Bottom line, I would HIGHLY recommend Topside for roof replacement. I am the first to admit that I am a very difficult customer to please, I worry about everything. From the very beginning, Luke with Topside addressed all my concerns in a very timely and professional manner. I can tell you Topside was not the least expensive estimate, however after completing exhaustive research about their workmanship, warranty, and materials, they came out as the clear choice. The initial estimate was completed promptly and was explained in detail. Topside also addressed the immediate leak issue with a temporary repair until the replacement began. On multiple occasions during the time period before the replacement began, Luke stayed in touch not to mention Topside provide an on-line portal for me to view information pertaining to my project. When it can time for the replacement to begin, the work crew was prompt and professional and did amazing work. They show up the same time every morning like clockwork and got right to business. I am extremely satisfied with the finished product. For my experience, Topside provided top-notch customer service and workmanship at every stage. Proceed with caution! The materials look to be of good quality. Except for the project manager, poor communication, work and material delays, and the unnecessary dropping of shingle pallets. Very loud and created house vibration, causing fixtures to fall from the ceiling. After some research, I found the additional estimate of a small side job to be extremely high for both materials and labor. By the photos of the roof, everything seems to be intact. Time will tell. The owner seemed sympathetic but did not offer to compensate for the delays and inconvenience of a stressful, drawn-out experience. read more

Outstanding product. Outstanding workmanship. Great people. We replaced a failing roof put on by Mt. Baker Roofing 15 years ago... shoddy shingles and simply a shoddy installation. They coordinated with our Solar panel company to re-install our 16 solar panels without a hitch. Topside's shingle product is outstanding... virtually no grains of grit coming off it after completion (the opposite of the Mt. Baker shingles). We also purchased their (expensive) long term warranty to have as an "asset" in the future when we sell the house. The crew's attention to detail was impressive. The crew supervisor (Erik) created a customized way to better manage the high volume of water flow in the roof "valleys" to better deal with seasonal tree debris. And, at our request, they installed special air vents and a better roof ridge vent to improve ventilation in the attic area to prevent mildew inside. The end result exceeded our expectations. This was a really horrible experience. The roof ended up costing me twice what the original quote was for but that's not even what I'm upset about. There were dishonest businesses practices at play here. I had told Duane that the corners of my fascia boards were rotting and assumed I had to replace the entire 10 foot board on each corner of my house so I told him I was going to budget an additional $1600 for this. He told me it wouldn't be nearly that much as they could just replace the last few feet of rot and not have to do the entire board. Then, after my roof was entirely ripped off my house, he told me I had 85 feet of rotting fascia board and it would cost almost the exact amount I had originally planned. However the 85 feet of boards were not rotten. So they ended up charging me for 25 feet and actually replacing 15 feet. Why did they have to lie about this? And then they did a terrible job and I had to ask them to come back and fix at least four things. I have zero confidence my roof is installed correctly. read more

I contracted Topside Roofing and Siding for a major, full re-roofing project in late January/early February 2023. My initial experience of them was that they were certainly the most expensive bid, but had the best quality assurance, responsiveness, and expertise about the issues I was having with my roof. The roof replacement was certainly professional, expedient, and clearly improved all issues that had plagued my roof prior to their work. For that quality of work, I would have given them full marks. However... Following the completion of the work, there have been several issues that have arisen: First, multiple types of debris (a sharp cut metal piece that my dog began to eat before my wife took it and sliced her knee, dozens of rusty roofing nails, and dozens of pieces of plastic from roofing material) were left after the job was finished, in spite of the signed contract indicating they would clean up all materials. When called for the cut piece of metal, they denied it was theirs; it perfectly matched the metal used on the roof... Even after they responded and came back to do more clean up for the nails/plastic, there was still debris remaining around the perimeter of my house. Second, and more importantly, approximately two weeks after completion of the project, my hot water heater ceased functioning showing an indicator for an obtrusion in the venting. The company that installed my hot water heater did a service call, pulled out the debris blocking the venting, which turned out to be old roofing material. When the job was in progress I remembered one of the crew members using a leaf blower to remove excess material from the roof; I also noticed they had not put any type of plastic over the venting to ensure nothing was forcibly blown into it. When I called Top Side to address this issue, it took nearly 6 weeks of intermittent and dismissive communication to actually have this issue addressed. When Duane, a manager, spoke to the owner, Phil, the verdict was that, from the photos, it looked like "bugs" had gotten into my venting. When I assured them that the service company and myself had seen the material and it was certainly roofing material (which is evident from the photos, again, Top Side roofing denied it was their responsibility. Had it just been the quality of the job, I would have happily recommended this company to anyone who asked. Based on the above issues, I highly recommend that you avoid Top Side Roofing if you hope to contract a company that maintains contractual obligations and provides adequate customer service should the need arise. read more

Topside has restored our confidence in them and we recommend them. This year, we discovered that Topside roofed over the bathroom fan exhaust pipe in 2008. So the moist air has been exhausting into the attic just below the sheathing for 10 years. This has led directly to a 4' x 6' area of black mold. John of Topside came out, and in spite of being well past the one year warranty, he agreed to correct the error, no charge. BTW, we sprayed the mold with vinegar ourselves. We were advised by two other contractors that with correct ventilation, it should not be a problem. Fortunately our living areas are well sealed off. We'll keep an eye on it. You can trust Topside is honest, professional and skilled and will address problems as requested. Be advised, inspect VERY carefully and contact them if you have an issue. read more

After spending $7,000 on a new TPO roof it is still leaking after 2 years. Contacted them about this and they refuse to fix the problem. They say because I installed Fibertek system they won't stand behind their work. If you value your money, please DON'T hire these people!!!!!!!! While they know how to swing a hammer, they are less than professional about their business. They tried to sell me some extra work after we signed a contract and I refused (because I know I didn't need it). I guess they decided their side of the deal wasn't that good after all because they did a really poor job on the flashing. The flashing was secure where it was under the shingles, but the rest was just left loose and unsecure or in some cases secured by duct tape. I found this out some time later when I had another roofer go up and he took pictures to show me what they did and even showed me the remnant of the roll of duct tape that was still attached and weathered. That roofer charged me $500 to correct their intentionally shoddy work. I did not call Topside because it appeared obvious that what was done was on purpose (duct tape, really?) and I didn't want them coming back to find something else to sabotage. read more

They replaced the roofs of two of our vacation rentals. They did a great job. Great experience from the bid through working with the crew.

Jon was a delight to work with. He explained everything about the project, and was always available when questions came up. The crew did an excellent job. They replaced a composite roof with standing seam metal, and all the underlying structure, and put in a full drainage system. This was 8 years ago, and I have had none of the problems that necessitated a drainage system, and the metal roof has had no problems. The attic is now well ventilated so there are no moisture problems. The entire project was well worth the money and time, as every problem that was there has been fixed without a single call-back to correct anything. Even the landscaping around the cottage was well treated during the work and all signs of the workers was cleaned up at the end of the job. I'm currently hiring them again for a much bigger job because of the trust I have for them. read more

Your roofers just finished putting the new roof on my house last week. I can't tell you what a great job they did. I don't think I have seen such a hard working crew in a long time. They worked every minute and even when I took food out to them, they only took a couple of seconds to eat. I am not knowledgeable about roofing, so I was amazed at how quickly the job went. It seemed that there were layers of materials going down on the roof in a very specific order. After about three days, the final shingles started being laid with six nails each to keep them on when we have very hard winds. One of the impressive things about the crew was their method of clean up. Three or four of them at a time, after all the the shingles were in place, would completely circle the house, picking up every scrap of material including nails for trash bins. The major amount of old roof which was torn off was in a dumpster placed next to the garage. Excellent crew. Job, and materials all in five days. read more

Save yourself a headache and go with a company that will honor their craftsmanship and material warranties. They demanded my BBB complaint be removed before fixing the problem. They now refuse to do anything about the faulty ridge venting and accused me of blackmail, told me to figure it out and to look into the recalls myself. Initially complained because of a 15,000 dollar reroof cost. The ridge venting is faulty and still under warranty. I was told the problem would fix if I removed complaint. I said I would remove the complaint after the problem was fixed. I have had a bad experience with sales, and manager from the beginning. Will not recommend this company. I was not very pleased with this companies approach. I asked them to come out and give me a siding quote and the estimator insisted that we have our roof redone, as I told them that was not in our budget they told me I had to do it because the roof was warn beyond its life, after clearly pointing out to them I did not want the roofing done they continued to try and convince me to and then they sent me a roofing quote along with the siding quote (even though i made it clear i didnt want one). I have a friend thats a general contractor and he stopped by my house and looked at my roof, he told me that my roof was in good shape and was rated for 25 years, this made me furious, not only was my roof not worn beyond its life they tried to pressure me to get my roof done when it didnt need to be changed! This is in my opinion is very dishonest and they probably do this to all of their customers - they use their siding sector to try to suck you into a siding and roofing job and constantly up selling their jobs. read more

In northwest Washington, we found Topside Roofing offered the best products, and manufacturer-certified installation. Phil the owner, their secretary, roofing crew, and their truck driver were all great. However the reason Topside only receives a three-star in our opinion is poor administration (our project commencing later than originally estimated, roofers sent out to work in poor weather conditions, an equipment breakdown, a materials shortage that delayed completion over a week, and dismissive conduct by one employee). read more

Topside roofing replaced our roof in June. The estimator was very good (they use pictures from google earth to estimate the cost. They came when they said they would. They were very courteous always. We paid for an upgrade to the warranty and it was worth it as the installers have to be trained by the shingle company, I believe. After the job was completed, I checked the roof...what I could see and found a minor problem. When I informed them, they came right out and corrected it.
