I originally sought to hire a roofing contractor via Yelp and sent a quote request to several companies at once. Edy responded within an hour of my posting and via messaging I shared pics of my roof, my budgetary situation and timeline. Edy acknowledged my concerns and met me at my property to better understand and communicate the reality of my roofing situation. Edy proceeded to share his findings (a roof layered with two layers of heavy asphalt shingles) and his professional advice and hesitation to lay a metal roof over the existing shingles, although doable, at this stage considering the amount of weight already bearing down onto the property's structure. His honesty and hesitancy to complete this job to merely satisfy the customer and collect a financial sum spoke volumes. He offered and I accepted, free of charge, a detailed breakdown of all material needed to complete a metal roofing project and after much negotiation with Edy, addressing the labor costs and trash removal, allowed me to better understand the magnitude of a roofing job. After some thought and citing the fact that he set an honest tone from the onset, I hired him understanding that other unforeseen structural issues could arise and upon their first day on the job site with his crew totaling 4, he in fact discovered a foam barrier placed upon the frame acting as an insulator (I have an a-frame home). Edy and I worked through the issue which resulted in additional materials and labor costs, but after detailed removal of the shingles and meticulously installing the metal sheets over insulation via wood slats, the project was completed beautifully and professionally. Edy and his crew were very detail oriented, respectful, courteous and friendly. Kiel's bid was significantly less expensive than the other bid I got from the mainland. More important he kept in touch and showed up when he said he would (and it's not easy to get here). Earlier this month I hired Axiom Roofing to repair a small leak. Leak was directly below the tie…read moredowns for my weather head. After three visits the leak is still there and I am out close to a $1,000. The game here it seems, is to take a call from a home owner where there is a leak. Attempt to fix the leak but at the same time start pushing for a roof replacement. Bait and switch they use to call it. At one point during our conversations we were told, "repairs are not really our specialty." Then why attempt them? We now know the answer, try to sell them a new roof. It's not the money so much, it's engaging with a company that takes your money and does not deliver. That's exactly what happened here. Axiom is now failing to get back to me after they tarped my roof and left. Helluva way to run a company. After I made it clear I was not interested in a new roof, things went dark. I have since then engaged with another company that chuckled when I told them what was going on with my current situation. It's like they knew. Axiom may do a great job with a new build I have no idea, their integrity is lacking. I won't be back. My buddy needs a new roof, I told him to stay clear of these guys. A week has passed, no word from Axiom and they took me for $1,000....nice. Now it's on to small claims to try and get my money back. Like I have nothing better to do.....ugh.
