Caveat: I did not buy the LeafFilter gutter protectors. This is my experience with the company. I was recently pitched by Leaf Filter to install gutter guards. The salesman was very good! After his 45 minute sales pitch, he offered to do the work for an astronomical price ($17K) and then gradually came down to a price which still seemed expensive ($5.1K), but reasonable in light of his slick sales strategy. I accepted this because I hadn't done my research. When the sub contractor came to do the work (for which he would be paid $400), he pointed out that there was a gap between some of the gutters and the roof and mentioned that that would have be fixed first. He also pointed out that he couldn't get to the highest gutters without doing damage to the roof because he didn't have the right ladder. When I pointed this out to Leaf Filter, they wanted me to sign a waiver. That was my way out and I decided not to go that route. After doing some research, I learned that the company is notorious for these high pressure sales tactics which many people fall for. I think they are selling an okay product, but, after doing some research, I think it's overpriced. It's also questionable if these gutter guards work in the long-term. I read that leaves and debris can gather on top of the gutter guards over time making them ineffective. The bottom line: even if you install a leaf guard--and you actually have trees that drop leaves and other debris on the roof--your gutters will likely still need to be serviced! So, the conclusion I've come to is that gutter cleaning is just one of the necessary expenses involved in owning a home that's surrounded by trees. Of course, you could do it yourself if you have the proper equipment, but if you have 3 floors and steep roofs, like I do, you might want to leave it up to the professionals. read more

I honestly normally avoid writing negative reviews about companies, but given the cost of this project and the issues that resulted, I feel it's important to warn others. I paid around $5,000 to Leaf Filter not only to install gutter guards, but also for a full assessment of my roof and gutters, including repairing or replacing any damaged or faulty sections. I was also told that if any issues arose in the future, they would return and take care of them. Unfortunately, the installation process itself was a major red flag. The first installer got into an argument with my neighbor, shouted at my wife, and left before completing the job. LeafGuard did acknowledge this and offered a small discount, then sent another installer to finish the work. I blame myself in hindsight for even allowing them to finish the job, I should have just cancelled the work then. Once winter arrived, serious problems began. A lot of water started leaking above our front stairs, creating large amounts of ice on the steps -- a significant safety hazard. We have lived in this home for over 20 years and have NEVER experienced ice buildup like this. While it was a harsh winter, the issue was clearly related to the installation as we found out later. Leaf Filter sent someone out to inspect the issue, but I was essentially told there was nothing they could do. I was told I would receive a call from a manager, but no one bothered to follow up with me. Ultimately, I had to hire another company to correct the problems. They literately had to remove all of the Leaf Filter system from the front of my house in order to fix the issue, which cost me an additional several thousand dollars more out of pocket. For a company that promotes itself as a premium, guaranteed solution, this experience was extremely disappointing. i got my gutters installed in August of 2025. In February of 2026, a thunderstorm came and actually ruined my gutters. So, I called regarding warranty since these were allegedly the best, strongest gutters out there and was told I would have to pay $700 to get a replacement to my damaged gutter. We had a blockage in our downspout and rain water would spill over. So contacted Leaf Filter and they came out to check out the gutters. I told them I wanted to put the filters on all the gutters. Got a quote and he added additional information in the notes section. Well we got talking and I didn't pay much attention, come to find out he placed in the notes just to have the Florida room done. That's only 20 feet. So, when the installation was being done I asked about the other gutters he advised that he was instructed to do only that section. So for $1,400 we only got 20 feet. I contacted the company that day they took a message and to this day they refuse to contact me back. Once we got the 1st rain pieces of metal from the install came down the down spout. This is an open and honest review based on experience and not emotion. We were approached by a LeafFilter Rep at Lowe's. She set up an appointment with a salesman that met us at our home. I am not blaming the salesman, but I am upset with the training and tactics that give their sales people to use on customers. The guy took measurements for gutter guards, and worked up a "sticker shock" price, and when when we balked at the price he offered us a 30% discount, and told us that this price was only good if we signed now. I should have refused!!! The original quote was about $18,000, and the reduced quote was about $11,000. I now regret accepting their offer. I spoke to a local roofing company 2 weeks later and they were shocked at the high price, stating that they could have installed the same or similar product of equal or better quality for around $4000. As far as the installer for the product, he was exceptional. Very honest and professional. He did a great job. Do not waste your money. I got these a year ago. they came out twice because the corner of the house was still leaking. I have been out of time and working a lot. I noticed it was still leaking in that corner the other day so I called them and they told me I would have to pay $95 for a service call. I told I was not because it was never corrected to begin with. She said because it has been a year I have to pay the service call. Service from LeafFilter was fine. Product works I guess how it should? We assumed from what the sales person said, we would never have to pay for gutter cleaning again. If the gutter clogs, then leaf filter will clean the gutters for free. We were told leaves and debris would slide off the filters, well that is not true, the debris just sit on top of the filter and keep water from getting into the gutter. Not real pleased with the product. We should have read more about the details of what's covered or not. We were under the impression from the sales person that we would never have to clean gutters again. We requested bids for gutter cleaning and gutter guards on Angi's List (now Service Pros) and received several responses. One was from Leaf Filter. We made an appointment and their salesperson, Clark E. arrived on time. He took some measurements and then sat down with us and his binder of information. He went through a thorough presentation about Leaf Filter, their product, their ratings on Consumer Reports, where the product is manufactured, how long the company has been in business, the warranty is transferable, there is a no clog guarantee, etc. etc. We had no doubt that most or all of those facts were true. He used the "tried and true" sales tactic of asking us if we were comfortable with the product and company, and if so, were we ready to sign. We became suspicious when he did some calculations and presented us with a price of $9,462. He asked us if that price was in the ballpark of what we expected, and we honestly stated that it was not a huge surprise, but that we had a few other companies coming out and would make a decision after talking to them. He asked who else we were talking to, and implied that most of the smaller companies would probably not be in business long enough to cover their warranties, and that their products were inferior. Who else we're talking to is not his business. We also made it clear that we were not willing to make a decision that day. He then implied that that price would be good until August 31. He asked us if either one was a veteran or senior, my husband is a veteran, so then he added a 10% discount and dropped the price to $8,515. We told him we still needed time to talk about it, and would not make a decision today. Then he brought up some coupons that we might have seen in the mail or online, he "wouldn't make us look for them", but that added another 20% discount, bringing the cost down to $6,812. Again, we said we needed to talk about it. We often tell salespeople that we've had a couple of experiences where we agreed on something too quickly, and ended up regretting it. It's our way of trying to be nice before we tell them no. He then seemed to be questioning our 47 year marriage and why did we have to discuss everything before making a decision. We had already silently agreed via text message that we were not going to do business with this guy under any circumstances. It was at this point that he did some more quick calculations and asked us "What if we could do the job tomorrow for something around $2,400, which is essentially at cost?" We said no. He then asked what would we have to lose if we agreed to that. I lost it then, remained polite, but told him he was really becoming extremely pushy, and that we were not going to agree to anything today. He said something to the effect of, "Well, I didn't ask for this appointment", slammed his book shut and left very abruptly (thank goodness). I hope anyone considering getting a quote from Leaf Filter reads this and all the other similar reviews. There are a lot of vulnerable and trusting people (and there's nothing wrong with that) out there who might just agree to that first bid. I've attached photos of the Leaf Filter bid and one we received from a smaller, local company (who we are probably going to go with). We had a system installed the spring of 2023. I had the company come back and look at the install immediately after it was completed because it was poorly done and installed incorrectly. They assured me that it would hold up. The entire system has fallen from our property, causing A LOT of property damage. You can clearly see how the gutters were installed by hanging a 1x6 board with 1.5 inch screws. That was clearly a mistake on the installers part. I knew it was incorrect but the company refused to fix it and assured us all was good. I called for this to be remedied again after this episode and they refused to look at. They would send an installer out for $95 service fee to give me an estimate to reinstall new gutters. Worst service and product I have ever dealt with. Beware! The $95 service fee that I was being charged for someone to come and look at the thousands of dollars worth of damage to my property due to a poor install was refused. Caveat Emptor when it comes to Leaf Filter. Had their "system" installed a little over a year ago. The salesperson told me that they remove the gutters, clean them and install their leaf filter system. The craftsmanship was horrible. For what they charged me I could have bought brand new gutters with filters. I ended up replacing all my gutters for 2/3 the cost of what I ended up paying them. Never again. Updating: We were originally quoted $2800 to simply come out and clean out all of our gutters and downspouts. I quickly denied that and inquired about 3 specific downspouts that were the problem areas and agreed to an ESTIMATE of $800 dollars to clean out, reinforce, and reseal all 3 downspouts. I never received any type of paper invoice nor digital invoice for this. A contractor comes out and checks our system, and found that the only area of concern was one elbow joint that he had to clean out. He didn't reinforce anything, nor did he reseal anything. I was still forced to pay $800 dollars for this, even though 70% of the estimate was not done. I've since called, emailed, and message customer service, and eventually got on the phone with someone named Adam Zakkout, who said that I should be grateful that the company even came out to my property to do such a small job. He said he contacted the contractor, who told him that all the work on the estimate was done, and that it is now my word against his. I shared with him that I have security footage of my conversation with said contractor where I clearly ask him what work was done. Adam asked for me to send this over, and he has since gone dark on me, not returning any messages, and customer service has stopped responding to any of my emails. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Small debris plugs the "screen" in the so called "filter" and makes the rain water overflow instead of going into the gutters and downspouts. The overflowing rainwater has caused horrible damage to my home. Stucco cracking and falling off the walls, wood damage and water leaking into my home. They've sent their contractors out to evaluate and they've all said it was a bad installation and needed to be fixed. Nothing was ever done after numerous attempts to get them fixed. Now, I can't get ANYONE from LeafFilter to help me. In the process of trying to get help and get this horrible product removed, I discovered there was a class action lawsuit against them for the same problems I am having for installations between 2016 and 2022. We were never notified of the class action. Settlement was useless anyway, as it only covered $200 for repairs or removal. I WANT A REFUND!! A month ago we got the filters installed. During installation they lifted our shingles (which you can clearly see now). When we were sold this product we were promised that our shingles would not be touched. Thankfully it rained the same day of installed so that we were able to see that due to installation it caused our roof to leak onto our porch. It rained the day before and there was no leakage. We had two managers come out and they gaslit us telling us it was the roofs age causing the shingles to lift up which is not the case because we just bought this house 2 months ago and had an EXTENSIVE inspection. The managers also tried to fix their mistake and added silicon under the shingles which obviously didn't work. We also had a roofer and contractor out to look at the roof and both said the leaking is due to leaf filter. He stated that all of the gutters would be removed and realigned and new clips would be used to attach instead of the old nails. None of that was true. Read the BBB complaints and you will notice the company never actually honors their warranty. Seeing the ads on TV and radio, I set up an appointment with one of the Leaffilter sales person in Vernon Hills. I have a brand new home built in 2022 by a very reputed builder. The salesman came over and starting telling me how crappy job the builder did with gutters and that he will have to redo lot of the gutters . Do not recommend. I needed new gutters on a rental house in Northwest Knoxville and started getting quotes. I signed a work order with Leaf Filter Gutter Protection on 8/27/2025 for 6" leaf filter gutters, 3x4 downspouts on the four corners of the house, sealant on downspouts, 20' of wrapped fascia board in white. Includes removal of existing gutter and downspouts and flashing under metal roof. Total cost $8872. No deposit was required because the salesman, James Hartup, stated the company had no debt and did not require a deposit. The installation was scheduled for 9/2/2025 but Jake, possibly the office manager, rescheduled to 9/4/2025. There was severe weather on 9/4/2025 including thunderstorms, hail, strong winds, and tornado warnings throughout most of the day. I did not expect the installation to occur in the severe weather and installation would be rescheduled for a day with better weather. However, I received a phone call at 8:50pm on 9/4/2025 from the tenant informing me the gutter installers were expecting payment. I spoke with the installer and explained I did not expect installation during the storm and definitely did not expect them to finish the work in the dark. I also explained I was told by the salesman that I would be able to inspect the work before I paid and asked what options I would have for payment. The installer said he would call me back. I did not hear back from the installer. The next morning, 9/5/2025, I went to the house to inspect the gutters and was very disappointed. There were places where the gutters were uneven, there was a downspout that was not replaced (it was rusty and dirty), and the installers left a mess of roof pieces and gutter gunk in the yard. It would have been impossible for the installers to see what they were doing in the severe storms and in the evening. I knew Leaf Filter would reach out to me when they wanted payment. James stated during the quote that he did not get paid until the customer paid. My phone and text log shows Leaf Filter started reaching out to me on 9/10/2025. I spoke with James, and he asked me to call Jake and explain what work needed to be done to complete the job. James also said they needed payment so the installers could get paid. A piece of the story wasn't adding up. James originally said the company was debt free, but then states they can't pay their installers. He had already told me he didn't get paid until I paid, which was the truth of it. I spoke with Jake and explained what was wrong and we set a day and time to meet the field trainer at the house on 9/15/2025. Jake said the field trainer would have supplies to repair/replace what needed to be done and I could pay afterwards. I had a family emergency occur on the 9/14/2025 which took my focus away and forgot about meeting the field trainer. On 9/17/2025, I received text messages from Jake. He said the field trainer waited on me for 45 minutes on the 9/15/2025 and they needed payment. I explained I had an emergency and did not have time to deal with them anymore. The work should have been completed correctly the first time instead of during the storm and dark. If the field trainer took supplies to the house, why didn't he replace the downspout that should have been replaced? He's the field trainer, it's obvious how bad the installation looks. He should have corrected the issues I had already explained to James and Jake. I told Jake to take the cost of the one downspout that wasn't replaced from the invoice. He took off $330 of the total bill. He sent me the mailing address and I sent a check via certified mail which they received 9/22/25. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. What good is a product reputation and warranty if the service sucks? Gutter covers purchased in Seattle area; paid for and installed in November 2024, 5 months later gutters leaking and service is non-responsive; leaking over front door getting the bottom half totally wet and getting whoever uses the front door wet also. Leaking on the deck and getting furniture wet too. Requested service for main office 2/24/25. Contractor sent out the next day who stated the incorrect part had been used. A WEEK LATER still leaking. Local office didn't respond to my voicemail about how to proceed with repair so called main service number and scheduled appointment for morning of Feb 28. NO ONE SHOWS UP. I call main number again and another contractor shows up 3 hours late. He ALSO states the wrong part was used. Wondering how many times they need to inspect it. After 2 inspections, last one 2/28 no phone call, no text, NOTHING HAPPENS until I call the main number AGAIN, and finally hear from local office March 11 (almost 2 weeks later) wanting to come out the next day. Unfortunately I am not available. I provide info as to when I would be available over the next few days. FIVE days later and still NO RESPONSE. Morrison seemed professional when came out, gave a verbal bid to my wife and I together to fix our gutters. I texted several times commenting on his specific $$ bid, he said no room to go lower. Then I said finally OK to this $$ bid number, but asked about warranty and stressed cannot go higher. He came back with a totally different bid, and $100 more than his bid! We traded texts, and he then accused my wife and I via text of lying! And claimed this was the same bid he gave to my wife and I. And specifically via text (and I have full text trail) said "we prefer not to do business with people that lie and said we said something else". One year ago i had new gutters installed around a five-plex. I had trouble from the beginning. The crew doing the job needed to be changed because the first crew didn't know what they were doing. The second crew did better but the gutter is still not the right lengths on a couple of the sides. I am in San Diego where it doesn't rain much and it's a rental so I'm generally not at the job site in the rain, but i was there time when it rained. And there were rain puddles under the connection points in the rain gutter. In other words, even if this downpour of rainwater just started, in one year there are leaks in the rain gutter! After about 30 minutes of playing the price is right, he gets it fown to $1650, a $9000 discount. We sign the papers and they install the filters. this was at the end of March, by mid May the Filters were so clogged ath the valleys that they were pouring buckets of water right in front of my door. They came and put in a shield that moves the problem over a few feet, but still in front of the door. Customer service is non existant and a refund is out of the question. Its a garbage product. I did not purchase their product. Don't waste your time if you are looking for a quote. Be prepared for a long presentation and a "if you purchase right now I will give you 20% off" blah blah. I walked around my house with the salesperson. Described all that I needed done. Then I said ok, I am going back to work. Please let me know when you are done measuring and I would like you to email the quote. He said we HAVE TO do a presentation. We are different and won't do it any other way. So my response. "You will not measure and send me a quote?" No. they will not. I told the salesman, I am working and don't have time. He said he doesn't have time to do it my way. So you have enough time to waste my time with a bs presentation about how your product is so much better, but you don't have time to take measurements and give me a quote. Ok. Thank you. Over $40 a foot for 100 foot of gutters less than 10 feet off the ground in my opinion this is unreasonably expensive

The leaf filter sales reps are nothing more than used car sale people from yesteryear. I was approached by a man at Lowes who said we could schedule a "No obligation quote that was good for 1 year". What harm could come from a quote? He had me call the scheduler who then proceeded to not talk to me because all of the decision makers of the household would not be present for the quote. I should have stopped there, but he told me that both decision makers were not required and that the techs were "stupid", having me call another one. Again, should have stopped there. I got the "quote" scheduled finally. The sales rep came to my home, didn't even get up to look at my existing gutters just taking cell phone photos from the ground and started the "quote". We had just had the roof redone last year brand new down to the sheeting but he insisted we had to add flashing because there wasn't any. The installers even said he has no clue what he is doing. Then the "no obligation quote" turned in to pressuring me to call my Co decision maker AT WORK to move forward with getting an install. When I told him no he came back with "C'mon man, we drive all the way from Denver". We ended up talking more and he told me about the financing. BOOOOO!!! Another thing this guy has no clue about. He told me that because I have a Lowes card I could be financed for 36 months. Not even close. The full amount gets charged to your card and you have 8% interest on the project for 36 months, totally different than financing. When I asked about this, telling him my credit limit is not high enough to cover the whole thing he replied " No one has ever asked me that before but it gave us the financing option so it's fine". No, no it's not at all because now I have to try to pull $5000 from my backside to cover this. These people are nothing but high pressure snake oil sales people who should be ABSOLUTELY ASHAMED OF THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES. I am calling Lowes as well as the BBB to file complaints. I bought this house and got a quote from leaf filter, I asked what all it covered. He told me everything was covered including inspection of the guttering and repair of the guttering, I would never have to clean my guttering again that all the debris would just blow off and that if I had any problem just call and they would come and repair. Told me it had a life time warrant. He gave me the warranty card and I read it looked good. Now I have a problem with the guttering dumps water over the side, the leaf filter itself is collapsing and is covered with debri. I called in to get somebody out to repair the lifetime guaranteed leaf filter and was told that I have to pay another $95. to have somebody come look at it. I paid $7,500. to have it installed with a lifetime warrant. Now 2 years later they are charging me $95. to repair their work when the warranty card they gave me had no mention of another fee! Do not get this gutter filter. It's not worth the money when you have to pay them to repair their work. read more

A LeafFilter sales person sold me what the company calls a "clean and reseal" job, which the sales person assured me would include the repair of several problematic features of my gutter system. Chief among these were re-hanging the gutters to more fully capture the runoff from the roof. I asked the salesman pointblank if these repairs were included, and he said "yes absolutely." When the contractor arrived weeks later, it turned out he was not informed of these repairs and was unprepared and unable to complete them. He proceeded to do the basic components of the job, and spent a couple of hours adding some silicone caulk and a handful of nails to my system. I called LeafFilter and the salesman several times while the contractor was onsite to try and figure what went wrong and resolve the issue, but was unable to get through to anyone. I never heard from the salesman again, but LeafFilter informed that the promised repairs were not part of the package I purchased, despite what the salesman told me. I was billed over $3000 for this "service" and only refunded a third of that, despite being lied to. Moreover, the business refused to provide me a breakdown/itemization of the cost of such a project to justify the price. I would never have agreed to this "service" if it had been represented honestly and accurately. I filed a complaint the BBB, but LeafFilter still refuses to make things right. As if that wasn't enough, as soon as fall/winter weather began, it became clear the cleaning and sealing performed by the contractor was subpar at best. There are several seams of the gutter system (the most obvious places to attend to for a sealing project) that continue to produce icicles, leak water create ice patches on the sidewalk, and expose my foundation to runoff that should be directed to the downspouts. One area in particular still resembles an all out waterfall when it's raining! The system is in no better condition than before LeafFilter sent a contractor to fix it up. I called LeafFilter to resolve this, and they have repeatedly screwed up the scheduling, first canceling after the agreed upon window passed, and then showing up more than 2 hours before the agreed upon window while I wasn't home. Once or twice, I can understand this kind of thing, but LeafFIlter demonstrates a pattern of unprofessionalism, poor communication, and manipulation. This company is incompetent at best, and malicious in my opinion and experience. I can't speak to the quality of their product, but their business practice and service system seems only set up to extract money from people. I do not recommend anyone engage this company and encourage it's subcontractors to sever their professional partnerships. You can do better! read more

Constant calls just to get an estimate then constant calls after estimate received. When calling to ask to be removed from call list the rude lady hung up. Definitely will not be using their services. read more
