We chose Nolan's Roofing after doing a lot of talking and reading of reviews. We have been saving to get the roof done, and it was high time, as the last roof was put on 28 years ago. We are absolutely thrilled with the work, quality of materials, the very hard-working crew and their attention to details. We had an unusual request: to insulate the steep-pitched roof of our gabled 1940 home. It's a story and a half, so the roof actually acts like the walls for the second story. There is no heat or air conditioning up there. On hot summer days, the second floor where we sleep broils, and in the winter it is terribly cold. The new insulated roof has made an incredible difference in our home. When it was nearly 85 degrees out, the upstairs was pleasant in temperature, and not hot at all. As a result the rest of the house remained cooler too. We feel confident that winter will be a similar experience in comfort. Because the house is older, there were several places on the eaves where the wood had to be replaced. The insulation 'raised' the roof, and they installed venting, and flashing. The workmanship and attention to details (such as flashing over the protruding new eaves) is so wonderful to see. When the house painter came, he was very impressed with the finishing work, and said he often does not see that attention to the details. The crew was lead by Edgar, and the other crew members were Fernando, Hector, Christian and Kylar. They were very friendly and helpful, and had an excellent work ethic. (The owner should be proud of this team!) They seemed proud of their company, and the finished work. They roofed the house, garage and gazebo. The house was an unenviable job because of the pitch of the roof and number of gables, but the crew eagerly met the challenge! Overall, it was an amazing experience and we love the result. Communication is bad. Nolans replied to my post 3 days ago and said they would fix at no charge to me. However that has not been stated in email and phone communication that we've had, in fact there has been no communication in over a week from them. Probably posted it here to look good, but has no intention to follow through. Do I want them doing more work for me when the initial work was shoddy and unprofessional ??? read more

I had done business with Nolan for almost 2 decades and referred many people to them. I requested assistance from them on a Warranty issue with my roof. The owner arrived to spend about 20 minutes screaming at me what a idiot I was and there was nothing wrong with the roof. I found out that the product that was installed was involved in Class Action Suits and a claim was warranted. Instead of assisting with the warranty claim they sent it to a another roofing company that had absolutely nothing to do with the issue. I received a call from the owner today who was rude and hung up on me like a child. Sadly Nolan Roofing is not the company they were and I would steer clear. Buyer beware read more

For what is normally a very stressful process, Nolans made it pretty easy. I have a friend who manages a local roofing company but does not service friends. He recommended Nolans. They were all great, from the owner Roger and his son, to Brandy and Beto and his crew. They gave me a great price and were here on schedule. Nolan roofing replaced my roof several years ago and since then I have had two roofing companies come out and state that some of the tiles were placed incorrectly. I called Nolan (Roger) Roofing and they were so rude and wouldn't even come out to take a look! They said to have someone else do it! I would NEVER recommend a company like this. I called 2-3 weeks ago to have an inspector come to my house and see damage on my roof from a fallen branch. After being rescheduled once already, I waited for the inspector to come yesterday and never heard from him. Called the office twice and they didn't know why he didn't show up. He calls me today and tells me that even if he inspects my roof, they can't fix it for 2 months, something the office could have told me. He tells me he can come inspect in a few days when the snow melts to see what kind of damage may be there. Then during the conversation, he interrupts me constantly so when I point that out to him and ask him to let me finish my sentence, he changed his tone and says they aren't interested in the job anymore and hangs up on me. I find out after he's the owners son. This is not how you do business. Terrible customer service. read more

I contacted many TPO manufacturers and the one Roger mentions. Rogers rep said done according to specs for a roof not a deck. Incorrect application chosen. Version, GAF, weather bond all said what was put down is not a walkable recreational deck surface. They won't even warranty as flat recreational deck. I'm stuck with lumps and wrinkles. I just had my roof replaced by Nolan's Roofing. I am very pleased I went with Nolan's. Even though some reviewers say their prices are on the higher end, I found their rates completely competitive. Plus they were able to schedule me far earlier than others I talked to. The staff were very nice--including the wonderful front person, Meli. I was very impressed with the clean-up. I'm a single mom prepping my house to sell and the owner, Roger completely ruined my experience with them. The crew was hard working and their work is great. However, Roger wouldn't allow the crew to return to finish their cleanup without an extremely patronizing lecture to me about how my request was outside the scope of the work (I'm sorry, but If you failed to cover lower TPO roof surfaces entirely, and you used them to collect debris, then you need to clean them off like you said you woukd). After he and a tech showed up to finish the cleanup (it seriously took them 15 minutes after his 15 minutes of condescension), he stood at my porch and bullied me. He made me feel as if I had to write him a $16k check just bc he was on my porch and stood there attempting to intimidate. I checked my email and they had only submitted an adjusted invoice shortly beforehand. Furthermore, it said I had ten days to pay. I'm sorry Roger, the world doesn't need any more bullies or men intimidating women. I am a working mom who was having a hard time finding a company to come take a look at a roof leak. Nolan's was referred to me by a coworker. I called, made an appointment and cleared my schedule until 2pm the day they said they would be out. They said someone would be out before 2 but didn't give an exact time which is nornal. No one came and they are now not answering my call. I waited most of the day and am shocked with the customer service I have received. When I told my coworker what happened, he said, "they did that once to me but now have completely lost my service." I wouldnt waste my time with an unreliable vendor.... read more

We had Nolan's install a new membrane on our deck. First rain we had water pouring into the dining room. We eventually had a contractor fix the poorly installed door frame (at our expense) and will have to have him back to correct the shoddy caulk along the wall. My general contractor hired Nolan Roofing to install a composition roof on my house. I purchased 50 year top of the line product. After 8 years the roof started leaking and is now leaking in 10-15 places. Because Nolan Roofing has refused to even come and look at it, I have brought 2 roofing contractors out to assess the situation and tell me how to fix. Both have said that there are so many issues with the installation that they will not touch it and that I need to start from scratch. The shingles are in great shape but the installation was substandard that they would have to lift every shingle to resolve. They used a gun to install the nails, no doubt to save time, missed the nail line so that the nails only go into 1 thickness of shingle instead of two. This has caused the nails to work themselves up over time with moisture and now all these little holes are leaking. They also placed the nails too close to the ends of the shingles. When the roof transitions from an 8/12 to 6/12 they nailed ON TOP OF the shingles to hold it down instead of putting in a transition flashing. They used the minimum ice/water shield. They refused to even look at it because it is past their 5 year workmanship warranty. I had no expectation that they would repair this for free given the timeframe but I certainly expected some sort of cost share to resolve versus having to install an entirely new roof after 10 years. Shame on me for assuming they knew what they were doing and would stand by a clearly improper installation. Shame on them for failing to acknowledge they have responsibility for an improper installation. read more

We have had a pernicious flashing leak at our chimney for the past few years. I had contacted numerous roofing companies to address the problem but they were either too busy or not worth their time to help. Through the Ferndale Neighborhood Facebook page we were given Nolan's Roofing. I called, explained our situation, Roger said he would be out to take a look. He was there the next day. I asked him to replace flashing, Roger said he believed they could work with the existing flashing and seal the chimney water tight. Two days later Hector and his crew were on the roof, fixing the flashing; it took about an hour. Well this past rain storm is the proof of Rogers intuition; our flashing could be saved at a great savings from replacement. Hector was great, quick, clean and courteous. We contacted Nolan's Roofing for a quote to re-roof our existing home with three separate options (metal and two different composites). I spent over an hour with their representative at our home, talking through options and explaining what we wanted done. He assured me that although they may be more expensive than other roofers, they excelled at communication with their customers, which we absolutely value. He said we'd be getting the quote within 48 hours, but after 10 days I called back. After another assurance that it was coming - still nothing. Over 2 weeks later I called and emailed again. This time he sent over a quote - that did not appear to be for our home or have any of the modifications we had talked about for over an hour. After many more calls to the company, and much of my personal time spent dealing with this, I was finally told that they "were too busy to help me at this time"! I've spent over 3 hours with the company and they have wasted both their time as well as mine - and we never even received as much as a quote for the job. It was a very frustrating experience. We contracted with Nolan Roofing about three years ago to replace our roof with a metal roof. They may not be the least expensive, but the quality of their workmanship and follow up to any problems, makes them worth the price. We just reported a leak to them, and they sent out a crew the next morning. We also had them do some additional work when we added on an addition, and the work was excellent. I just had my roof done by Nolan's roofing after getting them highly recommended by a good friend. I live in a 120-year old house that is two stories high and has many merging peaks. To make matters more difficult, different areas of the roof are older than others and many roofing contractors never even made a bid on the job. Those that did priced it so high that it was impossible for us to accept the bid. Nolan's was an incredible and refreshing change. Roger, who handles much of their customer support, was very positive from the start and very user friendly. He listened to all of our concerns very carefully and he provided us with a very extensive and detail-oriented bid that was far below anything we had received thus far. He also took our concerns about our neighbors into consideration and his workers checked with the neighbors every day to let them know what to expect. The workers themselves were very courteous and kind and there was never any negative language or music of any kind. Every day they cleaned up after themselves immaculately and it was hard to tell that they were even there. Our many plants were protected and our gutters were eventually returned to their original places. The whole experience was incredible and the job was completed in exact accordance with the bid.
