. The lady at the front desk doesn't communicate charges or anything for that matter. So, I asked about them and I inquired about an additional need. She didn't even look at me as she gave me another smart ass answer. Like I am supposed to know ? Third person, lack of communication and customer service. I just wanted to be treated respectfully and communicated to. This was not the first time; this was my third visit. This place is a joke. I will not step foot back in this place. I will make sure to tell people about it too. read more

While the care was good, I couldn't help but feel that the doctor was telling us things about our dogs condition so that we could enlist him in surgery for a 'tumor' on our dogs leg (fatty pocket) "If it were my dog, I'd have it removed right away" (cha ching) and of course the dogs "will need extensive dental care that we can provide" (cha ching) and "that small little bump on the elbow.. Another tumor!", "we can remove that also", (cha ching) "Oh, and we don't offer prescriptions so that our customers can choose where to buy their pets meds". (cha ching) And of course "the dogs need all their shots every year mandatory" (cha ching) "and you'll need more than just heart worm prevention, you need flea control". (cha ching) (Dogs have never had a flea issue) Sad to say, we thought we found a good Vet, but we've only found a Vet who's only interest is lining his pockets with our cash. . read more

Having worked with animals most of my life, I have a decent knowledge of animals. I have a very large, dog-aggressive dog that had a swollen ear. When I took my dog in Dr. Morehead was very good with him and careful with him as well. (My dog is a big baby.) The Easotic was very easy to use with a challenging dog and took care of the infection very quickly. The staff is caring and helpful. I had checked prices before I went to Leander Vet Clinic and from what I can tell, prices are about the same as everyone else's or a bit less. Good pet care from caring people makes the reasonable price even better. read more

I'd leave negative stars if I could. I gave this place multiple times to redeem themselves. The first contact I ever had was on the phone. The lady was rude and snippy. I had the same experience the first time I walked in and every other time after that. The girls at the desk don't acknowledge you or that you are waiting if they're busy or there's a line. Then when you do interact it's unprofessional. They talk loudly about other customers including gossip, names and addresses of said people. The vet was examining my dog. Found an ear infection and wanted to "treat" it. Well what he prescribed made my sweet dog DEAF. That's right... Could hear NOTHING. In a panic I took the dog to another vet and he said that what LVC had given my dog as a prescription ear drop was known to cause deafness.. It was rare but it happened. Hmm that would have nice to know from the vet.."hey if your dog exhibits signs of deafness come back right away" etc. anyway the new vet flushed the ears and gave a new medicine to help hearing MAYBE return in the next 6 months. My poor baby. Also while there he said my dog has gained 6 pounds in 2 months are therefore needed some special diet dog food.( at the new vet they confirmed that was a LIE bc my pet weighed the exact same they always had when re checked) they also prescribed a couple of costly procedures we don't even need to cash in even more. Terrible all around!!!:( read more

This is an update to my review a month ago. Our dog that we had previously brought in was getting better but took a terrible turn for the worse and became horribly sick. When I called, obviously very upset, the ladies I talked to (I had called more than once) were incredibly kind. They told me to bring her in and that they would make time to see her when we got there. They saw her right away when we arrived. Our dog didn't make it, she had to be put down. It was such a sad, traumatic experience and everyone was so kind. read more

Linda at the front desk is one of the rudest people I have ever met. I can't believe that is who they chose to be the face of their practice. She wasn't warm and greeting. I will not ever go back here. read more

I just left the Leander Vet Clinic and am so furious with their fees! My 6 year old dog has had previous ear infections, therefore, I am familiar with the price of this type of service. Our regular vet is in Austin and we have been using the same vet for 8 years (our older dog is 8 years old) and we have been more than pleased with their services. I thought since we live in Leander, and our dog needed to get in right away and we didn't have the time to go into Austin, we would give Leander Veterinary Clinic a try. I called to make an appointment and asked how much the doctors visit was, they said $40.00. I thought, Great! Seems reasonable. I take her to the vet today and they diagnosed her with the usual ear infection, they decide to flush her ears and order me to come back for a follow up. While in the doctors office, I am thinking to myself that some of the procedures they are doing does not seem like what I am used to, but different doctor different practice. When I go to check out, my bill is $146.34! I am beyond floored! I have NEVER had my dogs ear infection, vet visit and treatment cost me that much! I will NEVER go back to them and will readjust my hectic schedule to go see our normal vet at Balcones Animal Hospital on McNeil Road. I will do my best to make sure I spread the word to everyone that I know this place is overpriced. For a practice that is in a new location in hopes of expanding their business, they will need to rethink their business practice or they will not last! I WILL NEVER GO BACK! Thank you for taking care of Mama Mia! I cannot believe how good she feels after her dental work! She is eating her soft food and is fine! And, thank your staff for loving on her! Also, thanks for recommending the sensitive skin and stomach food; her itchy, flaky, dry skin is all healed. read more

Amazing staff, great communication, takes very good care of our dogs and honestly the prices are great!

I will Not be coming back to this Place! I took my puppies to get tails docked and dew clawed earlier this yr and they charged me $40 for the first and $20 each additional, and i was ok But the second time i went with my next litter they charged me $50 for the first and $25 each additional. I asked Why and if the price went up? The receptionist said no and went to ask someone at the back, and when she came back to the front with another lady, they both looked at the system to see why and then decided to say, oh yes is that this time we charged you for the check up and last time they didn't, witch i didn't fall for and they had to change the price because i never ask for a exam! These people need ask before they decided to do something on someones PET! They NEED TO GET THEIR SH^% TOGETHER ! read more

Our pup goes to see Dr. Morehead and his staff about every 6 months. He loves going here and we have always had such a good experience. I was nervous taking him this last time because I had to go without my husband and he is usually the one who handles our dog's vet care. They assured me that our pup is healthy and that some of the issues we were having with him are normal. Dr. Morehead took the time out to talk to me which I appreciated. It was a full clinic and I knew he was busy. All the prices I have been quoted have been the same when we went to pay so I'm not sure why some people are having those experiences. Vet care can be expensive but I don't think they are more than any other clinic. Actually some prices comparisons I've done have been the same or more. We actually live in Austin so I thought maybe we could find somewhere closer but it turns out we don't mind the drive for the care he gets! You can tell they are a family run business and I like that. You don't feel like just another number. They remember you and your pet and they go the extra mile. read more

We had a vet in Round Rock but when we moved to Leander we needed to find a closer one. Took my dog and cat here and it was HORRIBLE! First off my usually excited and friendly puppy was scared to even go in the place (clue #1). Then, they had no idea why I was coming in, even though they had all the paper work from the previous vet. I had to tell them that my dog needed her next bordatella shots and they said she didn't so I said to look at her records and "oh, I guess she does". (clue #2) So they took my cat first and I said I wanted her nails trimmed which they didn't do but still charged me $12 for (clue #3). Then they took my dog in the back, I thought to weigh her but they were gone for a while. When they came back, she ran behind me tail between her legs and would not even look at the technician. I was all "what happened?" and the guy said that she didn't like the rectal swab. Ok, I have always brought a fecal sample for the vet when they ask for it. They never just swab the dog without the owner's consent! You violated my dog, no wonder she freaked! (clue #4) I have spend 30 minutes just talking with my previous vet, and I mostly dealt with her, not the nurses. Here, though, I saw the vet for maybe 5 minutes and all he had to say was that everything looks good. Seemed like he didn't even want to be there. (clue #5) So, needless to say, I will be returning to my vet in Round Rock. I would rather drive the 30 minutes than take my pets here. AVOID this place!! read more
