The work they did was very good but communication after the quote is poor to say the least. The property I had worked was a rental home so I asked for information on what was done and what was found. After multiple emails and phone call I had to drive to their office to get any pictures or summary. We are now well over 2 months past the project completion and I still have not received any warranty information. This despite multiple attempts to get it. I have worked with them multiple times in the past and the current service is not even close to what it was in the past. read more

They were not very communicative over the phone or emails and when I went into the office to drop off the check for payment it took a while to get someone to talk to me and take my payment. Baker Roofing offered to provide new roofing services as the major piece of the work. The entire crew they sent were a pleasure to deal with, worked in the rain, and got it done in one day. Mt Baker Roofing (MBR) was one of a few local roofing companies recommended to me by my father-in-law who has been running construction crews for over 30 years. I received quotes from all the companies he suggested. MBR wasn't the cheapest, but they offered the most options of roofing materials and other services. My estimator, Jason, happily sent me three separate quotes upon my request because I wasn't sure if I wanted a composite or metal roof and various other considerations. After waiting a couple weeks for the bank to stop dragging their feet I finally dropped off the deposit for the project. Construction began the very next morning. The MBR crew took about 2.5 days replace the roof, various flashing, three skylights, several sheets of roof deck plywood and install safety anchors along the roof cap (I didn't even know they were going to do that.) A push broom I'd had for years was damaged at some point during the process and, without me saying anything, they even left a replacement broom for me. Roughly two weeks after the roof install the gutter crew showed up and installed new gutters, downspouts and gutter guards. Our house is roughly two thousand square feet and the estimated price for the roofing job (using mid-tier materials) was $15,484.06+tax. The final total for the roofing job was $17,339.40 after taxes and the cost of roof deck replacement. We're still waiting on the final total for the gutters, the estimate for that job was $3,355. All in all we're very happy with the workmanship, quality and communication of MBR. read more

Please accept my gratitude and sincere 'Thank you' to Mount Baker Roofing for getting me through the re-roofing of my solarium. The skylights were leaking. Sheetrock sliding down ceiling & wall. Your Front office Customer Service rep, Lex understood the need for my issue. She sent lead, Jesus, with another associate to evaluate. Then with some concerns, Lex sent out, Mark, Project Manager. There were several ideas as to the cause. With phone calls to the office, Adam, spoke with me when either Lex or Mark weren't available. Lex did her best to be flexible in scheduling for the Re-roof project as Jesus' team became available after the rains. Adam also showed great customer care when it came to transferring my phone calls to either Lex or Mark. - Negotiation was key - the price was right! Sending a great team such as Jesus and his consorts who worked diligently all day, Wed, May 20th. Cleanly dressed and courteous gentlemen. I did not mind having on my property. We live in Anacortes and have a flat roof on our detached garage, with a breezeway connection. We had Mt. Baker apply a TPO roof replacing an older tar and gravel roof. We are very pleased with the process, results, and costs. Great crew who solved some issues during the replacement, including repairing a rotted sub structure where there was a slow leak over time, and overhanging roof structures that were hard to reach. February 2021 we paid Mt. Baker Roofing to replace our HOA roof. During that install they left our roof exposed to over a foot of snow which left units taking on more water damage. They did nothing to address this for my unit. I expressed concerns about the sheeting which had not been replaced. They told me I was wrong. We had an envelope study done one year later which showed 1-3 inch deviations in the roof suggesting sheeting was bad. 18 months after the roof was install by Mt. Baker Roofing our roof failed. I can't be more frustrated with a business for being completely ignorant, rude, and abusive toward their customer. read more

Workers here are currently picketing and advocating against worker retaliation and wage theft. I called to get a quote and to encourage them to negotiate with workers. I was able to leave a voicemail at one location and at the second location I did get an answer but as soon as I mentioned the workers the lady was really rude, became defensive, and hung up before I could even finish my roofing request. I do hope they are able to resolve and also get better customer service. read more

We paid for a new roof and new fascia & gutters. They staff the roofing with a different crew than the fascia & gutter crew. The end result of the fascia replacement is that we were left with a product of subpar quality, including board warping, board splitting (they tried to cover with caulk)...and it looks far worse than the fascia they replaced for me. Also- it's unpainted, so its on its way to early rot. After more than 6 months, they are unresponsive to a request for warranty repairs. Email response is now zero and the humans on the phone keep pretending they're working it. If you get a bid that undercuts local roofing companies, there's a reason. read more

I recently bought a home with a roof done by Mount Baker approximately seven years ago. While I can't speak to what it cost, it seems to be holding up just fine. The problem, though is that the previous homeowner seemingly never went up into the attic after the roof was completed. Mount baker left staples and wood and debris and tools That I discovered once I was able to get up and take a look into the attic. When I asked them to come clean out what they had done years before, I was told they only clean the outside of the house and not the attic, and would not come back to complete the job by cleaning out what they had done. More recently, I was outside my new home, cleaning out some flowerbeds, and found more debris that they did not clean up outside. Disappointed! read more

This was a new learning curve for me, and she helped me even by thinking of what questions to ask and enlightening me about things in the process. Not happy with the customer service. I have clients that recently purchased a home and Mt. Baker roofing had replaced the roof for the previous owner and is now trying to apply a lien to the new owners who had nothing to do with it. Thankfully they have Title insurance, but they shouldn't have had to do it in the first place and when I called the roofing company they basically told me it wasn't their problem. read more

Mt Baker put a new roof on our house. While they did many things well at the end of the day we had 2 leaks (different locations) only one of which they fixed. The continuing leak is due to a problem with how they managed the window flashing. I will have to pay another company to come and fix this correctly. This old roof had not leaked in the 15 years it was in place. What they did well: 1) Were on time for both bid and actual job. 2) Did a good job cleaning up even looking for nails around the yard. 3) Completed the work quickly and on-time. What was missing: 1) Roof leaked. 2) It took quite awhile to come and look at the leaks after they were reported. 3) The first leak was never really fixed even after damage to our family ceiling. read more

If YELP allowed negative stars, this company would get a negative 5. We scheduled a project three months ago with Mt. Baker Roofing for a commercial roof. Because it was a commercial building, for months we planned on closing the business during install due to anticipated noise. Clients were cancelled, rescheduled, and employees given time off. The contract was signed, and faxed to the company approximately 2.5 months prior. Color and type of roofing was selected approximately two and half weeks prior to job. It was verified to be in-stock by the distributor they use in Bellingham. Surprisingly, Mt. Baker Roofing never initiated any of these communications about the work, which I found peculiar. Emails document the scheduling of our project. A phone call made to Mt. Baker roofing 2 weeks prior verified the install date. However, I was told they needed another copy of the signed contract. This was sent to them, and the receptionist indicated everything was ready to go, "weather permitting of course". Finally ONE BUSINESS DAY PRIOR to install, I called to verify their time of arrival. To my horror, Mt. Baker Roofing said I wasn't on even on the schedule! When asked who did the scheduling, I was told the President of Mt. Baker Roofing, Dana (his nickname is apparently the 'Big D'), did this. I left a message for Dana to call me. Understandably I was upset. My hope was Mt. Baker Roofing would be able to accommodate us, seeing as this was their scheduling problem, not ours. When the company president finally called, rather than being accommodating or apologetic, he was rude, defensive, and blamed me for every aspect. He came across as having a superiority complex, 'smartest guy in the room', and was argumentative. I pointed out to the 'Big-D' that there was not a single instance where an employee from Mt. Baker Roofing called me about the work, to verify color selections, install dates, or any other aspect of this project. Let me tell you, this guy could care less. It's amazing the owner selected him as president. I estimate that Mt. Baker Roofing has cost our company $4,000-5,000 in lost revenue. Notably, there are other negative reviews about Mt. Baker Roofing. I only wish I checked these sites before selecting a roofing company. Some of the reviews are dead-on. For example a recent YELP review on 9/10/15 indicated a lack of follow through. Mt. Baker even failed to show up at the job! This I can believe. A review on 9/13 indicated sloppy work and hostile employees. That I also can believe. Further, I see the few positives are written by people in the construction industry,or contractors, which have clear conflicts of interest. If you are looking for a company that will potentially cost your business money, maybe not show up for the job, and has no accountability, and no empathy for you if problems occur, please choose Mt. Baker Roofing. Otherwise, I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere. read more

I am having my house reroofed and Mt. Baker won the bid. They showed up yesterday morning and started in and were doing a good job. That evening I went to check on progress and found that they had not touched the fascia boards that were rotted on the ends. When I asked the worker he said that it was not on his work order. When I contacted the guy that gave me an estimate, he said that it would cost me extra to get it fixed. So make sure that you are there for the estimate and bring up everything you want done, they will not go the extra mile to make sure you get an accurate price. read more

Never have I dealt with a more unprofessional company. The secretary said the job would only take two days. Something she had no authority to say. When we attempted to find out what was going on, they refused to give us their boss' number telling us to look him up in the phone book. The workers left their tools on the roof exposed to the elements and they didn't secure all of the sheets so one large roll slid off. Only one worker showed up the next day and didn't know where anyone else was. They also promised to clean up. But they left debris scattered all over the yard. When we pointed out some of the debris they missed. A worker completely lost his head and lashed out at my mother. We then told them that we did not want that particular roofer to return, for we didn't want him to sabotage the roof and they told us they couldn't promise us anything. To summarize they have horrible customer service and don't follow through on their word. Do not use them! read more

My issue was the old garage needed new plywood my sons did 15 sheets to tie in new shop to garage so Mt baker did the other 15 sheets on the other side of garage I was told over the phone that it would cost $450.00 over the original estimate which I was fine with then I get the bill and it was $900.00 $450.00 for 15 sheets of OSB and $450.00 Labor. When I called the office I was told the $450.00 was for OSB and Labor so I asked then how come your charging me $450 for OSB and $450 for labor she told me I was going to have to wait until someone came back off vacation, so I was called later and he said well the other $450 was for something else but could not tell me what that was I was angry so I just paid the bill. when I put in a review on their web site one of the owners replied and stated that the $30 for 15 sheets of OSB was for parts and labor. Ok then it should only be $450.00 not $900.00. He said if I want to talk some more to call the office, what for I will just get more double talk read more

I had a great experience with Mount Baker Roofing. Rob and Kara were great to work with in getting the estimate and answered all my emails and calls with questions I had through the bid process. We did have to wait until November to get the roof put on but we didn't contact them until the busy part of the summer. They tried to start the job in early Oct but we asked them to wait since we were going to be out of town. The week the new roof was put on was windy and rainy. I was hesitant about the forecast but Geraldo and his crew were amazing at working around the weather, using tarps to keep any rain off the roof and got the job done safely in 5 days, replacing our steep shake roof. Geraldo and his crew were very professional, left the jobsite very clean, and took special care knowing we had a toddler at our house. They completed the job and charged us exactly what they said they would in the bid. They also corrected a gutter/drainage problem for me and didn't charge extra. I would not hesitate to recommend the folks I worked with from Mt Baker roofing. Very happy to have this new roof on during recent rain and wind storms! read more
